Help with Factory Reset / New PIN entered and forgotten (xperia T) - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hi Folks,
I'm wondering if you could help me please? I myself am pretty familiar with Android, but my missus has an Xperia T which is very alien to me. For instance, finding it has no stock recovery confuses me massively.
We wiped the phone whilst troubleshooting a speaker issue. Once it was set up again, she wanted to change the lockscreen photo. I advised it was probably in the Security menu. I didn't realise this, but she had never known it had PIN lock built in, so she decided to set it and promptly forgot it.
I have been searching the internet for a solution as well as Q&A here. I found in the sticky threads that I could reset it by booting into flash mode and installing flashtool, however the links there and in another thread to flashtool are both dead.
I also found that it could be done by the Sony update service, but this is no longer supported and has been replaced with PC companion - which doesn't seem to do what I want.
I'm not bothered about the data. I moved everything to the external Sdcard before wiping the first time. Can anyone please advise how I can factory reset the phone that I cannot unlock? It's completely stock, unrooted etc
From reading around, am I right in thinking if I can get into fastboot, adb works from there on this phone (unlike others)? If so I will just delete the lock code from the database if it's easier.
Any advise is gratefully received.
Dan

Step 1: Download Flashtool: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
Step 2: Download an appropriate Firmware in the FTF format from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2648320
I would suggest to use the same version, which is installed on your phone.
Step 3: Ensure the driver for the phone is installed and works correctly.
Step 5: In Flashtool, select the lightning "Flash device", then Flashmode. Select your Firmware. As I don't know, where Android stores the information about the lockscreen, you have a bit to experiment. For sure it will work, if you wipe everything and flash every SIN File. But maybe you can save the DATA, therefore uncheck the DATA box at the WIPE section and exclude PARTITION.
Step 6: Click the flash button and turn off your phone. If you connect it via USB to your PC, press immediately POWER + VOLUME DOWN. The notification LED turns green and the flash process begins.

PS: I have the phone since one year, but I still don't fully understand the recovery system. Usually there is a recovery partition, but the Xperia T hasn't one. It is somehow connected with the kernel image ... still confusing.

Thanks, I'll give it a go.
Lockscreen should be in /data/system/locksettings.db, locksettings.db-shm, locksettings.db-wal

Hey @am486 - thanks for clarifying the process. It worked.

You are welcome

Bricked device

I'm a newbie here and doesn't followed correctly steps for install a theme, so it's completely my fault. Now, I need somebody to help me recovering my device.
I tried to install this theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808013
I read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551156 I've rooted the device and applied the instructions for "ClockWorkMod Recovery 5 - for use in future custons rom or partial back-up.-" but then, here is when I do wrong, I went to boot recovery mode (not CWM) > apply patch/update and selected the theme zip. Since then, every time I boot the device, it shows me 2 errors: the status bar process has stopped - And then the screen goes black and return again with the same error. At least it loads the background and icons of the main screen.
The device doesn't ask me for the password before the errors prompt. My device has the stock rom.
Can I fix it with recovery boot > wipe data/factory reset?

