took a risk - Samsung Galaxy Gear

So I bought one of these guys on ebay and In the description it said the power button was broken it had a buy it now for $40 it said it also came with the cradle so I figured sure I'll buy it. I received it today, it honestly looked brand new never used before the protective plastic was still on the screen camera and buckle one problem tho the cradle was not with the watch bummer so I searched and I came across some home made remedies and surprisingly it worked it charged right up turned on everything worked fine on it now I'm just waiting to hear back from the seller about the cradle but still going to buy another one from Samsung but just figured I'd share this lol now I need to find some cool things I can do with this watch any advice?

I just bought one from nomorerack.com. They're refurbs, but they're $88 + s/h (usually $2 per item). Comes with box, cradle, power cable... the whole deal. Got mine a couple of days ago.

Broken miniUSB on device!

So i took off my siedo case just to clean the dirt and other stuff between the case and my kaiser (which i do about once a week) and i noticed that my mini USB port on my device is CRACKED!!
I didn't buy the warranty the ebay seller offered me from SquareTrade, its an ATT Tilt, so do u think ATT would honor the warranty?
This is the best pic i could get using my brother N82...
Any chance that happened while trying to blindly reach the reset hole with the stylus?
Very common mistake!
Just try to bend it upward (carefully) with a plastic or wood toothpick or something like that and it should be ready to go. Don't use a metallic object.
Good luck!

at&t specifically states that warranty is extended only to the original purchaser. Was the phone ever used prior to your receipt? If not them you can probably get by if you play dumb about the original pruchase date as all Tilts are still within the 12 month purchase whindow.
i bought it on ebay for $400 with $30 dollar shipping and it was stated "LNIB" like new in box. But what was funny was when i recieved it the imei on the device doesn't match the one on the box so either could be some funny business or a refurb device with a new box.
anyways after i posted this i was sitting in the library and i used a mechanical pencil with the led sticking out to push it back to place. It's syncing with activesync sporadically, will work then won't work, don't know if its do to this crack or my activesync could be busted (running windows through fusion on a mac)
Its charging fine right now and you can barely tell its cracked, other than one of the metal pins sticking out, i tried to push it back in with the led but the led kept breaking.
I think what caused it was the other day i was driving and had TomTom going and i plugged it into the car charger and put it in my center console. Theres a little edge on both sides of the center console and the charger was resting on it so i think thats what caused it.
If it does completely break off, I can definitely play the retarded stubborn customer and harass ATT till they fix it, I've got experience with these kinda things
Kyphur this happened to me yesterday also, but the whole piece came off... so the pins are hanging in the air... but im still able to synchronized and charge it.
do you think att will honor this one too?
i also cracked mine recently, when i pushed the stylus into the wrong hole =P
i managed to push the thing back into shape gently, and it would charge with the charger and sync with the supplied cable, but i found that it wouldn't sync with my retractable 3rd party cable, and also that if i tried copying files to/from the miniSD card with the supplied cable, the files and the card would become corrupted. this may have been because i used a screwdriver to push it back into shape...
anyway in the end i had to send it and for whatever reason, the service center kept on sending it back saying it "worked", even though when it came back neither my laptop nor the computers at the store i bought it from could even recognize the device. finally at the 3rd sending back they replaced the motherboard and now it works again.

Cheap extended batteries

Amazon has several extended batteries for next to nothing ($7 to $14). My wife wants to get one for her Mogul, but I'm a little hesitant to buy one of these. Can anyone here attest to their quality, or should I spend the extra and go with Seidio or another more trustworthy brand?
Also, while I'm at it, what's a good hard case that supports extended batteries? I found the thread on the Seidio one, but the link took me to their main site and I couldn't find the actual case anywhere.
Thanks.
I have always bought cheap batteries from Ebay with no problems but not for my 6800 yet. I have had one fail where one cell in the battery seemed to die. I had no problem buying a new one since I still wasn't paying OEM pricing still.
I bought one a few months ago and it has recently started to expand when it gets hot. This morning when I unplugged it from my laptop, the battery door popped off. Needless to say, I have another one, from another manufacturer, already bought and on the way.

hd2 speaker dock ?

is there a htc hd2 speaker dock so i can play music right off my hd2 and charge at the same time kinda like the iphone cradle ?
im looking for something portable i can take to the beach or bring by the pool or out in the backyard
Have a look here:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/deluxe-htc-hd2-desktop-charging-cradle-p22701.htm
You do need external speakers with this though...
its only for charging, there are no speakers.
i also wanna warn you, had problems with mobilefun.
i bought 2 po-s510 (leather pouch) and i waited for 4 weeks.
i cancelled my order and ordered the pouches in another shop.
surprisingly, mobilefun did delivered it one day after i got the other two.
so i got 4 pouches, although i cancelled my order.
i sent back and waited about 6-8 weeks for my money.
im happy, cause i get it now, but i never will buy anything at mobilefun.

I cant vouch for the quality but I came across these on ebay.

