[Q] Did I miss something or...? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can we record audio on our device when there is no recording ap? Unless I'm blind and missed it.
I know that I can download an ap to record, but that's not the point of course.

Usually, the voice recorder is part of the small apps you see when pressing the button for the task switcher.

I would be glad if Sony wouldn't bundle anything with the phone, so I can install whatever I want and don't have redundant apps.
Why would I need a voice recorder when I install OneNote anyhow?

Yeah that's the first place I checked, but it's not there.
I see sound recorder as an essential ap, not that I ever use it, but still it can be really handy at times.
It's like saying: Why would Sony include a camera ap when you'll use another ap to take pictures.

I found the Sound Recoder App to be included in the German (DE) .98 but not in the English (UK) .105 build. Don't ask me why. However, the one packed in the DE build is nothing but the one you can get from the PlayStore.

flashlight when camera starts

does anyone know how to enable the light on the back to automatically come on when the camera starts. Right now i have to click on the screen then click settings then click flash light, i would just like to skip all that. thanks
up and up and up
This feature would actually make the camera act like a camera....lol
Really wish HTC and Microsoft would finish their programs. It seems like they start it and quickly make everthing work....sort of.....lol

to go left or right you actually need to click between the buttons (ex. between home and call) there is actually a youtube video teaching people how to do it.

well you are correct, it still hit the ok if i go fast but i can live with that but i still want my flash to come on when the camera comes on
thanks for the tip and making me look stupid lol
for athena it is not a setting in registry. just DeviceIoControl calls to set led on and off, while camera program is running. i wouldn't be surprised if touch pro is the same :/
in that case easiest i could think of is make a small app that does:
1) look in registry for setting if flashlight should be on or off when starting camera
2) load driver (or the camera api dll) and send the ioctl for ON if the registry value is set so
3) then it would launch the camera exe and then exit
4) whole thing would be registered in place of camera program for programs etc
(or patch camera app but that would be a bit more than a couple of bytes long patch. )

I don't think it polls the light sensor unless somethings wrong with mine cause i just went into a dark room waited about 30sec then turned on the camera and no flash unless i turned it on manually

I was implying that if someone could write a script or something that they could poll the light sensor to see if it was dark. Then tell the camera to turn on the flash.....lol
That's what i wish would happen. Thanks for testing it out though...lol

What about skipping the polling and just having the flash on every time the camera is on day or night. Girls love a flash going off.
Maybe there is a command line for this?

Is there a rom/cab/file/tweak that gets the cameras flash to work automatically as opposed to having to manually turn it on - this is silly!

it's semi-automatic if you turn it on, it's only lighting half's its power. When you take a shot it's flashes
However, you're absolutly right, we need more options
nope, i couldnt find it. In the past there was an other HTC model (dont remember which one) who also had a flash light but also didnt work aswell.
This is in development right now. There is a thread regarding this. I am just to lazy to search for it today.
cool well its good to know its in development, i cuoldnt find it either - Xperia has the saem problem
strange really but hope they sort it out its time cnsuming and annoying - seeingas we are able to use things like Htorch i cant see it being a big deal unfortunately i cant cook otherwise id be on it

Problem with that is you can't use it in pop up. Which I need for work. Main reason I buy devices with multi task/window. Hopefully someone will figure it out.

I've been able to somewhat narrow it down on my phone. I have accessibility turned on for both Pebble & Lastpass. If I turn both of those off my calculator will stop talking. Turn them back on & it's back at it

Ya I usually root my devices but I usually wait a couple weeks before doing so. But with no lag finally on a Samsung device in not sure if I will. Even though I probably will[emoji2]
Turned lastpass off and stopped talking. #confirmed
Turned off accessibility to augmented pro and calc stopped talking.
Don't have people or last pass and its still talking. Also other people reporting this issue are having problems with the s voice voice feedback greyed out in s voice settings. Turned out it was greenify for me. Uninstalled and calculator stopped talking and svoice started to. Hope this helps someone.
I had the same problem and have fixed it. I just went into applications
manager and force stopped Samsung text-to-speech engine. The calculator is no longer talking back to me. :good:
Yeah I have that problem too. I have tried everything mentioned here and it still keeps talking. It is not usable this way.
Update. Found out the problem. I am using the LG Bluetooth headphones and the BT reader app. I had to go in to accessibility and under services turn off the BT reader.

