How to get a motomaker moto x when you live in a non-motomaker country? - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I live in a country (netherlands) where the motomaker isn't available, I really want a motomaker moto x (well at least at black front 32GB version). I can't order from the german site. I got a german postal address but it won't accept my credit card. What to do now?

The Phone House in Germany now has "stock". If you buy from them, you get a key for the Motomaker so that you can customize it. From what the poster says, you also get a free upgrade to wood or leather!
BTW: I'm shocked there isn't a thread about the new X over on Tweakers!

No, but you can just use Paypal and then have it shipped to the nearest Phone House just over the border. At least, that was an option when I went through the order process on their site.

Okay I got a german address and ordered the X but phonehouse won't email the code, they will send it via snail mail :silly:

How did you obtain a German address? According their website you can have it shipped directly to one of their stores.

I just asked someone I know who lives there and frequently comes to Holland. Unfortunately the plan didn't work. I paid for the moto x with paypal and for address on the phonehouse site I supplied the german address but instead of sending it there they sent it to the address used in my paypal account but in Germany, which of course doesn't exist :silly: I have a track and trace, DHL is at a loss :crying:

If you want to try order it from phonehouse you need to select to deliver the phone to an alternate address otherwise the code will be sent to some hybrid between your German and paypal address, even if you put a correct german address as your own address field!

[Q] Where to buy $599 HTC One unlocked with US warranty (beside HTC USA Store)?

As the subject stated, HTC USA sells the HTC One phone (UNLOCKED & with US Warranty) DIRECTLY from their website for $599, much cheaper than buying from Expansys or Amazon.
However, HTC USA only ships to the billing address of the credit card. I cannot do this because I am not home during weekdays and the package will get lost for sure. I called HTC USA Shop and they told me I cannot provide different shipping and billing address. So buying from HTC directly is out of question.
So.. anyone know?

Actually, I had originally ordered a dev version from their website. I have arranged with my credit card company to have an authorized alternate delivery address (my workplace). I called them up and they manually edited my order to go to my workplace.
I had second thoughts and went with a T-Mobile branded version (so I cancelled my order), but IIRC the order forms at LetsTalk (who actually sells for HTC) showed the new address.
Anyway, it can be done.

Go ahead and order from the HTC store, after they ship and provide tracking info go to the Fedex or UPS website and select 'customize delivery' or 'change delivery' and select 'hold for pickup' at a Fedex/UPS office near you. When the package arrives they will hold it at the office and call you, then go pick it up.

Oh wow, I didn't know you can do this for both FedEx and UPS. Thanks for the advise!
Do I have to do something special to get this customized delivery? Example:
- Pay extra?
- Need to open a business account?
Nope, doesn't cost extra. It's free because it saves the driver a trip to your home.

For UPS, there is a $5 fee to change the delivery address. Putting it on hold is no charge. You have to sign up for their premium service (don't recall what it is called), but it is free.

Because you have a profile but not a UPS shipping account number. Don't sweat it, just call them after you get tracking info, they will setup the hold.

Just a quick update - after so many days, I still don't have a "UPS Account number". At least that what is shown under "My Profile". The online account IS created though, since I can login.
Interestingly, according to this page (http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/sri/member_premium_member.html), the UPS MyChoice ALLOWS "Re-delivery to different address" for a fee.
So just clarification: for "Redelivery to different address", it looks like I have to call and no need to create an online account?

Did you read my former post? Doesn't that work for you?
I ended up getting mine from TMO (and I'm glad I did because of the AWG modem), but when I had my dev edition on order in May, I was able to call HTC and request that they ship my phone to my work address.
You have to first arrange with your credit card company to make the alternate address a valid shipping destination. After that you can use that address rather than your home address.
You do have to call HTC (how primitive!) to set up the delivery address.

[Q] Where to buy the Dev Edition?

Hello, I live in Argentina and I'm travelling in 2 weeks to the US, I wanted to buy the Dev Edition HTC One, so I got into the US HTC Online Store and bought it ( $654.94 ). Today I received an email telling me the order was cancelled. Asked why and they told me because my IP address was from outside the US and I needed a US credit card. I fought for a long time with the support and they told me I couldn't buy it.
Now I'm wondering where else I can buy the Dev Edition HTC One 64Gb and don't end up paying almost $900 for it.

You can only purchase the dev edition through the online shop with a US credit card and address. Without them, HTC would not accept your order.

I have the US address, but my credit card is international, I don't really understand why they don't let international credit cards buy phones.
Also, do you know of another way of obtaining the Dev Edition that it's not eBay (since I can't confirm my PayPal account and have the 500 dollars limit). Thanks for your data!
You could probably use some package forwarding company, such as comgateway, myus, and choose the 'buy for me' service.
The total cost including shipments should be under or nearly US$800.

Why would I need a package forwarding company? I have the address, but I need to find the way to buy it using my international credit card, any ideas? Thanks for response!
I understand your concern. However, HTC online shop accepts ONLY a US credit card. They would cancel your order if you were using an international one.
If you really want to get the dev edition, that's the only way apart from eBay. Even the retail stores, they only sell the 32GB version.