Could be what your looking for and if its not its not like you'll break the bank.
ps. I know the pic is a Touch2 but the ad is for HD2
I bought off the Kidigi Cradle Deluxe form mobilefun.co.uk. I was a little late with the last batch order, which is why the order took 2 weeks instead of one. But in the end I received the cradle in good condition and works fine. It charges and syncs the Hd2 with your computer and you can plug speakers in the back to listen to the audio from your hd2 through the cradle. At the back of the cradle there is a seperate compartment for charging an extra hd2 battery. I think I am going to order a second one because of my positive experiences so far with the first one.
could you make some pictures please with hd2 in it?
thanks.

hi, forget about this thing. i bought one, a year ago for travelling. the are made for the iphone and so the hd2 dosent fit in. i think thats the reason why the seller nowhere writes hd2 except in the title, maybe its writen accidently, see the pictures i made. and away from that, they are cheap crap and have a lousy sound.
if you want some nice external sound watch out for something like this there are different brands. you can cascade them, and they make nice sound for such small devices.
regards mad
yes they are really cheap, price and quality. I remember giving them away for free at the shoe store I used to work at with any purchase of $10 or more.

[Q] Anyone found replacement back covers?

It looks like most of the posts in this forum are for covers - should've looked here earlier.
I tend to abuse my phones pretty badly - I usually buy a case, but since the options were slim for the Focus when I bought it, I haven't had one. The other day I put the phone in my pocket with keys and the back cover took a beating.
Anyone found a place to buy a replacement back cover? I figured they would be available by now, but I haven't seen any other than one on eBay that's up to $37 at this point.
I tried calling Samsung's mobile accessories / replacement parts line, but no one seems to pick up.
I have one from a focus I sold for parts. I dont know how you would want to do a transaction but id sell it for 20 dollars.

How much for the earphones?
Me too
I sent Samsung Support an email requesting information about ordering one and got no reply. Sent it weeks ago.
back cover
I definitely need to locate a back cover also.
Hi guys. I too broke my back cover.
I called Samsung, and leveraged my way all the Corporate Help Center through yelling at 3 supervisors.
Samsung unfortunately are not producing back cover replacements at this time. :/
However, I went to the AT&T store and spoke to the manager. He gave me a back cover from Focus that was returned to them and said they do that all time, try that. :]
I saw some back covers on sale on ebay for around $20
EBAY
Search on EBAY for "Samsung I917 Battery Cover" and you will find a vendor with used, refurbished and new covers ranging from $19.99 - $29.99.

Dropped my nexus 7 one to many times

So i droped my nexus last night it bounced off my night stand on the way to the ground and when i picked it up it was off. figured wtf hitt the button.
nope it stayed off
press and held the buttons and tried to get it to reset ect. no go it was dead. connected it to the charger and tried again. got a back light but nothing else.
so did the non tech thing (smacked it a few times and pressed the power , came up flaky screen was kind of scrambled. great i trashed my nexus by droping it.
so called Google they made me do all the stuff i already did, no surprise its dead.
they told me to call asus for support. , went to asus site they wanted my sn to make a case, couldn't find find it i know i registered it. they told me i would need to send it in they would charge me 65 to issue a new serial number WTF! and then if the repair was not in warnty it would cost 165 to fix the nexus. 65+165 is more than a new nexus 16 (what i have). so i said thanks but no thanks.
so as i sat and stared at my paperweight i thought why not. i got a razor blade and a butter knife. used the razor to crack the edge of the case off and then popped the back off with the butter knife.
looked around and noticed those wonderful overworked china drones routed one of the wires for the battery round the backside of a plastic support pin. this made the wire very tight and it pulled the connector off the main board on one side of the battery connector creating a short. i pushed the wire on the right side of the support pin and reset the power connector and bam nexus back to life.
so if you dropped your nexus and it boot loops and or just wont turn on when off the charger. open it up and check the battery wires bet you got the same cross eyed Chinese tech and the battery unplugged itself
Thanks for the tip. I use a TPU case for my Nexus 7.

Drop it (multiple times), smack it around, then take a RAZOR BLADE to it?! Good lord.
No surprises here.... None at all....
Cool story bro. Glad you fixed it. I fix most of my stuff too. I'm a techy guy and probably more qualified then the drones that work at the factories.
Just like my wife's Samsung Netbook (back when netbooks were cool). She insisted taking it out by the bonfire where some friends and I were drinking. I told her countless times to take it in before a full glass of red Merlot gets dumped right in the keyboard. She runs inside and plugs it into the wall??!!!
I took it apart and cleaned it up but the keyboard was hosed. I called Samsung for a replacement keyboard but they wouldn't sell me one. I had to send it in. When it got there, I got a call about purple stuff in there and thus the warranty was voided. I said yeah no ****, I told you guys we dumped wine in there. She wanted to charge me $75 for the keyboard and $125 an hour. I laughed and said I only paid $220 for it, for $200 I'd rather buy a new one and see if the old one would Blend.
Bought the keyboard off eBay for $16 and she still uses it like 4 years later.
