Lenovo´s latest 4.4.2

Thx for the info, I also have A3500-FL, rooted but still on 4.2.2.
Can you compare how 4.4.2 works for you?
I read a couple of posts where people are complaining about it.

It was actually risky to try this root method for my aunt's A3500 HV as I had just bought it for her on 24 Sep 2014.
Originally I bought the tablet with android 4.2.2 and it was get rooted by RootGenius__lenovohome v 1.9.6. When I found this thread, I updated the tablet into FW version A3500hv_a442_01_32_140805 (android 4.4.2) by flashing tool. When it was successful updated to this version, I was noticed via OTA a newer version, FW A3500-HV_A442_01_35_140911 immediately after the first boot. I went ahead with downloading and updating the newer version by OTA. I felt it was so much better with the latest version with rapid lock GPS, better screen display quality and better sound quality as well.
As I was afraid to get brick the tablet in this thread, I tried to root the tablet again with RootGenius__lenovohome v 1.9.6 again but no lucky. As the result I decided to give me a chance to try the root method in this thread for A3500 HV with my own risk as I thought it can be unbrick by re-flashing a FW. Luckily it was rooted successfully with the instruction in this thread. It was a magic. :good::good::good:

Thanks for the reply well I new that they had put some extra security in the new kitkat version so that you can not root but when you use the recovery then you are installing the su file when android OS is is off so the security can't catch you
All right one last question have you tried making a nandroid backup and restoring it up until now if so and successfully please say so
Also if you do not know what a nandroid backup is it is just a backup of an entire operating system and can be used if the system gets bricked and it is totally harmless all it takes is 5 min since you had done the dangerous part and if that works can you check out nandroid restore because if the backup worked in success then there is a 97% chance that clockworkmod restore works o and there won't be any loss of data because you are doing a restore of all the data you backed up seconds ago
If there is a single error message after even after the backup and restore is finished please report it
The backup is totally harmless so if you can just check that I and all the HV version around the world would be very great full thanks in advance.......:fingers-crossed:

Actually I'm pretty sure that KK FW of A3500H does work on A3500HV then I think that the root method will work on A3500HV either. The only different thing between A3500H and A3500HV is call function, I think so.
I did try a Nandroid backup on FW 4.2.2 actually by using the recovery in this thread before upgrading to KK FW. It took about 10 minutes less for the backup procedure to be done without any error and it was written on CMW/BACKUP folder on external SD card (16GB was used). I noticed that the backup steps were similar to any Nandroid backup on CWM recovery: backup boot, recovery, system then data... later generating MD5 checksum. I haven't tried to restore this backup as the update KK FW works really great.
I also tried to flash zip FW (the latest one with build number A3500-HV_A442_01_35_140911) which was found on this link https://yadi.sk/d/KY44k2XDba5Mw from the Russian Lenovo Forum when the tablet was on FW 4.2.2. However, it was not successfull as the recovery said that there was nothing found on the zip to flash. I had no idea about it. Maybe we cannot upgrade to KK by this way when on JB FW or this CWM recovery (which is customized for A3500) can't be used to flash rom. Then I have to upgrade it by flashing tool and FW found on this link: http://lenovo-forums.ru/topic/7809-прошивка-lenovo-a7-a3500hv-a442-01-32-140805-row-call/
Link to the forum: http://lenovo-forums.ru/forum/289-прошивки-lenovo-a7-a3500/
The tablet is not with me now as I just bought it for my aunt so I don't have a chance to try Nandorid backup when it is on KK FW. If there is a chance to do so, I will report it shortly.
I think it would be great if we could have flashable custom rom for Lenovo A3500HV via offical custom recovery.
Good luck!
Cheers,

[Q] Xperia Z1 Rooting - Still confused

If I am not the most ignorant XDAdevelopers member I am certainly in the top 10. That said here is my dilemma.
Equipment:
* Phone: Sony Xperia Z1
* Model: C6906
* Android Version: 4.3
* Build: 14.2.A.0.209
Goals:
* I would like root access (SuperSU).
* I don't want ClockWork Mod Manager (permanently, if I need to use it at some point).
* I DON'T want a custom ROM (I want to keep the stock firmware).
* Xposed Framework provide all the functionality I need.
* IF boot loader unlocking is necessary I would like to be able to relock the boot loader.
From my readings KINGO would appear to be amongst the simplest root tools, but from the KINGO site it does not appear to support the Z1. On the other hand, I have read posts where users say they have used KINGO on this phone.
Is a full nandroid backup possible/necessary given the above prior to making changes?
As I already feel like the South end of a horse facing North, please be gentle with any comments.
Thanks in advance.

