[Q] Google search crashes - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

About 20% of the time the google app will crash as I'm typing in a search. There is no error message. The app simply quits and I'm brought back to the home screen. Additionally, if I have bluetooth ON, I'll see the bluetooth icon being toggled on and off on the status bar. This also happens sometimes when google search is activated using Moto Voice.
I've tried restoring the phone, but issue persists. Any ideas?

Galaxy Note Not Responding and Crashing

Hi all
1- my GN is always force close Google app store when i click on any category and will find nothing when i search for an app, my phone originally had android market and google play automatically updated and installed, anybody has this problem?
2- my phone stopped working (completely blank screen with no key responsible) when i open some apps and games, the weird piece is some apps that it already runned them before! e.g i played air control game for some day and suddenly it went to blank and i force to reboot phone.
3- when sending anything via bluetooth when receiver device being invisible my phone stoped working, no blank screen this time screen remain and also andorid soft keys will be on and the only way is to press power button as long as it shut down or you must put battery off :/
i uninstalled all background working apps and either the one that crashed and still no improvement and don't know the resolution of bluetooth and google app issues.

[Q] Randomly getting "Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped"

Every once in a while, I'll get this message when opening the phone dialer. The app will close and I have to open it again. Any idea what's going on? I've read I have to clear some cache or something. I started having this issue once I installed 5.0.2. I did not have this issue with 4.4.4.
Secondly, going off-topic, if I press on an app icon and get the "clicking" sound from the speakers confirming the touch registration (the icon also shows the pressed state when my finger is on it), the app does not launch. I have to press on it again and it will launch. Any ideas here too?

Periodic blank desktop

I am having an issue with my rooted, unlocked phone on 5.1.1. Every once in a while when in an app and pressing the home button to go back to the desktop I will instead get a blank screen. The navigation buttons are visible and respond when pressed (a gray background shows briefly when pressed) but don't do anything. I can pull down the notification shade but nothing happens when I press a notification. I can press the setting button but again nothing happens. This happened once while I was playing music and the music continued to play. I have to turn the phone off and then back on again to get it to work again. I thought it might be a Nova launcher problem so I went back to the default Google launcher but it still happens. As a last resort I reloaded the factory image, re-rooted and cleared all ther data to start from scratch but it is still happening. Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas what is causing this? It is driving me crazy.
Thanks,
John

It happens on my N6 a few times. Mostly when I had changed something.
For instance changing a language textfile of the nav.app Sygic. Or after adding custom Poi's.
Reboot solves the problem.
My idea is that it is related to caching or memory management.

Google Voice Typing Stuck Until Power Cycle

This has been happening the last few days, at least once if not twice daily, but I will unlock my phone to find out the Google Voice Keyboard is frozen with no way to force close it and block the bottom half of my screen on EVERY screen. The only way to get it to go away is to power off the phone and power it back on. This is getting very annoying since it happens so often.
Sometimes it appears out of nowhere, sometimes it is after I use voice typing. I have used voiced typing in between and it opens and closes fine. It seems very random.
Any thoughts to get it to stop?

Reset itself overnight

Without doing anything myself, my Moto X 2014 has almost reset itself whilst I was asleep.
The first warning was no notifications, there's always an email or two, but then it wouldn't let me pull the quick settings down either. The phone wasnt using Smart Lock, in fact most system settings were reset. I figured something might be wrong with xposed (however, it's been running for months with no change, no updates to Android, xposed framework, or modules) so I updated all the modules and rebooted, still nothing. For some reason I went and switched to guest account, then switched back to my account and I'm now able to see notifications I missed and use phone almost normally. But my settings had reset and after setting swiftkey back up I see "Predictions not available. Check SD card." so typing is a pain.
My home button isn't working either, it flashes but doesn't do anything. The back and multitasking buttons work. Holding home button brings up Google Now on Tap, but it doesn't take me to home screen.
What could have happened? Is my storage knackered? Its not near full. Just to be clear, all my apps remained installed and logged in as far as I can tell. Only SwiftKey and the Home buttons remain as a problem.
Edit: Bluetooth devices also reset, wasn't connected to car stereo.
Edit 2: reinstalled swiftkey and predictions came back. Rebooted and they went again! Home button still not working.
Edit 3: Installed CatLog and when I press home it says: Not starting activity because user setup is in progress. So it thinks I'm trying to do first time setup? My accounts are already there (one of the settings that did remain).
Edit4: Ran
Code:
am start -n com.google.android.setupwizard/.SetupWizardTestActivity
as root (use su command) in terminal emulator and managed to complete setup... Home button works now and SwiftKey predictions seem to be working after a few reboots.
I hope that never happens again.