Yeah from what you are describing you can 100% fix it. However if you didn't make a backup of any sort then you will need to reinstall your firmware with ODIN3 v3.07. Go to the same thread that you got ClockWorkMod Recovery from and download Odin from there. Then download the latest firmware for your country/region from here (you have to change the country to your own one in the drop down menu and sign up to download files which is free).
Make sure you download firmware for S5830i ONLY whatever you do! Wipe all user data in recovery just to avoid any further hiccups. Then put your phone in Download Mode (Power + VolUP + VolDown when switched off), connect it the PC and open Odin. Use the PDA section ONLY to put the tar.md5 firmware file in. DO NOT use a PIT file and do not tick any other options than the two default ones (Auto Reboot and FReset Time I think). Just follow that to the letter and once ODIN is done, it will almost definitely be back to normal again.
By the way also make sure you run Odin as administrator and that Kies is not running because they don't agree with each other.
I've downloaded the lastest firmware for my country (s8530i, Spain, November) and now Odin looks like this: i.imgur.com /rZ76d.png (no 10 posts yet, sorry)
I've got the device connected via USB and awaiting in odin mode "product name, custom bin, current bin, etc) "Downloading..." message. Should I use the entry "Wipe data/restore factory" from the recovery boot first?
Now, is everything ok, do I press start?
Very nearly but Odin hasn't recognised your phone yet. Basically you see where it says "ID:Com" with 8 grey boxes above the writing, well when Odin has made a connection with your phone one of those boxes should light up and something like COM:1-9 (number isn't important) will be displayed inside the box.
You probably need to install Samsung Kies (search for it on Google) which comes with the USB driver needed for Odin and then it should work. But as I said just make sure you actually kill/terminate Kies from Windows Task Manager before using Odin. If you've already installed Kies sometimes it's just being a pain in the backside, unplug the phone, pull the battery out, reinsert it, put the phone back in Download mode, reboot your PC, hopefully that should do it.
Everything else in your screenshot is absolutely fine. You don't have to Wipe Data before doing it, I usually do it because sometimes it can cause issues. In the worst case you might have to do it afterwards.
Sorry, my fault. The device wasn't plugged. Now it looks like this i.imgur.com /HJz3B.png
Done, device working, thank you very much and sorry for the trouble.
No trouble just press thanks button if I helped though please.

Tutorial unbricking Xperia T JB

This is a tutorial on.how to unbrick your beloved Xperia T!
Should work on.TX, TL and V aswell, just make sure you search for the correct ftf file!
The ftf file in this tutorial are ONLY for the Xperia T lt30p.
So you've bricked your new device with a wrong kernel, Rom, baseband or however?!
Well don't panic!
Usually it should be real simple to unbrick, just follow these steps!
1. First you'll need to install flastool.
Drivers com within the download, all posted at the bottom:thumbup:
2. You'll need an ftf file to flash via flashtool. (here 9.1.A.0.489, you can update or flash a Rom after)
Install flashtool on your pc, install all drivers!
If your phone is turned on and in a bootloop, turn it off!
For those of you that can't turn it on, due to wrong kernel or such, don't worry, all is good!
Place the ftf file you've downloaded, into the firmware directory from flashtool.
On.Windows you'll find it under C:/flashtool
After that, hit the flash button (the top left corner with the flash symbol)
Follow the instructions.
When flashtool tells you to connect phone by holding the back button, you'll find you can't, because you don't have one.
Use the volume down key instead, you'll go Good with that!!!
If the green light goes on, from your notification led, you did everything correctly:thumbup:
Coose the ftf file you've added in flashtool and now you should be able to see things to mark and unmark.
You can now exclude or include things you want or don't want to be flashed like kernel, baseband, firmware, fota etc.
Remeber to check that wiping cache and dalvick cache are marked. It's always of advice to wipe them before flashing!
Now that you've checked all that, hit confirm/flash and let flashtool do its job!
When.flashtool has finished, it will inform you! You can now remove the cable and turn on your device:thumbup:
Remember, after the flash it will take a while till the phone fully boots up, it may even reboot 1 or 2 times during bootup, don't worry there!
Downloads:
Android Jelly Bean 9.1.A.0.489ftf. www.4shared.com/file/kfPSWBWg/AndroidGadgematiccom_Xperia_t_.html

Cheers and have fun.with your T
I am not responsible for you bricking or damaging your device or your devices software! If you follow these steps correctly, nothing can go wrong!

[Q] How to flash D415 back to stock firmware? No guides work.

