Hello everyone,
We present to you Android 5.0 AOSP for Xperia Z2. This is for the people that can't wait to see how lollipop looks like on Z2.
== Project status ==
Working:
- Bluetooth
- Wifi
- LED
- Texting (with OTA 1)
- Calling (with OTA 1)
- Sound
- Sensors
- Auto-Brightness
- Vibration
- Screen/Touch
- SELinux
- Mobile Data (with OTA 1)
- everything that's not in the "not working list"
Not working:
- Camera
- Mic on calling??
- Youtube Video Playback
- GPS
- ....
== Updates ==
OTA 1
The OTA 1 is a flashable ZIP. It contains a new kernel that now has a recovery, however, in order to flash it on the base ROM without the first OTA, you will need to flash a kernel (any kernel for Z2) with a recovery, then flash the OTA (maybe via ADB sideload).
After the OTA has been flashed you will have a kernel for this ROM with recovery, so you will not need to repeat this procedure again in the same way (but for the next OTA simply boot into the now existing recovery).
OTA 1 will give you complete sound (with headphone jack detection and proper audio routing; sound in calls might work only via headset) and mobile data.
THE OTA IS NOT A FULL ROM! YOU FIRST NEED TO FASTBOOT
FLASH THE IMAGES FROM THE MAIN DOWNLOAD. IF YOU FLASH ONLY THIS,
IT WILL NOT BOOT!
- You have to be on the main ROM first; if you are, go to the next step, if not, see the main instructions first
- Download the ZIP (see Download section)
- Flash any kernel for Xperia Z2 with recovery
- Boot into the recovery
- Flash the OTA 1 signed zip
- Wait until it's done (it might take a moment)
- The update will tell you when you can reboot
- Reboot
- Test&Report!
Thank you for choosing krabappel2548 + cheep5k8!
== Download ==
Download all files from the correct device folder, can be found in the common-files directory, system and kernel are in the version directories
- ROM: Xperia Z2 AOSP 5.0 Beta v2.0
- Gapps can be found in the main directory
- OTA 1: Xperia Z2 AOSP 5.0 Beta OTA 1
- OPTIONAL: Sony's Unified Kernel built for Z2 (UNOFFICIAL) (includes patches for voice calling, video playback, etc.; basically, everything works except for camera)
== Already on this rom?? ==
No need to wipe data unless I tell it in the thread
- Just flash system.img and boot.img using fastboot.
- Don't forget to flash gapps by hotbooting a kernel with recovey
== Installation instructions: ==
- Wipe userdata in recovery
- flash all 3 partitions using fastboot
Don't do this when you don't know what you are doing!!
You can flash gapps with any kernel with recovery. Just flash back the AOSP kernel to boot into device afterwards

Awesome, big thanks, will test tomorrow dude, this is looking promising

You need the proper libs & HAL for GPS.
Take a look at other repos for 4.4 like CM/Vanir, for example:
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_sony_shinano-common/tree/cm-12.0/gps
As for the camera, are permissions are correctly set in /dev/* ?
Is SELinux correctly set up?
Are you using the correct build definitions in BoardConfig*?
Again, a good reference: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_sony_shinano-common/blob/cm-11.0/BoardConfigCommon.mk
But be sure to use the CodeAurora hardware repos

Just flashed in UK to D6503
Hello, I have just flashed your ROM and I can confirm that calls and other SIM functions are NOT working.
I am on 02-UK, and the signal bar shows nothing, and if I try dial a number it gives me a no SIM error

This is great, glad to see some talented dev's getting into building this stuff.
Also liking the fact that you've managed to build for almost all devices, really cool.

Looks like I would try this with a bluetooth headset and see if calling works then.. Thanks so much for the work!!

Keep doing ur GREAT work. i will donate to this project. Cheers.

I am truly impressed by how far this have gone, flashing and testing now !
Note: I am not a developer, but I sure do wish I was.

krabappel2548 ... i have to thank you!
i follow your threads on Z1 and Z2 becauae i own a Z1 and my girlfriend owns a Z2 ... i'm very exited what an amazing job you did!
i will spend 10€ exactly the moment your rom works as a daily base (calls and mobile data working)
It's amazing! thank you!

Sadly, not much works as advertised.
Certainly not calling (it didn't even ask me for my SIM PIN), sound wasn't working at all, I didn't get to tryin Bluetooth. I had to flash back to my current WIP...
Maybe if we worked together to get this m-f up and running?
Have to leave for work now.. TTYL

I flashed everything, booted it
My phone is D6502, The sim card is not detecting.
Is there any modem files or something that needed to be flashed?
And also, wifi is not working, modem issue?

