Cricket HTC Desire 610 released, PICS! - HTC Desire 510

HTC's new entry-level 64 bit quad core hits certain Cricket stores today, being an employee I snapped a couple of pics of one of the 5 Desire 510's available, all black.
I recently used a Desire 610 from AT&T for 2 weeks before getting my DooGee Dagger, it will be interesting to see how this new budget friendly HTC stands up to it.
Review coming soon!
Pics in next post. Uploading to my Drive now...

So....where's the review?

Incredible S!!!

http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/15/htc-refreshes-android-lineup-with-incredible-s-desire-s-and-wil/
I just wish the resolution was a bit higher, but i'm not going to complain. Really weird that it will be shipping with Android 2.2 (in Q2 of this year???) Also no mention of it being a 4G phone. And the biggest bummer, it doesn't say anything about it coming stateside
How about you guys, thoughts on the Incredible S?
Ah, you got to it before me. Anyway, the rotating capacitive buttons mean a rotating Rosie, so maybe we can finally see a Sense 2.5 build for the Incredible that's almost native, right? That being said, the picture clearly shows that there isn't an optical trackpad anymore, but I don't think anyone will really miss it.
To be honest its sad to see HTC's lineup. I honestly don't care about dual core, but I don't think they made any of their new phones dual core. Most of them were just barely updated from what they were the previous year. I really like HTC phones, but I think they need to step up their game to keep up with Moto, LG, Samsung, and any others. Their tablet doesn't even have honeycomb.

The recent announcements are hardly their full line up, but exactly what you said, updates of last year, as well as a few low to mid end "gimmick" devices (Facebook button, anyone?). Those are all intended to be global phones. Don't worry, I think we can still expect flagship phones like the Thunderbolt, Inspire 4G, and the much more recently rumored Revolver.(The latter two may be AT&T, don't remember). At least, I hope we can.
We can't expect any of these phones state side anytime soon. It's usually 6-12months before we see any phones that are "NEW".
That has slowly been changing though with carriers state side getting their own designed phones to compete with each other. I'm curious to see if T-mobile will get anything SUPER AWESOME like Sprint and Verizon have been getting. T-Mobiles line of MyTouch phones don't appeal to me design wise and Sense is the only way to go.
The Incredible S specs have Europe/Asia - HSPA: 900/AWS/2100 MHz and that should mean the with AWS it will work with Tmobiles 3G stateside. Looks like I'll be buying unlocked again if that's true. The Incredible S and the Flyer are the only 2 devices that list AWS in the Bands. So I hope it's true.

The tablet isn't shipping with honeycomb but they are planning on updating to it soon afterward. Same with the incredible s except with ice cream instead of honeycomb.

At least tmo is getting something slighty better than the mt4g, it looks better and has better display. Good interim while we wait for a dual-core qHD device.

in regards to this..u say 6-12 months for the device to release..but if that was the case why would they already be pushing it on the HTC website? and in the UK as of this weekend? http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/htc-incredible-s-uk-release-date-announced-931161
honestly i dont think itll be that long. We're already in March so to speak, so im thinking maybe early April to the end of April, no later.
I got one today from carphone warehouse, on an Vodafone contract upgrade.

I say that because that is usually the case. The US always gets phones later then the rest of the world. This is changing somewhat. It used to be a year+ before we saw phones. Our phone tech was always behind that of the world and still is. Look at the HD2. It came out in August/Sept of 09 around the world and when a US carrier got it it was like March/April of 2010. At least the gap is closing and the US now has some phones that the world doesn't but we still miss out on most products and still have to wait for others to reach our shores. Unless you but unlocked of course.
Some are saying that the specs are disapointing for the Incredible S how ever once you use it and compare against the Desire you should be impressed, I am and have both; the Inc S is far superior to the Desire IMHO.
Hi Guys,
I have a question about incredible s internal space. before i had desire hd and its shows 1.07 GB without installing any apps. and it was 1.5GB. now i bought incredible s it also shows 1.06GB internal space without installing any personal apps. and its is 1.1GB by htc. so what is the difference whether its stock rom is small one or it has same 1.5 GB like desire hd.
Mine arrived ... But I'm still at work ... aaaaah ...

that's somthing i would also like to know
incredible s
how is the screen on the incredible s compared to the desire and the desire hd. i have a desire amoled but i purchased a hd and was not impressed with the colours ,it looked washed out.
if it matches the slcd of the 1st desire after they changed from amoled i would be happy to take the plunge.