You want a full nandroid backup but no recovery? I suggest you install a recovery and leave it there. It wont make any difference to you
First, if all you want is root them do this
1) Downgrade to 4.2 FW ending in .534
2) Install dual recovery from the cross development thread
3) Flash SuperSU.zip from chainfire
4) Upgrade to your chosen ROM, there are several stock based ones in the development section.
No need to unlock your bootloader, you will be rooted and your choice of ROM with the ability to use xposed

Look carefully my friend and the truth will appear to you clearly... It is supported as you seed at this line :
How to update to 14.3.A.0.681:
Files:
For C6906: Download C6906_14.3.A.0.681.flashable.zip (Bittorrent: 956MB) and C6906_14.3.A.0.681_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
You don't heave to Unlock Bootloader to get Root. I don't know what is ClockWork Mod Manager? For sure you will need a recovery, permanently like TWRP or Philz to make Update with Pre-Rooted Androids.
Download the FTF .534 Rogers for your model form FTF Collection in general Section, flash it with Flashtool v0.9.15, when you are on 4.2.2 FW .534 Root it with Bin4ry Method (from PC, there is not simplest way), Install SuperSU from Play Store or Flash the .zip file (you will find the link on How Root 4.3 or 4.4), then Instal XZDualRecovery (from PC, there is not simplest way), now you are ready to update to your favorite Android 4.3 or 4.4 and follow the instructions of "Hot to" in the specific thread.

CMW recovery-Clock Work Mod recovery
Its the one Philz is based on...
You do not need it permanently, you can delete it and reinstall it when you want it, but I don't see the point in that, just leave it there to be used as when is needed.
BTW, I am not soo fast in typing so I am the last one!!

Of curse. Nothing to say about that. :good:
I was hoping to avoid what appears to me major modifications like flashing firmware (next phone is a nexus).
Another question, if I root only will a factory restore remove root?
Thanks to all the help. Off to work now, looking forward to reading more comments if any more are offered.
fiiish
yes, flashing stock FTF will revert your phone back to a factory state
This process of rooting will take about 10 minutes once you have everything downloaded, its not difficult.

First you need the requirement
Download the 534 firmware of your country here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469191
Install XZDualRecovery here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261606
Now you can follow the instructions of NUT :
Put 'C69XX_14.3.A.0.681.flashable.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
Put 'C69XX_14.3.A.0.681_Stripped.ftf' inside the Flashtool/firmwares folder;
Start your phone in recovery mode (boot the phone and after the 2 vibrations push vol down)
Create a backup of your phone in TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard' (the internal storage!);
Flash 'C69XX_14.3.A.0.681.flashable.zip' in TWRP (select install and select your file)
NOTE: do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off;
Flash everything in 'C69XX_14.3.A.0.681_Stripped.ftf' using flashtool;
Reboot to system.

Xperia Z3- How Do I Downgrade to KitKat 23.0.A.2.98 So I can Get Root?

Could not downgrade to get root
Hi all,
I'm a very big fan of this community, but only to read and learn. But now I need your help...
History: rooted my phone few months ago in the way told in this post. Everything went well, but last week my screen broke. Sony fixed it but also put latest software on it... and removed root.
Today I tried to downgrade to KitKat 23.0.A.2.98 again (stil had the FTF) to get root again, so I can put back my Nandroid backup. I didn't manage to get it working... after restarting after flashing when the blue screen appears before you are asked to unlock your SIM... my phone makes a pitching noise for 10 seconds and then reboots again. The process repeats itself again and again.
Fortunately I can flash the latest firmware back and my phone works again... thank God because a thought for a moment I soft bricked my phone.
Anyone a solution to get root? I'm now on LP 5.1.1
thnx!!!!
ciao
Valentijm
How did you downgrade? The normal way... means: using flashtool (latest version) and which settings did you use for flashing? ...and did you try downloading a different version and flashing it?