Aight , I will wait .

I have just tried the Beta 2.0 on my Xperia Z2 (D6503) and the Wifi doesn't work (doesn't turn on). I also haven't been able to connect my Moto 360 through bluetooth, although I can't confirm if BT doesn't work at all or not.
If you need help to test a possible fix don't hesitate to ask me!

wow nice =)
kool to see u back in action @krabappel2548 !!!

Update coming tonight which should have modem etc working. Anyway I'm working together with other devs now

So I almost bricked my device doing this
However, I understand OP stated that I should not do this if I do not know what I'm doing. But I am willing to take the chances... If I get the appropriate help.
Now my phone is back on the latest Stock 4.4.4 23.0.1.A.0.167 build. Should I go to custom rom and upgrade to Lollipop from there or is there a way to do it from Stock? (no recovery installed)
It might be quite obvious that I should do it from a Custom Rom, but I have erased System, Boot, Cache and recovery through fastboot and when I flashed it again, boot loops with "Sony" only showing. Isn't a clean installtion (like I did) better than Custom Rom+Recovery?
Any help is appreciated.

Trough flashtool, but that will wipe your internal SD.
Its nice, that sony starts to share 3.5 Kernel, like i see on github.

Take care about what bootloader you are using, this ROM is only for the new bootloader.
Always create a backup before flashing, to have a rescue option when something bad happen.
IMPORTANT NOTE before installing
Create a backup of your existing rom.
You can't go back by just flashing over an older android version.
Clean install is recommended

OTA can be found here: Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates
If you are using "SlimKat 4.4.4 (build 6.9 - 20140729-2210)" and you like to use OpenDelta OTA, you have to replace the apk.
I had an error inside the OpenDelta config, so the included app wont finde any updates (This is fixed in later releases).
To replace you will need to use adb and replace the apk (apk can be found at the end of the thread). Therefore open comand window and type:
- adb root
- adb remount
- adb push OpenDelta.apk system/priv-app/
How to change filesystem to f2fs?
Since 8.4 this rom uses f2fs as filesystem for system and data partition.
Here is how to change the file system:
- Use the latest twrp recovery with f2fs support form here.
- Boot into Recovery
- Select Wipe (1)
- Choose Advanced Wipe (2)
- Choose system and data (only one at a time) and than select Repait or Change File System (3)
- Select Change File System (4)
- Select F2FS (5)

Well at least it boots for now there is hope after all. Now if pengus77 could shed some light on how the 3.x kernel is going along, that would be awesome
Test to install with full wipe and with none-neon gapps and found first boot take a little bit longer time and got many error about setting can't do any thing so decide to make new install with slim gapps YES i can pass to use the phone like normal rom :good: BUT now switch back to JB because
-WIFI not work as said at OP but I need wifi.
-InternalSD not mount and error notification said blank sdcard or unsupport BUT external sdcard can use via /storage/sdacrd1 so /dtorage/sdcard0 unuseable.
-Camera and gallery force close I think because of not detect internalSD.
-random reboot BUT it very fast to back to lockscreen.
hope WIFI work next version and will test again.

I am trying to fix wifi next.
Than internal sd-card will follow. I think I know what needs to be changed. Now that the phone boots again, I can do something.
On LG E610 L5 there have also been reported some issues regarding wifi, not sure if the same as here, but on L5 the issue are related to wifi cryptation where wep and wpa2 works, but not uncrypted......just wanted to mention just in case. @PecanCM works on it.

Thanks, I will take a look at it.
I know the people from PecanCM, so if its the same problem it should be easy to ask them for help.
wow respect @DJNoXD i tested it and it's very smooth and i've ca. 230MB of RAM free to use (after clean install)
hope it will be stable soon
Just a wifi question, are the issue related to wpa? By that I don't mean wpa2. Just wanna know because on LG-E610(L5) there is no problem with wpa2 and wep.

Wow roms coming thick and fast now, this is brilliant thanks... do we have installation instructions and a bugs list please ?
thank you for your good job!
maybe LTE will come soon either!
Jeez... i feel like i'm playing with my Touchpad again. nice work
WOW!!!!!!!!
I have done something weird with BT on this release, its not working. I'll fix this tomorrow.
Sorry for the few leechers, i have deleted the file and re-upload with same filename to add the bluetooth fix. But at least bt should work !
Does it need to be installed on top of cm11? Tried to TWRP factory reset then install a couple of times and just got stuck of grey kindle fire logo, wiping cache/dalvik didn't help.
You should just need to wipe system and data. Did you installed the first zip ? I forget to remove some oc code in it so it could be that. Also, it could be useful for me to know if it worked for someone
Don't think I wiped system, just basic factory reset in twrp. Tried with the original zip, downloading the new one now and will wipe data too before installing.