Next phone once IncS dies...

Thinking ahead, there will be a sad day when my trusty Incredible S kicks the bucket. So I've started looking for comparable phones seeing as I love this one so much, and my basic requirements are 4" screen size and hopefully HTC unless I can be convinced otherwise (I love Sense).
I think the Desire X is looking pretty great and is at the top of my list so far. http://www.htc.com/au/smartphones/htc-desire-x/
Any other suggestions? Or what will you be getting?

I would advise against the Desire X as a replacement for the Inc S. It probably wouldn't me much of an upgrade, if at all. The Desire X does have an S4 processor, but it's the lowest end S4 available and is nowhere near the performance levels of the S4's you find in the One X/S, North American GS3 etc. It also uses a significantly older CPU architecture in the Cortex A5, whereas our phone has a Cortex A8 CPU and modern dual cores/quad cores are based on the Cortex A9. The latest S4 processors are loosely based off the Cortex A15 which hasn't been released to the masses yet.
TLDR; Go with a Nexus phone or a higher end HTC than the desire X
Personally, I won't buy another HTC phone until they release a phone with on-screen buttons and 2GB of RAM. I'm hoping they make a phone like that, I really want another HTC.
I like Xperia S.
SGS3 though I don't see my IncS dying anytime soon lol. Ganna have to wait till my contact ends in 2013 Aug. Even then I think I'd be happy with SGS3 though new and better phones would be out by that time lol

Agree, don't buy HTC desire x

My next phone is going to be an htc one X. Nice phone and I'll still have text reflow.
I wonder why text reflow is not implemented by default into Android.
Thanks for the info. Yeah I understand it wouldn't be much of an upgrade if I chose the Desire X, but I love the incredible s so much I wanted something similar. I really don't want anything larger than 4", I have my Nexus 7 for things that require a larger screen so that seems to limit my options to mid-range phones these days.
ZaySk.. that's crazy that it uses older CPU architecture than the IncS :s why on earth would they do that?
maybe an iphone5?
Nah

Well I have one more year of warranty, so guess if it dies it will be a replacement.
But if it die maybe an HTC One S.Don't like the size of the X.In fact I'd like something 4'..
This with HTC quality, replaceable battery + micro sd would be perfect

I'm currently thinking of buying a Galaxy Nexus. It's pretty cool and my IncS is about to get its USB-Port broken but I can still sell it to my brother when it's working. But I'm not sure. A One X would be the best thing that could happen to me but I really cannot afford that. I just hope my IncS doesn't let me down so soon...

