Broken top speaker grill - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Somehow top speaker grill started to peel off and I broke it off and also top speaker stopped working because of it. Do I need to replace both speaker and top cover? If so, where can I buy these parts in Europe?

Thing is speakers come with the screen... U need to replace full front part.. I mean screen and both speakers........... I had got it done last month.

Speakerphone grill

Hey people, does anyone knows where to buy (online) little metal grill that fits on speakerphone for my HTC Legend. I try to search ebay but with no luck. Can anyone help me to solve this problem?
Thank you in advance...
You need to buy the main chassis for the phone for this part..if you need one i have a spare but its attatched to a broken LCD (and working digitizer)
AFAIK this does not come with chasis (just ordered one from htcrepairparts.com, still waiting) But I need one too Friend threw me a backpack with my phone inside and it hit a metal pipe just above the grill...display works, but there is a huge dent and the grill is all squiffy...
Also no luck buying it online...I'll try to repair it when the housing comes...
whats that "grill"??
It's the metal thing covering the earphone (see attachment).
BTW: I've tried to take my Legend apart and it looks like you have to remove the digitizer from AMOLED to remove this grill, so changing it would be problematic at best...I'm gonna let it be as it is
oh thats the grill
maybe u can use another stuff, not the original one?
See this site
I used it to change my grill which i got off ebay with the chassis
I was only able to dismantle my Legend thanks to this site...
If it comes with a new chasis, I'm gonna ghange it too, but the specs didn't indicate the grill...I'll just wait till it comes.
Right ive taken my "spare" legend apart... I have a speaker grill in Grade B Condition (has one little bulge where the LED is)

[Q] Broke the exterior speaker, need some advice.

So I dropped my nexus today, everything looked ok it turned on and no cracks or anything. But I was using the gps later on and it was making weird sounds. Then the speaker just stopped working. I figured out that I broke a connector on the speaker cause when I press down on the center of the speaker very lightly with back end of a pen it will make sounds.
Can I fix this speaker or should I replace it?
For those of you who have taken apart a nexus how difficult is it to replace the speaker?
Any other advice is welcome too.
Super easy to change the speaker.
Yeah, extremely easy. Remove sim, remove MicroSD, and remove 3 screws from the frame around the battery (2 TORX, 1 phillips). Then use a plastic pry tool, used credit card, or fingernails to pop the plastic frame around the battery up. There are clips along the edge between the metal and plastic frame. Once it's up, pull it out as part of it is tucked under the metal bar at the SIM/microSD area. Speaker is press-fit into the frame. It just makes contact to 2 gold posts with 2 tiny gold springs. Maybe one of those just got dislodged and can be bent back into place, but you can just push the speaker out of the frame to replace it if it's defective.
Thanks for the help, I'm gonna order a replacement speaker and fix it my self.

Replacing speaker cover

Hi all. I damaged the bottom speaker grill on my M7. Is it worth it and easy to replace?
How is it connected?
Also is this a genuine OEM part? http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-htc-one-top-cover-and-bottom-cover.html
They should be genuine yes. Heat the grill up, being careful not to overheat the phone and melt anything, then prise off the grill (its glued on), replace with the new one and press it down hard. Ideally you need to clamp it down until the glue sets otherwise you will have a large gap, use a strong bulldog clip or a clamp of some sort.

I scratched mine on the bottom speaker grill two days after i bought it also trying to find a way to replace the grill.
Just a heads up. The top speaker grill with the sensors in it is screwed from behind on one corner. Only the bottom one is able to be removed with heat. In addition, the speakers are mounted in the frame from behind, So you will need to remove the chassis (which you will not do without damaging the housing.
So anyone attempted this yet?

Speaker Grills

I would just like a consensus of how many folks have Sprint HTC M8 where the speaker grill holes don't line up on the top and bottom speakers (on the right side) I called HTC and they said this was normal. While it may be nit picking, I don't expect this on such a high end phone.
the top is shorter because of the camera. the camera lines up with the rest of the grill on the bottom
This is normal for many phones. Both the Nexus 5 and the iPhone 5s have a consistent misaligned speakers throughout the line of their products
But yes, both of the speakers are offset to the left on my HTC One m8 as well

The actual speakers aren't all across on the bottom or top, they're both on the left side.

I have a different issue with the speaker grilles. I returned my first M8 because the metal(?) plate on the bottom was raised on the right side where it meets the screen, instead of being flush like it's supposed to be. The new unit I got is perfect at the bottom, but now the upper grille is very slightly raised where it meets the screen on the right side (to the right of the camera). I can push it down, but it comes back up after a few minutes (like there's some kind of adhesive that doesn't hold it down properly)... Minor, but very irritating! Anyone else have problems with the speaker cover plates not being flush with the screen?

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I recently bought a used m8 ATT off someone and converted it to the GPE. And now I've noticed that this phone has the metal on the top raising above the screen (right side around the camera). I can push it down but it comes back up after a while.
I contacted HTC and they said that the phone is under warranty but I would have to send it in for diagnostic to see if it qualifies for a warranty repair or they would quote me how much it would be to fix.
I unlocked the bootloader on HTC's website which I'm pretty sure voided the warranty and they will be able to tell no matter what I do. So does anyone know how to fix this annoying issue? DIY style that is

Yes, I fixed mine by just lifting up the grille (it's actually plastic and just held on by adhesive) and applying some new adhesive to the back of the grille. I wouldn't use super-glue, but something a little thicker/gooier to fill the gap. Maybe a dab of silicone (I used something silly... "liquid skin" from the first aid cabinet. It worked, but I wouldn't recommend it because it slightly discolored the coating on the back of the grille!). Good luck!
You can also find replacement grilles online that will have fresh adhesive, but you have to do some searching and I think they come from China, so you'd have to wait a while for shipping.

Was yours only raising up on the right corner? If so was it hard taking the whole cover off without messing it up?

Yes, it was only raising on the right corner. I didn't try to remove it completely, as I just wanted that side to stay down. Just use something to apply adhesive carefully to the back of the grille (it's flexible plastic), then stick it back down (and apply pressure until it dries).

[Q] Both Mi8 Speaker and Microphone Grill have mesh ?

Greetings Folks
I got my Mi8 Global used but in immaculate condition the only aesthetic I found odd was the speaker grill on right it doesn't have the grill mesh like the one on left side before as my phone is in Black and I didn't notice much but today I was cleaning my phone up I noticed the tooth brush went far in on right side (phone up faced) the speaker side but I could feel grill mesh on left side
My question is all mi8 are like that or I got it this way?
If it's just my phone maybe previous owner poked then for rattling sound often caused by water sealed phone (sure our phone doesn't have a IP rating but we all know Xiaomi and Oneplus both have designed mi8 and op6 keeping tht in mind
