Nokia X2 android backlight keys - X2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought this phone, at first I thought that this phone doesnt have backlight on it's home and back keys, so it doesnt light in dark environment
But after reading a thread where some pakistani asked the same thing, but the video link is invalid
Further search using google, I failed to find a video review where the keys light, nor do I found any infos about the backlight keys
I began to wonder whether this phone has backlight on it's home and back keys
Anyone could shed a light on this matter ?

Button Lights

Hi. Just bought a Kaiser after moving on from my old Hermes.
Seems like there are a few differences in the way the button lights operate. It seems that when a call or SMS/alert comes in the button lights (call end/pickup etc) do not come on - only the screen light does.
Does anyone know how to make these lights come on as well?
Cheers.
No-one else have this problem?
I concur this is true, but I don't know how one would solve it. To me it isn't a problem.
Not a problem here either...
...Just press the OK button under the THUMP WHEEL when you get a call if you need the buttons to light up.
TEC
Now this is probably me missing an obvious setting BUT - I liked to set my Hermes to have the keyboard lit up all the time when open. But I've tried various combinations of settings and cannot get the Kaiser's to stay on. In pitch darkness I fumble a bit as it goes off after only a few seconds and anyway I like that blue glowy keyboard even in daylight (not as bright as Hermes though ) Anybody got a setting to make it stay on??
Mike
Oooh I like asking newbie questions again
bump up

I have posted on this subject both here and at Modaco (See my Front panel lights post) and no one seems to reply so I can only assume that no one can find a solution.

QWERTY Keyoboard Lights ????

Hi,
Received my brilliant brilliant kaiser today. Every penny worth an upgrade from trinity apart from a slight brick feeling.
I was wondering if someone knows how to keep QWERTY keyboard lights on all the time while you are using the keyboard. At the moment they stay on for few seconds when keyboard is opened, but turns off later and don't turn on even on pressing keys unless you close and open the keyboard. It would be helpful to type in dark if backlight on keyboard keys stay on as long as keyboard is open.
thanks
heh i use the low tech way, i put my finger over the light sensor
I am wondering the same thing. There is an option for "Automatic keyboard auto sensor" for the backlight under "Settings....Buttons....Backlight" but haven't been able to get it to work. Where is the light sensor? I could possibly go high tech and put tape over it!
Update:
In the Registry, navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER...Control Panel....Backlight....QKeyLedTimeout
and change the default value from 10(seconds) to something high eg. 180 (3 minutes).
This will keep the backlight on for the specified amount of time.

so say you only need the keyboard for 1 min, when you slide it shut does it stay lit for the other 2 min or go off when closed?
One last update....the above registry mod actually will keep the phone button backlights on for the specified time as well as the keyboard backlight. So, this could be a bonus for some. Still haven't found the light sensor on this device I am guessing it is on the keyboard on the left side (tiny hole), but I still haven't been able to activate it. Anybody else had any luck?

It will go off as soon as you close the keyboard

Unticking this option actually fixes the issue... If you DON'T enable the auto-sensor, the light will come back on instantly on every new key press (any key..).
Stretching up the time-out with earlier suggested reg-mod is a nice added bonus...
The sensor is slightly left from the Q-key. A little black dot.
Strange,
I put my finger on top of it, and it did not light the keyboard

Yeah.. my light sensor is iffy... Maybe it is just a bug.. I can be in a totally dark room and they key backlight will not turn on. If i disable the auto sensor the backlight, of course, works as normal.
i think i will have to leave it disabled..
Auto Sensor on p4550
Hello,
I have a kaiser and my auto sensor is not work.
Anyone have auto sensor (for light keyboard) work on his kaiser ?
Thanks.

That is exactly the same problem as I am having. I can't seem to get the keyboard to light up in complete darkness. My other devices never had this problem. The backlight would come on in darkness. Any suggestions?

Most of the time it works for me.. The easiest fix it to simply disable the light sensor. It works just like any other PPC then. If it is misbehaving a reboot will fix it for a while. I haven't actually had any problems for a bit now. I wonder if it has anything to do with the lock password bug? I did disable my lock password and haven't had any problems since.. might just be a coincidence. Wouldn't hurt to try that too just to see.

No backlight in hard buttons on the front when receiving calls

Any solution for that ?
not sure what you mean? a half press of the camera button turns the lights on
I think he means when a call comes in, the buttons on the face of the phone don't light up... I have been wondering about this too - it's not great when trying to answer a call in the car at night.
I have noticed that as well. Of course, I can touch the screen to answer, but it would be nice to see the red and green call buttons lit up as they did on my Wizard.

