[Q] Android L on LG 950 or any G flex model - LG G Flex

Well given that its going to release officially Nov 3rd are there any specific needs or shall i say requirements to get the room build or ported over to our devices.

I saw a couple things stating it would release about the same time with the G2 Lollipop update Q1 of 2015

Its coming. Its being tested and from what I hear there are no issues so now just waiting on the "bump" team to update the site with everything we need to install and build ROMs compatible.

I'm due for an upgrade on the jump plan and have been for several months. I really like the oneplus 1 and the g3 but I can't seem to give up a phone that has a damn near unbreakable screen and draws so much attention to its sexy curves to go to a phone that I'm sure to break the first drop it has. But I've made up my mind and I'm going to eventually go to the nexus 6 (with a two foot leash attached to my wrist so it can't make it to the ground)

haha yep. or you could just go with a ballistic case. when i was doing mechanic work with my g2 wrapped in one my phone would fall from 10-15 feet high,i would constantly roll over it with my body, it would fly outta my hands and the phone was still perfect. im debating to spend another 700 on a phone right after im paying 700 for my flex. its still in the air, but, i want a nexus 6 very badly.

yeah since the final set of code is released today and ppl can start building i wonder who is gonna come out with a working rom first on the flex . pluse i havent been able to root my flex since its update to kitkat sucks but waiting on something that will work fully on it

I flashed SuperSU from recovery. But I've gone up to KitKat unrooted and used towel root with no issue.

I have a issue then when I connect my phone to my computer it stays on PC software it won't let me change it to mtp or anything else im sure I have the proper drivers installed and I even factory flashed the phone back to stock

Install the software and it may let you change then. Also before connecting go to settings/PC connection/select USB connection method and select the method you want then back up one page to settings/PC connection and uncheck "ask upon connection" so it doesn't give you a prompt asking what to do.

So we have confirmation that superoneclick and aroot doesn't work on the new atrix update. If any dev will work on this please use this thread.
EDIT: Please don't comment on this thread anymore. Go to Ririal's v2 root method
I just updated and it does seem smoother to me. Might just stick with it.

Maybe this is your first piece of electronics, but it's completely expected that everytime a software update for a piece of hardware is released, exploits are closed. Apple does it, Sony does it, Microsoft does, HTC does it, Motorola does it, Nokia does it...The list goes on.
This WAS EXPECTED. I always found it entertaining how whenever an update was released for my EVO the forum here on XDA would get absolutely flooded with people saying how they lost root NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THEY WERE WARNED! It could take 5 minutes, 5 hours, 5 days, 5 weeks, 5 years, or eternity for root to be regained after an update. There's no way to know.
any way of installing 3rd party non-market apps, like amazon appstore?

I just ran the update, it shows in the system version as 4.1.57 yet I still have my superuser permissions and can tether without adding to my plan. Not sure how or why, but it happened.

I would be helping fix it if I had the update. I'm still waiting for the notification, but thanks The OP is just forum clutter, and it's pretty rude to be making these requests minutes after the update is even pushed, and a BETA update, at that. That was my point.
Where are you guys located, getting the update already. I just checked and it said mine is up to date and I still have 4.1.26. Wierd!

Did you flash back to stock before the update or did you do the update on a rooted/gingerblured phone? Do you know if you were using 1.2.6 or 1.5.2? Have you tried running su in a terminal to make sure root actually works?
Was worried bout flashing without stock software already installed think ill go back to stock anyway to try it the official way first.. Can always go back and upgrade after rooted though if this works consistently.
The security hole that allowed for root on the phone is CLOSED in this update. There is no way of rooting your phone after this, save going back to one of the available SBFs. Confirmed by designgears as well.
As someone said earlier, "for now" the root method is disabled, and there is no way of rooting your phone after the update "at this moment".
I have confidence everything will be OK.
Boy am I glad I decided to stay away from this "update." I got accepted but when I go to check for updates it says I need a social networking account setup. When I then hit setup nothing happens so I said forget it lol.

