It depends on if your phone has 4.4.2 already, and if you can unlock your bootloader.
If you have 4.4.2 on your phone already and can not unlock your phone's bootloader, you can't root.
If you can unlock your bootloader, then see THIS THREAD
If you can't unlock your bootloader, and have 4.4 or lower on your phone then see the SLAPMYMOTO thread

It is totally possible, but you'll have to unlock your bootloader, on 4.4.2 there's no way of rooting without doing it

If you can unlock your bootloader, your set! If you can't, not happening. Sorry.
You can try the Chinese fellow who is selling unlock codes, if yours can't be at moto site. 45 dollars. If your phone is on his list.
Good luck!
Thank yall. Ill see what i can do :good:

You need to read each sections titles in the link above. You'll find your situation if you read them carefully. ?
i believe your situation is, you can't root anything over android 4.4.2.

All of the devices that GOT 4.4.3 -- they can all have their BL unlocked. All rootable.
Remember: the only devices that CAN'T be bootloader unlocked (officially, at least) are Verizon (non-dev), AT&T, and Republic Wireless. All the others can be rooted regardless of android version.

[Q] Republic wireless unlock bootloader/root?

Motorola doesnt authorize the republic wireless variant to be unlocked, are there any 3rd party programs that can unlock it? I looked into sunshine but the exploit checker claims mine cant be unlocked via their method so that options out.

I have a 2013 Moto X v1 (rooted via RockMyMoto) running 4.2.2 jellybean. I've recently been looking into SunShine since RW should be releasing lollipop for the 2013 soon. My SunShine compatibility test showed "Compatible!"
Do you have a v2 Moto X?

This is the v2 forums! Not the 2013.
There is no other way to unlock it, if sunshine failed, sorry nothing you can do.

Need root method

Hey does anyone have a one click root method for the moto x 2014 (XT1092)? Don't wanna manually root it coz I'd probably stuff something up, thanks.
Currently, there is no one click root method for moto x 2014, and as I can see, there won't be any.
The ONLY way for us to root is by unlocking the bootloader, installing twrp and root using supersu or something like that.
Kingroot brags about that they can root android 5.1 but when you try with our phone, you get failed/there is no strategy method available.
As far as I know, you have xt1092 so you are able to unlock your bootloader. I have verizon's xt1096 and I can't do that , and probably won't be at all.

Have you tried getting Motorola to unlock your xt1096? It seems there have been quite a few people successfully unlocking their carrier branded Moto X 2014. I can't comment on whether or not it is true since I have XT1095, but I'm just saying......

Well, I've done that already a year ago... Motorola made it available to unlock the xt1096 bootloader.
I moved to Galaxy s7 already so it's not relevant for me but thanks!