My D415 has been out of action for about two or three weeks now and it sucks having no phone. I'd like it back but all the hours I've spent trying to fix it have been pointless due to very poorly-made guides that are either difficult to understand or simply false.
If I follow this guide: http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-flash-unbrick-lg-l90-back-to-stock.html
It gets stuck forever on step 7, with the computer refusing to recognize that I've connected the phone no matter what I do. Note that this includes skipping download #3 because I already have the stock KDZ downloaded, could this be the issue?
If I follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/general/guide-flash-stock-kdz-offline-lg-l90-t2803479
It gets stuck forever on step 1, with lg-firmware-rom.com not actually existing.
If I follow other guides, other **** happens, like LG Mobile Support Tool continuously "downloading" the USB driver without the progress bar or anything actually moving.
My computer is getting cluttered with various copies of roms and KDZs and drivers and random pieces of software from all the attempts to do this, I've spent hours trying to get it done, and I'm tired of not having a phone. Could anyone give me a way to do this? The phone is currently on a 5.0.2 ROM with baseband issues and TWERP as its recovery, IIRC. I'm good with computers, though inexperienced with Android tweaking. All I need is a reasonably concise guide that actually works.
Well, the first thing I would do personally is to delete all of the extra files you dont need. It always helps to have a clean work space. Then uninstall all drivers you have installed
.
Download and install the drivers from here: (http://tool.xcdn.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=UW00120120425). Restart your PC and verify all drivers are installed correctly through device manager.
Download this KDZ (http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=FWB7G2U032NVA6P70FE44UV/D41520b_00.kdz) This is the one I used and it works fine.
You also need LGFlashTool, which is what you run first when you're trying to flash back to stock. (http://www.mediafire.com/download/fwrcd3pdj0svjtb/LG_Flash_Tool_2014.zip)
Close out any programs you aren't using just to make sure there aren't any conflicts.
Reboot into download mode, verify in device manager that your phone is recognized correctly. Run LGFlashTool. Change PhoneMode to EMERGENCY. Click on the little folder icon next to Select KDZ file. Navigate to your KDZ and select. Hit normal flash.
When the next screen pops up, just hit START in the bottom right hand corner.
Another box will come up. Where is says Country, select different country. Language, select English. Hit OK.
The LG Mobile support tool will come up and should start flashing your phone. Chill and let it do it's thing.
IF it happens to say that the phone is disconnected, don't hit anything. Just unplug your phone and reboot it into download mode. Should automatically start flashing.
Hopefully this helps. If you want, I can link you to my collection of files I use.
EDIT: This is essentially the guide from above, I'm just linking you to the files I used more or less. I also realize I'm a bit late lol. Hopefully this either helps, or you have it solved.
My phone keeps saying settings stopped working and google play store stopped working over and over and my computer is not recognizing the device? Any help on this?

Backup and factory reset (wipe caches and data)?
If still broken, reflash stock (if you have TWRP then look for a flashable zip, if not kdz is the only way), wiping system partition first.

Android expert needed to repair bricked phone

ANDROID EXPERT NEEDED TO REPAIR BRICKED PHONE
Anyone in my area know how to fix a soft bricked Android phone? I have a Sony Xperia Z3 compact that is not responsive and I've tried everything and scoured the internet, mostly XDA, on how to get it back. I was trying to flash the Sony Concept Marshmallow ROM with the Boot and OTA, per the instructions in the thread. I wiped my device, flashed ROM, Boot, and OTA. Then I rebooted my device and then nothing, but a black screen and no response from the phone. It does not boot up or turn on. The screen does not flicker or anything. I can hold volume down and power and it will vibrate, but still nothing on the device. I can hold volume up and plug in the device and it will show me the blue led that it is connected to fast boot, but I cannot seem to do anything with it at that point. My computer does recognize it, but I can't figure out what to do from there with Flashtool or any other software.
If you are available where we can meet up that would be fantastic. I'm in the Chicago suburbs.

I think you phone isn't really bricked Try this, maybe it will help:
1. Download newest flashtool
2. Download proper .ftf file from the general section
3. Launch flashtool, plug your phone while holding vol down and wait until the drivers install. Unplug the phone after the drivers install.
4. Click a small thunder-shaped button in flashtool
5. Navigate to a folder with your .ftf file
6. You will see a menu where you can select what to flash and what not to flash. You might want to have everything from the top right window selected (data, cache, apps log will be wiped) and everything from the window below NOT selected (everything will be flashed). Click flash and wait for the files to be prepared.
7. You will see a window with the instructions how the phone should be plugged to a computer. Again, plug the phone while holding vol down, the LED will flash green.
8. Wait for the files to be flashed. If you get any error, try the flashing again after restarting flashtool. If you still get errors, reboot the computer and try again.
I hope this will work and instructions are not messed up but clear to you, I wrote them quickly.

