Htc one m7 on spark??
I was wondering if there was a way to get our sprint htc one m7 to connect to the spark network. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I see all these great thing people can do on here and thought it could be possible

Pretty sure the answer is no. The hardware on the M7 does not support the SPARK frequencies (tri-band LTE). Yep, it sucks.

I sure wish that were true. LTE sucks on Sprint. The only way I keep a reliable connection is by staying on 3g. 4g/LTE is iffy (in Portland,Oregon) at best.
The One Max had support for Spark from day one.

HTC One® Max (Sprint Spark support expected via update)
No it didnt. It needed an update.
Arent the Max and regular m7 pretty much the same hardware?

As I said, the Max had support for Spark from day one. . Just because it needed to be activated via software, doesn't mean it didn't support it.
The HTC one m7....on the other hand. AFAIK....all the software in the world won't activate Spark.

Correct. Unsupported in hardware.

[Q] HTC ONE with different band

With the HTC One supporting so many different band (Euro/Asia/4xUSA/...), will all ONE be the same phone or different phones with same name?
Will it be same phone tuned to different band, like HTC DHD & Inspire 4G?
Or different phones, like HTC One X International & US version?
Thanks in advance.

Doubt that much, it probably just has a radio that only allows certain bands.
At least that's my hopeful thinking

HTC is just a small company compared to sony or samsung I doubt they have enough factories to supply different hardware per region just for the sake of this whole frequency uniqueness style.

That's what I'm saying.
The software radio is probably set to the carrier, so they are all the same hardware but software limits which frequencies it can use
I've seen HTC do this before, once we get s-off we could flash a international radio and have a true world phone

Like I said its hopeful thinking, but with a mass rollout like this I would think they would take this route instead of making different variants
They only have to update "ONE" phone although a lot of carriers add bloat so that will slow down the update process.

Can you tell me (or better yet show me) what the Sprint HTC One compares to lets say a Sprint GS3 or other Sprint LTE device with regards to LTE reception. Really what I would like to see is the RSRP (dBm) values of each device sitting side by side. I myself have an HTC EVO LTE and love the (almost) all metal construction that HTC did with the phone. The one thing I do not like however, is the LTE performance. 3G is great and on par with other devices, but I want to make sure HTC fixed this in the HTC one before I buy it.
Thanks in advance!

Wow, they actually put earbuds in with this phone. I haven't gotten a pair of earbuds with a new phone from Sprint since my Touch Pro (Maybe the Touch Pro2).
I was actually wondering how it works with roaming. Is it possible you can force it to roam for a moment? Or is that a root only function (been on a rooted phone too long). I don't expect LTE to roam, but I also don't recall seeing any info about a 2g/1x radio onboard. There's a little get-away I go to often in the summer that has no Sprint coverage and hoping I'm not bringing a paperweight every time I go.
Is the phone unlocked? It has a slot for a microsim, correct?

Maybe as a follow up to this question, we believe it has a MicroSIM slot (please let us know if it does not). Have you attempted to use an AT&T micro SIM in it as well? An international microSIM such as 3, Vodafone, etc?

I'm sure it won't be far from now when it gets a carrier unlock. I know it's probably that way because of the law, but when they pass the new bill, it'll be allowed.

Can you try the following dialer codes to see if they work?
##DEBUG# (##33284#)
##DATA# (##3282#)
*#*#INFO#*#* (*#*#4636#*#*)
If DEBUG works, can you see if there is an “LTE Engineering” menu to view the RSRP/RSRQ values? These values are also in the “Phone information” menu if the INFO code works.
If the INFO code does not work, would you mind downloading the following app?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mangelow.network
Basically, it’s a shortcut to the “Phone information” menu that you would find through INFO, but if they killed the dialer code, this might be the only way to access it (assuming the menu itself is still there).
I’m sorry, I know this is kind of a lot, but a lot of people are going to be eager to find out if they can use this phone for field testing to see if it’s a better RF performer than the EVO LTE. Thanks in advance!
Adrian, can you enlighten us as to the storage space? Under Settings/Storage. Some of us are wanting to know how much User Accessible space is available to store music, movies, photos, etc.

[NOOB] 4G LTE Radio Anomaly.

First post, noob post, searched the forum found things that are similar to my question but not a definite answer.
I just got my hands on an HTC ONE 64GB Developer Edition from the US and the 4G LTE frequency on it is 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz
And where I currently live the 4G LTE connectivity is 800/1800/2600 MHz.
I did some reading and found out that my device is considered as HTC ONE M7UL
And the UL falls within the 801s category and in turn that supports my 4G LTE category.
Added to that it has the same modem of MDM9125.
Taking that into consideration, is it possible to do whatever to make my phone's frequency compatible with my service provider. As for my understanding the frequencies in the device have been blocked for the US market, can I do something to make it work?
I have never flashed, rooted or did anything to an Android phone because I am completely lost and this is my first Android device coming from an iPhone.
So, your help will be much appreciated into guiding me with the correct information to help me out.

I haven't seen any posts that have tried flashing radios to change the bands supported. I'm still sceptical that it could work.
Plus, I think you read the table wrong, and I know of at least one error in that table.

If only I don't have an HTC One I'm willing to get that. I too have those LTE frequencies but I'm willing to sacrifice LTE for an additional storage. But too late already have a 32gb EU version which has matching 4g frequencies for your network but meh! Only 32gb storage.

