No way to get rid of msm hsic host wakelock? (drain only when 3g active) - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've been searching but I can't find a solution to this annoying wakelock. This thing appears when I left wifi to connect to my mobile data. It causes a huge battery drain
It ONLY appears when I'm with mobile data on and wifi off. So, if I am connected to wifi or I keep data disabled, there's no drain at all
This is desperate. Very very desperate. I can see that some users are suffering this heavier than others (hardware problem?). Already tried with other sim card from other carrier, but no fix at all
I appreciate any kind of help. Attach two pictures for you to compare, this is a test for around 4 minutes with screen off. One is with wifi on, the other with wifi off, so using mobile data.

it seems it may be kernel related http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/h...one-thread-formerly-known-m7-4082270-172.html What kernel are you using?

Yeah, that's true, it's supposed to be kernel related but, I've tried several kernels and every one gives me the issue (well, actually I've tried the most popular, elementalX, bulletproof, kangaroo and stock kernel)
Using MaximusHD Rom
Thanks for your response. I hope I can get rid of this ffff* thing.. Hahaha

I'm not sure for your device, but for mine, N4, this is related to 3g network. So this wakelock is present when you are connected to mobile network via 3g.
To reduce and minimise this wakelock to unnoticeable minimum, I use smart radio option inside gravity box, bit you can use even better application, intelli3g: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.voidvapps.intelli3g
This app basically switches automatically to 2g when screen is off or you are connected to wifi.
As I said, this is all assuming your device is similar to mine, since I don't know nothing about your device
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

Thank you mate, but no luck, for me that doesn't fix the issue. In 2g it's the same drain that 3g. In fact, I used to use that app, but there was almost no improvement
So... People with htc one which are your stats, can you check your wakelock time while staying in 3g?
Btw I'm gonna try new kernels now... I've been said all kernels will be the same for this wakelock, but just in case...

need some help with this msm.hsic.host wakelock
need some help with this msm.hsic.host wakelock, I will try to post more screen shots. My battery drain occurs at any time, with wifi or not. WLD did say this was a kernel problem and recommended toggling on and off mobile data, this had no affect on this beast.

to me it seems like this is wifi network location reporting. I've tried to stop google's network location accuracy mode but it keeps coming back. If I'm outside using mobile data and gps I'm ok, only on wifi which I think google is trying to use the network location accuracy mode. Is there a build prop setting I can edit or apk to disable.

[Q] GPS doesn't get lock. Software or Hardware issue?

I'm in the UK (London) and have tried several firmwares, none of them gave any acceptable result for the matter that the phone doesn't lock on any single satellite.

I've sent the phone on a warranty repair (O2) saying that it doesn't lock on any satellite. Just got it back today and here's what they said:
"one of our engineers has found the problem and fixed it. For quality control, another one of our engineers checked the repair."
Guess what, nothing happened it still doesn't work. I hope you can come up with some solution - even if it involves hardware fix.

Ask them what problem was found, was it related to software or hardware?
Its mostly the settings which might need tweaking as per your location. I have noticed that 1st time gps locking takes time & you should have working data connection to assist its locking & after that the phone maintains a cache of your locations.
GPS dont work indoors so go out in open park 50mt away from the nearest buildings & switch on the gps & see if it locks or not. Indoor the phone uses cell tower to determinate your location but gps wont lock your location due to missing signals.
These are my settings.
menu>settings>Location & security>
check all with green check mark.
use wireless network
use gps satellites
use sensor aiding
Might help to lock, try these & report back.

Worth a try and also worth looking at the GPS fixes posts .
5 mins = 7- 11 sats on a cold boot for me .
jje
Did you tried a diffrent modem? Like JQ1 or something. Maybe that help.
I've tried several firmwares with different modems, all of them gave the above result outdoors, still after 10-15 mins waiting. The settings are the best touted around the web, also tried FasterFix... no luck.
I really suspect a HW failure or something with the antenna. The SNR value starts off at around 30-35 when the device senses the satellites, then slowly goes down to 14-18.

Sorry i'm not native english speaker.. what's that you're saying in other words (gps fade)? The great lord of the dark must be from Wheel of time lol
Development in the case:
As Chris_84 suggested, i've tried XXJQ1 modem and i've managed to get a lock on 3-5 satellites for about a second, then dropped. But the SNRs are far better than the one on the screenshots. I'll try some others too.

