[Q] Android 5.0? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In light of the recently released AOSP Android 5.0, does anyone have it running on a Z3/Z3 Compact. And has anyone tried the L Camera that's being passed around the Nexus 5 forums?

[Q] Android 4.4 Kitkat

Hey everyone. I was just wondering if anyone ever thought of porting Android 4.4 to the Xperia X1. I've heard that they were able to port it to the Xperia Tipo, a low-end device. They say Google did a great job on the update that it might just run a little faster on low-end devices. I'm going to try and port it myself using this guide I found on the internet http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2284985, but I'd rather wait for someone with the experience.
By the way, what device should I do the port from?

[Q] No Android L for us or?

Will our Z get the L or no?
http://www.androidcentral.com/android-l-will-my-phone-get-update
For now bad news :crying:
,,Having said that, look for an Android L update for the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z2 and the upcoming Xperia Z3. The compact versions, and carrier versions, too. Other phones are a total crapshoot. Sony will do everything they can, but as we've seen, often that's not enough. I'll repeat myself — nobody wants to update to Android L more than Sony does.
The same thing goes for their tablets. The latest models will find a way to get an Android L update, but anything made earlier than mid-2013 is too unpredictable to predict."

do not post questions in the general section!
Besides that, only Sony knows if we will get Android L
what features of L do you specifically need? or is this just a case of having the latest and greatest updates? looks at kitkat, that's not exactly brilliant now is it

Not the same really. More like the people who didn't get Ice Cream Sandwich. Even though the apps still work on Gingerbread you were left behind like some legacy user, Android had moved on.
We depend on the Nexus4.
Meanwile, first wait to receive 4.4.4

Its still a developer preview at the moment.
Also by the time its launched we will be out of the update cycle.
Even if there is no official update, there are lot of capable developers who will port L to Z

According to me will get the Android l but the timing will be very long considering that has not gotten 4.4.4

[Q] Porting Android L

Now I really have NO idea about ROM porting. But I was thinking since the Moto X has a similar chipset to the Snapdragon S4 which the Nexus 4 has, and the Nexus 4 has a working Android L port, and from there, I was wondering, how hard would it be to port the Nexus 4 Android L port to the Moto X?

The devices are far too different for a port.
I am betting there will be nothing for the X until after its officially released... Which will be who knows when.... And when they release source code also, sometime after the update is released.

What kind of problems can an upgrade to lolipop cause?

Hey Guys
I have a rooted moto x on android 4.4.4 and recently motorola released the android 5.1 OTA update for my device.
So i was just wondering if i should upgrade or not, or if there are any known problems because my friend with a nexus 5 upgraded to lolipop quickly and it was a disaster.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Pros and cons of lolipop (IMHO)
Pros:
1) New moto voice (you can set your own launch phrase)
2) Marginal lag reduction
Cons:
1) Mobile standby battery consumption is off the charts in all lollipop builds (No solution in sight yet)
2) Wave to wake on active display is disabled , can't get it to work without tasker (yes it was available in 4.4.4, although not advertised)
3) Internal space consumption is higher due to ART implementation
4) If you're an Xposed fan, the builds for Xposed right now are in the Alpha build stage .
5) Can't revert to 4.4.4 stock without chance of permanent bricking
Hope it helps

Hello. I actually searching for help with my phone and found this forum. I have the older moto x xt1058 (factory just the way it comes) it updated 4 days ago and I have already ordered a new phone diff brand. The phone is a complete different thing now.
Some of the issues include Bluetooth and wifi won't work if both on at same time, wifi connection is random, lots of lag time, turned off then back on a few times, drains battery like Super crazy crazy, and then I didn't like the changes in the way things look...like text messaging changed size and font, the keyboards changed ect.
Hopefully my phone is a fluke and other folks do much better.
Good luck to you and have a great day