Thank you and these instructions are clear. I have tried all this, but the issue is the Phone isn't recognized properly.
And my Flash tool isn't recognizing .ftf files.
Not sure if this will help ... but in your situation guess one is willing to try anything
Try using Flashtool 0.9.10.2beta6 - this version doesnt require USB Debugging to be turned on - which may be the reason the phone isnt recognized properly???
Looks like your boot.img have gone
Now download stock rom and flash only the boot.img,it may work
Good luck
I had something of a similar issue very recently where flashtool wouldn't do it after i had by stupid mistake wiped EVERYTHING.. I think i had lost boot.img. On startup i would get the very first Sony Xperia screen and then nothing else.
After kicking around a few threads for information i downloaded an older version of flashtool, 0.9.18.5, flashed a complete stock rom with that and all was well.

Hmmm.......curious and you have my sympathy.
Did you have any joy at all with an older version of flashtool? From what i have read around the place if you are getting ANY response from the phone at all in terms of the LED or vibration when power and vol up or down pressed then all is NOT lost. Seems it may be a matter of finding the right combinations of tools and ftf files .
When i was mucking around trying to resurrect mine i did have to install drivers (from the directory in flashtool) more than once as i tried different combinations. Was using my Win7 machine at work rather than my Win10 home PC.
good luck. Will be interested to see the outcome of this as any fix is good to know about.

How did you lose it? Because updating to 6.0.1 is not how this happened.
Please share some details - how did you buy the phone, who is your sim card operator, where are you located, and what did you do before you started seeing this error? Also did you contact ATT or Samsung?
This error message is usually caused by a sim card problem. Visit your dealer and get it replaced.

I bought this phone from the second hand website. When I first tried the phone for a week, it was normal without any error.
Then, I saw this website: https://mega.nz/#F!lJQj3JyR!Jky5Fhv0HySHIizJK-K1CA
This website can root my mobile which is for 5.1.1
I have followed these steps but then my phone was in reactivation lock.
I have tried so many methods to unlock it.
I paid for someone to control my computer to unlock it. It was successful.
After unlocked the phone, it was under the situation of losing IMEI.
I had not checked it after unlocked and updated it to 6.0 immediately.
Someone said that he could help me to rewrite it but he could only help me if I go to his place.
However, I am living in Hong Kong that I could not leave to find him.
This phone cannot be rooted.
I had called internet service centre to help me, but they said that it had been out of their service area.
Although they told me to go to their shop to ask for help, my phone is second hand.
I am afriad that they would not help me.
Do you have any other methods to help me?

This problem is very common when updating/flashing roms using recovery. It happend a couple of times on my old galaxy s3. Becouse we dont have CWM or TWRP yet to backup EFS partitions (that is where IMEI is stored) before flashing/updating,there is only one solution to this problem. And it has only 50% chance to work. You must flash original stock firmware using Odin(old one, before you updated to 6.0,for you that is 5.1.1).This will wipe your phone and every data you have on it, so backup your data.
Here you can download firmware.First one is very slow, dont know for second.
https://samsung-firmware.org/model/SM-G890A/region/ATT/
or
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-G890A
Step 1) Turn OFF your mobile and go to Download Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home Buttosn together for few seconds followed by Power button then proceed with volume up.
Step 2) Now open ODIN on your PC and connect your Galaxy to your computer.
Step 3) Once your phone is successfully connected to your PC, the ID:COM box on ODIN will turn yellow and will show the COM port number.
Step 4) unzip the downloaded firmware, u will get a tar file.
Step 5) click on AP in Odin and choose the file ".tar"
Step 6) check "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" options and make sure that "Re-Partition" is unchecked
!!!!DO NOT CHECK "Nand Erase All" IN ANY WAY!!!!
Step 7) Click on Start button in ODIN window to start the flashing process. The process will take few minutes to complete.
DO NOT UNPLUG USB CABLE WHILE EXECUTING THE PROCESS, YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE!
Step 8) When the installation is completed, you read a "Reset " then a "Pass". your phone will restart (first boot will take a longer time so don't panic)
It is recommended to make hard reset after flashing to have a fresh official firmware
I hope this solves your problem, if it doesnt,im very sory, but i belive there is nothing you can do.(for now)