This is is my problem.
Happens with the Vario III too!
At present I do not own a TyTN II, but soon that will change (most likely)...but i just want to verify something.
The front buttons; call send, end, ok/softkey, start/sofkey, (and to a lesser extent the directional pad) do not light up at all, or only when a call is coming in?
They are backlit (well, not the directional pad), they are just saying the backlight is not automatically triggered on an imcoming call.
So what is the solutions for this?
How to keep buttons backlit when call is incoming?
Is it possible to keep these buttons backlit as long as the screen is backlighted (would be easier to navigate while you are in car in the dark)
Thanks,
Piotr
I searched registry without result.
Thanks for replay, but is it really true that it can't be changed??!!
pleasy anyone, help!
Help me too
This evening I was walking to my car which was parked on an unlit parking lot. The backlight not coming up automatically is really annoying Any help would be appreciated.
I got used to it. Now I can just press the buttons without looking the phone since there's no solution to it yet.
I found out that solution is pressing the camera button half way down (which is very easy to find and to press) turns on the backlight of all other hardware keys on the front of the device. really helpful.
greetings
Now that i read this thread, i just realized i was feeling for the buttons to answer a call while i was driving cos it was dark & i still am not familiar with the buttons....it's only been a week since i got the TyTN II Would love to see a tweak for this if there is

That's not a solution. That's finding another button, to turn on the backlight to find another button
Anyway. I'm afraid I have to get used to it. But it's these little things which annoy me more and more. How come interface designers don't think of this?
Has anyone found a solution to this, it's really annoying, I was woken up by a call last night and was fumbling around trying to find the answer key in the dark . My old Artemis used to light up the buttons along with the screen on an incoming call.

What are you TD2 users doing about accidental touches?

Just curious...in the TD1, I used S2U2 to avoid accidental touches to the screen but as the TD2 already has the side to answer/end .. what do you use now?
I'm having a few issues I did when I got the first diamond where if someone calls, or you call out via bluetooth, the phone screen turns on
Usually end up hanging up on someone when I call them because the screen touches the pouch/pocket etc
I think there are a few apps to disable screen apart from hard keys etc - just curious what the majority use

Is there a tweak for this in ACT? With my t pro when a call goes thru the screen goes dark almost immediatly, so I have the opposite prob as I need to use the kp to enter numbers sometimes. I could see where using bt it could be an issue tho.
I was wondering if the D2 came with a proximity or light sensor to disable/turn off the screen while it is against your face. I hate my Elfin.... I'm always pressing things with my face and getting into all kinds of menus.
My brothers Behold has sensors that shut the screen off. As of recently I have been pressing the power button to turn off the screen after I answer. Can't wait till mine ships on the 11th.

I asked the same question in another thread, and would be very curious about the answer, especially since gsmarena.com does not mention it as a feature, in comparison to the D1.
the iPhone has this feature...and I really can't imagine the D2 to do not have it. I hope I won't be surprised negatively.
i presume it does
Bearing in mind it automatically dims the backlight, and increases it. It must have one somewhere!.

I sure hope. I read that the Touch Pro2 has it so I'm hoping that the TD2 does also. If not that would be a shame. Good thing I'm getting used to pressing the power button right after I answer.
The D2 does come with a proximity light that dims the screen. If you look at the manual it's listed in the diagram specs page as well.

that sounds really great! but does it mean that it's inactivated too? dimming is indeed good, especially in the dark not to have a glowing ear - but i was wondering if, with the dimming, comes the inactivation of the screen too, in order to avoid accidental pressing of buttons with the ear/face.

any app to turn the flash light on when needed

hii...
as u saw the title..any application to turn my Xperia x1 flash lite on when i needed it..except using the camera..
any help?
there is a program called torchbutton, search for it there is a topic on it somewhere
as Ale07 said, you can use "torchbutton"
I'll attach 2 screenshots showing 2 shortcuts on my today screen, both activating my LED - thru torchbutton, i've also mapped a long press of the OK button to torchbutton, very handy to be able to use it as a flashlight just by holding the OK button for 2-3sek =)
I and a bunch of other people melted something inside near the LED by using Torchbutton. It caused my LED to shine in a skewed manner, and for others it caused their vibrating motor to stop. So I can't recommend using that program, though perhaps others have had better luck. Maybe it's the high setting that causes it, though I don't even remember using the high setting for very long.

I use HTorch and have literally left my light on all day until my phone died and my light is still function properly and just as bright as it should. You can download it from my signature under "X1 Stuff" amongst other usable programs that you may find useful as I have. Cheers.
