Because cm recovery is broken, for ALL DEVICES...u should have read that in threads, its mentionned everywhere.
U can flash from sideload, or else u fastboot flash a KK kernel, u flash what u need to, and u fastboot flash back lp kernel.

Guys i can't install twrp recovery
fastboot error
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
anyone know how to install this?

hey guys is it really needed to flash a recovery to the fotakernel or can I also just flash kk kernel when I wan't to flash something ? btw I'm not really in a hurry to try this rom so maybe I should just wait for this problem to be fixed so that the recovery is working well without having to flash a recovery to the fota kernel?

Okay thanks, I will flash the rom soon but this problem with the recoveries will be fixed eventually right? I'm not asking for a ETA or something because I understand that it's difficult to fix it and that it's not a small problem cause something vital is broken ofcourse.

Okay good to hear, yesterday I also flashed this rom btw it's super smooth and a amazing rom:good: but the only thing I have a problem with right now is the random reboots that occur. So maybe I should provide a log to you, only I don't really know how to do that because I never had to provide logs haha. the reboots occur at times when I turn my wifi on or off or other moments but it could also be something else I really don't know actually why it happens sometimes and the other moments everything is as it should be so......

clean flash the rom, and don't restore any apps or settings, if no random reboot for 12 hours minimum; then its becuz of you, not me

stop being a noob and become a newbie bro! by reading in threads or using search button...philz , dual or whatever from stock roms won't work on my roms.
u must fastboot flash a cm11 kernel and make your wipes+ rom and gapps flashing from there. cm recovery is broken for eveyone.
and on cm/aocp roms, recovery in included in kernel so if u flash my rom and the kernel is included in zip pacjage, for sure u gonna loose recovery!

Nice work.
Just flashed this ROM and no bugs at all till now.

Hey there!
I flashed the v7. it starts fine , but after a few mins i get the "system ui" has crashed :/

Being fixed...wait for next build

[Q] Clockworkmod flashing problem

Hello Everyone,
Before proceeding, I have searched my problem, but I couldnt find an answer to it.
I am basically running GingerDX v26 on Stock Kernel, and whenever i try to install (flash) via CWM, it doesnt intalls,
I came to know about this, when I was trying to flash Sound Module by CKKnot, I didnt got the installation files in my respective directories. Furthermore, i tried flashing ICSified settings, but nothing happened.
Am I doing something wrong, or there is bug??
Please report me, and I will be really grateful to you guyzz!!!

What error do you get ? Try flashing another ROM. Does the ROM flash ? I had problems flashing ICS-ified settings on my GDx v27 (I finally did it)
So probably , we shared the same problem...
Or just use X8 Toolbox to re-install recoveries.

everythings work i test it it's owesome:good:
@Mayank77, the roms flash ONLY when i full wipe...:crying:
and this is the reason y i cannot flash some of the flashable zip files.,
PS, it completely shows me everything as normal script, but later when I locate the directory using root explorer, I dont have the files.
I noticed this when I was flashing CKKnots sound module, it related that "delete the files from soundfx folder" later when i flashed nothing was installed!! it was clean. rebooted multiple times but no chance, again i flashed, nothing happened.

You should've told the OP about the kernel requirements before suggesting him that and thus leading him to a soft brick.
I am almost sure he is on stock kernel.
and that ROM is NOT for stock kernel.

[Q] HTC Desire C stuck during boot

Hi everyone,
Recently I tried to follow a post from xda dev on putting a new kernel on my HTC Desire C.
Although I followed all the steps I am now unable to get past the boot screen wit the htc logo.
I have tried a number of solutions to make it work but nothing so far, backup recovery failed, changing to another kernel failed.
I think that at this point it might be bricked, and all that I can see is the logo and a disclaimer message.
Does anyone has any idea if I could fix it, and what do I need to do?
Kind regards,
Florin
Edit: thanks to aashay960 for telling me how to fix this.
The solution was to reinstall kernel and rom (since I made a mess of it initially)
Current config : CyanogenMod 10 + N.O.P.E Kernel 875Mhz

Its not bricked. Tell me which kernel you are trying, with which rom? And try flashing a lower frequency kernel.