O2x Embarrassingly slow

Had to sort out my Brothers HTC Desire last night, reinstalling everything after a repair.
It was embarrassing seeing how fast installations were.
Apps downloaded, installed and the phone was instantly ready to go.
My O2x on the other hand grinds to a halt when installing anything. I updated 4 apps last night and my phone was pretty much unusable during the downloads and installation.
After the apps were installed it still sat there for a good 30secs at 99-100% CPU usage.
The phone was stuttering and unusable until the Processor settled down.
I remember when I got this phone I was telling my brother about the Dual core processor etc. This may sound good but it's useless if it falls over when doing the most simple of tasks and gets outperformed by something running half the power
yes, a very annoying bug, welknown by everyone - except LG
very embarrising for LG
Yep, a pretty good cockup by LG. Custom ROMs don't have this 'feature' though.
is there any way to sort this without resorting to a custom ROM?
No, you'd need to wait for LG to sort it.

Looks like there could be a long wait ahead. lol
The fix will be out before end of March next year, maby. As soon as we (LG) sorted the reboot and BSOD issue we (LG) will start working on your problem.
So in two weeks a year from now we promise you there will be a solution, if not sometime in spring 2013 for sure.
Althou we (LG) can't promise anything.
If you buy your telephone after summer 2013 you will be able to upgrade it to Gingerbread straight out of the box. Congrats!

There is a patch that Paul has made a week after the phones release.
r2-stock-performance-pack
And here is the explanation why this happens.
Explanation
Note the date of the post and mind that the phone was released In Europe In the last May weeks / begin of April.
If only every Android phone manufacturer gave their phones to Paul before release.

I looked at that but had also heard it didn't fix the lag.
My other concern was would Flashing CWM Recovery affect getting official updates OTA
I'm sure someone has said before that LG updates fail if you have a custom recovery
If they're a standard update.zip then they should still install on ClockworkMod recovery.
i dont get it, am i the only one without any sort of lag when dling/installing apps ? it just does it, and pretty darn fast too.
what the hell. and im on STOCK, no performance patches or nothing, only rooted and some stuff frozen. v10B
I have a lag as well. Like you just rooted with some apps uninstalled.
I kinda accept it though. My thoughts are that FSecure is scanning the install and therefore that's what's causing the problem. It's worse if you update say 4-5 apps at once.
TBH I'm not worried. I'm the kinda guy who just leaves a PC installing and hass a cup of tea. Same difference here really isn't it?
It's not F-Secure, it does it with that removed.

Use Samsung Kies
good question on the counter, I have restarted my phone and have not seen it, Buuut I did freeze knox though. As far as updating Use Kies took about 10 mins
USB audio?
I got the Lollipop update this morning through T-mobile. It was smooth to update, and I haven't noticed battery issues or anything others had reporter.
However, I was super-excited for Lollipop, because it allows for USB microphones. And I've tried all 5 of the ones I own without success. I tried Samsung support, which was useless. They weren't even aware of the feature.
Do you think it's possible that Samsung or T-mobile bypassed this native feature to Lollipop? I was connecting via OTG cable. I haven't tried mic to powered hub to OTG yet, because I've seen Nexus owners on Lollypop just connect USB microphones via OTG.
I'd be grateful for any advice any of you gurus have out there. I am not rooted or running anything custom. I've been fairly happy with stock. But, like I started with, I was all the while looking forward to this Lollypop update for portable recording via USB. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks.
Downloading as I type...I'm sure I am wasting my time since I been rocking BeanStalk 5.0.2, but my curiosity is making me just give it a look and see how it works. It'll be nice to use the S-Pen features again, but Lollipop without all the bs that samsung and tmo put on there has been nothing short of amazing.
Why have the note 4 when you can have PURE android just like you want with the new 6 inch moto. But whatever guess I will never understand why people will buy a car. Strip it off its goods (rims/system/under the hood upgrades) just to have a classic stripped stock vehicle? I mean already having the features why give then away? I will never understand

Assuming that you're talking about the Nexus 6/Moto X Pro, there's no need to debate/discuss why I would want TouchWiz on ANY level, which is why I was close to buying a Nexus 6. Honestly though, for me, while the Nexus 6/Moto X Pro isn't a bad phone(they're both really great phones), they lost me with no way to add extra storage or remove your battery if needed. In addition, while I have been running Beanstalk for the last few weeks, I still think the S-Pen is a really great feature to have on the Note 4. There's really no need to go into details about which phone is better, because it will always come down to preference, but in regards to your comment, it's not as stripped down as you present it to be.

