My sister got the GT-I9305 a little while back. Usually, she takes quite a few hours to charge it fully, about 7-8 hours. However, recently, it got worse. The phone has been sitting at 37% for over an hour now, and it is still stuck at 37%! I've searched for other threads on this issue but they didn't really solve my issue. It seems really weird that the battery hasn't even turned for the better(or the worse) after over an hour.
Anyone has any insight on this? Thanks a bunch!
P.S. Everything was off except for Power Saving mode and the mobile signal.

i own that phone and i have to say that the charger is very weak 1000mAh charger for 2100mAh takes a lot i currently use my nokia's charger it has1200mAh and that makes a huge difference,my friend's uses nokia lumia's or of you have a recent computer you might have a supercharging port that provides much more power,
Hi everbody.
I use 2 different chargers, one from my tablet BQ Maxell Plus, other from another cellular...
NEVER had issues charging my I9300, with stock rom or other one....very fast and until 100%.
NEVER used the original one, but looking at it, is a joke of charger.....
Values: All debitate 5V, and 0.1 and 0.2 Amperes.
You must take in consideration other factors like electronic heat dissipation, filtrate, stabilitie, etc,etc with it seens not works well with the original one....

you guys are using capacity units on a charger. Chargers don't have any capacity, they have current, which is measured in amps, not amp/hours. So S3 charger would be a 1000mA or 1A, not 1000mAh
Never had a problem with the original charger. Charge time more than decent

how can that have an effect on the charging current?
On some cyanogenmod 10.1nigthlies versions it has problem with charging takes forever with oem charger, i am now on sentinel rom 4.6 it has same problem. Just use usb port from computer or some media player. It charge to full in maybe 5 hours from usb port, i dont remember excatly.
I agree the S3 Lte does not have the same speed in charging as the 9300 I use to own even though the chargers are the same, even different roms don't solve the issue, need a custom kernel to up the charging current that was available with the i9300 to reduce charging times

Seeing as the M8 supports fast charging, but the charger in the box is the standard 5v/1amp charger, would anyone know if the new Google charger would work for fast charge?

It's 9w/1.8amp output. I have one and was thinking of getting an M8 so it's something I could keep to use if I do get one

My M8 was getting very warm using this charger, is yours?
Not that I have noticed but I'll keep an eye out when I get mine back. It does charge everything I own quick as hell though.
They're supposed to be releasing a quick charge 2.0 compatible charger for our device soon that's supposedly is pretty good. I find my phone charges much faster than my DNA as that thing had a slow charge mode that was brutal.
I have a few red band charge only cables that charge the phone fairly quickly.
The charger that came with my htc M8 says 1.5A on the back of it. It charges the phone pretty fast compared to others I have used. I did try to use my samsung charger that is 2.0A but I noticed the phone got warm. Definitely not hot to the touch but enough for me to not really want to ust again and stick to the stock charger.
The charger that came in my box was 1.5A.

The stock HTC charger is 1.5 amps, or at least the ones in the UK are.
While the phone can take 2 amp charge, by doing so you will heat the battery up much more on each charge, and this extra heat will reduce the charge cycles of the battery(life of the battery), not really the best thing to do on a phone that can't have it's battery replaced.
I've got a 2 amp charger for the car, as when I use that I tend to need power fast, but I have my phone mount on my aircon vent so the phone is kept very cool even if using google maps while fast charging at 2 amps.
How do you tell if a charger has Quick Charge or not?
Apparently the one that comes in the box with the HTC One M8 has Quick Charger 1.0 but I'm looking at the charger now and there is nothing on there to say that it has this feature
I would like to buy another one as a spare to put in a different location to charge without having to take my charger with it but I don't know how to tell if it has it or not before buying it without getting it and actually plugging it in and using it
M8 has quickcharge 2.0 but no 2.0 compliant chargers have been released, the stock charger uses quickcharge 1 technology, HTC is panning to release a qc 2.0 compiant charger later this year.

