[Q] Root problem on XT894 from Verizon - Motorola Droid 4

Hello,
i bought an XT894 from USA, it is coming with 4.0.4 ICS installed. I would like to install cyanogenmod, but i saw the guide and it is for 4.1.2. So i tried to update the phone (from android) and it says there are some errors. I tried to root it using "ics404root" and it says that phone is rooted, but root checker says "Sorry! the device does not have proper root access.". What should i do? If the phone is not rooted i can't install safestrap

Lost root after flashing SmoothROM 4.4

Hey guys. I got my grouper yesterday, I'm hoping for a warm welcome
The first thing I did when I took it out of the box was fire it up, unlocked and rooted. When I rooted, I flashed SuperSU flashable. I also flashed CWM touch. After that I flashed SmoothROM 4.4, and I was solid. I installed all of my usual apps, then went to do what I call debloating, (Looking for apps I don't use such as voicedialer.apk, and deleting them) using root browser (/system/app). I noticed it wouldn't delete, then tried another app that requires root permissions. Nothing. I got suspicious, then re-downloaded root checker. "Sorry! You're device does not have proper root access!" What happened? Is this just me, or is this a widespread problem with this ROM? I'd like to keep this ROM if possible. Is there a way to re-root my device (more or less)? Thanks, a response or any help would be very much appreciated.

Rom specific questions need to be posted in that rom's thread. Do not start new threads about custom rom issues.

I am having same issue
This issue has been addressed; do a Verizon Nexus Forum search.
Uninstall supersu, reboot, then install the market version, not the flash able zip

Kingo: Root FAILED

Hello,
I just got a Note 3 from ATT. I tried rooting the phone using the Kingo program, but each time the root fails with the message: "FAILED.. NOT SUPPORTED"
Has anyone experienced this? What can i do?
I am reading about the Root de la Vega, but I am afraid I am on MJ5 firmware, so I am not sure whether it is advisable to use it.
Are there other reversible rooting methods (ie, without tripping KNOX)?
cheers, MN

I know when I did my phone it said failed. Did it two more times. Still said failed. The last time the phone had a disclaimer pop up, and the phone was rooted. So don't know how it worked but it worked. phone is rooted.
I was on mj5 and it worked fine. At the end of root it'll tell you failed if you don't grant it super user for a test but I didn't see any reason to allow it. Checked and I was rooted.

Thanks. I finally got it to work, by de-selecting (unchecking) the "developer option" that asks to "Verify apps via USB". Once I unchecked it, the process went succeeded. I guess this options was somehow preventing the super-user access. Anyhow, it worked, and I went ahead and rooted by wife's also.
Thanks for your responses - MN

I think I read somewhere that if the device has KitKat ... it will not root at all and at this time Kingo does not support kitkat for the GS Note 3
Gn3 on mj5
I have the GN3 on att
Rooted on mj5 using kingo worked fine
Unrooted using kingo.
Rooted again using kingo , still on mj5
Safestrap wiped data and cache, forgot to install rom.
Flashed stock MJ5 via Odin, phone boots fine. Flashed sec_csc.zip to fix the pen input error.
Performed several factory resets from device
No sim installed
USB debugging on
Unknown scources on
Verify apps off
USB verify apps off
Kingo root FAILS every time - (error notsupport)
What am I missing?
Which version of Kingo are you using? Did you flash the 28whatever.zip file after flashing the CSC file?
Try deleting the drivers and allowing them to reinstall

My option to uncheck Verify apps via debugger is greyed out an won't let me don anything with it. It does show up as uncheck, also the same in security. What should I try next?
Kingo root failed
Kingo root failed after remaining in the state of "Rooting" for a long time.
Mobile : Huawei HOL-U19.
Please help !!!
Kingo does not root kitkat you'll have to use towelroot.com. it works on the latest att update and most phones with kernel date July 2014 on down.

[Q] Kindle Fire 7.4.8 did not root with the bin4ry method

Hi, I'm new to this and I'm just wondering why my kindle fire running on 7.4.8 did not root. I followed all the steps for bin4ry, everything went well (backed up rebooted and all) but at the end, the device did not have the superuser app. So I'm assuming it did not root. So what happened? I hope someone can help me with this. Thanks.
Don't select normal, select old when it asks what method.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I wasn't able to use your suggestion but I was able to root the kindle already (checked via root checker). For some reason, the superuser is just not appearing. I've read about it on other threads and they said that I would just have to install the superuser app via google play store. So I'm currently working on that. Thanks again!

V31 Binary Root works best in my opinion. That's why old works better. Install SU and check for root.

Lost root after latest supersu update

Curious to see if anyone else has lost root after the latest supersu update? Rebooting did not change anything. I'm unable to use any root apps (xposed, root explorer, etc).
Any ideas?
Thx!

You should tell is if you are using a root exploit (and which one), what android version you are on, and whether or not you are BL-Unlocked.
I can tell you that my unlocked devices had no issues updating SuperSU, and root apps still work fine.
(I'm guessing you are locked since your signature says "Status 0")....but please confirm.

Oh, great! So problem solved, or are you seeking a solution to work with the most recent SuperSU?
I would rather use supersu, but so long as super user from click clockworkmod works, its all the sane for me.
Thx for the reply though.
I had to uninstall supersu, install super user, attempt to install it, reboot, make sure have root access via root explorer, install xposed, install adaway, soft reboot.

updating rooted phone

hi. i have rooted my phone. now i received notification that update is available but after download it does not update because it says it is rooted.
i uninstalled root with super su but is still does not install
is there anyway to install updates without having to full format the phone?
Yes you can, follow this threadhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2803479.
Download KDZ and flash it with that method.
I did it like that.
You will lose root access and boot will be relocked in the process.