No attitude here, everyone is entitled to their opinions. I am certainly not hating on you for what you're saying and personally, in many(maybe most) aspects, those are flat out better phones than the Note 4. I just installed this bs lollipop so now as I type, I am flashing back to BeanStalk. The lack of a removable battery i could live with, but the expandable storage is a necessity for me, the only reason I am staying with the Note 4 since most phones that are coming out are converting to that style.

You do not need to install gapps on stock ROMs. They are included. Installing them as a zip will break them. So, factory reset (or fresh install), and don't flash gapps.

Hey. Thanks for the reply. I actually didn't install gapps over the stock ROM. Not sure what it didn't like installing over Beanstalk. I did a wipe before I installed via kies. Anyway, I resolved by doing a factory reset, like you said. Did two actually. All is well now, thanks.

Will anything past OE2 ever get Root? (OG5,OG7,etc..)

Anyone know of any active developement regarding the 925V variant? Way too nice not to have root.
There is zero development.
Zero KNOWN progress. Who knows for sure though. King root might work for us one day or it might not.
There wasn't much development on my tmboile s5 either. What phones do have good development these days?
I guess mostly just Nexus devices.

I've stuck with my ATT Note3 on TMO, and TMO Note4. My son has a Sprint S6 Edge on TMO and it has surprisingly quite a bit of development. If I knew anything regarding locked vs. unlocked BL's I'd have a go with this 925V. Just really surprised at the lack of development for this device. Sucks!
Unfortunately, it seems that we've been left in the dark. Surely one of the many devs would have a thread going with some sort of progress update if any were working on it.
@spadz93 That's kinda what I'm thinking. Too bad. I use way too many root functions to even consider keeping my 925V. Really nice hardware either way. I'll probably look for a TMO variant.
Verizon sucks anyway. Worst service I've ever had. I liked T-Mobile way better. I have constant dropped calls, missed texts etc with Verizon.
I would pay good money to have some development for this device... without development, its useless... anyone interested? pm me =]

I wouldn't go so far as to call it useless... It's still a solid phone with decent hardware. Just because you can't root it and install custom ROMs doesn't make it useless. I'm more interested in a phone that works consistently everyday than I am the ability to push the hardware to the point of random reboots and overheating. Once I gave up root for 5.1 I've had next to zero issues with the phone and I like it much more.

Yea, my statement is a little exaggerated but no xposed is huge for me personally. I like to play with my phone and customize it. Without root and xposed, I can't do that like I could with my s4 so it bothers me
What upsets me is the fact that devs give up trying to root a phone if a solution doesn't come within a month or two, if the phone is the only variant that still doesn't have a root and it will take more effort than a few tweaks to do it. I've seen it over and over again with so many phones. If I knew how to even begin to look for a root on the phone and I had the money to buy phones that I could burn in the process, then I'd totally work at it.
what I dont understand is theres ppl with the Note 4 that are able to root 5.1.1 using King Root and no one has tried it on any firmware beyond OE2 for us yet..
I know one person said it worked for him on OF1 but need more to confirm before I update and update all my ROMs.