I tried the Prometheus Kernel for sense linked in your signature with the stock. I got to the HTC logo screen and it got stuck there. It might be that the method I used was wrong.
Would it be possible to use the ones you do? Cyanogem mode and the N.O.P.E Kernel?
Can I install them only with recovery? And is there and "xda approved" method of installing kernels and custom roms?
Thanks,
Florin
Flash a lower frequency Prometheus Sense Kernel from fastboot.
You cannot use nope for sense roms. Nope is for Jellybean roms only.
As of now we have two ways to flash a kernel on this device. One is fastboot, which I personally use. Second is the auto Boot.img flasher that you will find if you search..
For now, tell me what frequency you tried. And try a lower one.

Hi, I forgot to mention in the previous one that I initially used the 816 one, and then switched to the lower one 767.
Is it worth it to try a "clean install" as in a new configuration with a new kernel and rom?
No a wipe is not necessary.
Just make sure you do
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Try an even lower one.
Now that your bootloader is unlocked. Why not try a custom rom?

Bootstack is a bunch of files deep inside the phone. They are responsible for turning device ON and OFF, having SIM card support or download mode for flashing .kdz systems.
If you want to use stock KitKat or any customROM (KK or L) you need KitKat bootstack.
If you want to use stock Lollipop you need Lollipop bootstack.
Hi,
At the moment I'm running stock lollipop on a d405N. The Phone is also rooted, and i've unlocked bootloader and flashed TWRP 2.8.6.0.
After flashing your KK bootstack, can I immediately flash a custom Lollipop rom and Gapps, and if so will my waveband work?????

Yes. That's exactly for what bootstacks are made for.
If you will have any problems after using those files, let me know.
Also I would appreciate information if it worked so I could mark it as stable.

Thanks for your quick reply,
I see i made an error, it should be baseband not waveband
A few more questions though, before flashing your bootstack should I do a clean wipe?
Also, captivate king says: quote: Flash this after flashing my ROM, and you should be good to go, does the order in which I flash matter or not????
Thanks in advance,

I figured out that you meant baseband
It's not necessary to do a wipe. Changing bootstack does not affect /system, /data and /cache partitions, but if you'll have problems with your customROM you should of course start with a wipe.
There is no order in which you should flash your bootstack and ROM. I firstly flashed bootstack (while being on stock Lollipop) and restarted my phone to see if it worked. I had no SIM support so I knew that my flash was successful. Then I flashed CM.
One more important thing is that you cannot restart you phone if flashing bootstack fail. Also it's recommended to flash bootstack before you boot your customROM for the first time to eliminate any possible bugs caused by wrong baseband file.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask them.

Hi again,
both bootstacks for D405N worked for me, no more problems with baseband and wifi, :good:so thanks again.
I was just wondering, why all the files in the bootstack? Wouldn't just changing the modem be sufficient? I know i'm showing my ignorance, but just when I think I've figured things out, I get back to square one

It's for compatibility reasons. To make sure that everything is working fine I changed all files. It's less secure but more effective.
Hi Xemidra and everyone else.
I have used this for about 12-14 times now, going from stock LP to custom ROM and back, and as far as I Know it's working without any problems.
It's a great timesaver, but wouldn't it be better that ROMs have LP as a base instead of KK, so that using bootstacks or other or reflashing KK wouldn't be needed?
Is it something that a ROM chef could do?? Or is this a CM thing???
Another thought, the modem file used. I've read somewhere that its not just the variant, but that different regions, countries etc. can have different (optimal) modem files, ie what would work great for me in Holland, might be unacceptable for someone in say Brazil??? Anybody know more about this??? I've tried searching for this article again, but couldn't find it. I use google, anybody know a better search engine for these type of querries?

Maybe. I haven't head anything about that. No one complaint about quality of calls etc. I believe that different bootstacks for different variants are enough. Countrys from which I use the .kdz file to create bootstack are random.

Hi,
Am on a d405N myself, but I would stick to the same version aboot as your firmware: D410 v20a fw >>>> D410_v20a_patched_aboot. Stick with what works.
I wouldn't use just any aboot version. It might work, but why take the chance?
If you can't find the D410_v20a_patched_aboot, consider upgrading your fw to v20b first. Firmware is a bit easier to find.
It would be even better to flash a d410 v10 kdz, aand use a d410 v10 aboot. This way you wouldn't have to worry about using bootstacks.
Hope this helps, and stop spamming.