I had exactly the same problem with GTI9003 fw DDKB2. I tried all the softwares which you tried and results were exactly same. No settings worked. So I changed to XXKB3 available in forum. The GPS worked instantly without having to change any settings. I have tried this on two different pcs and it works. So you can try this fw and let us know the results.
@mrdeepakbajaj
the signal is still low with only 4 satellites & none locked as yet in your screenshot but I have found a fix here with gps tweak
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1043034
Now I can lock within 2 sec with 5 mt accuracy to 11 satellites, here is my post about my testing.

HELP - KitKat STOCK - WiFi and notification issues??

Hi all,
I have serious issues with WiFi on KitKat. I'm stock, unrooted, and until KK everything was great and smooth.
As you can see on pictures, it says that I'm connected on wifi AP KUCNA, but when I go online it says there is no connection. Also. Whrn in Settings/WiFi, it shows it is not connected, and I need to connect manually and type password again.
Same problem I have when it disconnects from Wifi during slleep mode over night, it get connected, but it is not connected.
On top of that, on lots of WiFi networks I cant connect. No matter if I type wrong or correct password, it says connecting but nothing happens. Before KK everything was working fine, and I was connected to all theese networks normally.
Plus, I have issues with notification areas, some notifications disappear without me opening them.
Battery life on the other hand is great?!?
Any help is appricieated.
Thnx,

WiFi on KitKat is generally screwed up. It has been reported as an issue to Google as well.
For now, did you try a full reset after the update. Give it a shot if not done already.

Yes, exactly.
Here are two SS. All stock, no power saver, auto brightness, 3g/4g and some wifi.
And not to mention that I have pretty big problems with gsm/3G reception and have lots of phone calls.

Something to add. I found that for some reason I can't connect on few WiFi networks still.
Also what I've noticed is that in Gallery if I go Share than select pictures to share it is ok, but if I click on picture first, I can't select Share icon, there is no dropdown menu to choose where to share.
Anyone else having this issue?

You should try:
To fix wi-fi problem on 4.4.2 android you have to rename Wi-fi direct device name.
To do that you have to go
wifi - then 3 dots - wifi direct - 3 dots - rename device - HTC One.

[Q] Losing GSM and WiFi signal

I was running CM 11 (maclaw's) then for about a month or so I was having incredible slowness on WiFi. After some hours on stand-by, I don't know what happens to my device, the WiFi get super slow. This is what a normal connection looks like:

and this is how a stricken one looks like: (note the ping value)
Then I jumped ship to CarbonROM (also maclaw's). The WiFi problem didn't go away but now I also have a GSM signal cut off problem!:
Like the WiFi problem, after some hours on stand-by the GSM signal cuts off, persists that way until I boot my device.
What could be causing my connection problems? Do you think it's the ROMs? I really need help. I can deal with the super slow WiFi issue but GSM cut off is really serious. (I was apparently called for an interview but couldn't receive the call!)

Install some other rom (not novafusion's) to see if the problem persists (don't forget to make a Nandroid backup first and to change the f2fs to ext4) and update your baseband(from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2526831).
I use Android-Andi's SlimKat with none of your problems.

i did a clean install (while installing the latest carbonrom). same thing. bug report still doesn't work. never mind that. i still have problems with the wifi speed dropping significantly after some hours on standby. at least the GSM signal issue seems to be gone―which was the worst bug of all!

Baseband doesn't effect WiFi (it only effect GSM and radio) but the kernel effect WiFi
As xXPR0T0TYPEXx says baseband doesn't affect WiFi but only the GSM and radio (problem to CarbonROM).

unfortunately it does. i tried slimkat. the wifi problem persists.
then i installed maclaw's AOSPA. surprise, surprise(!) the problem is still there.
it's really annoying because when the problem starts, the wifi indicator happily indicates that it is getting full signal. but i am not getting any notifications or i am getting them with a massive delay, because my bandwidth has dropped below 1 mbps with humongous ping value.
i also didn't tinker with my router for a year. it runs the same firmware and same settings.
according here, -i guess- it seems to be a bug with android 4.4.4 :crying:
okay, i tried keeping gps on to see if there was any change...and there indeed was! this time the wifi speed didn't drop (but there was a cut off!):
so i am guessing it's a nasty bug that involves gps: in the absence of gps, wifi speed somehow decides to drop to creeping levels.
then i either have to keep gps on and sacrifice battery life or keep it off and manually on/off wifi every couple of hours :S

Mate S: GPS Issues?

GPS issues?
My phone's GPS keeps dropping for some reason. Places I had no problem with on my Nexus 5 suddenly become dead zones with the Mate S. Anyone else have similar issues? My phone was originally from China and I'm in the US if that makes a difference.
I have not had any issues, actually it is probably one of the best functioning GPS's I have had in a phone. It generally works fast and well I have just returned for a week's vacation where I used it everyday for walking around - no problems what so ever., and fast reception even using the phone with no data connection.