Hi Tom, yes I did it the normal way... latest flashtool and settings the same as before, so I checked no boxes. After that didnýtwork I tried something different, so checked all wipe options. I also tried a different version and flashed that via the normal way. That didn't work either... the only flash that worked so far was 23.4.A.0.546 / R7C. But that's way to new to get root via downgrading
So the flashing process did always work without problems? But the result is always as you described?
And if it's only about root... did you try Kingroot? Afaik it is supposed to work on almost all versions.
Another thing: I don't remember all options by heart (and can't check them atm)... but maybe try some of the provided options.

It's more that when I reboot after having flashed back to earlier FW my phone bootloops... so I don't even get a chance to continue and root. Very annoying!
My next move is to find another old stock FTF (probably not a Dutch one) and will try to flash that one with different boxes checked.
When I'm back home I can check for the one that I used (quite recently) when relocking BL and rooting etc. If I don't find the source anymore, I can maybe upload it for you.
Ok... so this was the version that I used... to downgrade and root:
D5803_23.0.A.2.93_Generic_GLOBAL_1286-9917.ftf
try this link maybe:

There's an easy way to get Root on 5.1.1 without having to downgrade back to kitkat
- Unlock your bootloader on Sony's Website
- Search for a custom kernel here that is for 5.1.1 ( e.g. Androplus, etc )
- Boot into fastboot mode in Flashtool and flash the kernel
- You now get recovery because the kernel comes with a custom recovery
- Flash SuperSu's latest Zip file to get root
- Enjoy

Maybe be careful when recommending that without mentioning, that he would loose his DRM keys in that process... so I would always add the comment, that he should have a backup before unlocking. Or at least mention the loss of the DRM keys as a warning.

Full TWRP backup le s3 x522

Hey guys, I was playing around with the leeco s3 and I think I over flashed something or other. It's not exactly working right. Can someone please upload a complete btwrp backup of their le s3 x522 on 18s, 19s or 20s?
Thanks in advance!

I think you need to start reading some threads around here, once you have installed the TWRP for the S3, you cannot get OTA to work again and their are other numerous issues too, as of yet nobody can fully restore back to stock. So start reading.
Also a few people here do have flashable firmware that might help but it will never be a full stock recovery unless something is fixed.

I think you need to CAREFULLY read this thread before thinking of writing something.
I did not ask for OTA updates. I did not ask for stock. I asked for a functioning TWRP backup of the Le S3. Thats it.

Please play nice ppl

Thanks, Ive seen this post as well, it is 19s but is the boot partition (i think) and data partition, no recovery or system partition.
I was curious if anyone had a complete backup of working system, recovery, boot, data partitions for restoring?
Also I get this odd error 7 when trying to restore it, anyone know what is going on?
Thanks

i would suggest, going back to twrp, and erase data, then restore again and see what happens
Good news guys! I was able to get the official le s3 from leeco directly!! I will upload it soon, it is 5.8.020s.

Hey, do you know where I could find the Chinese TWRP that allows me to flash the original stock EUI rom? I flashed LineageOS but the camera is not perfect, so I wish to go back to EUI but I cannot figure out how to install it without seeing errors such as "this package is for "le_s2_na" devices. Your device is a "s2"." Could you point me in the right direction? Maybe a download link for the Chinese TWRP that people claim works? Thanks!

You need to unzip the firmware file, remove top 2 lines from META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script and zip it again, it will remove the platform check. However device still does not boot, I tried to install both 20S and 21S multiple times. My guess is we need the original recovery partition image for X522 and I could not find it anywhere.
I resolved it. Took 2 days and dozens of flashes. As far as I can tell the key was to wipe everything - system, cache, data, internal storage, then reboot into bootloader again and into Chinese TWRP.
So the process would be:
1. power off the phone. Hold VolumeDown button and power on. It loads into bootloader.
2. fastboot oem unlock-go
3. fastboot boot twrp.img.
4. In TWRP wipe EVERYTHING
5. In TWRP reboot -> bootloader.
6. repeat 2-3.
7. On PC: adb push S2_X522-NA-OP-IFXNAOP5802102141S-5.8.021S.zip /sdcard
8. In TWRP click right button on the bottom and select English. Click "Do not allow modifications." Install the zip file you just uploaded.
9. Reboot.

