[Q] How fast do you think it will get Android 5.0 - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

I heard Verizon is slow at pushing out updates but I heard since its Motorola it should be updated pretty quickly. I'd say a reasonable time is within one month of Lollipop being released, not fast but reasonable. Think Verizon can manage that? Very interested in Lollipop.

moto x will get it in December so it should be ready for the turbo by December too. but Verizon wants to go through testing and stuff i hope by january

Hopefully that is the case but not likely. People are saying August 7th but in the end who knows.
I don't understand these people why make user wait too long that make people like me hack the phone i have froyo 2 weeks ago
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
Very unlikely. Verizon has not changed their support site for the Droid yet, still shows ESE81 pics. Also Motorola has not announced anything tangable as to a release date either. All I ever heard was some time late summer, and that seemed to be optimistic. There is also a thread on Motorola you can follow where Matt will let us know, most likely the same day it releases. Store techs have no clue about it, if they did we would all know the roll out date for sure.. Personally I think the Droid will get it the same time the Droid X does. That in turn will follow with the Droid 2 debut with froyo installed from the factory. " this is only my opinion, not facts"

You think so? Just with experience with the Eris and Incredible, I think it'll be a good month or two after the Droid 2 or X get it. Just my thoughts, as well, but you think they'll update an "older" device before or close to the newer ones?

You obvisouly don't know how verizon works. Verizon loves to update old phones when a upgrade is coming, it allows you to try out the OS which the new one will be running and make you want it.
Storm 1 got the update a little before the storm 2 came out.
Droid is still a very popular phone and still doesn't have any selling problems. The update will most likely come out some time early august around the same time the Droid 2 will come out.

Will this phone receive fast Android updates?

Hi, Since i see no news about when the Nexus 6 will be released to the public sale, I need to get a phone since a relative is traveling between november 28 and december 6, so this would be my choice, I was wondering if this phone uses stock android, and if it's going to receive fast updates like Moto X, Moto G? I would appreciate your information, thanks!

Probably will, because Moto X and this phone are really similar phones, so don't worry about it.

Thanks for your comment! but this is more like an assumption right? I would not like to buy a phone that will end it up being like a Samsung where updates are not coming after some time :S

Motorola has the Droid Turbo on their list of phones to be updated to Lollipop but there is no ETA yet on when they will happen. Rumor has it that it will be sometime in December but that depends on Motorola/Verizon.

no lollipop for me?

Hi, I just bought a moto x 2014 in Brazil (not locked to any carriers), and went to update, but it says no updates are available. I read everywhere that lollipop has been out for moto x 2nd gen for a while now. am I missing something? thanks

Not all variants of the Moto X 2014 have received Lollipop update. For instance, my XT1093 has not gotten it yet. XT1095 (pure edition) and maybe some others have gotten the update already.
You'll get it, just wait till it rolls out to you. You aren't missing out on much, believe me.

well actually android lollipop is the thing i need the most in a smartphone. multi-user is the reason I bought this phone right now, I have a band and I use instagram / twitter / facebook / all things that doesn't have multi-user support like google apps, so the only way I can manage everything is with android lollipop.
I had a galaxy s4 with cyanogen lollipop, but phone just fried so I went to the store and bought the best phone I could pay that had guaranteed lollipop upgrade, and when i got home bam, no upgrade. that's a bummer.

All I can say is you'll get it soon, so sit tight.
I was actually expecting a way to force upgrade since it's been out for a while, and I'm not very patient, not good with waiting for something that has not a defined time to get done you know? been waiting forever to get it on my s4, and it never came, had to do a manual install. My phones don't usually last longer than a year or two, so I can't afford to wait another six months for it unfortunately

It won't be six months. You're looking at a few weeks, max. You could look into side loading or flashing a ROM, though I'm not sure what is compatible with your model and what isn't.
I found an OTA download wich supposedly would force update my phone to download the official release, let's give it a shot

I think you're misinterpreting what you found. If it's the actual OTA zip, the file itself will update your phone to the official release... that's called sideloading. Nothing can force your phone to download the OTA if it's not already available. That's entirely up to Motorola or your carrier. And if it is available, you'd be able to get it by checking for it in settings. Post the link to what you found and I'll check it out.
I personally have no issues with it, never encountered the memory leak issue. I was a bit peeved at first they removed the silent mode but once I worked out how to use the priorities for alerts I was fine. Now I just wish they'd roll out lollipop for my Samsung Tab S.

Place your bets on when Android M will come out for the X 2014!

The OG X took a while to get to Lollipop, but the 2014 one has a much newer chipset with modern internals not far from the Nexus 5, so I'm going to say January for the first rollout.
This is a Q&A thread because I want people to be able to vote for the one they think is likely, not because it's a question per se. Go!
January? I hope you're right! I really do, because I wouldn't be surprised if it was much later.
I've read that M is likely to come end of september or October (don't remember if this is on androidauthority, androidpit or else). So my guess is for Christmas. I'd like one company to do it as christmas present. But motorola can even bring it sooner =). So end of november/december for me =)
December. I'm skipping Lollipop, I had some frustrating bugs after the update (lost wifi signal while idle), so I came back to KK
How did you get from 5.1 back to kk did you let it update via ota the fastboot system and boot of kk back or what?
Without knowing when M is coming out, this question is pretty tough for anyone to be able to answer. I would guess around 2-3 months after the official launch by which time 5.2.1 should already be out to fix the many issues caused by 5.2. Have to hope that the distraction of 2 newer mid/high end phones won't delay the Moto X release.
Just flashing ( I didn't flash any motoboot and gpt), didn't take any OTA.
I expect it will be quite delayed as Lenovo is laying off a bunch of Motorola staff.
My guess is Groundhog Day 2016. (I probably have the Moto X Style or a Nexus by that time).
Never. This phone is probably never going to see another update imo. Can't wait to get rid of it.
I'm going to go with 1-2 months after the nexus 6 and 9 get the update. It is likely moto is already working on the update. There is probably an agreement with Google that the current nexus devices get the update first.
Sent from my XT1095
It definitely will, but when is the question.
March 2016

Think we'll ever see 6.0?

What do you think the odds of us seeing 6.0 are?
Will it be 2017 before they get around to it?
With our battery, that improved efficiency would be killer

In about 1 year is my guess. But they might just hold off until January 2017
Wait nexus devices get a stable 6.0 then we begin thinking about it for our phone.
Should have it in a couple months
Tapped out from my Motorola Droid Turbo, featuring Android 5.1. Please pardon my brevity.
This is the reason why I have not upgraded, yet. This phone still has so much potential for the next step in Android. I really hope Verizon and Motorola don't make the same mistake like they did with lollipop. I'll wait until January to see if there is the possibility of having 6.0. But if Verizon drags their feet, I'll jump ship to a more current phone.
The bottom line is nobody knows (not even Motorola/Lenovo) because it's not up to them but to the carrier, which in this case is Verizon. And they aren't going to tell anybody anything.
If it happens before Spring I will be amazed.

It IS up to Motorola to first make the Marshmallow update. When the other Quarks (XT225 and XT1254) get Marshmallow and the XT1254 Droid Turbo still does not have it, THEN at that point in time you can blame Verizon. Until then, blame Motorola.
I have factory version of Quark which does NOT need carrier approval. So, at this point in time, it's Motorola's fault no Quarks have Marshmallow.
