[Q] Dialpad touch tones? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have "Dialpad touch tones" enabled in Sound settings but there's no sound when I dial phone numbers.
Anyone else notice this?
I figured it out. I had to crank up my Ringtones & Notifications volume.

Hm weird. For me they are working as expected. Have you tried the usual, restarting, clearing cache etc?
For me the smart dual function wasn't working out of the box. Had to factory reset to get it working.

Reset didn't work. I guess I'll do without it. Don't want to factory reset for this issue if I can help it.
Thanks.

Phone ring gone

Dear All,
For reason unknow, the phone ring gone. Vibrate mode work and if i select ring mode, vibrate comes out.
Have try the system setting. The ringtone function test mode also gone. No test tone can be played even for the default ring tone.
Any suggestion you can give me ? Hard resetting?
Thanks in advance
usually when my sound stops working i just have to soft reset so try that and also maybe a different ringtone
is this another of those headphone issues?
plug in and out your headphones several times, the X1 might think they are connected so doing this might solve it.
or just try turning the system volume up using the volume keys
thanks will try so, if not, then hv my first hard reset !!!
Might also be file associations ...
My ringtone went silent and when I looked with a file explorer app all my mp3's were missing an association (clicking the file did not play it but gave a message saying no application is associated)
My solution was to restore the association -I used SKTools
Just thought it might be that ...worth a try
hard reset solve the problem and i also downloaded the latest software from se, now i can use EDGE to surf, much faster internet speed than before (can't remember the software version, but worth a try 2)
Bump
I have had the same issue for the last 2 days. I have tried everything I could think of and hard reset is not an option. Maybe someone has an idea about what's wrong?
Test mode doesn't work.
When I click "ok" to set the ringtone our favourite four-coloured wheel pops up, spins for a couple of seconds and then it reverts back to the ringtone settings screen.
I deleted my most recent apps and games. I tried different sound files, checked the associations, cleared all the junk from the phone, etc, etc.
Official UK R3A ROM.
Facing the same problem previously.
What I did is increase the volume for both device & phone in speaker icon.
Noticed that I set the phone volume to the lowest range previously.
1. Device icon is for notification such as when you receive text msg.
2. Phone icon is for ringer volume.
Just tap on the speaker icon & you will see it.

lolz. That's the first thing we try.
I found that PhoneEx wasn't agreeing with the defaukt phone manager haha. Set the ringtone through the default manager as well, that is the solution. You can always uninstall PhoneEx, but I like it too much.
i have the same problem and found out that the media player cannot playback my sound files as well. The strange thing is, that i can play all the ringtones and sounds with the mort player...???
So it seams that the problem is caused by the media player, if i try to start the media player directly it doesn´t work either (without any error message).
Anyone an idea to solve the problem?
Many thanks in advance,
Hakamuri
One month ago, my X1 went back from support (case crack) but I noted that all sounds were gone (ring, music, etc): so they repaired the case but caused problem to the speaker. Of course it's in warranty and they fixed their fault: ready in only 2 days.
msolcia... did u kno what they did to fix it? i have same prblm after replacing my case....

Stopped ringing - avoid hard reset?

My O2 XDA Ignito (Touch Diamond) has stopped ringing. No ring or vibrate on incoming calls, despite these being enabled. Selecting to change the ringtone gives me a preview which the sound works fine on. No selected ringtone will work though. It doesn't work after a soft reset.
Didn't stop working after anything other than normal use. Have the standard ROM and Slide To Unlock and a few other programs but otherwise pretty standard.
Anyone know of a quick fix avoiding a hard reset?
Im not sure about the Ignito but i had the same on my Orange Diamond and it turned out, quite simply, to be the ring volume setting in the settings menu. Scroll all the way along to the last but one tab and its under the sound settings. Ive noticed that mine has a tendency after while to set itself to zero, it seems to be after its been set to silent for a period of time!

There is no ringtone when receiving a call HELP!

Every sound on my phone works except when I am receiving a call. The volume is all the way up, I did a soft reset, changed different ringtones multiple times. I did all I could think of. I'm hoping someone on this board will know what to do? Please help. Thanks.

[Q] RevoltROM and ringtones - still issues

I have the RevoltROM 1.5 installed on my Revolution - everything seems great except I still cannot get my ringtones to work, even after adding the /Media/audio.. folders onto my SDcard.
I get the vibration, I can see and set the ringtones, but nothing seems to work.
Can someone point me in the right direction??
Very silly question, but flashing the rom sometimes sets my phone to silent. have you turned the sound back on?
I double-checked, even set it to silent then reset to hear sounds, but still nothing. I even started a Police Scanner app, sound works fine on that as well as hearing everything else on the phone (including when I'm selecting a ringtone). Can't get a "default" ringtone to work or a ringtone for a specific contact

Have you tried reflashing the rom?

Like I said, it was a silly question. I assumed you had tried the obvious, but thought I would chime in, just in case... Hope reflashing the rom fixes it for you!
Strange, I had "Enhanced Roaming Indication" checked in "Sounds" - I unchecked it and I now have a working ringtone. I still don't have individual ringtones working, but at least I can hear the phone ring now

[Q] Atrix HD stays silent when changing from vibrate/silent mode back to "sound on"

[Q] Atrix HD stays silent when changing from vibrate/silent mode back to "sound on"
Wondering if anyone else has this problem.
My Atrix HD's volume doesn't turn on if I've had the phone in silent or vibrate mode and then turn the volume back on.
I've used both the switch on the lockscreen and changed modes by holding the power button, but it makes no difference.
My phone tells me that the sound is on and I've used the volume rocker to crank it up, and check my volume levels in the settings menu and they all tell me that the phone should be making noise.
There is no sounds for the ringer, notifications, nor alarms. Media volume still works if I'm listening to music or watching a video.
I have to reboot my phone and then I magically have sounds again. It's more frustrating than anything.
Any input is appreciated!
have you tried a factory reset?

Arrrgh. I was trying to avoid going this route. My Atrix HD is the Bell version on JB and there's no way to root it yet. That means no Titanium Backup to make my life easy.
I'll bite the bullet tomorrow and report back.
No such luck. Factory reset, reinstalled everything and it's still got the same problem. Damn this phone. lol
