[Q] Miui For N6 - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear Xda's ,
Will N6 get the taste of MIUI V6 by next year .

You're going to have to wait until MIUI merges with Lollipop first.

Any updates on this from them? That would be nice to have for the n6
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

No idea, developers don't reply to questions like this.
It'll come when its ready.

Yeah I guess we have to wait...

I am using 360 launcher which is very miui like, in the settings you can even disable app drawer. Has a ton of themes, not quite like Xaiomi. Unfortunately a launcher is not the same as a rom but it's holding me over

All we know from what Hugo said is that they will release lollipop "soon" I say give it 6 months

I can't wait that long gonna go crazy lol jk I really enjoyed it when I fist got my "Glacier" and man it was awesome!

I have multirom and I would love to just see how well Miui works and see how it functions. It would be a secondary install for me just to test for fun. Not sure why people would want it as a daily driver, but as you said, to each their own. Maybe they like the functionality of Android but iOS style of Miui?

I have a Nexus 6 and an iPhone 6 Plus and would love some MIUI action. Its nice to have options.

Major bump again. With android M coming down the road and no look of MIUI, I have very small idea of the plans for MIUI and when lollipop or even if lollipop is already available as MIUI, I would be interested in even trying to port it if it were.

Not exactly a MIUI fan (if I wanted an iPad looking OS, I would have bought an iPad) but new ROMs for the nook are always good as far as I'm concerned.
I think MIUI is pretty good with some great custom applications. I just hate that they use CM7 as a base and give no credit or even mention of it. Wouldn't bother me as much if they were open source.

That's pretty crappy, that right there is enough to keep me from ever trying their stuff.
Oh yea, and I'm not a fan of the iPhone interface. That being said, more development support is never a bad thing.

Miui doesn't steal from CM7, its Ultimate Droid that does. Miui is famous for being built from the ground up. And while it does have a similar interface to ios, it also pushes android to the limits of customization with its built in and highly advanced theme manager. Variety is a good thing.
Edit: wait dal posted that about stealing from cm7 so maybe it's more credible then I thought. Do explain, hahah I'm curious cause I hadn't heard that and I've been rocking it on my evo. And of course open source is always best.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
I was also under the impression that it was built from source. Eh, not interested enough to research.
And you're right, choice rules. I might not prefer MIUI but who cares, the whole point is that we can both like Android while tailoring our phones/tablets to our specific needs and preferences.
Anyone have a solid release date? e.g July 15, 2018?
I know the knee jerk reaction of a lot of android users against MIUI is that it's too much like iOS.
I thought the same thing in the beginning, but i tried it out and it's really not. I guess the icons are alike but MIUI allows you to customize theming more so than CM7 does.
Theme chooser basically just changes the color of everything.
MIUI lets you customize icons and make it more of your own theme.
I dunno, personally i keep it very simple so i don't even use MIUI, but just sayin, don't knock it till u try it

MIUI

I know it's early in the day but I'm just curious as to whether there is any user interest here for a nice working build of MIUI and more importantly are there any devs in these parts that think they are up to working on this? I'm considering giving my Note 2 to my wife and getting this phone.
I'm sure it will.
This phone has only been out for 3 weeks. Just be patient. There will be tons of options in the future.

Happy to see that the demand is apparently there. Now the question is are there any Devs that share our interest.
I loved MIUI and used it on my OG Evo 4g, but I'm guessing it's going to be a while before we see a stable release on the S4.....There isn't even a "stable" release on the S3 yet...and yes I know there's a release on the S3 that claims to be stable but it isn't so.
I gave up on the MIUI update for the Note 2. lol Happy with the S4 Sim Rom for now. I think development will pick up once they figure out the update kernel issue.
Man, do I miss me some miui from my et4g days!