I want the Developer Edition just because of the 64Gb of storage. I've contacted Shopamerica.htc.com and I'll wait for them to answer if there's ANY chance of doing it with an international or I guess I'll just have to ask an aunt I have in the US to buy me the phone with her credit card and I'll find a way to transfer her the money. Really appreciate your responses! Thanks a lot man!
You're welcome. I hope this information will be useful to you.

Since they've subtracted the $654.94 and then refunded it to me, my aunt will try to buy it using my international credit card and check if the credit card was the initial problem or just the IP address.
Also, do someone know an online way to give her the money or to deposit that it's effective?

Thought about that but in my country we have another currency. If I buy something in dollars from eBay, I pay it in Pesos Argentinos and (I don't know if it's PayPal or the credit card bank) changes to US dollars.. I wonder if there's a way I can do that but without her having a PayPal account.

Moto X in Europe?

Hello to all, I'm from Germany and want to import a X from the US. But before I do that, I wanna ask some questions.
I already know that 3G/HSPA will work, but 4G not, that's no problem for me.
Now the questions
1. Does the Moto X use a nano Sim? (I've googled a bit and I think yes, but not quiet sure)
2. Does the Moto X comes only with English language, or am I able to change it?
So, that's it. I'm sorry if such questions are already answered.

Thanks, but this is really strange. Why does the Verizon version have more languages included than the *developer edition*. I mean the developer edition is for developing and developing needs resources...
And another question: what is the model number of the DE edition? Some webpages says xt1053 and Motorola's says xt1055 (I think).

Going to need to have someone in the U.S buy it for you. I asked the customer support and was told you need a U.S issued card to buy from Motorola. They use the AVS IIRC. I live in the Caribbean, so I had to sign up to a U.S forwarding site and use their Personal Shopper Services. Total of that for me was $470.79 USD.. Then when it arrives at the company's warehouse, I pay for the shipping to have it shipped to my International address and when it arrives to my door pay customs duty fee; which for me is 10% of the $433 (Price of the phone including tax, but does not include the company Personal Shopper 10% fee of total item cost). So all-in-all I'll pay $560 for everything.
May seem a lot, but when your friends in the U.S are unable to buy for you and you really want it this was my best route. Besides, I got a better deal than from buying from eBay or Amazon anyways, because I would of been paying the same price I did for the 16GB which no color options besides black or white. Whereas by what I did, I got the T Mobile version, Customized to my color preference and got the 32GB.
A steal for me to say the least.

I don't know the issue with that. As I was going to use comGateway. I was looking around, and when I mean around that means I looked @ every possible site that would do it and have the best prices. Most of them I was turned off by their slow customer service. comGateway being one of those and how slow their site loaded for me. And I found one called Parcelbound and I sent them tons of emails and what not, the responses and so forth were and they are always helpful. So I stuck with them and ordered. No problems what so ever. They followed my instructions and everything on how to design it and such. I will contact them tomorrow to see if there is any updates. Moto X delivery estimate was for the 24th, hoping to get lucky.
So you might want to tell that person to try them.
Reason why Moto is like that is because they too use the AVS. Which is a pain for international shoppers. I guess its to trim down on fraudulent orders and so forth.

Where to buy Moto x 2014?

Im from Philippines and i want to buy moto x 2014 but no one is selling here. Anyone can suggest a legit seller and willing to ship here? TIA

Can't you buy directly from MotoMaker?
Nope. They didn't include Philippines as shipping address
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I'd also be keen if anyone could suggest a workable way to buy the phone from Australia through either the US, UK, or europe motomaker?
The Moto X still hasn't gone on sale here, and when it does Moto Maker won't be part of the offering...so we'll be unable to customise the phone
I've actually placed an order through the US Moto Maker site, using the Comgateway freight forwarding service as my delivery address, not realising that Motorola explicitly forbid this as part of their terms of sale, suffice to say they ended up cancelling my order.
Has anyone been successful in purchasing through either US, UK or european motomaker and getting it sent internationally?
Motorola customer service actually suggested I have it shipped to a friend/family member to send on, but unfortunately I don't know anyone in the countries where moto maker is offered...if they offer this as a solution it makes me question why they have a policy of forbidding freight forwarders, but I won't get anywhere having that argument with them...

yes, I ordered through phonehouse.de, they don't check delivery address like motorola does but you will have to pay for shipping twice, one time for yor motomaker code and one time for the phone. To be honest I think that would be to expensive. All in all I paid 610 euros for the 32GB variant (phonehouse did have an offer for free premium backs though) but my GF managed to pick up a note4 for only 680euros in a dutch store, it comes with a "turbo" charger in the box and earpieces and of course the s-pen and better hardware and with lollipop around the corner many of the moto's exclusive features will be coming to other devices too. Or get a nexus 6