You're not talking about USB 3.0 are you?
Then yes the Samsung Galaxy S5 does have USB 3.0
USB 3.0 is just a faster way to transfer data and as far as I'm aware the charging speeds are still the same standard speed
You do need to have a USB 3.0 cable and a supporting device (USB 3.0 port) to utilise it the faster transfer speed
BUT in saying that the Galaxy S5 does have the same chip as the HTC One M8 as far as I'm aware so I would imagine it would have the Quick Charge 2.0 function as well but whether or not the phone has it enabled or comes with a Quick Charger I'm not sure

Turns out USB 3.0 standard port has a current of 900mA while USB 2.0 is 500mA so the power current on a USB 3.0 has also increased

The Galaxy S5 also has a different charging cable, but can still be used with standard micro usb as well. I was amazed at how fast my gf's phone charged with the stock S5 cable and wall charger.
Can you you use the Samsung charger cable on the htc one. I've tried other chargers and I get the slow charge warning

Not the one with the s5 but any of their earlier cables would fit our M8's.
Hey guys, for the ones that asked I have got the Google nexus fast charger and it is not fantastic. Takes 1,5 hour to charge from 5 to 100%.
I was quite desapointed. This is incredible I can't find any quick charge 2.0 charger anywhere, did someone do ?
The compatible charger must have a qualcomm quick charge logo, they said.

Yes, it should, as long as the vehicle power outlets and usb chargers are operational and provide the correct voltage.

Hmm. Maybe there's something up with my tablet then. I found a YouTube video for the tab 10.1 that showed to plug the USB cord in just slightly to where it makes a connection to charge, but isn't fully inserted to make the data connection. This trick is working for me with the USB PC connection and car charger. It makes me think there should be a way to change a setting or something to always make it charge when plugged in.

Same here. Mine won't charge either
Sammy has been guilty of moving around power lines on their devices so that only there chargers and usb cords will work. Galaxy 2 phones and a few tablets won't charge on OEM or other manufactures cables.

I don't have the problem. I use a belkin dual port car charger... one is 2.0A ... the second is 1.1A. Charge my note 3 and tab off the 2A plug. I can tell you the tab wont charge on the 1.1A... but the Note 3 will just super slow.
I have a Lenmar dual USB car charger that is 2.1A per port. That "should" charge it, but apparently Sammy blocks it. I wish there was a workaround in the firmware.

bad battery
I have been having really bad battery on this yesterday left it a home with a full charge at 9.0am and today at 7.30am had 11% it had screen always off and it had not been touched thinking of send it a off to LG to be looked at

I use my Samsung charger with 2.0A and from 5% to 100 in an hour.. My orginal LG charger was only 0.7A!

I would advise against doing this. You will shorten the battery life due to the extra heat produced. Always use a lower amp charger unless you are in a rush!

Can someone tell me how long the actual charging time exactly takes ?
I use the original charger that comes with the device and it takes about 3 to 4 hours to fully charge the watch.
I find that quite long as I read the comments here.
The first tames it takes only 1,5 hours to charge it but all the other times it goes real slow.
A factory reset didn't help to resolve this issue.

As far as i remember battery have a capacity 410mAh, original charger have power output 700mAh, so charging time should be about 40-45 minutes max.
Change usb cable, if it doesn't help change charger (but it should have power output >700mAh)
PS. AFAIK using charger with power output >700mAh is harmless because watch limits charging current by itself.
Measuring charging time is best indicator.
Charging with 2.0A adapter will not increase the charging speed - the watchregulates the charging current, it will not just blindy "connect" the charger to the battery (in fact, I can't think of any piece of electronics that would have the charging logic in the adapter nowadays).
I had no problems with any chargers, not even with USB charging - the battery is very small, so unless you have a charger that can't put even 500mA you should have no problem.
I've seen an issue where the watch was "charging" constantly and ended with 85% and wouldn't charge anymore - reboot fixed that and it showed 100%.
I was thinking that your charge takes so long because you could have some process draining your battery in the meanwhile (that starts when you connect your phone, like a tasker thing or smt). Newbie thoughts so correct me if this is impossible
I could try to do a factory reset and see after that if it charges much faster then now.
For the moment i have a few apps on the watch, i do not know if it matters or not for to influence the charging time.
It's weird that we do not have the ability to load the watch while it is off.
From the moment that i put it on the charger it turns on automatically !

It makes not more sense to use a Adapter with 2.0 A Output. It won't charge faster.
Look if every pin on your dock is ok.
also the connection pin on your watch.
Try to clean a little bit with high percentage alcohol.

Problem solved by using another USB cable.
Now fully charged in 1,5 till 2 hours.
I haven't measured the charging time of my watch but it looks to me pretty fast. I guess with original charger 30 mins - 45 max, not a min more.

Hi,
that statement isn't particularly correct. The charging system in the watch (as with any LiIon battery) will draw as much current as is "good for it" and no more.
Just because a charger offers 2A doesn't mean that this is the amount of current flowing through the charger / battery!