I just put an order for a Black HTC One 64GB with matching LTE frequencies. It covers 1800/2600MHz which is where I live; Bahrain is under the 1800 range.
I can never downgrade from a 64GB haha.. My ONE X+ was FULL.. 32GB would drive me crazy haha!!
Now, I think I'll hang around this form to do some flashing business, sounds like fun haha!!!
Anyway, our LTE network isn't that great because they just started up a few months back and the reception is rather poor but it spikes up to 60mbps!

I'm pretty sure it is possible because it's a UL device and shares all the same features that the US/Canada/Asia/Middle East/Australia/Europe have got... So, that shouldn't be an issue.. It's a tiny little thing inside the system that needs to be smacked with a nice flash.
Hopefully, someone comes up with this ASAP and makes life much more easier to buy a device from anywhere in the world and not get screwed like me!!:good:

There was a post that showed pictures of a couple of different variants of the One. They had a different support chip that worked with the generic radio chip. So there is a possibility that hardware may keep the variants from cross flashing. We just don't know. It is also possible that it is simply software flashing somewhere in the various partitions.
If we get a US T-Mobile RRU and it gets to be flashed over a different model, then we will know.

Sprint HTC with HTC Spark possible?

As sprint rolls out their spark networks, tri-band LTE, I see the only supported devices are Galaxy S4 and HTC One Max right now but Sprint has said that "updates" to some devices could allow tri-band LTE on some phones. I'm assuming that the phone needs a tri-band antenna in order for this to work. Does anyone know if the HTC One has a tri-band antenna?
No the one doesn't have the hardware.
Sent from my One using Tapatalk
I would have to assume no... Believe that it only has the 1900 and 800 MHz radios. The 2500 MHz was originally used in WiMax. The problem you really run into is depending on 2500 MHz band because the wave length is so long that it really is horrible for penetration of building walls. That is why WiMax wasn't so great, and it really only worked on the streets unless you were by a window.
And the HTC One wasn't on the Spark phone list either...
It won't work. But its a good thing triband phones will have issues connecting to existing LTE towers and won't be updated till early 2014. Also by the time sprint spark actually matters you will have an update to a better phone like the HTC two

False. My Nexus 5 is Spark-compatible and it picks up LTE much better than my HTC One ever did... That's actually the main reason I decided to stick with the Nexus. It just flat out gets better reception than my One everywhere.
But yeah, Spark is barely even available yet and by the time there is actually significant coverage, the 'M8' will be out anyway... Now if HTC decides to fix their damn signal problems by then, I may actually decide to get one.

As far as I'm concerned, "Sprint Spark" is just marketing jargon for something I'm actually interested in, 850 MHz Band 26 LTE coverage. Sure, band 41 deployments will be great for speed near a window, but I'm much more interested in steady, uniquitous coverage of speeds greater than 6Mbps.

I'm sure that it was an honest mistake; I'm not here to call people out for the hell of it. I think we're all here to learn and communicate what we know to others, and the latter involves ensuring accurate information is being provided by others. I expect to be corrected when I'm wrong, I just ask that it be done respectfully.
He/she was certainly on the right track, I was just concerned about someone keeping it in mind and becoming confused when they see something on another site about how 800 MHz has better propagation because of its longer wavelength.

My 2nd (month old) ONE does well when SPRINT's LTE signal is decent.... maybe upgraded service, HTC correcting MF flaws that plagued early phones, maybe both idk... But my 1st ONE on release date sucked picking Sprint LTE.
Hopefully, Sprint will have broadly updated service so Spark will be available in more cities around the time of M8 release. :banghead: Regardless I'm getting it bc of international LTE bands and possibilities. I give kudos to HTC for building a phone that still relevant with all that's come out new and so Sprint for exploring innovative Signal/Tower changes to improve the connection experience.
just can't keep from flashbacks of the WIMAX debacle!

HTC One vs Evo LTE: LTE signals

I have had several phone replacements, and I am currently eligible an upgrade. I am considering between the One and the S4. So I just want to know, is the LTE signal for the One better than the Evo? For those of you who still have your Evo, can you post screenshots of the Signal difference the two using the app SignalCheck Lite (or a similar app)?
I really, really prefer Sense, but the LTE signal for the Evo was very disappointing. Also, knowing that the S4 will support Sprint Spark, it is now an option in my mind. Granted, Sense 5 takes precedence, because I don't like TouchWiz, and I don't really want to use AOSP every time I use my phone.
I didn't see another related thread, as I am discerning when posting new threads, especially when posting in the forum of a device that I don't own...yet.

If you like Sense and want Spark. Get a One Max. Also, only the newest model S4s get spark. The older model is not triband capable. I keep very good LTE nearly everywhere now especially since the update to Kit Kat.
I'm not exactly sold on the One Max as yet...and the upgrade price is more than the S4 and One combined.

I have not checked the sprint nexus 5 forums to see how that phone is faring but it also supports spark. You can buy from Sprint or directly from Google store and it will activate on Sprint. Just mentioning the phone but do not have opinion myself.

I believe 16GB is $349 and 32GB is $399.
I would wait for the m8 to be released. But I came from the evo lte and the One definitely holds its lte better. That was my major gripe with the evo lte.
The Mrs has a note 2 and I see her phone switching back n forth between 3g and 4g much more often then my One.

I understand. Was just throwing that out there. It is not an upgrade, you will not extend contract. Plus you want Sense and this one would be pure Android since it is Google.
Best of luck with whatever you do. I am happy with the HTC One and do not know what it will take to pry this out of my old, cold hands....

A free HTC One 2 will. Anyway, thanks for the response. My phone is beginning to fail me, and I do not think that I can wait for the new One to be announced (not released, mind you) in March. I'm pretty sure that I'm not getting it anyway.
And since this is my phone, and not to be shared, I don't think that I'm ready for Samsung.
