One thing you can do its turn off location in google settings. you will have gps but google will nmot try every 2 secongs to find out where are you. This will give you a some extra battery.you can do couple more things but will be root related

You can use this guide to set individual apps to tablet mode, very easy and painless to do as long as you have root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2205834

thanks for all the response. I am quite happy with stock ROM actually, espesically newest Google update 4.2.2 has been great battery life and fixed a lot of issues. so I am kind of not into mode to flash a different ROM so just get tablet UI mode. I know you can modify build.prop, but again it does not quite works from app to app.
i was kind of asking around and see if anyone has some other solution, preferably a safe method that does not mess up system files (and OTA update fails when there's new release Google pushes!).

Way to root I537UCUBMI2

I just flashed I537UCUBMI2, this is the first 4.3 for i537, but I found I can't root it! I can't remove the AT&T software and add Chinese language.
I was just want to give up, lucky, I use one Chinese software called “ROOT大师”, you can just search "VRoot" with Google. Now my phone is rooted, and I have removed all the annoying software.
Good luck.
Can you provide a link for this root method and a tutorial on how you used it? This way there is no confusion for anyone. I for one would appreciate it because I've been on mf1 for months now and have wanted to flash the mi2 leak but I've been waiting patiently for root.

Sorry to reply late, because I am in China.
I will show you the steps in brief.
1. Just flash leaked I537UCUBMI2
2. Go to setting, enable the USB debug. Just like other Android 4.X phone, I noticed we should tick always enable to connect to this computer.
3. Install the "root master", this is a Chinese software, maybe something can't display correctly in non-Unicode computers.
Software download:
REMOVED
After install this software, open this software, connect your phone to your computer, maybe need to install some drivers.
4. Just simply click "一键ROOT", the green button, the phone will restart 2 times, and after that, your phone is rooted.
After your Phone is rooted. The software will show:"三星I537已经拥有ROOT权限“
Sorry, because I cannot post pictures. Just follow the steps, you can make it.
Thanks for replying. I've got everything downloaded and I will try tomorrow after I get off of work. Thanks again.

Be wary of these Chinese root methods. They are known to collect your IMEI number which is not needed for a rooting process. Therefore XDA has not allowed any links to their software at this time.l

Thanks for the heads up. I figured something wasnt right about this. When i searched for this root method every site that i had found was in Chinese which made me start to think about it. Another thing that makes me wonder is that we have had this leak for awhile now and no one else has had success with root and then out of nowhere this pops up. Plus the op doesn't have very many posts here on xda. In going to play it safe and wait on something else.

Rooted anyway. 4.3 is much faster than 4.2.2. Samsung keyboard is better but still doesn't match up to real Swype imo. Battery life is remarkably better. 22 hr 40 mins with 23%. 2 hr 43 mins screen on time. Always died on me before. Seems more stable overall but watchon is broken for me.

Actually piracy is not the most important thing for me. May be this software will collect IMEI or other information, but I think they will not do anything bad, the built-in software is more annoying for me.

Did you use the chinese software?
Kingo root method would probably be better for you than Vroot. Kingo has responded to XDA's request to remove the IMEI collection...it just not has been confirmed but they have always kept communication open with XDA.
Yes I used the Chinese software.

Thanks for suggesting Vroot, tried it on friend's S4 active and worked like charm. Although it installed unnecessary app to manage data when connected to PC which i removed using titanium.

How do I revert back to stock MI3 NO ROOT?

Anyone have the files?

If you have mj4 I don't believe a downgrade is possible
Though you can downgrade from mi5 no problem.
The stock mi3 file is still up at the Samsung update website. I don't remember the link at the moment.

Yup I knew that was previously the case, and was pretty sure there was no workaround.
I hate when they do cap like that to the bootloader.
I'm going to take that as confirmation, as I knew back when mj4 first came out and I was maintain a Knox safe root thread. There were a few issues of people tripping Knox Even on a complete stock uprooted phone attempting to downgrade to run the Vega files.
Just hadn't looked into it since then wasn't sure someone hadn't worked around it.
Though why you would want to go back to mi3 is another question.

Yup, there are a few stock mj4 options (with or without root)
Check the development section.
I personally usually use Odin to flash the full official Samsung mj4 tar.

Just to go Security>Permission control > disable root permission
If you are using any third party root permission managers like SuperSu
Just uninstalling them would work.

"Titanium Backup". You have a lot of reading to do in the general threads. Depending on your firmware version will determine your available root methods. There's Kingo Root,Evilpotatoman's method etc.Read through the threads and then read again to make sure you grasp the methods.

The most effective way to remove bloat would be to root it, install titanium backup, and either uninstall or freeze applications.

I know lots of readings are necessary.

Most people who have updated should have already read by now that it's possible to retain root thru the update. I've seen at least 4~5 guides within threads on how to do this already.