Hmm I might try that later, but what would I do if I get the classical error ("this package is for "le_s2_na" devices")? Will that error not show up if I follow your method?

no start after I clicked TWRP Fix Permissions

Hello,
I need advice, please. MOTO G2 (2014) XT1068
XT1068 unlocked>TWRP installed>TWRP Fix permissions clicked>now boot animation and goes into black screen (with backlight).
More detailed:
Last night I have unlocked my XT1068 and installed TWRP, no problem.
(following this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLSTDsFG1xw, citing https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/recovery-twrp-2-8-0-1-moto-g-2014-t2896165).
First deviation was I got TWRP from http://www.devfiles.co/download/4lhHC4Uv/TWRP_2.8.0.1_Titan_v2.img as I ran into an unavoidable sign-up trap following the cited url).
Second deviation was I chose to install SU offered by the TWRP app via Gplay, which was unsuccessful.
So I decided to go back and follow the instruction, using the provided "Update SU" file but found my Windows Explorer but it didn't give me access to internal memory or SD card. After short research, I found that XT1068 "developer options>USB configuration" toggling MTP to Charging only and back MTP helped https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/3nnkaa/cant_access_android_device_internal_storage_from/ as the Windows Explorer was able to access the XT1068 memory. (SD card was setup as internal memory).
I copied the file over, rebooted into TWRP but couldn't see the file. I remember having seen something like "unable to mount or access memory" in TWRP and remembered from XDA thread that permissions might be messed up. It was late, I jumped to a conclusion when I found the TWRP option "Fix permissions". I clicked it and have since the issue.
I can get into the menu which offers "recovery" and also get into TWRP
I have tried "Factory reset" but I am not sure what happens there, Motorola boot animation comes and then the black screen again (with backlight)
I think I have options but feel like in a minefield and better ask for what to do next.
Thank you
can you tell me you're bootloader version and on what android version you were when you messed up things? If your phone boots up to the bootloader i.e. the menu which allows you to enter recovery then you're having more than one options to fix this problem. But be careful this time. as this may brick your phone and it will be gone for good..
Read this XDA thread and do the steps carefully. This may restore your phone
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/official-stock-firmware-t3018682
Hi, I had the stock Marshmallow and bootloader is showing 48.86 (if that is actually the number). I was aiming to do a titanium backup and then probably try a custom ROM.
I will follow the steps in the link provided to get back to a known working state before trying a custom ROM but I really like to understand what went wrong and in what state the phone now is. I don't think my deviations where a bad choice but clicking "Fix permissions" obviously was. I like to learn from mistakes.
Thanks for helping me out.
Ok, read the guide and am uncertain which firmware is the correct one for New Zealand (the thread is full of confusion about the versions). I am waiting for a reply there and asking here if I could from this point also try to flash a custom rom via TWRP? Or better back to a working condition before doing this? Thanks.

Umm.. About the firmware version of the stock ROM, you can search google for it. And as far as your question about trying a custom ROM, you can try whichever ROM you want (except Ubuntu Touch, it's installation methods are too confusing). Just download the ROM in .zip file and download "Google Apps (GApps)", I prefer open gapps and install the rom via TWRP.
Wipe out these paritions in TWRP > Wipe > Advanced Wipe:
Dalvik/ART cache
Cache
Data
System
Also before installing any custom ROM read the steps plus read user comments before flashing anything
P.S. make sure your TWRP is latest. For TITAN it is TWRP-3.2.0-0

Yes, thanks.
I have flashed ROM's successfully before on Galaxy S3 and Tab 2 and used gapps via TWRP.
I have tried Google for the correct version but find myself turning in circles, most-likely my limited search term knowledge.
https://www.reddit.com/r/MotoG/comments/4bgg02/info_all_moto_g_codenames_models_variants/ shows "XT1068 : Latin America/EU/UK/Asia/Australia/Germany/Brazil/India, Dual SIM" and the listed ROMs named XT1068_TITAN_RET ...(BR for Brazil?) (LA for Latin America?) (DSDS for India?) (GB for UK?) (DE for Germany?) then what? Some are obvious others are what I have read through various comments, DSDS may even be for (EU/INDIAN/GLOBAL), I have not been able to find a really good page explaining this.
You did not answer my last question directly but given that you stated how to flash a ROM and what to wipe, I assume you mean that I could alternatively install a custom ROM at this stage. (Which is what I had planned originally).
Still, would be nice to know the correct firmware version and also why clicking "Fix permission" turned things into custard.
Thanks.

