Is there a way to have speed dial that I'm not seeing? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I looked through all the settings/options I could find and I tried to long press the button but I can't get speed dial to work.
Is it perhaps controlled by some App I may have accidentally uninstalled with TiBu?
Thanks

That's strange. It should come up by either long press on any number in the dialer (except "1" of course) or via the menu of the dialer. At least I have no issues over here., works as expected.

When I long press it just sits there doing nothing. Is there a chance that unlocking the bootloader could have screwed this up? That seems like it wouldn't be possible though.
What does your menu from the dialer screen look like? Here is what I have...

Fresh out of the box it doesn't work for me either.

Well, I feel better that I didn't break it (because I certainly broke some other random things by uninstalling apps). But it seems ridiculous that there is no speed dial. I seem to remember this from loading an AOSP rom to my s4... seemed stupid then... still seems stupid now...

I had the same issue with smart dial when I first started up the device. Before setting it up completly I did a factory reset and that did the trick. After the reset the speed dial was working perfectly.

Really? Factory reset fixed speed dial not working? That's just bizarre...
Seems like more of a pain than it's worse since I just spent 3 straight days getting everything just how i like it.

Speaker Problem

Last week I updated my x1 to WinMo 6.5. Okay, so no problems, nothing really as a big deal. And then just last night my speaker/mic stopped working almost all together.
People can hear me, very faintly, if I yell at the top of my lungs.
Now I doubt it's 6.5 doing this, but just letting everyone know that it's there.
Any solutions? It's not call volume or anything like that, I've turned every volume knob up to the max and still no good.
Reflashing back to WM 6.1 is free and will help confirm whether it is a hardware or software problem.
Yeah, I guess I'll probably try that, it's sort of what I was thinking too.
Before reflashing, try a hard reset. (since you're going to lose data anyway from the reflash)
It might be a 3rd party app that's causing the problem.
Now, I just started getting into this whole "scene" here if you will . So how exactly do I hard reset?
And could anybody give a link to a page to downgrade?

Easiest way is 'Start > Settings > System' then 'Clear Storage' it'll be like it was whne you pulled it out of the box. You'll lose your contacts, messages, apps anything else you've done it it since 1st turning it on.
Back-up what you want to keep 1st.
Oops, I'm wrong, you installed 6.5 on it. Sorry.
So, I downgraded it back. Speaker still does not work, and now the screen goes blank when I slide it up. Any thoughts?
I had the problem that when I slide screen up the screen goes off. I sent back to sony and the replacement they sent is also broken! Now no one can her me when i talk. I tried to record a soundclip and its just fuzz.

[Q] Please help: trackball constantly registering clicks even if not pressed

Hey guys
I tried to search but I haven't found anyone with this particular problem:
Today I had to swap the SIM card on my dad's N1. I must have touched something the wrong way since after doing so, it seems the trackball is constantly being pressed (even though it's not).
Here's some of the consequences of this, that are making me literally freak out:
1. I can't get into recovery (as soon as I do, a click is registered on "Reboot phone).
2. It only boots in safe mode
3. Navigating around the phone is almost impossible, opening up the app drawer immediately launches an app.
By hitting a text input field, I can observe how it's registering clicks really fast (by observing how the whole text field is selected/deselected)
I tried fiddling a bit with the trackball, long pressing it, clicking it, etc, but it's still a no go (long pressing it does register as a long press, but as soon as I let go, the constant clicking continues)
Seeing as how this happens whether or not after the ROM has booted, it looks like this is a hardware problem.
Has anyone run into something like this before? Any ideas on how to fix this myself?
I don't know if sending it to HTC is an option because of two reasons:
1. I live in Costa Rica, don't know if there's HTC support here, or if it'd be safe shipping the phone to the states for a repair.
2. My dad's N1 is rooted, but bootloader hasn't been unlocked. It's running a custom rom. Right now I'm not sure if I can't get it back to stock since I can't even get into recovery.
Please help! Thanks
I had this exact problem for about a day or so it turns out I had got the trackball wet try clicking it and rolling it also try giving it a day or two it might just come back good luck on your nexus
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Turns out you were right!
I left it sitting for a day, turned it on and the problem was still there. I got a hair dryer and used it on the phone for like a minute, turned it on, and all is good now!
Thanks!
Problem has come back and won't go away now... definitely looks like a hardware issue, will call HTC support.

