[Q] Moto x No Service - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
Had my Moto X 1060xt flashed by a friend of a friend and well hes not a friend and he hasn't been friendly to my phone. Added TWRP and Flashed Dirty Unicorns to it, awesome rom, no issues however now I can't connect to my service provider, Rogers,. I don't know much about flashing and I've read in some circumstances that the radio may not be compatible with the rom. I know most are thinking well just flash it to stock. That sounds easy but now when I boot into TWRP there's no back up and nothing for recovery. I'm thinking in the process of updating my rom my partition was wiped. Am I screwed?? What can I do. I've read there are steps to doing a flash to stock recovery but I'm fearful I'll mess it up. Is there a rom to attempt to recover the radio for service. For those of you technically savvy enough to understand the dilemma what info can i share to help resolve this?
Love this site, some very smart people here but usually talk in terms I have no idea about. Any help is greatly appreciated

The rsd lite cant see my moto x i can only access it thru the fastboot but when i try the rsd way it doesnt see the phone.
Download/find the correct system.img and boot.img for your device, then push/install them via fastboot. You shouldn't need anything else. Recovery, bootloader, and other firmware should be untouched. Only issue is if it's a safestrap device, then I have no clue.

fastboot flash system system.img
The obvious thing is make sure you have fastboot set up correctly... Drivers as well.
Make sure all drivers are installed, trust me redlite works with a soft bricked moto x, I found out today, my phone was bootlooping, nandroids failed soi wiped the sdcard and realized at that point I did the noob thing, well it worked like a charm rsdlite
Sent on my Moto X

i would like to thank all you guys for all the advise that was given to help me bring my moto x back to life i finally got it up and running again using the moto x toolkit it seemed like the only thing that would of work in my situation again thank yall so much :victory::victory::victory:
Who unlocks their bootloader but doesn't know what to do when stuff goes bad, like this?
If you read enough to unlock the bootloader, you should have read enough to know what to do here. Coming here frantic without even checking the eleven billion threads already is silly. We have about 12 threads about the new update and similar high number threads about restoring your phone.
Too many repetitive threads for the Moto X on xda. Some people just need to take 5 minutes and look through general or Q&A before they blindly post. Clutter everywhere.
And finally, dude! I do not have any pity for you. I'm on Verizon and cannot unlock my bootloader maybe that's why I just ranted. Nothing personal, just a general consensus of this section as of late...

oh brother i am not mad at you but as a by the way i DID try different ways of trying to load the os back using this site as a guidance before i made this post this post was a last ditch effort before i smash the moto x and use the insurance claim on it i have been a member of this site since 2010 i just didnt create this account

[Q] been out of the xda world for a while, need a couple questions awnsered

ok i had alot of bs happening in my life latly and just totally lost touch with this whole scene and im now having some tech issues and was hoping you guy would be kind enough to refreshify my memory and give me some updates.
so to my phone is a dev edition, Ultra Maxx but im running the VZW moto x factory images so that is why im posting here.
so whats been happening is my phone has been generally running slow and im getting really inconsistent battery life. what i was planing was to flash just to reflash the moto x firmware. im on straight 4.4 and now i see weve gotten 4.4.2 and 4.4.3 and im wondering what are the pros and cons were from a hack-ability stand point if any since im unlocked? also i use skvalex's call recorder and wondered if anyone is using it successfully on 4.4.2 or 4.4.3.
and im sure this is just me being a retard but i cant find motorolas factory image page? am i stupid or are they dicks and not doing it any more?
thanks in advance for the help and for patients with my reversion to a noob.

Factory SBF images here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0
Follow the instructions in the "Return to Stock" thread. I don't know about call recording, so can't advise on that.
I can tell you that if and when you upgrade to 4.4.2 or above, you can never go back to 4.4 - If you attempt to downgrade once on 4.4.2, you WILL brick your phone.
Good Luck
thank you i actually know about this site however im looking for the official motorola files specific to the dev editions,
ok i found it, this is what ive been looking for
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images
also if you flash the imgs manually as opposed to rds lite and DO Not flash the bootloader you can go back.
so for example im on 4.4 su1 and flash the system.img from su2 i can go back to su1, because attemting to flash the su1 boot.im over the su2.img is what bricks you

The VZW XT1060 rom hosted at SBF Droid Dev.org and requestable as the XT1060 Dev Edition from Moto directly are the same. Verified if you unzip and do a file compare of the IMG and BIN files included. At one point the XML files differed slighty in that the DEV Ed SBF from Moto had an extra reboot in the XML while flashing, and the erase cache and erase userdata statements were included in one but not the other.
In the OP you mention you have a Ultra Maxx running the Moto X rom... so I don't know if the same conditions apply, but on a Real X... if you flash just downgrade just SYSTEM.IMG, you will have issues. For example Settings -> Security will kick you back out of that menu. Other problems might arise too. Also, while in this state of miss matched GPT.BIN and MOTOBOOT.IMG (bootloader) vs ROM version, should you take an OTA update best case it will fail, worst case it will brick.

