[MOD][KK] Amazing Sound Mod for the Z2 (Make your Z2 sound like the M8!) - Xperia Z2 Android Development

Hello,
this is the M8 DSP mod ported from the EXR.Fredom Z2 Rom.
Enjoy
Tested on:
- Z2 using eXistenZ 2.0.0
My Tip: Works best with the soft-soundboost from eXistenZ
Please leave some feedback how it works, and if it works on CM (what I tbh doubt)
Edit: Updated. Should work now (atleast with the Walkman App)
Updated to 1.3.2!

Does it works on stock 4.4.2? Build .314

This mod is awesome. Thank u for porting. Tested on Sennheiser Cx 300 II, Sony Mdr XB920 and Monster DNA. Sounds more powerful. I've been waiting for the acid mod, but it's no longer necessary.

is this for the speakers or headphones?

Anyone mind comparing it with Viper4Android?

What resampling/upsampling algorithm is used?
What output frequency is supported?
Is it possible to select 44.1 KHz input for applications and output will be upsampled to 192KHz (as supported audio output frequency by Snapdragon 800/801)?
As always im wondering if this mod is doing something good to audio or just some mumbu-jumbo eq effects.
If you specify this i will install this and compare resampling quality to stock firmware and I will post frequency graphs and audio aliasing analysis

+1 to this!

Didn't notice any differences, tested with Mh1-c and eXistenZ 2.0.0 - soft-soundboost mod.

Tested but not convinced, I prefer the Sony sound.
Thanks for the share.

The samplerate(and else) can be changed in the build.prop.
@the ones who hear no difference, try to Disable V4A for speakers and be sure Lowprofile audio is not disabled.

You can put anything in build.prop but this does not mean that this value will change anything.
If you can stand behind your statement please tell us what value add to build prop for best quality from your mod.

It should
@qbic2 You can try to use these settings, which I am using
AUDIODRIVER=alsa
ro.sound.driver=alsa
av.offload.enable=true
av.streaming.offload.enable=true
ro.sony.wm.dseehx_bin_path=/vendor/etc/ICX1240_HP_HX.bin
ro.sony.wm.dseehx_dcfg_path=/vendor/etc/ICX1240_HP_HX.dcfg
audio.converter.samplerate.preferred=libsamplerate
audio.converter.samplerate.libsamplerate.quality=best
audio.offload.buffer.size.kb=64
audio.offload.gapless.enabled=true
defaults.pcm.rate_converter=samplerate_best
lpa.decode=false
lpa.releaselock=false
lpa.use-stagefright=false
tunnel.decode=true
tunnel.audiovideo.decode=true
persist.htc.audio.pcm.samplerate=96000
persist.htc.audio.pcm.channels=2
htc.audio.global.state=0
htc.audio.global.profile=0
htc.audio.q6.topology=1
htc.audio.global.speaker=1
htc.audio.srs.defaultbundleHS=MAX300
Just paste them and remove the others

Flashed on stock, no hearable differences, I will post frequency sweep graphs in a moment.
Using Sony Walkman app.
Freq sweep:
M8 mod
http://overlay.no-ip.org/sony/audio/m8_dsp_sweep.png
Stock:
http://overlay.no-ip.org/sony/audio/Z2_sweep_walkman.png
audio resampling artifacts seems to be little lower with m8 mod:
http://overlay.no-ip.org/sony/audio/m8_udial.png
Stock:
http://overlay.no-ip.org/sony/audio/udial_walkman_z2.png
Using neutron player - no changes at all.
Output frequency is still 48KHz even if I add 96000 to build prop - it only affects resampler.

I downloaded the version with Dolby, but I never use it. The X-loud feature can't be used with Dolby at the same time, and I prefer the extra volume over some equalizer presets that don't sound any better than stock.

Try them all and see which one you like best. It only takes a minute to flash the file and reboot your phone.

We can not create music variety in Oneplus3t, there is no way we can increase bass or mid range..

For now if you wanna listen music just use MIUI ROM because for now, most custom rom have a bad sound bug if use headphones uses jack port. For Bluetooth i don't know tho, i never use a Bluetooth headphones before so i can't tell, but i think the bug will affect Bluetooth too.
There is a great sound mod called "Ainur Sauron"
Here is the link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/soundmod-ainur-audio-t3450516
You just have to flash it, no need to setup anything else
I don't think it is compatible with MIUI
So you can try flashing it on a custom ROM
I've been using it for a while now, and my audio output improved greatly.
Hope this helps

Are you on earphones when the volume lowers? If so, maybe the V4A setting called "auditory system protection" causes it. Also, disable notification sounds/enable silent mode while you are playing music, or change the Poweramp audio focus setting (Poweramp -> settings -> audio -> untick Short Audio Focus change)
I used to have the same problem as you, when I was using Xtreme music mod and Dolby Atmos.

Can i flash this over dolby atmos? I need louder sound quality especially for dialogues through speakers. Dolby is already doing a great job. Should this one do any improvement? Or should i uninstall dolby and flash this? Need louder sound on speakers

This mod is compatible with all other audio mods, but make a backup of your system in case anything goes wrong. Try flashing it over your Dolby
I tried flashing Ainur first then Dolby, the Dolby app crashed.

Are you rooted with Magisk? You can get ROG audio mod V1 as a muddle to enjoins) enhance the sound. Not sure about viper or dolby, others may have that info, personally I don't use me phone for music much so haven't experimented
i made a post on another thread. i think it was on pixelify one. posted a short tutorial how to get fuller sound.
also i've found one convolver for james dsp that gives perfect sound. those convolver files are the same that viper use and you can easily find a zip file full of them. then search for the "Waves MaxxBass + WavesRBass (Speakers)". you can try the headphone profile if the previous one distorts the sound.

I cant find this module on magisk

Themes / Apps / Mods [Magisk module] sweet hifi enabler

Hello,
I created this module to unlock the maximum sample rate and bit depth on the Redmi Note 10 Pro. That being 192kHz/24-bit. It should also disable downsampling and some compression.
It works only for USB audio output and wired headphones/earbuds.
This is my first magisk module and therefore there may be a lot of room for improvement.
It will disable audio effects like Dolby.
Let me know how it works for you.
Thanks!

Probably, since V4A's drivers only support 44.1khz/16bits or 48khz/24bits, the changes might make V4A's drivers fail. JamesDSP, which is another audio mod similar to viper might support this high sample rate being enabled though. Or the newer reversed engineer V4A might.

Here, the Reversed Engineered one: https://github.com/AndroidAudioMods/ViPER4Android
The repackaged is still using the old V4A drivers, which again, still down samples the audio and would not play hi-res audio.
Here's a note from the JDSP Discussions Group in Telegram:
"Viper4Android enforces sampling at 16-bit 48kHz, while JamesDSP supports most known formats. This means that V4A will not allow lossless playback of media in any other format and will downsample HiFi tracks."
Which is true for the old, closed-source drivers of V4A. A thing to note is that it is still a work-in-progress and most features of the original V4A is still not available like vdc and irs.
Do you know any app or way to check the sample rate/bit depth? Just installed the module and I'd like to check if everything is working fine.

Just tested with Xiaomi.EU 14.02, the sample rate works well in most applications, however with Tidal I have some issues with Dolby Atmos songs having no sound. I will look for a solution by reinstalling the module.

You might be able to enable Dolby temporarily via the control center, if you add the Dolby icon; alternatively via the video toolbox feature. I noticed this earlier today.