Which phone are you coming from/where do you live

Assuming you, who are reading this already have ordered the Nexus 4, kindly tell us of which phone did you use before?
i should start with me...
me: coning from Note I and Note II. live in Pakistan. tired of exynos and crap-wiz drama and decided to have a simple life
where did you come from?
Started on a Nexus S, switched to a One X a couple of months ago, gonna sell that and get a Nexus 4. I'm tired of HTC's locked down bootloader and slow as all hell kernel updates in the name of "security" and "features" (Sense).
I'm from the US, and I'm upgrading from a 2 year old Virgin Mobile Optimus V. It was my first smartphone and I outgrew it quite awhile ago. This is going to be a massive upgrade for me, and I'm quite excited. No more 600mhz processor and 320x480 screen, and no more 3mp camera
Tapatalk² from my Optimus V
I live in the UK, so LTE is not an issue. And I buy all my phones unlocked anyway, so £239 off contract is amazingly cheap. I'm coming from a Galaxy s II that I bought for around £500 when it was new- CES before last. I had an HTC Desire before that, and loved the true blacks of both these AMOLED screens. So I'm a little sad that the Nexus 4 has and IPS screen, but people are saying it's really good...
Coming from RaZr and from India.
But haven't ordered the phone yet as it isn't available here in India yet...through play store that is...
I am seriously considering selling my One X and getting the N4, lack of LTE is no issue in the UK, hell, we're only just getting DC-HSPA anyway.
Im from Canada coming from a Galaxy SL i9003,almost 2 year old device with 1ghz, 512mb ram and sgx530. (Bought it when it was already a year old for half the price LOL) A decent phone, but lack of official updates left on 2.3.6 really pissed me off. Have a few devs on XDA and they work tirelessly to make this device better which helped me stay longer on the SL . Time to move on now, though :crying:
In the process of selling my SGS3 now before the N4 comes out... im in CT, USA... gonna be running it on AT&T network for now... might jump ship to T-Mobile once my contract is up so i can take advantage of HSPA +42...
Coming from HTC One X (Tegra 3) and I live in Istanbul, Turkey.
In the US, currently on a mega locked down Atrix 2. I can't wait to have this guy.
I'm in the US. Presently have LTE Galaxy Nexus. Dumping Verizon when i get my Nexus 4 and getting T-Mobile's no contract plan. Giving my good old Nexus to my bestie. It'll be his first smartphone.
US here
I've been using a HTC HD2 since June 2010, probably the most awesome smartphone ever made. It had a good life, still working great but it's getting slow with ICS and some modern apps. So I'll go from a snapdragon 1st gen to a S4 Pro That should be interesting.
I don't change phone every 6 months as you can see and I think the N4 has what it takes to last a couple of years, but if Google now commits to release new Nexus phone in that price range (and it looks like it) I could afford to replace it every year.

hopefully. A dev on rootzwiki tried to port a htc one rom to the vivid with sense 4.0 and he couldnt. He said that the new sense was incompatible with our rill aka our radio. Now htc might be able to change that but you never know.

The One Line (X+, X(L), S, and V) will get it first. Then more than likely Desire X and the EVO 4G LTE, as those are the the only other 2012 HTC Androids with a Snapdragon S4. The only other 2012 devices, the Desire V and Desire C, are Snapdragon S1 and I doubt HTC is going to try to put JB on that (however if they do, that's a good sign for us). Then we hit the 2011 devices - The Explorer (another S1 device), then the Rezound, Vivid, Amaze, Sensation, EVO 3D, Sensation XE, all Snapdragon S3 devices, and in my opinion, the next worthy contenders for JB (the Rezound and Vivid being the most recently released). All other 2011 devices are S2 (Sensation XL, Incredible S, Desire S). Will we ever see an official carrier release? HIGHLY doubted. But if HTC really cares and they actually try - there should be some leaked RUUs to play with
(All Info from here - DEVICES PROCESSORS)
IRL - I bet they only give releases for S4 devices and say screw the rest of us.
There is a variant (very small market) of the One S (codename VilleC2), that is actually a Snapdragon S3. This is the device from which Rafy was trying to port Sense 4.0. Since then, they've also gotten a ICS 4.0.4/Sense 4.1 RUU (in football's thread) as well. I don't know what the actual problem was with Sense 4.0 not supporting our RIL, but if there are any porters out there who want to give 4.1 a shot, that's your best bet. And IF HTC gives them JB, again, a good place from which to start trying a port.
I think we have a good chance. Our device was the first AT&T device to get ics officially, maybe even the first snapdragon s3 device too. TBH the sensation without a doubt will get it, and the vivid follow shortly. The rezound is most likely never since verizon=noupdate4u
I am seriously not holding my breath for this.