Using the bundled charger, I am getting average of only 680mA .... Definitely nothing over 950mA and that is even when screen is off...
Using the same charger and cable on my sony xperia Z3 easily achieve 1400mA ...
Same sort of numbers with other chargers etc... So pretty sure it is device not charger...

I just tested and am getting around 1500 mA. That is with my nexus 6 charger.
Bundled charger gives me around 1460 mA.
Are you certain it`s not the app that is wrong as the S2 is new and the app might not have been updated yet, Try the Samsung charging app below, you have to keep pressing the refresh button on the free version.

The charging rate can be anything from 300mAh to the maximum the power adapter can output, the tablet will determine the amount of power it will accept, and will jump from fast to slow charge depending on how much more power is needed until it reach 100%.

I did a charge from 69% to full and it took about 1.5 hours... So would be maybe 5 hours to charge fully?? Unless the device does much quicker charging at very low battery??
I will do a full discharge down to say 5% and then charge from there and see how I go.

I would install battery monitor widget from 3c on the play store.
A pretty comprehensive battery app and will give you a full history and time line of charging and discharging cycles.

Normally it will trickle charge slow once it reach approximate 80%, and is normally fast if the unit is almost power empty.
It's annoying. I've tried both ipad chargers and a 2.4A charger, but it will go to slow charging mode with anything else than the bundled charger.

Yeah i have found exactly the same!! Must be some sort of Samsung handshake protocol...
There is another thread on this that I have mentions about this, just use a good quality charger, or just go for a Qualcomm QC 2.0 charger from any known brand like htc, aukey, xpower, lots to name, just searh Qualcomm site for a full list.
It won't used the QC2.0, but all should work just like the OEM Samsung one
the ipad charger should be pretty high quality though, so I don't get why it's being so picky.

If you also followed the tab S thread, it's also been mentioned, Samsung tabs S are also picky, and yes all apple stuff don't work.
Should I rephrase it and say some good quality charger will work, even branded ones like sony may not even work, but my intital testing, most QC 2.0 charger will work.
The issue is that I'm trying to find one charger that will charge both my tab s2 and my iphone 6+ quickly. Any idea how qc chargers fare with iphones? The bundled tab s2 charger only gave my iphone 0.4A (it charges the tablet at 1.5A)
I have both sony and asus chargers with included cables work perfectly with iphones and sony xperia z3 and nexus 7... Hopeless with S2.... But s2 charger works fine with them..

Odd, my old Nexus 7 2012 charger fast-charges my S2 710 without any issue at all. I had it spare as the N7 died on me (the S2 is its replacement) and was initially wondering myself as I had a few supposedly 2A chargers at home which only slow-charged the S2 (or indeed under Android 5.0.2 said it wasn't charging at all, even though it evidently was, but 5.1.1 has fixed that).
That said this is a charger without fixed cable (but with a decent USB cable) and I know from Raspberry Pi experience that the cable is almost as important as the charger for getting decent charging (ie enough current) to the device on the far end.
I would make sure the USB cable is a decent one intended for charging.
Proper charging USB cables have the shield connected at both ends for use as ground which is why they are notably thicker.

I agree, a good quality cable is required, as well as the charger itself, I'm using a magnetic cable and a reversible micro USB cable with a OEM Samsung, Aukey and Xpower charger, I don't get the speed of the QC 2.0, but it isn't suppose to as the S2 is not QC 2.0 compatible, but it does charge pretty quick, it also charges my ipod 4, and my nw-ZX2 work without any problems.
I get the "slow charging" message when using the Galaxy Tab S2 bundled charger.
If I use the charger from my Note 4 (Exynos) I get faster charging and no "slow" warning.
Did Samsung bundle it with the slow charger??
I can confirm that samsung did in fact bundle the tab s2 WITHOUT a quick charge usb charger.
I also thought the tab s2 didnt come with quick charge. I have extremely slow charge times but my battery lasts for DAYS... I can fully charge it, put it in airplane mode and check on it after 2 days and be at 98-99% battery.
I also use the quick charge cable AND the quick charge usb adapter that came with my note 5 and the tab still slow charges..
Here the same problem use Samsung charger and cable charge from 20% to 100% in 6 hrs and when use HUAWEI cable with Samsung charger It charged in 2 hrs
I guess Samsung have poor quality cable *-*
