Finally-- The tablet that I wanted! - Galaxy Tab S General

I loved my SM-T800, but the kind of love where you're willing to overlook little faults here and there (the small amounts of lag that people notice while others don't).
I switched over to the LTE version from Verizon a few days ago-- with the Snapdragon 800 SOC.
Lag is completely gone-- even in touchwiz (no I didn't sick with touchwiz, just wanted to confirm). Tapped Out plays perfectly. LTE reception is great. Scrolling through everything is so smooth!
$600 is expensive for any tablet; but through some lucky breaks, I paid around $350 for my non-LTE version, not including a free book cover that Best Buy threw in. I ended up selling the tablet for about $430, and I kept the cover! So net $530 for the LTE tab and cover.
If you're on the fence about this device because of some of the comments on here, I can tell you most of the complaints are rectified in the Sprint/ Verizon version.

My experience exactly. Had the Wifi 10.5, and it sucked, frankly. The Verizon LTE version is awesome.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of. They really gave the wifi version the shaft with their horrible exynos experiment.
I have a Galaxy S5 with the snapdragon and it's blazing fast, while my wifi Tab S is laggy and slow as hell.

No surprise there, Exynos lags behind the Snapdragon variant as usual. No pun intended.

Sure it has snapdragon?
Most likely improvements are just because of some software update.

i have been waiting for the Verizon version for some time and got excited when i saw it available BUT then sad when i saw it was only the 16GB version which doesnt work for me. also didnt want white but could deal with that. hoping maybe a 32GB version at some point but doubtful

I purchased the wifi 16. Returned it for the 32. Got refunded for that one and purchased the Sprint version with snapdragon. It just seems to be smoother and faster than the previous wifi only tabs. Both of my wifi units just did weird things. Ex., I would press the home key and it would send me off to google or some place unknown to my home screen. If I kept pressing the home button I would eventually get there, never did figure that one out. My other ones lagged every now and then but this didn't really bother me, I'm a patient man. I just wanted mobile data, however infrequently I will use it, but I'm glad it is there.

As stated many times, the Exynos SOC is really really bad.

long story short, who ever has the opportunitiy of buying Verizon Tab S Snapdragon 800 should go towards that direction and not the Exynos one...thanks guys i was thinking of buying with Exynos in Europe but i see that it has problems, weird is that sites seem to bypass those problems rather easily

Any evidence?
Most likely it is just software issue.
Anyway, I don't see any lag on my T705 Exynos tab.

Any development for the snapdragon version?

Anyone going to get the Galaxy S?

What does everyone think? 4" may be the sweet spot between big screen size and too big. I don't know how I feel about even less physical buttons though as I already think it is the stupidest thing ever to not have dedicated send/end, but that is just me.
Not while they've skinned Android and replaced some Google integration with Yahoo integration.
No led flash? Are you f*cking kidding me?
I like the S-AMOLED and the proper multi-touch screen. However, having used the N1, I feel that it's just about as large a smartphone as I'd like to have in my pocket.
Not having to jump through as many hoops to get it customized, rooted, unlocked, etc. is also a nice thing about being on the N1.
Why would I want that when I have an N1?

I've had a G1, and a N1, I'll wait until the next "Google" phone's out to upgrade, I think
If it gets rooted and with a stock rom i'm going for it. Samsung makes great hardware. The software sucks big time.

+10. Updates will be non existent, samsung expects you to buy a new phone if you want to update, screw that. I'll stay with nexus one.

Yeah I'm with you I'll wait for the new Nexus One every phone on T-Mobile that's made by HTC and only has stock Android is the phone Google uses for the next year. Thanks to Froyo the Nexus One has been the best Android phone until at least August when the Droid X gets 2.2 and gets a speed boost. Also you know that the Galaxy S will not get to use the free tethering that people with the Nexus enjoy. So to the original question NOPE

If it is rooted why couldn't you use wireless tether? Wow I did not think everyone would be so against it. Its already rooted though I thought.

If I upgrade phones from my Nexus One its going to be for these features:
- Vanilla android
- 4.3' screen
- Can use the same $50/mo even more plus T-mobile voice + data
I'm more than happy to play the waiting game with my Nexus One until this phone comes out...
If the guys at Samsung weren't so cheap to cut corners and actually included an led flash I might have considered the GalaxyS... but I can't support such obvious penny pinching cost cutting by Samsung
I love its GPU power and the Super-AMOLED, but for me to go from the N1 I need :
dualcore

stock android

I don't expect that for another 6 months or so, so I'll be keeping my Nexus One until then
The Galaxy S is also plasticky and ugly

The DROID 4 is upon us whether we are ready for it or not. The first pictures of it popped up a few weeks ago followed by signs pointing to it arriving on December 8. We also got confirmation that training has started for some Verizon shops, along with this set of official specs. Who knew we would see it so soon?
The D4 will have a 4″ screen (LCD or AMOLED?), 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, DROID RAZR styling, 5-row slideout keyboard, 4G LTE, front camera for video chatting and an 8MP rear camera. This could be the DROID that many of you have been waiting for. The Stratosphere had LTE and a keyboard, but this phone has top of the line specs to go with them.
On a related note, thoughts on the tool needed to remove the back cover? It doesn’t have a removable battery, but the cover can be removed using that circular tool pictured above, so that you can insert a SIM and SD card.

