Xperia Z Display Panel Datasheets [Sharp+JDI/JDC] - Xperia Z Original Android Development

hi all, i have found the display datasheets for Xperia Z Sharp panel's and JDI/JDC panel's.
i just only found it so feel free to use it and/or copy, and/or do with it whatever you want!
You can download Sharp panel pdf file from this link: https://www.mediafire.com/?2o25jjk4smsqyj9
Download JDI/JDC panel pfd file from this link: http://www.mediafire.com/view/1s2bz1573qp77dp/ACX450AKN-7.pdf
or from attachment (zipped)
LS050T1SX01 = Sharp panel
ACX450AKN-7 = JDI/JDC panel

Thanks, very nice work. Hopefully, this allows somebody to figure out how to decrease the backlight brightness more, which'll save a lot of battery, especially reading at night.

Just use a screenbfilter app to dim the screen even more at night,
I know you need a thirt party app for it butt it works

100% wrong. All that does is add a grey overlay, the screen brightness stays the same — there is NO battery saving.

True that. I know some devs here have the skills to get something like this to work and I know they where looking for such data.
Luckily here it is and we will see what our Z devs can do with it !

Oh ok thanks

Dear All,
I was looking at the datasheets, and the connector of both lcds are verry different from the one found on xperia phones lcd. My question is: the panel are the same, but equiped with different cabling, or the lcd cable (seen in the datasheets) is connected somewhere to a bigger cable (available on the xperias panel)?
Thank you for your help!
---------- Post added at 09:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:07 AM ----------
A bit more information:
I own an original sharp lcd (with the connector, seen in the datasheet), and the lcd is broken, and I need a replacement. It is not part of an Xperia phone. But if I could use the panel of the xperia Z, would be great, as it is available on a much lower price on ebay, than buying the sharp from an original source.
Thatswhy I ask about the connector. On the picture of the xperias lcd I see a different connector from the one in the datasheet. So the question is: the lcds cabling in the xperia is different, or is the same, but connected somewhere (which I can not see on the xperia teardown pictures) to the bigger cable?
Thank you

Xperia z screen quality?

well i am really looking forward to this device but the only thing holding me back right now is the screen quality(all reviews have a pretty bad rating for this)...i currently have the xperia ion and i love that display(not a fan of amoleds).
I cannot personally test it as it isn't available in my country yet. But i am getting a really good deal at one of the online retailers, so i just thought it would be better to ask the real owners as to how the screen is..and are viewing angles really bad?(be2 off...as i would be using cm..nd we clearly loose b.e. funcionality as soon as the bootloader is unlocked.)
also it would be better if anyone could compare the quality to a xperia s or ion.
couldn't find a similar thread hence created this.
Thanks for your time
The screen isnt bad, people just cant adjust to change from amoled and over saturated colours. Before this I had s3. And to be honest its different but I like it and the resolution is lovely.

i had S3 with super amoled HD
BUT in my experience it doesn have any problem in display
viewing angle is prefect
i experienced viewing angle in S2 and S3 the amoled display become darker in very low angles But Xperia Z display TFT become more vivid and brighter
in some angle S3 get pink tint and S2 get blue tint and it is normal that u can see in all kind of display
in Xperia z in some angles (tOO low) u will get white tint when u look in low angle from the top corners, But still u can easily read text and see images.

What is the point of this topic??? You say that you have seen reviews that rate the screen quite bad, what will you do when people here rate the screen very good?
You're the one that's going to use the phone not someone else, so review the phone yourself, hold it in your hand, turn it on and maybe you'll be one of the many amongst us to be wowed.:good:

[Q] different panel?

since so many say that the xperia z comes with different panels i would like to know more about this
my main concern would be black level
when i first started up my xperia z i was shocked by the black level it was not black at all it was just like this
http://i50.tinypic.com/v8ao6.png
i made a thread about it and was told that the black level will improve itself through self callibration?
then i saw this video
skip to 1:03
makes the whole different panels theory more beleivable unless ofcourse that part of the video has no backlight allthough the first part of the video also has a very good black level it looks black it's even and it has no traces of light or white in it
could someone explain this to me
does the screen actually self calibrate after some time as the black level i saw at the sony boot logo was grey as the above picture
i will soon have two of these phones to compare to eachother seeing if their displays are different
i can also see people have found different names of panels in their phone JDI or SHARP which one is the better one?
and interestingly enough the phone i started/had had a very good viewing angle from what i could see i saw it for 2 seconds but i saw no actual changes in the picture from a different angle
WOW that was very apparent. bumping thread for interest, as those black levels were pretty absolute at 1:03
anyone know what that was?

yeah thats what i am wondering about aswell
it also can't be alck of backlight as the picture changes instantly to the homescreen without any change in brightness

Hi there. The video provides the information you want...Specially in 1:03 and on. -Francis
i was now told they are the same panels it has been proven
It has being proven (going into the code itself) that the panels are all the same (docomo version and non branded Z) that same forum has the information on this. Display screen calibration

Now that I realized that our phones do not come with the display calibration softwares like Z and ZL, still I'm looking for some way to fix the annoying low contrast and washed-out colors on my T. Is there any alternate software or app that can do that?

Bravia Engine...all time??

So I know that our display is fading when it stands vs HTC, LG, Samsung screen but if we make Bravia Engine always ON the situation changes, the screen could be equal or maybe a little bit better than others with more power consumption.
So its this possible..to have bravia engine in games, homescreen, anywhere in sistem? As I read on the internet I didnt found an exact answer for this question.