Overall is a fun rom to play with. The themes are fun, especially within the launcher. Some themes allow you to swipe up and you then have a desktop theme to play with as well. The big frustration I have with miui roms is the fact that many of the themes are in Chinese and they're not translated to English. So it looks a bit odd with Chinese characters on your lock screen .

like most people said already...the themes, but I like it cuz it just feels like a totally new phone when you have MIUI. It's so customizable.
the themes are a nice touch, i prefer using a open source rom that looks like aosp and features a theme engine similar to miui though

I Personally love the lockscreen the most on MIUI but the theme setup is amazing. the 4.2.2 lockscreen is nice but on MIUI its so much cooler looking and i love how easy it is to activate the music player and the look of it.

"stock" doesnt get ported to any nexus device, since they run "stock" default. to port sense to a nexus is extremely hard as it needs htc's framework, and if it does happen it would be partially if any bit at all. this will take lots of time and effort! and considering sense is not open source, you will not have any direct access to its code. anyways, considering that people are still trying to port the last version of sense, i wish you good luck.
I encourage all development but this might be quite difficult with closed sources and the framework. If XpLoDWilD can hack into the snap dragon processor and enable always listening from the low powered core then this is possible as well. I doubt devs of that caliber will focus on porting sense to a specific device non htc device though.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
well, you need damn good smali and hex knowledge, as you need to modify the bootstrap in a special lib and add support for s800 ://
it is possible but hard to achieve (well, last word is maybe incorrect, im sorry for that )
Best regards,
OldDroid
I doubt that you will ever see it happen. Which is too bad because of all of the different overlays Sense is by far the best. Unfortunately HTC is not particularly forthcoming with the source code for, well....anything. Having come from the Amaze (Ruby) HTC proved to be very difficult to deal with.
this would be amazing.. loved sense 6 the second I saw it.. but it would be great even if I got a kind of launcher at least. Stock android is great too
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Sense is closed source.
They are releasing blinkfeed in the playstore in the coming weeks/ months. You could easily download a sense like launcher and icons. I did play with the newest m8 at the ATT store and I can say I was very impressed. You could also make the clock widget in zooper, combine all that with blinkfeed and you have yourself an almost sense experience.
Go buy the "new" HTC One

It's possible, but it would be extremely difficult and would require reverse engineering of the libs and some binaries, as well as likely needing a fully modified kernel and ramdisk. By the time it got fully stable, if it ever did, we would probably be at the release of sense 7.

Good job! I came here to link to that thread.
For anyone confused by the title, check out this post in the thread.
In my several years on XDA, I've seen a few attempts to port OEM skins (usually Sense and Touchwiz) to devices from other manufacturers. Of those attempts, exactly zero of them were successful. As much as I'd like to see this (and I would - Sense is actually pretty awesome), it's just not going to happen.

This is really cool, and I hope it ends up working. As of right now, it's only partially functional, which is about as far as most of these ports get.
Don't get me wrong - I'm pretty excited about the possibility of this. It's just that I've seen a lot of these before, and they always end up going dead after a promising start. Here's to hoping this one is different.

Hate to be that guy asking devs for anything but pretty pretty please can we haz a straight Pixel ROM for our Nexus 6.
Sent from my Nexus 6
I don't think you're going to see one. The closest you'll get is to port the Pixel's 32-bit apps over to the Nexus 6, since none of the Pixel's 64-bit firmware will work on our device.
Oh man, I'd love to see that too! Sadly, I don't think it's possible. Could be wrong, development never ceases to amaze me

To make a 32bit app of a closed source 64bit app? No love is enough to achieve that.
So if you want Pixel on you Nexus, you'll have to buy a 64bit phone, either the 5X or the 6P.
Oh well I never keep devices long anyways. Just wishful thinking/pissing in the wind

And they can do that because they have a 64-bit processor in the 5X. We don't. We should however be seeing a developer preview of Android 7.1.1 drop soon for us, with the finished product to follow.
Wow Having a nexus and asking for a ported rom is like having a Mustang but wanting to put a pinto engine in it.