This is what the droid 3 should have been in the first place...Instead of opting for one standout phone though, Motorola decided to make 2 behind the curve phones in the time span of two months. They should give Droid 3 owners some kind of upgrade deal or something, that's just crazy.
edit: Did they get rid of the lip? If so, now I'm really upset, I always hated that lip at the bottom.
I strongly agree with you. The Droid 4 seems like the phone I've been waiting for the whole time. I'm quite sure Moto released the D3 with less superior hardware solely as a marketing strategy.
Too bad the battery's no longer swappable (with the exception of removing some additional covers)
I just got the droid 3 after tons of problems with the D2G. I must say, for not having paid for the phone, I'd be willing to pay for this D4. BUT, not being able to install an extended battery is a major dis. Sure the 1785mAh that this has is bigger then the 1500 the we have...but its still smaller than the 1950 the extended has. Who care how fast your phone is if its dead...

Don't buy it. Realy the droid 4 six months after the droid 3. Then there will be thr droid 5 six month after that. That's why as soon as I can I'm never going to own a carrier phone again. Its all nexus for me. Motorola has disapointed me very much . People sign the patition pn the thread abouve this one.

I KNEW IT! I knew Apple was in the Android game. Look at them, doing what they do best. Taking everything in the world, and changing 2-3 letters, and making it their 'own'. Oh Apple, you so sneakz.
Inb4 Apple sues THL for making phones that look like other phones and do things other phones already do and then adds those things so their phone can do it too.
They patented copyright and patent-infingement, only Apple can duz that.
Technology Happy Life.
That's priceless. HTC should change their name to that.
I wonder if HTC or Samsung would go after them for these.
Lol, nice find.
The 'thL' logo even resembles that HTC logo from the bootloader.
No LTE
It's even funnier that you can buy them in bulk for a discounted price. LOL

They're not once you realize that:
A. The CPU is actually terrible
B. The screen is awful despite being 1080p.
C. The software is buggy (even their screenshots have errors in the notification tray!)
D. You get essentially ZERO support from them, and in broken English!
Are all the reviews there shills?
If they aren't then these may not be half bad if you're ok with probably noisy pictures, 3G, a 2000 mAH battery (that's terrible for a 5") and pretty much (at least, I would expect) no support.
As for shipping, I found this
how much total cost i spend to receive this phone to my country and do you receive payment with paypal from indonesia?
Dear verdy,

Galaxy S5 Plus announced

Samsung just announced the Galaxy S5 Plus. Bummer I just bought my S5 about 2 months ago.. and literally just bought a Nexus 5 to play around with from the Play Store..
Features a 2.5Ghz Snapdragon 805 (underclocked from 2.7GHz found in Note 4)
Significantly faster memory bandwidth
Upgraded GPU (presumably a Adreno 420)
Faster LTE (advance 300Mbps).
Anyone here tempted to upgrade? Im wondering what the overall performance is like compares to S5 and Note 4.
http://www.neowin.net/news/samsung-reveals-the-galaxy-s5-plus-the-worlds-fastest-android-smartphone
Don't c a need to upgrade any further unless they improve the display and add more ram...And stop with all the dang lockdown on their phones ...if it wasn't for HTC so called ultra pixel camera I would jump to them ..
Do not buy plus phones, they will not be prioritized. Look at the s4 plus and its update history.

OxygenOS 9.5.7 update available for 5G model

There's a new update our for the 5G variant, 9.5.7
It adds very little and quite frankly is a bit of a disgrace - this "update" is still the June path level and to make matters worse the feature disparity between the 4G & 5G is widening!

Which do you think is the majority device? Yeah so that's the one they'll dev for first. That's the risk of getting into technology at launch, exactly why I didn't bother with the 5g version, wait until it's properly bedded in and the norm.

Apparently there's an ongoing issue with the patch they were going to release, hence the delay. If it was me, I'd be happier with a working phone than an updated, mebbe insecure, mebbe glitchy phone. They have said the patch will be coming soon, presumably to bring it to parity with the 4G models.

I told them the phone wasn't fit for purpose as advertised features still didn't work properly, and the continued lack of updates made me question whether they ever would.
OnePlus' silence when it comes to answering queries or support tickets about the 5G is inexcusable - they clearly aren't interested in this phone variant, and I doubt it will ever gain parity with the (lesser) 4G variant.
I'm either going to get a Note 10 or Mate 30 when they're available - I know the Note 10 can do 5G and I almost guarantee that the Mate 30 will too!
How can you go to 60Hz after using 90Hz? I went to a local phone shop to see the Note 10(+), but just because of its 60Hz screen I wouldn't buy it. Period. It just feels sluggish and laggy. All the animations feel as if they are capped because of the 60Hz display.