AT&T Galaxy S6 Marshmallow OTA In Next Few Days Confirmed

The support page for the Galaxy S6 has been updated to reflect that it’s going to receive the Marshmallow update on AT&T in the near future. The support page shows that version number G920AUCU3CPC2 will land on the handset, bumping it up to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Now that it has been confirmed that the update is going to start rolling out soon it’s not going to take long for the OTA to hit the airwaves
Nice.. I hope the edge is updated at the same time
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using Tapatalk
Well I see that the OTA can be manually downloaded and installed on the S6, hopefully the file for the S6 Edge is uploaded soon.
i gotta wait fot the odin ?
What's funny is that the build that is available for the s6 is nearly 2 months old so clearly AT&T has just been sitting on it. It has the March security update, not even the April. If this is indeed the final build and what we will see on the S6 Edge I'm very disappointed in both AT&T and Samsung. The 2016 Nexus can't come out fast enough for me.
I know that back in the day we were able to flash 920 Images onto the 925 but would lose the edge features. which . . . havbe been pretty ****ty TBH
+1
So apparently in the regular s6 thread going on they found there are much newer versions of 6.0.1 available right now, the latest being PD6 vs the PC2 reference by samsung that's nearly 2 months old. I guess Samsung jumped the gun and posted the wrong build so we have literally no idea when the update is actually coming right now.
I have absolutely had it with AT&T, their utterly STUPID reps, and their mind-numbingly slow software updates. If anyone else is in the same boat, I ask you to call them whenever you have free time and literally bug the living **** out of them. This is the only way we'll get the update sooner and if nothing else, it's payback. Here's some arguments I've used:
Other carriers have had it for weeks
Two months (today) since the last update
Marshmallow came out 7 ****ING MONTHS AGO and they have a whopping 4-5 phones updated to it (s7, g5, g4, g3, and v10 pretty sure)
Android N is already late in the beta stages
Also, ask for a manager or supervisor. They're more likely to escalate this issue to the higher-ups.
At this point, I honestly think it's just a way of them forcing us into buying the s7. From a business perspective, it makes perfect sense. They do it every year, they don't give us any information on the development of the software, and if no one makes a big deal over it, what's in it for them? Absolutely ****ing nothing.
Together maybe we can move them along.... slightly.

I really wouldn't waste your time/effort on this. AT&T is already aware, and they do not care.
Do you really want to get their attention? Stop buying their branded phones (a lesson I keep having to tell myself since purchasing this AT&T GS6 Edge..). This is a HUGE revenue stream for them - both from the sale of the actual phones at jacked up prices, as well as the kickbacks received from 3rd party bloatware contracts. Get an unbranded unlocked phone and make AT&T your dump pipe. They hate being that.
Suffice to say, I plan on getting either the HTC 10 or one of the new Nexus phones this year. Update and bloatware problems solved.
EDIT: MAJOR props to jetta311xx! He found a new .bin for MM for our GS6 Edges. See below:

Good point. In regards to that link, it's asking me for credentials. Is this this a download for the Odin file so I could flash it to my phone?

Sorry about that - the download link is fixed now.
Rahilm has posted great instructions HERE. These are for the regular GS6 obviously, but the same flashing steps would apply for the Edge, just make sure you're using the right image first :good:

I've tried and tried different commands, but I keep getting " cannot read 'sideload' ". Am I doing something wrong?

Make sure you have a working ADB installation. Try this one

Troy - I was looking around, and you may want to try rebooting your workstation if you're sure you're running the most recent version of adb. This should resolve the cannot read issue.

I am in the same boat, nothing I do will allow it to read the file. I tried on 2 PC's renaming it multiple times, even tried to make it into a zip file nothing is working.

I've tried restarting, reinstalling, re-anything lol. Also tried using .bin and .zip with no luck. Is there a video tutorial anywhere? Good luck to you, and let me know if you figure anything out!
I wish I had better news for you guys. It just seems that ADB can be a little finicky - it's not the update file. I ran into the same issue and once ADB decides to start doing this, it doesn't even bother reading the file.
These are the steps I took and I eventually got it to work:
Make sure that the update file is in the same directory as ADB
Verify that you are running the latest version of ADB
Rename the update to a short filename like "ota" and add the .zip extension
Verify in cmd that the file renamed with only a .zip extension and not something else (eg: not ota.zip.bin or ota.zip.zip)
Restart your computer
Before plugging phone in, run "adb devices" and verify daemon is started with no devices listed
Plug phone in and enter adb sideload mode
Run adb devices again and verify the presence of your device
Run adb sideload update.zip
If doing things in this order doesn't work, all I can suggest at that point is to completely remove all ADB installations, reboot, and do a fresh install of the latest version of ADB. Some people have reported success with going the nuclear route and loading the latest SDK, but it's all very much YMMV.
Its here and working!!!

Omfg I hate and love you at the same time. I'm at work right now, but will DEFINITELY be trying this as soon as I get home.

Just finished the update and everything worked properly. Thank you for posting information on this. Now, the true test . . . a month later . . will it still speed along like its doing right now?