If it were up to htc I'd say sure but it's not. AT&T has the final say in this. Originally htc had planned an ics update for the desire HD that was later canceled however the identical American model, the inspire 4G never even got a shot. AT&T wants you to buy a one x or one x+ so I don't see it happening

It would help greatly with cm10 development. I definitely want it. Jelly bean is a very nice update, and would speed up our phones greatly, as well as giving us a fast and stable Google now. And notifications are so much better.
Maybe the raider, velocity, or holiday might get it. Really or is unfair how carriers block these updates from us. Not giving me an update is just inconveniencing me, because I'm not going to spend money on their absurd no contract prices. And with the nexus 4 out there and me considering it heavily, they are just going to loose out on future upgrades and contracts from me.
I usually get $500 in Christmas cash every year, but still I hate spending most of it on a phone, so much other things I'd rather buy, not to mention I have credit card debt I'd like to take out. Here's hoping for a breakthrough in the next month, either an announcement for an update or a cracked ril opening the door for aosp/aokp/and cyanogenmod
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I wouldn't hold my breath, this phone bombed pretty heavily in a lot of markets. Here in Canada they were giving them away for free on contract by like, February.
We'll know whether we're getting it as soon as one a phone on AT&T gets updated to Jelly Bean. Our phone was the first phone on AT&T (and america) to receive an ICS update, and with it they announced every phone that would be getting an ICS update. So I imagine they'll follow suit with this update
No way At&t is making me a buy a phone without an sdcard slot and non removable battery, just for jellybean. The hox or hox+ ain't worth the money. I'd at least want to see sense 4 on our phone, even if it is ics.

Some people have a lot of music/movies/pics...and if they are an audiophile, or soon to be an audio phile they won't settle for anything under 320kbpseaning the average song is 10mb...so 100 songs is about 1 GB...6400 is all you can get with 64gbs...and that's if your only sticking with 320kbps, most audiophiles will go with flac which is an even bigger size...so your looking at just a couple thousand songs on 64gb, and then if you want to have a ROM or two handy, that's half a GB right there, what about some room for camera pics and videos...you'd probably want at least a gb free for that...apps? I think you get the point, for the average user 64gb is enough...but to those who will only use the highest quality music/video files cause they can hear/see the differnce between low quality ones...then 64gb isn't even close to enough....
I'm not an audiophile myself, but I'm close to being one, I have a nice pair of actual headphones, and if the music is under 320kbps I will not download or buy it...listen to an iTunes 128kbps version of a song, then listen to a 320kbps version and you'll understand why...the sound is a lot more full in 320kbps...I have a total of 46gbs on my infuse cause I have a 32gb SD card...not even close to enough, still missing quite a bit of my music, I only have 628mb free which I save for the occasion that I may need to download something...
Anyways...I guess you don't need more then 64gb, but that's one reason a lot of people would want more than 64gb, cause we are audio/video snobs lol
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
I used to have a zune 32 gig and 16-20 was all the more I ever kept it full, if you need more than that your probably not listening to all your music anyway. Every mp3 I have encoded from the cd used lame alt preset standard, variable bit rate, gives you the highest quality at the lowest size, should be good enough for anybody really.
Also until recently, the largest sd you could get was 32,so typically 48 gigs was the max you could get anyway

Hello everyone.

1st was a HTC 601 and to this day wish I still had. Simpler times. HTC would unlock your bootloader for you.
2nd was a HTC Desire 610 cause Alltell sold to AT&Crap. POS phone.
3rd is a S9. Awesome phone except unrootable. F Knox!
4th is a question. Going to get a new phone today and what should I get? Primarily used for gaming but not the crappy games. Diablo Immortal, ES:Blades, CSR2, Asphalt 8 and 9, WoWs: Blitz. Large games with demanding graphics.
Suggestions?

HTC old timer, welcome aboard!
The 601 was a sweet phone. Removable back so you carried 2 batteries so u could swap. TWRP worked great as did many different rom flavors.
Planning on heading out to get a Pixel 7 in afew are there any specific ones I need to look for? I.E. chipset manufacturer, ram, storage, GPU. Will be rooted hopefully and used primarily for gaming and browsing.
Well I picked the Pixel 7 Pro. 256Gb version as AT&T doesn't carry the 512Gb (really think they didn't know they made a 512Gb cause I had to prove it to them) FedEx delivered this morning. Wait for it...128Gb version. FUBAR I say! Always read the box b4 cutting the seals. It saved me. Now just got to waste more gas. SMFH!
Also snookered me again.. 8gb ram stread of 12. Screen on s9 definitely better. But seen a decent performance in most games
So rooting and romming on this is easier than s9 I hope might even wallow