Theoretically it would be possible but the battery drain would be enormous ATM, unless Sony delivers some tweaks!
That's probably the reason why they haven't done.that in the first place!
Sony.would be better off with an oled display, tweaking it and sticking the BE2 ENGINE or x-reality into that, saving battery consumption. Then they would be unbeatable for a while!

OK its quite late , but I can suggest you some alternative try it and lemme know..
google is your best friend , search for Screendim.apk and install it
enable it and set the bottom bar ( contrast ) for about 60% and the brightness on top for about 60-70% and now tell me how dark or colorful your screen looks
this defnitely works.. not perfect but close to BE alwasy ON types..

Nope. Neither my Xperia S nor my Xperia Neo nor my Nexus 4 nor everything i've owned had a better screen.
Maybe there are some people on the world who like natural colours, becoz after looking at a amoled display my head hurts.

If you display some screen calibration patterns while using bravia engine, you see how bad it is for fidelity. It just oversaturates, tints, and destroys detail in brighter and darker areas of images/videos.
If a phone has a screen of 300/1 contrast ratio, there is no way some software can improve this, it only can put some make up but at the cost of some other things, just like LCD's are doing since the beginning with dynamic contrast and all that bullsh*t, where you see skin become shiny bright and where there used to be a dark grey shadow over a black background, then it becomes all black and no shadow.
BE is the first thing i disable in all my Sony products, and its equivalent in any non Sony product.
I think that our screen without bravia its complety UGLY! :-&
I never had any issues with the colours on my device. Infact I prefer them this way as opposed to colour popping and extra vibrant. Infact I turn down that setting on my LCD monitor. A friend of mine did a side by side comparison against his Samsung device and the 1st thing he notices was the colour was more toned down then said he actually preferred the Sony display. Point is some ppl like the toned down visuals and others like them vibrant but funny how as someone says they have no issue with the Sony display they are labeled a blind fanboy.
As for viewing angles, Also never had an issue with them due to the fact that I always take up my phone when I want to look at it (always, its a habit of mine) and never just glance at it while it is on a desk or anything like that.
Xperia Z Screen is OK, i have been using it everyday since launch date, viewing angles may be low, but that is something i forgot completely in everyday use. Screen brightness is more than enough, contrast is ok, and visual fidelity is great (as long as you have BE2 deactivated).
For people saying there were better screens two years ago, please point me to a device released two years ago with a 5" FullHD screen with better specifications.
We all know the XZ screen, today, is not one of the best FullHD screen on a smartphone, but it was the first released.

I don't think they need a doctor or anything, it is a matter of taste, there are people who like viewing screen with oversaturated colors and overdriven contrast just because it is more eye catchy, for god's sake they even ported the bravia engine to the galaxy nexus, and there are people who even enjoy it, if the nexus screen weren't oversaturated enough... let's oversaturate it even more and add a lot of detail loss due to contrast overdrive by BE.
Oh, also forgot to mention, "nits", why the hell would we need a screen with a gazillion of nits if at the end of the day we are all using the brightness bar to decrease it to save battery (or using the Auto mode), at the end we all are viewing the screen with about the same luminosity, it doesn't matter if our screen has 10 or 8.000.000 nits.

Hi
I just got my Z2 yesterday but i just cant believe this top phones flashlight is this weak.
Compare to any other phone S3, S4, moto g, nexus4, nexus 5 is like a joke.
1/3 of the strength or less. Or maybe my device is faulty?
Interestingly when i take a photo the flash much stronger but when I use any torch app just a little bit stronger then a the screen on full brightness.

It's an excellent app allowing you to set (turn on and off) almost all android services, and as a bonus, a torchlight that can use either the LED or screen. This app can also be "docked" at the status bar for quick access.it's not exactly hard to make a phone that manages adequate voice calls. I can't remember the last time that I had a mobile that failed here. It's unremarkable for the phone to work for voice. I'd expect the reviewer to mention very clearly if it sucked for voice (dodgy antenna, poor earpiece/mic), of course.
The flashlight in the Carbon ROM is the brightest I've ever seen on the Z2.

This was an assumption. Better to be prudent...
Passing high amount of current through led for a very long time can cause damage, thats why only the last pulse of flash in photo capturing is the brightest, as it is for only a short amount of time (even less than a second)
if you can figure out how much current the LED can endure (through datasheet), you can increase the brightness of the LED by increasing the current value "in some system file" but be careful not to exceed the threshold value, or the LED will confirm get damaged(sorry i dont know exact file, maybe google can help?)
still, i cant 100% guarantee the LED will be safe for custom values, but when i used xperia U, one guy made a "LUXEN LED brightness increasing mod" which i still use even now on my xpU and my LED is much brighter and not damaged
Its just, if you are gonna try it, you should have idea of basic electrical engineering so you can read the datasheet easily and understand all the "dangers" involved, if any..
i know this thread is abit older but...
some days ago i switches from z1 to z2 and i can remember the same "problem" of the z1. there was a mod that allowed you to push the current of the led in "torch-mod" at the same level as "camera flash". i used it for a really long time and noticed no damage to the led. but this mod is not working for the z2.
i really wish a brighter led -.-
(and please stop "it can destroy bla bla bla" ppl who are using this kind of modifications should know about the risk. and if they dont... well... not your problem)
I use this mod. It's from z1, but it alsof works on the z2. Medium settings..

I find the one minute timetime is very useful, thanks for the app.