Yeah, I´ve seen in the post of @karteileiche that link: http://www.devfiles.co/download/4lhHC4Uv/TWRP_2.8.0.1_Titan_v2.img. That recovery is outdated and not from the original source. Maybe that´s the reason why things get messed up.
Downlad latest TWRP always from this site if you don´t need something unoffical for your device: https://dl.twrp.me/
For titan this would be: https://twrp.me/motorola/motorolamotog2014.html
About installation of custom roms: When you check any thread of custom roms you´ll find in the OP what to wipe and what to use.
And imho it would be better to first flash the actual recovery before flashing any custom rom.
Valid point, thanks for reminding me and providing the link.

Stuck on the black screen - power on doesn't work, only Recovery and Download works

Hello.
I've been playing with some custom ROMs, recoveries, etc. on S10 SM-G973F. Every time something went wrong I was able to flash stock Android 11 ROM with Odin and run the system after that. But not anymore...
At this moment I have access to Recovery Mode (stock, TWRP, LineageOS... whichever I flash with Odin) and Download Mode. When I try to power on the phone with button or with an option Boot to System from Recovery the phone turns off and nothing else happens. Black screen only, no vibration, etc.
I tried to format data and cache in Stock Recovery and TWRP. I tried to flash many time, changed USB cable, change USB port... nothing helps.
What is strange that after I flash the stock recovery the phone boots one time displaying the unlocked bootloader warning, Samsung logo and Android robot icon with an Erasing sign... but just for a 1-2s, very short time. Before the problem occurred the Erasing took much much more time. After that one time I cannot make to display bootloader unlocked warning and Samsung logo any more, no matter which ROM or recovery I flash.
Maybe you can try installing the original firmware and start over again.
That is what I do in the first place, I try to flash the original firmware with Odin. I use the same files as before. The only difference I can see is that after the flashing the Erase progress was very long and now it is only 1-2s and the phone turns off.
Ok, I've found my mistake and a solution. I will post it here if anyone else has a similar problem.
So while I was playing with different ROMs one of them had an instruction to flash G973FXXSCFUH5-twrp_flashable.zip that included:
modem.bin
dt.img
dtbo.img
cm.bin
sboot.bin
up_param.bin
keystorage.bin
uh.bin
The zip included was to an older firmware G973FXXSCFUH5, while I was already on newer G973FXXSEFUJ2. But the TWRP that I used to flash the zip did not protest and the process finished well. Causing the problems above of course.
Don't know why but flashing the whole original G973FXXSEFUJ2 firmware with Odin was not enough. But when I flashed G973FXXSEFUJ2-twrp_flashable.zip from the TWRP worked and made the phone operational again.
hello, I am in the same situation after having wanted to install blastui I find myself with the possibility of starting only in dow load or in twrp. Can you help me

0. Make sure your phone is charged!
1. Check your current SW# in Download mode (the number stands for the number or letter in firmware code, the 5th sign from the end in hexadecimal, for example SW# 14 is E in G973FXXSEFUJ2_G973FOXMEFUJ2)
2. Find the proper version of bootloader and modem in ....-twrp_flashable.zip format (check here: https://github.com/corsicanu/9820-bootloaders_and_modems/releases)
3. Flash and run TWRP recovery.
4. Flash the zip file from #2.
Flashing the stock firmware with Odin was not enough for me. Flashing with TWRP made the S10 back to alive.

Best way to go back to stock rom is simply flash it with Odin from original files available from Samsung, for example on SamMobile:

Thanks for the help brother I appreciate it
For months I've tried searching for a solution to fix my SM-N976U that stopped booting up. None of the symptoms shared fully matched what I was experiencing, so every fix I attempted didn't get her fully functioning again, eventually I gave up trying, stuffed the phone in a drawer and just bought another one. Today I stumbled upon your post and every symptom you described fit exactly with what happen to me, I mean to the T, minus the model and fw version. So I grabbed my SM-N976U one more time and followed your solution... and guess what??? I am now a proud owner of 2 note 10 plus'!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and solution!! Cheers to you bud! Have a great New Year!
Thank you~! my s10 plus is back!