That does make a diff. Most China devices are hard coded to only connect to china based Sats and due to this they have trouble connecting to any sats that are not based out of china. Just one of the things you give up when buying china devices.
For me also the Mate S has the best GPS I ever had. Locks so fast and inside the building where I never had before GPS.
gps problem
After firmware update I do reset and a-gps stop working. The sattelites find slowly and works very bad
I use my Mate S from early December 2015.
On December 15th I upgraded the firmware to version B145.
I had no problems with the GPS until ... last week. Then (in Endomondo v 12.0.1), GPS signal dropouts began occur frequently.
I too have started to get blank spots with the sat nave complaining of no signal. Checking gps test shows plenty of sats. I have reset the agps and let it learn its own to see if its any better. Thus was spot on, not sure what has changed as the firmware is still the same at C433B114.
Yesterday, I upgraded my Mate S to Marshmallow (Beta - B303). The problem with the GPS still occurs but ... only the first few dozen minutes.
Then - for the next two and a half hour - everything returns to normal and GPS in Endomondo works fine.

Hi!
Please contact to me on mail [email protected]. I have a question about gps. Thank you!.
Has anyone solved this issue? Would rooting my phone help? I'm in Canada and my GPS was working until last week and I didn't even do an update.
Same issue apparently with no reason or update at all....I think it s definitively a gps hardware issue, maybe due to overheating after hot times spent on the car cocpit....any news on thos topic???
Hi Guys, I has the same issue as I was not able to fix anything for 20mn. But then, searching on the net, I found GPS Test app that was fixing thing for Mate 8. So I installed it, I cleared my AGPS with it and then it updated everything and I could fix within 10s. So great. And sometime, even when I'm in a house.
Link please!
Found the apk but still hanging randomly...i ll try a factory reset...any othe hint?
I'm having The same problem. Today I'm going to try:

Prorect my exercise app: SportsTracker
Prorect GoogleMaps
Enable High Precision Location (GPS, mobile data and Wi-Fi, all activated, of course).
I'm sure the problem is a confluence of factors: Locked Screen, Power Saving Mode (Intelligent?) and unprotected apps, including GoogleMaps

Slow WIFI speed like A1

I have a stable wifi connection while one of my android gets the proper speed, A2 gets low amount of data at that same time. On a 3MBps package, my other phone crosses 250kbps, while A2 gets some what 110-150kbps in general. I have double checked this matter. FYI, this was in A1 too after updating to oreo. I am on august patch update. Please shed some lights regarding this crucial matter on HOW TO FIX IT
My Mi A2 is losing connection constantly, so it must be a general problem.
I've noticed that 5 Ghz reception isn't as good as my previous phones at long distances, but at short distances I'm getting over 17 MB/s (136 Mbps).

surprisingly it's the same issue with Mi A1 and official ROM - sometimes drops connection - not customs like LOS or RR.
but due to full treble comptability we should have benefits from flashing GSIs soon
it seems work fine on my device.

Have u find any solution? I have the same problem. Wifi sometimes get too slow to load anything, but in other devices it works perfectly fine.
Same problem here. Have a 200U/10D Mbps package. On 5GHz i pull about 72Mbps and upload 10Mbps which is acceptable (tho I've seen in this thread that the HW can do much more), but on 2.4GHz, it's just hell... I get 2.6 down and 2.2 up. In these tests I was next to the router so they are not affected by distance.
In my case the Mi A2 is pretty much identical speeds with (my router) 5GHz wifi as the other phones I've used recently. That includes Huawei Mate SE, LG G6, Google Nexus 5 and 5x. I'm never connected for more than a few minutes though.
I had the same problem. Then I did a connection reset in the network and internet menu, and that did the trick.

Could you please elaborate how you did the reset please?
Oke to do this go to the settings menu. Choose 'network and Internet' Then in the top right corner click on the 3 dots. Then choose reset.
Did that but didn't help. Still get VERY bad speeds on 2.4 GHz
I have the same problem. I have found a solution for me. Plane Mode and WiFi on. With this i have a normal wifi speed. With activated Sim cards the speed ist slow. Regards
Have you checked, when you have WiFi problems, for CPU stuck at Max freq?
BTW, I had plane mode activated for 2 weeks and never had CPU problems and 1st day I opened it came back.
Found a solution
Hey so what you guys need to do is hold the Wi-Fi icon in the quick menu, and then press Wi-Fi preferences and the press advenced, network rating provider, and then click none. This worked for me.

My Mi A2 is losing connection constantly, so it must be a general problem.