No luck I'm afraid, stuck at grey logo again. CM11 installs fine but both CM12 zips won't cooperate.

Then we'll have to wait for more reports to see. At least it work fine here so maybe I need to update twrp or your firmware files. By the way, what is exactly your device ? Mine is thor 16gb WiFi only, and I comes from 3.2.4 bootloader but updates non-hlos (firmwares) to 4.5.3.

I just updated the twrp recovery thread to lollipop sources, dunno if it can change something. Just be sure to have a working system before flashing it in case of problem, which should'nt happens : http://android.mydedibox.fr/hdx/twrp-recovery-hdx-thor-2.8.5.0_2015-03-09.zip

Yes we have made a test build with camera and it works but not fully and will
Not released in near future we revert the test build commits and now its complete without cam and we will bring it back only if its fully working
No but we are working on community drivers based on aosp but i will not relase any build with camera now
Edit: it seems that David viteri has fixed audio for Z3 and maybe his commits fix audio on z2
Audio and Video playing is fixed in the next build but the colours on Video are totaly wrong like on Android l aosp
Next build will be avabile tomorow and now i will use it as my daily driver
Wow this thread just made my day! Been dreaming about working aosp build for z2 for so long! Do you accept donations for your awesome work?

Smoothness of Stock ROM with greatness of OMS Themes!
What is AOSP?
AOSP is Android as Google publishes without other modifications. More or less AOSP is the Nexus devices stock rom without gapps.
Anyway, to get a working system I added some changes from CodeAurora Forum and CyanogenMod. I also added Non-AOSP features for a better user experience ("Clear All" button in Recents) and I'm NOT going to add something other.
What is OMS?
OMS stands for Overlay Manager Service and was developed by Sony, just like RRO - so overlays could be downloaded and managed through a client.

That layer theme is not updated I guess..That's why it's not supported..Try Art Reborn layer theme..It's good! :good: Btw guys, I need testers for a new Official Sony UI ROM based on Marshmallow..Message me on Telegram app. My username- STRYDER_007
something's wrong with recovery or maybe just my device, I can't access microSD, heck I can't even access sdcard (internal storage) so I can't install GApps
I had to install another recovery via adb and it's a pain to do so lol
So far the the 6.0.1 Rome is the is the least hot and works most stable. No Fcs. Everything goes as it should.

Calling doesn't work for both sides, neither mic nor speaker work. But Whatsapp calling works.
But i tried AOKP rom and on both roms i cant hear in call
I am a massive fan of what slimROM has done for my past phones and I think this is the closest I will get to a slimMarshmallow rom right now.
Thank you, thank you so much! Can't wait to try this out

awsome to see you here from xperia sp to xperia z verry nice going to check this for now
Thank you for the great rom. We can put up if camera would not work, but the ability to make calls is the important function of the rom This rom is very nice, so we will use only sms for a little time and wait the update

Introduction
First public Android 9.0 builds for Kagura! It`s pure AOSP from Google with few modifications by me and general configs/tweaks from Sony Open Devices Project. Let`s make our XZ great again!
How To Install
Download all needed files of latest version: ROM, TWRP, OEM, Magisk, GApps (arm64, Android 9.0, nano)
Flash latest TWRP using:
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]fastboot flash recovery [your twrp image name].img[/COLOR]
Flash latest OEM using:
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]fastboot flash oem [your oem image name].img[/COLOR]
Reboot your phone to recovery by pressing Vol- and Power Button together - Sony logo must appear, then TWRP will boot in ~15sec. PHONE MUST BE TURNED OFF!!!
When rebooted to recovery, format /data, then do wipe /data /cache /dalvik, put ROM, Magisk and OpenGapps zips to internal storage
FOLLOW NEXT STEPS AS THEY ARE DESCRIBED HERE, IT`S VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Flash ROM (universal for both F8331 and F8332) and DualSim patch if you`re using F8332 (head to F8332 folder)
Flash Magisk
Flash Gapps
When finished, reboot to system as TWRP suggests you. Phone will reboot twice, it`s OK, after second reboot it will start to boot to system
Bugs:
[*]Notification light
Night light (can`t be fixed)
Official TWRP can`t mount /data (TWRP`s issue, wait for update, or use AdrianDC`s one)