Your phone will from now present itself as D405n.
Because you seem like a nice guy I made a bootstack especially for you and you variant (D400hn).
It's not tested and it may be faulty. If you want to go ahead and download it. From what I read your variant has an unlocked bootloader so I included the stock one.

Well bad news... couldn't wait to get home and flashed it already dear @Xemidra, as soon as boot starts i get a nasty error that says Error: Boot certification verify, secure booting error. Cause: boot certification verify (and about 6 times de number "520")... And it turns off automatically three seconds after showing that screen, if I try Vol Down + Power, release and push the same combination again (as trying to get in Recovery Mode, TWRP in my case) the numbers changed to a 4 digit number (something like 5340 or so), tried three more times to enter recovery mode and I get the factory reset confirmation but as soon as I accept on YES the phone turns off completely and won't turn back or respond (unless I take the battery off and put it back on)
Any ideas on how to come back to life? KDZ? I had a lot of issues with KDZ before, couldn't get the LG software to recognize my phone at all
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I can get to Download mode, but it only says ROOTED (In red) and an user number i.e. USER B47, but LG Flash Tool won't recognize the phone (the drivers are fine, the computer does recognize the phone, not LG Flash tool 2014
Any aditional ideas or should I just forget I had a phone?

Try to use LG Mobile Support Tool ? It always worked for me. Make sure you really have all the drivers installed.
It will flash the original .kdz meant for your phone.
Sorry for all the trouble I guess that the bootloader was locked ? or it needed to be unlocked using oem-unlocked feature.

Post UBL question

Finally I unlocked bootloader and put my first UBL rom, but I've "lost" recoveries (I had twrp/philz/touch).
The question is: should I flash a kernel with recoveries (which is best/working for ResurrectionRemix?) or there is an adb installer for recoveries as the one for LBL?
Sorry for the over-asked question, but I don't want soft brick my first and working ubl :cyclops:
*edit*
The rom itself, only has the CM recovery, but I'm not very sure I can apply the rom update or take a nandroid backup with that.

Flash this via Cyanogen Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...-twrp-f2fs-support-xperia-sp-huashan-t3150230
This will grant you persisting TWRP recovery without needing to flash any other custom kernel. And it works even on a custom kernel too, don't worry
Apply ROM update is possible if the zip is signed and recognised by the CM recovery.. But nandroid backup? Impossible
Have fun in the world of UBL

You're welcome! Hit that Thank button if you'd like to hahaha
Well it might be related to your ROM then..

Probably, but in the "old" LBL version of the rom, with selinux permissive the wifi worked (it seems to give wrong addresses in dhcp/dns area).
There was a .zip fix also, but I think is no good for the new version xD
I'll investigate further
Tunnelling with psiphon (vpn/socks client) works.

Almost solved. Probably some quirks in my network pc settings. Solved via WPS router/android mode. All works, yay =D

I tried Helium Kernel but it stucks at unpacking (I only have TWRP recovery), does William Kernel works on CM Resurrection Remix 5.5.9?

what is current best (active) ROM

Hi all,
I've Z1 which is not used in last 2 years. It has dirty unicorns 9.something, unlocked bootloader and root.
My Nexus 6p is giving troubles so I need to use Z1, I was wondering is there an active ROM right now or devs moved away from Z1 (I ask this cause most of the threads in original development seems to suggest that). I normally don't use ROMs from Android development since I've already deleted those DRM keys and stock drivers/firmware won't be useful (I looked in there as well though, and see only lineage active but the dev doesn't have display anymore)
I'll check AOSP branch from Sony itself until then thought I might as well ask the community.
Thanks

Carbon Rom is the only one active right now which is only for Security updates (they're working on Oreo that's why) and they might update faster if a there's a new vulnerability to fix.

Awesome thanks.
I tried the ROM, does it remove TWRP on flash? (I will ask this in ROM thread I guess)

It does not overwrite recovery.
Twrp is there after you flashed the rom. If the recovery disappears just flash it from fastboot again

I think I figured out my mistake.
I flashed TWRP with fastboot flash boot instead of fastboot flash recovery so it was giving me single use TWRP and so on.
Thanks a lot

This command sends and boots the image you specify to the device.
Similar to live booting a live linux dist