Camera Not Working

So today i tried to take a pic and i opened up the camera app and it said loading... then just went back to home screen.
I rebooted the phone and same thing was happening. Anyone know what could be wrong? I'm thinking of doing a hard reset, but question...where do all my contacts get saved to? Or is there a way to restore them?
Thanks in advance.
I have had the faceboook app / marketplace etc not working and reboot has always solved the problems
I guess MS is not so good with handling multiple apps as they say..
regardless have you tried opening the camera with the hardware camera button? cause I normally use that and not the app button..
there is a possibility you loose your contacts... as for me my contacts are synced with google so i always get them back once i log in
thats a feature in android and i was happy MS has introduced google contacts to link with live.

I am experiencing the same issue as well, I recently bought my HD7 off of eBay, everything works great except for the usual earth-wide annoyances such as:
+ Horrible speaker volume,
+ Wi-fi cuts off when lock screen engages....
When I try to start up my HD7's camera either through the software (applications list) or the hard key, it comes up as loading....then quickly vanishes and I'm put back to the main menu.
I'm looking around the internet for possible fix but still nothing, here's what I've tried:
+ Hard reset, same issue comes up
+ Emailed HTC Customer service: Still waiting on response.
HD7 looks and performs great in my opinion and I'm now looking forward to the big Microsoft Update before I give up and head for another HD7 (risky considering this might be hardware, grr!!) or moving back to ANDROID...yeah, I love open source, can crack that

No notification light

So the light works when charging, so that rules out a hardware issue (i also did the hardware test from the dialer and it was fine). However, I have the settings enabled and it doesn't work for anything. Tested both gmail and sms. Nothing. I do have 8sms installed and use that as my sms app, but I tried reenabling the stock prone and still nothing. Any ideas?

Happened to me too. Here's what I found....doing a master factory reset (power down phone, hold volume down and power at same time), if skipping through all the screens, not setting up any accounts, then they worked. If I was to master factory reset and setup accounts ie. mail, google, etc. rather than skipping, that's what was borking the lights. Tested 3 times to verify. So my recommendation is to master factory reset and skip through all of the setup options. Reboot phone and then go in and setup your accounts and you should be good! Let me know if the same thing happens to you.

Yup. Fixed it. Went though and did the HTC setup, but skipped adding google account or anything else (skipped dropbox just to be safe) and it works now. Now I just have to get everything just so again. Yay for me. Thanks for the help though. Someone should really make a sticky about this or PSA or something so people that do resets to fix 4.3 weirdness (like I did) don't have to go through yet another reset.

Sweet! Glad it worked for you, crazy thing is I bought the phone Saturday and it did this behavior before I even took the update. That phone did other weird things to. After the last factory reset it blew the camera! When in Zoe mode, try to take a picture and it would force close. Got fed up and exchanged for new one. The second one had no 4g period! Reprovisioned and all that good stuff, but no 4g anywhere. Went to a different store being as I was 2 for 2 so far to get another one. They verified no 4g, gave me another and all is good! Guess 3rd time was a charm, no weirdness with this one at all...bad ass phone to say the least! Glad I went back to HTC.

Keyboard on Home Screen

Searched the forum but didn't see anyone having the same problem I do.
Just got the Note a few days ago but I have an annoying problem. Whenever I exit and app or unlock the phone to the home screen, the keyboard will just pop up by itself. It'll go away when I hit the back button.
I've tried removing all widgets and apps from the home screen and it still shows up.
Does anyone else have this problem or know of a solution? Thanks.
i dont know on that one.
I had a similar problem with android in general.
Normally i would have the keyboard out and type something then hit back or home and the keyboard would still be there until i hit back again.
Happens a few times here and there on a few different phones.
But it seems like your saying its happening all the time?
Try to clear out the cache and see if that helps it.
Also check the ram on the phone and see if there is any apps staying in the memory that could be the cause. (3rd parts apps)

I just rebooted for the first time since getting the phone. The problem has seemed to go away.... for now. Should have done that before creating a new thread lol.
