[Q] Is driving mode supposed to pause bluetooth playback? - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I seem to recall this happening the first time I used Driving Mode.. but never since. I use my phone to play Google Play Music (and sometimes spotify) over my car radio via bluetooth. Lately I find that the music isn't pausing.. but rather just 'dims' slightly and I hear the Moto Voice talking faintly with the music. And obviously, there's no way it will ever pick up me saying "Listen" with music blaring in a car.
Is it supposed to pause music playback, or is this not implemented functionality? Like I said, I could SWEAR it did it the first time..

I have a similar issue with Google Play Music. It's like Moto Assist TRIES to pause music, but Google Play Music just starts playing again. My old Moto X did this as well, but after a few fails, it would usually be able to pause the music successfully. The last Moto Voice update my old Moto X had also greatly helped in making sure the music paused at least when it opened the mic to listen to my text. My new Moto X can't seem to manage this.
If I have music playing, even when Assist opens the mic to listen to my command, it cannot manage to successfully pause Google Play Music. Strangely enough, if I bail out and just try to use the voice dictation directly through the keyboard, even that can't keep the music paused.
Maybe its an issue with Google Play Music? Its SUPER annoying.

Listening to music in earpiece while calling

Alright, i remember back then, around CM7 #48, I can call my friend and listen to music, via the standard music player in CM7. However, the CM7 now is unable to do that. Is there any idea how to enable it?
What i meant was: I start to play my music, then my friend called, i answered. The music continues to play via the ear piece. however, the music volume is lowered down. which means, i can listen to a soft background music while my friend is talking.
Cheers

Wow. Moto Assist car mode sucks... Better off with tasker?

So i thought it'd be pretty cool to have my X start to play music automatically when in my car... It has failed. Sometimes it will work once i start driving, but if I stop anywhere and turn off my car and go again, it won't play unless I manually do it. Ive tried clearing Moto assist data, but no go. Would tasker be better as I'd like music to play every time a BT connection is made to this certain head unit. Thanks
Not a fan of the car mode either. It said I was still in car mode almost 20 minutes after having parked and turned off my car. As a result it started reading me my text messages when I didn't want to. Needless to say, I turned it off.
Judging by the massive amount of replies, I'm guessing this is a non issue for most. However, in case anyone finds this in the future, I fixed my issue by disabling moto from learning Bluetooth devices. Now it starts just when I start driving. I'm guessing the issue lies in moto trying to communicate with my head unit.
I've found that car mode is less reliable on lollipop. On KitKat, Google play music would open and music would start every time. With lollipop, IF Google play music opens, it never starts playing. This is all with the phone plugged into power and the aux in cable prior to moving.
yup, that is why i use the app 'trigger' instead. I have it set to open music, and play when i connect to my cars bluetooth.

Bluetooth streaming skipping

The day I got my pure edition it got the update for lollipop, so I don't know if this happened in KitKat. When I stream music over Bluetooth and the moto active display kicks in, the music pauses for a split second. Kind of makes it useless for streaming. Anyone else? Stock, unrooted, locked boot loader
I have the same issue, didn't connect it to the active display tho. Works better after a recent reboot, but still will skip occasionally. I have noticed that it seems to be Google Play music that has the issue. Pocket casts hardly ever skips.

i'm surprised no one else has noticed this. it happens with me on spotify.. its terrible in the car
I use Google play all access with the BT in my car with Dodge's Uconnect (2012 MY) and the only time I get skipping or stuttering with the music is if I connect, walk far enough away to loose connection while streaming music and then walk back in range. Like if I forgot something in the house. If I get a notification, the music volume will go down, but then I hear the notification though the speakers.
This is on a PE with 5.0
Interesting... I've used bluetooth to stream Google Music and Soundcloud a lot in my car, and I haven't noticed this issue (I'm really nit-picky on this stuff, so I'm not sure I would have missed it).
I'm also on Lollipop, updated back when I got my pure edition around new years.
I'm looking forward to 5.02 or 5.1, which ever we get next, as I have several annoying bugs (including bluetooth) that I hope are addressed. I am currently stock, 5.0, but am seriously ready to try cm12 now that they have bluetooth ironed out. Still love the active display tho, even tho it randomly goes off or won't work for no apparent reason.
Lot's of manual reboots on my phone, at least compared to my old M7, if it wasn't for the camera I would still have that phone.
I've only noticed skipping using Pandora. Google play music doesn't skip.

Bluetooth and Play music bug

I have an N6 on Verizon. I am rooted and unlocked running stock Android 5.0.1. If I am connected to the phone with my Plantronics bluetooth headset, every time I place a call and then hang up when the call is over, Play music launches and begins to play music. The app doesn't actually open, but music starts and play music is in the notification pull down. Anyone else having this issue or have a solution?

Thanks for the quick reply. My bluetooth has one button. I just tried pressing it and music did not start. I called my voicemail twice. The first time I hung up with the button on the phone and nothing happened. The second time I used the button on my headset to hang up and music started playing.
How would I stop this?

i havent dove into the settings for : the device itself, the bluetooth settings, or Play Music. it may be imbedded in there, or it may be unchangeable/a bug. not sure tho to be honest
Same problem
I have exact the same issue on Nexus 5x Android 6.0.1 and Plantronics M165
This is a common issue from that BT oem. One of the main reason they are not used alot.

Audio Issue in Kenwood DDX9702S when using Voice Search

I ordered a DDX9702S and installed it in my '09 Civic Si. I've got a Nexus 6P and have been experiencing odd audio glitches.
When I play music, everything is fine until I get an audible notification or use the Voice Search. After that there is an audible buzzing/frying noise in the tweeters of my stereo when a bassy note hits. Once the noise starts, it doesn't stop until I reboot my head unit. Could you see if you have the same problem? I don't know whether it's Android Auto in general, my Kenwood stereo, or what. I've also reproduced the issue with 2 other Nexus 6P's and a Nexus 5, so I know it's not just my phone or model. Can anyone with the same head unit with me test out the scenario below and let me know if they've also got static? (I'm on the latest firmware, btw, from Kenwood's site)
Steps to reproduce:
App to use:
Either Google Play Music All Access or Spotify
Song to use:
Rearrange by Vérité - the beginning of the song is quiet with a bassy beat, making it easy to spot the distortion / static.
Steps:
Turn on the head unit and plug in your phone (I used a Nexus 6P and a Nexus 5)
Once Android Auto is running, go to your music app and play Rearrange by Vérité. I find its easier to play the song if you add it to a playlist titled "1" (without the quotes) first, so it's at the top of your playlists.
You'll notice that the beginning of the song is quiet with a bassy beat. After about 10 seconds, hit the microphone in the top right of the screen to activate the Google Now Voice feature. Once it gives an audible beep, hit the microphone button again to cancel.
Hit back on the screen to start the song over. At this point, on my stereo, every bassy beat is accompanied by a static in the tweeters of my stereo. This happens on every song I play, even the radio, but it's much easier to hear on quiet songs like the one I gave as a suggestion to test with.
The static continues even if you disconnect/reconnect the phone. The only think that stops it is restarting the head unit by turning it off and back on. If you use Google Now again or a notification comes in and makes an audible sound, the static will come back. It seems, to me, that any notifications or audio playback from an Android device will cause the head unit to distort the sound until the head unit is rebooted. If nothing happens to cause the distortion, sound quality is stellar.
Either Google Play Music All Access or Spotify

Not sure what you mean, but I can reproduce the problem in Google Play Music or Spotify. Actually, the FM radio too, but it's hard to hear unless you know what you're listening for - then you can't unhear it.
