Using roms of HTC One forum on carrier unlocked Verizon model HTC One M7VZW - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a sim unlocked Verizon HTC One which i have been using in India (Mumbai) for quite a long time now(it's dual-band CDMA/GSM). the phone is S-off and rooted from verizon htxc one forum. My question is whether could i flash other roms / kernels present in this forum on my device?
if yes should i flash some firmware in RUU before installing the ROM? Also which twrp recovery should i use verizon one or international one?

you can only use Recovery for the m7vzw >> http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7vzw
and you should only flash Roms that are posted here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one/development
or

[Q] Can you convert a regular One into a dev One with Ota Support? (request)

Im looking for some developer to post a guide on turning a regular Htc One like the T Mobile or AT&T version into a Developer Edition One that will get Ota updates from Htc. All the internets await the dev that does this, or 5 bucks on paypal. Whatever you choose.
This has already been done, although not in one tutorial yet on XDA.
Basicly unlock bootloader via Revolution method S-OFF flash standard RUU (I suggest a 1.28 version so OTA can be checked) and OTA Then relock bootloader and go back S-ON voila standard HTC.
I did it myself with a dutch branded HTC from T-Mobile and made a tutorial in dutch.

can it be done with sprint one too?
If it can be unlocked and S-OFF via revolution I don't see why not. When a RUU is then installed it makes it a standard HTC edition
Won't work on Sprint. The Dev edition is GSM only.

Uhm it's not GSM only it can use LTE/4G just fine here

can it do voice over LTE?
Sprint still uses CDMA radios and the Dev edition RUU won't have one.
Also the Sprint phone has a different partition layout than the Dev edition.
The boot partition on GSM phones is the partition number Sprint uses for the radio if I remember correctly

For the sake of simplicity I'll add the Dev edition doesn't support CDMA. Better?
OK no need to treat me like a noob .Did some reading into CDMA and GSM and the sprint version is just different alltogether. The Netherlands/Europe doesn't work like that with different models dor a specific provider.
We have a couple of providers that use the same phone but for example a differnet frequency for GSM 2G 3G 4G etc. CDMA isn't at all available here. or as I understand anywhere outside the US.
So if Sprint uses CDMA I'm afraid it might not work when de Dev edition of the rom hasn't got CDMA support.
You could turn the sprint One into a gsm one it has both radios, just check your gsm needs as it is extremely lacking on how many frequencies it actually has.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
its not about the fact that it has both radios. its just the plain simple fact that Sprint uses CDMA for almost all of its phone and data capabilties and the fact that since the HTC ONE/GE only has a GSM version. if you indeed flash an OTA from the GE version it wont have CDMA drivers and therefore you'll basically have a 600 dollar HTC Ipod touch.

[Q] Compatibility GSM ROM for CDMA Device

It will be possible to install a GSM ROM HTC One, to avoid having to be changed to GSM mode in Sprint HTC One?
I don't want to brick my device, I wonder what happen if I flash a GSM Stock Rom in this sprint HTC One

Your question is not very clear, but if I understand well you wan't to install a GSM ROM on a Sprint model.
The answer is NO, but there are some ROMs in HTC international forum which have added Sprint support like Viper, Insertcoin, Elegancia, ARHD.
If you flash a non compatible ROM you'll brick your phone, cause you'll mess up the partitions, kernel. In that case it's a pain and you'd have to flash a ruu in order to get it working again

Post above is correct. User however appears to want to use a GSM ROM thinking that it will prevent the annoyance of using the Sprint HTC One on a GSM network requiring that you constantly switch the network mode to GSM/UTMS.
Sorry, don't think it's feasible at this time though.