This is a modified dialer apk, and root is NOT required. All credit for this goes to those mentioned in the original OP.
I know this is in the S6 forums, but it is confirmed (by me) working on G5.

Works great. Thank you
Does this app actually make the call or is it just a dialer that opens the LG app soon as you hit send? I'm just looking for a solution to the stock app because it turns hot pink when you hang up... It's the only thing about this phone that I don't like. It's driving me crazy ?

Goto Settings > Apps > *Touch the 3 dots in the top right corner* and select Configure Apps > Default Apps > Phone App > *Select the Google Dialer. It will be listed as simply "Phone"
I have not tested this for incoming calls just yet, but for outgoing, it will skip the stock dialer completely. Hope this helps.

It's more visually pleasing? For people who really want a stock Google experience, it's one more thing to get you closer to that. With this and the Contacts app installable from APK Mirror, I'm officially using all the stock Marshmallow apps for everything but my Exchange email.

I find the LG dialler requires more finger presses. But I'm coming from the Song Xperia dialler.
New call: Go to dialler. Possibly not on the call tab so click that. Start to type name and some suggests come up. Click on the [v]. Select the person/number to call. And now the bit that annoys me, press the call button. If I click on number why not just call them, why show number and wait for me to press another button?
Call back: So I missed a call. Go to dialler, go to call logs, click on the call I missed. Show the contact details. WTF? So now I click the phone icon and call. Yes I know there is a little call icon but I'm used to clicking a phone number and it dials it. Not have to locate one tenth of the call log line to start a call.
Anyway, I'll get used to it but I do think I have to do more work for simple calls versus other diallers.
Wow. That is as clear and concise an answer as I could ask for. I wish my wife would answer simple questions like that, but I have to ask her twenty follow-up questions just to get an answer to the first one! So, I do see what you mean, and I have found it at least a little annoying myself. I guess I just accepted it as the way it is. Never really thought to look for a different dialer, but by golly it just might be worth a look now. Thanks for taking the time to give such a thorough answer. I hope you type much faster than I do, but I use Swype keyboard.
Does the original Dialer needs to be uninstalled first before installing Google-Dialer 3.00?
-> If yes, where to get that original Dialer found and uninstalled?
How about if Google-Dialer will be updated in future to 3.xx?
- Auto-Update or manual update needed?
- Link to webside to be able to always have the latest version installed?
Thx
It's crashing on me. Where can I get one that works?
Sent from my LG-H830 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Ive had no issues with this. Been using it for a week or so & has been flawless.
Also been working for me with no issues. Combined with the Google Contacts app and then Calendar, Clock, and Calculator, throw an icon pack into Nova, and I seriously feels like I'm stock. Very very happy.
as soon as i click on the icon i get "Unfortunately, Phone has stopped" message.
There are several versions out there. It would be helpful if ya'll would specify which version is or is not working. I am running the 2.05.07_rc4 with no issues. I haven't tried the 3.0 version yet.

[GUIDE] Enable Call Recording for Incoming/Outgoing calls

I've been using the Asus Zenfone Max M! Pro for almost a year now and there is one common problem that almost every Zenfone owner I knew has come across - the absence of call recording in the default phone app. This can be a serious annoyance especially if you're a person like me who tends to zone out during calls (or if you're super paranoid).
I tried a lot of apps from the play store, read multiple guides online =, bothered a lot of people with testing calls to FINALLY come up with this guide. Here, I now disclose the one app that worked for me, on my Zenfone Max M1 Pro (Stock ROM, no modifications).
If you want to enable call recording on your phone, download ACR (even the free version works) and grant it the necessary permissions to run. Then, simply start making calls and Voila!
All of the recordings will be saved in a folder of your choice. I'm recommending this app because it's the only one that worked (in my case at least). Other apps I tried were - Call recorder by Skyvalex, Automatic Call Recorder Pro (Similar name to this app, but doesn't work ), auto call recorder, cube call recorder and a couple others.
If there's any other app that worked for you, mention it's name in the thread below and I'll verify and include that in the post as well (with credits).
Hope you find this helpful. Hit the Thanks button below, if you do
Cheers!

Please do let me know if any workaround to make 'ACR' to record voice of other party on a device running 'Android Pie'.

Android Pie and above call recording feature will not work unless the rom is rooted or it is custom built.

Skvalex says in your system has to be built-in call recording function.
I permit every permissions and battery unrestricted. And skyvalex settings ... Normal stuff...I think key is use Samsung call recorder... Good luck...
