Android 5.0 Lollipop - Galaxy Tab S General

Any idea if this will be released for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5" ?
Thanks.

Either december or early 2015. Thats my best guess.

First, they will update the new smartphones aka Galaxy S5 and S4, Note 4 and Note 3, Galaxy Alpha.
Afterwards for the tablets, I think in March/April

Cheers bro

tablets are always the last to receive support

I'd rather wait for cm11

I don't even want touchwiz with lollipop its horrible! Hopefully some dev ports cm12 from the Nexus 9 over to SM-T800

I have cm12 booting on the t700. Unfortunately its a bit crash happy ATM. Hopefully will have something to release soon.

Awesome! Keep up the good work!:good:

please do a version for t800 please please

I sort of having it booting on the t800 but it just flashes the screen between black and the cm wallpaper every 5 mins or so, but mostly stays on a black screen. adb isn't working so looks like the a kernel issue so will take some time to track the issue down.

I am looking to purchase the the 10.5 version of this tablet. I would to try lollipop on this tablet as the nexus 9 isnt to good. I returned it last week.

Sounds like you and I are in similar boats. Check your build.prop and look for
persist.sys.usb.config=mtp
If thats the way its set change to
persist.sys.usb.config=adb
(You are probably having issues with libEGL and BAD_DISPLAY)

Ubuntu for Tablets Build Out. Port now for touchpad

Do people honestly understand how difficult it was to get cm9 and cm10 on this device, let alone porting something completely different.

But there's already a full Ubuntu port for the Touchpad, can't be much harder to get the Tablet edition ported.
I ordered a HP touchopad from ebay this morning couse i am able to got the ubuntu Tablet build to work in my emulator and i just cant spend 400 on a nexus 10. Should work. the port will come.
If the port will come, that will be awesome.
Check here tomorrow:

that thing is just a demo version so far. i just had it on my nexus4 and its a nice proof of concept but far from everyday use.

You don't have to post that in every topic. Just because it's a demo version doesn't mean it has no value to port to our Touchpad. We already have alpha's for CM, full Ubuntu, Slackware etc. so one alpha more with a real tablet interface is welcome.

Porting to touchpad
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
heres what it says on website
You can find all the needed Android git repositories at http://phablet.ubuntu.com/gitweb. This is basically a mirror of CyanogenMod 10.1, but containing only the needed low level services used by Android (e.g. no Dalvik at all).
As we're using CyanogenMod, we can easily take advantage of all the devices that are officially supported there.
It looks as though porting to our Touchpad should be very nearly cut and paste. Am I correct?

Ok did you even try this Build yourself?
I did and it is a demo. Its not working properly when it comes to more than as sliding the Desktops or starting and closing apps. people get excited and think its a daily driver already. no its not, yet. its just a show of concept. We have alphas from CM running on our touchpad, BUT the CM OS behind that is not alpha. it is a well tested and running OS and that is a HUGE difference here.
Technically it uses the CM Basis and should run on every Device that is able to run CM and meets the minimum requirements mentioned here http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/tablet/partner
Pulled sources this morning and cross compiled. In the emulator everything works perfectly. Will have to to wait till the USPS brings me my new tablet in the next few days to be sure. But i think i can have something ready to go fairly soon.
I have done ports before with some success. you just gotta understand, getting it running and getting the hardware support are two very different things.

??? Replace the boot.img with WHAT boot.img? Im willing to try
Probably a stupid question here, but I'm curious. What is the deal with the ROMs not being ubiquitous between the 8.4 and the 10.5? Are they not the same hardware aside from screen size? I guess it's just my ignorance of android development, just doesn't make sense to me that there has to be so much work done for each new device.

Take the boot.IMG from blckasop release one, unmkbootimg, replace zImage with a kernel from another working t800, then mkbootimg, rezip and flash. This will most likely soft brick your tablet but if it works it would make doing t800 releases easier till I identify the difference between the two kernels.

I'm sure a unified ROM is possible but until I have everything working on the t700 its hard to justify spending time on a device I don't own. Now I've put a tiny bit of effort into getting the t800 a little love. Though each time I do it takes away from dev time I would prefer to spend on the device I use on a daily basis. Call me selfish

I agree. Don't spread yourself too thin. If you get stuck with something on the t700 build then it can be helpful to give yourself a break to work on another project. But as long as you have the desire to put time into the t700 build, I say stick with it.

I look forward to trying this ROM. I couldn't believe the difference in standby time in CM11 compared to stock.
Release 2, cleanup with bluetooth and overlays.

Lowered minimum brightness so the screen can become quite dark now. (Better for night time viewing)

Probably stock.
Stock, rooted, heavily debloated. Runs beautifully for me and has been consistent in the 7 8 months I've had the tablet. Blisspop is a excellent AOSP ROM. If you are going that route I'd definitely recommend it. You also have lollipop now, haven't had a chance to see how it performs with TW. I'm still waiting on it for mine

Yea I read post to fast. Was on my way out. Was referring to the WiFi 8.4 in my post not realizing he was talking about LTE version. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T707A using XDA Free mobile app
The locked bootloader on the T707 makes rooting almost impossible. However, there have been some promising developments in the last week from Team Keen, who may have found an exploitable vulnerability in the linux kernel. There are active teams working on rooting the Galaxy S6 Duos (SM-G9200) and the Galaxy Note 4 (ATT and Verizon). So I'm cautiously optimistic that if those devices can be rooted then those exploits can be ported over to the T707.

He looked at it, responded back to me. He was asking me to build a special cable that I'm not able to make. I'm not sure if he has others testing or not. But he did say at first glance the bug that he exploited on other variants did not appear to be present.

That is S7 Edge international read previous posts and screen objects no hope for perm root on ANY AT&T FUTURE SAMSUNG DEVICES he even told me
he didnt tell me the bold red part but the rest and thats because AT&T and SAMSUNG are crazy locking bootloaders. AT&Ts bad in general but stuck on business plan so just switching away from samsung and only buying unlocked phones direct from carrier is best bet if you want root perm and recovery. thats what im doing done personally giving my money to AT&T.

I caved, and was sick and tired of problems. I had 4 S7Es, 2 Nexus, and 2 S5s, my boyfriend's on his 2nd LG, my friend's S7E has extremely bad screen burn. My daughter has never had an issue with her iPhone. I went out and bought one. If I can't have root, I might as well have an Apple. At least the battery isn't dead by lunch.

That's what I most likely will do as well. Sucks that rooting is pretty much dead. I pretty much only want root for hotspot.

Busy go over to the U firmware. That's why I did. No hotspot restrictions.

And my iphone came with it out of the box! Use it daily to play my game on my nexus 7 when there's no wifi available.

Does your AT&T plan include tethering? Because I'm pretty sure the iPhone checks to make sure you are allowed before turning it on as well.
That said, I'm also bummed about the root situation, but for other reasons. I did find a pretty good firewall in NetGuard, and (ironically) the Package Disabler app that only works on Samsung devices was able to disable most of the bloat. Only the ability to backup and restore individual apps (or even just their data) is missing, and why I still wish I had root.
(yes, I know I can use ADB for some backups, but I'm not sure downgrades are possible that way)