[Q] Converting Verizon HTC One into an International Unbranded HTC One

Hello!
I was just curious about this stuff. Most of the people I asked said that the Verizon variant has a different partition layout compared to the AT&T and all the other variants. But, I was looking around the forum and one guy said this...
alray said:
Only phones with MID starting with PN071 (GSM M7_U or M7_UL) can be converted to other variants having MID starting with PN071 (GSM M7_U or M7_UL).
For example, you can convert a WWE GSM variant (PN0710000) to a Dev edition GSM variant (PN0712000)
You can't convert a Sprint CDMA variant (PN0720000) to a GSM variant (PN071XXXX)
Afaik, (I might be wrong, confirm if your partition table is the same)You can't (?) convert a Verizon CDMA variant (PN0731000) to a T-MOB GSM variant (PN0713000)
Afaik, MIDs not having the same 3rd digit have different partition layout and different hardware. Make sure before proceeding.
---------- Post added at 09:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:15 AM ----------
Ok, it looks like Verizon variant have the same partition layout as the GSM variant
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2416038
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317621
So you should be fine changing your MID from PN0731000 to any PN071 MID and flashing a RUU.
But you will probably not have LTE because flashing RUU doesnt change frequency bands.

So does that mean I can convert my Verizon HTC One (M7) to an international M7 without any problems? I am not using a Verizon sim card so I do not need CDMA networks or whatever. If this is possible, will the process be the same as converting an unbranded One to the Developer Edition? I believe converting my Verizon One to the international one will also allow me to test out the ROMs available for it, correct me if I'm wrong.
P.S. I am S-OFF'ed with HBOOT 1.57
CID: VZW_001
MainVer: 5.28.605.2
This is an annoying question for some of you people, I know. But, Thanks!

The Verizon variant does have the same partitions layout than the UL variant, however a Verizon variant can't be converted to a UL variant.

@alray , I know u know a hell of a lot about the m7, but I gotta double check and ask just to make sure I'm reading this correctly; youre saying the Verizon variant of the M7 has the SAME partition layout as the UL M7?
I only ask because I own a Verizon M7, (love this phone) , and I've yet to try flashing S.Rom ONLY because Ive been told by many ppl in the M7 S.Rom thread that it will brick Verizon devices because of the partition layout "being different" according to them. (i know there will be data connectivity issues as it is a GSM rom and my device is a CDMA device, however that's not whAt I'm concerned about) , I just never flashed it as I was scared it would write things to the wrong partitions...

The Sprint one does have a different partition layout as opposed to the Verizon variant which is the same layout as the UL variant. Check the links in the quote at post #1. We already tried to convert in another thread, the ruu flashed fine and nothing flashed on the wrong partition but it wasn't booting correctly because of the CDMA radio

What ROMs do I use for HTC One M7 Telus?

I'm on the Canadian variant, Telus. What forum section should I be in and is it safe to flash AT&T files as I remember with my S3 I could flash AT&T files even though I was Telus.

Telus M7 is a GSM variant (M7_UL) so you can flash every custom rom for (M7_UL) you find here in the GSM M7 forum. You can also flash roms for the M7_U variant but wouldn't recommend doing it as it will disable LTE.
I have flashed a lot of ROMs from this forum for my Rogers M7, which is basically the same as yours.

Which ROMs have you flashed?
I have flashed Skydragon Google Play Edition by Holy Angel. I also have flashed ROMs by artur0588 and Mike 1986. These are just a few that I have had great success with. There are so many good ones here.

If you have unlocked bootloader, s-off, cid 1111111, and twrp. You can flash and test any rom you like.

He doesn't need s-off nor supercid to flash any GSM roms.
An unlocked bootloader and the correct custom recovery version is all he need.
S-OFF is only needed if he want to convert its Telus phone to another Variant e.g Convert from official Telus software and firmware to official Rogers software and firmware or if he want to downgrade to an older version version.
@karmasblade
Telus M7 is M7_UL = the most common M7 model (GSM + LTE) that almost everyone have here. All roms made for GSM variant (M7_UL) will work on Telus M7. Just don't forget other requirements: some roms requires a specific custom recovery version to be flashed and also requires the latest firmware to be installed on your phone, in your case latest Telus Firmware is 7.17.661.7.
You can see what your firmware is by using this command:
Code:
fastboot getvar all
Version-main string is your firmware version.

Only M7_UL and M7_U variants are RUU cross-compatible (still require to change CID/MID). So don't flash the dev edition RUU on your Verizon (wlv) variant. Anyway, better to stick with viperone imo, much more up-to-date then using a RUU.

You can install any Verizon stock or custom roms, it won't affect the radio bands the phone was designed to work with. Refer to htc website to know what bands the Verizon htc one supports and check if it's compatible with your carrier.