HELP Please! Stock phone stuck on first 4.2.2. Rogers XT1058

Basic phone user here.
I just got the brand spankin' new Moto X from Rogers (Fido, a subsidiary) and try as their techs might to assist me, the damn thing is stuck on the original Rogers firmware and won't grab the update, so currently it's stuck on system version 139.7.26.ghost_row.RCI.en.CA. Moto and Rogers are basically telling me to ship it for repairs - takes X weeks, and I should mention the reason I have this new Moto X is because the last one got all knocked up at the exact same repair place....yeah, forget that.
So it's pretty much down to me to fix this myself, but at the same time I really don't want to void any warranty just incase worse comes to worst and I do need to send it for repairs/rinse-repeat this whole process again.
I'm hoping you guys can help me! What I'd like to do is apply the OTA Rogers updates for 139.12.36.ghost_row.RCI.en.CA and 161.44.26.ghost_row.RCI.en.CA through any which means that would absolutely certainly not void the Motorola warranty, which I think basically limits me to finding these impossibly hard-to-find files for the 2 updates that would allow me to simply "apply update from SD card"....ya?
I've found a few threads here, but most of them seem to be to just flash the full rom or update rom(?). From what the warranty reads, it sounds as though flashing a ROM using a third-party program would void it. There was also a thread (lost in my history now) that seemed to do what I wanted for GOING FROM 139.12.36.ghost_row.RCI.en.CA TO 161.44.26.ghost_row.RCI.en.CA, but unfortunately I'm a version behind being able to do that.
Anyways yeah that's it. This hell has had me without a truly-usable Moto for over a month now and I AM LITERALLY DYING. I don't even want to download apps since I'll probably just end up having to wipe the damn thing for like the 8th time. I just want my phone back
Please help guys; any ideas, advice, w/e are greatly appreciated!

Flash the entire 4.4.2 sbf! Follow the instructions in the return to 100% stock thread.
It will take you straight to 4.4.2!
It will erase everything so save anything important first.
Everything you need and full instructions are in that thread.
This will not void warranty. These are actual Motorola factory images, signed with release keys.

[Q] Moto G stuck after flash

Hello everybody. First thing first you should know that I am a noob. You will see why in the explanation of the problem. Then...
I have upgraded my moto g to lollipop via OTA (xt1032 8GB). Didn't like it so I tried to to downgrade to kitkat. Success, but I got the screen flickering problem so I was looking for a way to get back the previous bootloader. I even tried to flash to cwm recovery. And that is the point where I did the (probably) most stupidest thing. Thinking that I could flash back the stock rom, I've wiped out everything with cwm recovery. Now I'm stuck, have nothing in the moto g except the bootloader screen (41.18), I panicked and I flashed the stock recovery with the moto tool, but I think I've worsened everything. Now it's the time for laughing. Ok I deserve it. The question is: can I do something to get back my moto g? I don't care if with lollipop (I will keep it as long it works), I'm in total panic. Now even adb doesn't recognize the device.
Thanks for reading all of this. If you guys can help it would be wonderful (don't be afraid to ask something in return because I will do almost everything! ).
Greetings.
Freddy.
P.S. There are surely problems with my english. Sorry about that!
Ok found a topic (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/unbrick-method-t2794271) about how to unbrick and following the procedure. Flashed the Philz recovery with success. Now I'm following the OP procedure. In a few minutes the results...
After a few tries and a lot of strange errors that I decided to ignore I've been finally able to get kitkat back!!! Ok the screen is flickering like before but it doesn't matter. Learned a lot of thinks and discovered lot of useful tools!
Bye!

Not a good idea to downgrade a moto g and your posting in the wrong forum , you need to post in the first gen forum your posting in the 2nd gen 2014 forum. I'd redownload the stock lollipop ROM and flash using fast boot
http://www.filefactory.com/folder/c6cdedc45a775d27 find the one that corresponds to your model and carrier and country.
Thanks for the advice. In the end I've updated to lollipop because I was tired of all the "bugs" between the new bootloader and kitkat. Sadly I was unable to find a compatible version of the xposed framework, but I think I will just wait for the stable! .
Thanks again!
Freddy.

stock recovery for vzw?

Hello everyone. I don't know a whole lot about HTCs, but I want one badly after rooting one for a friend. I have another friend that tried to root a 626 verizon version on 6.0 with a tutorial on the HTC site for a different phone (he didn't ask me, I assure you and I gave him a scolding) and his recovery is broken. He's not sure if he fastbooted TWRP onto it or not but I think he may have without unlocking the bootloader. Is there possibly a stock recovery that he could fastboot back on there? His system is still booting and adb and fastboot are still connecting, I just don't know if there is a stock recovery for his and since it's not mine, I don't want to spend hours looking. Also, he doesn't have a lot of understanding yet as this was his first root attempt so I'm asking for him. Thanks so much for any help with this. Any Android down makes me sad. I told him if he wants to root get something non-verizon. He just ordered an unlocked S5 and I told him thats a very good place to start. But, if possible, I hope we can get his HTC right again. I also told him not to factory reset EVER if we can't get his recovery back. Thanks so much for any help.
