Launchers? - Nexus 6 Themes and Apps

Any one got a good recommendations for launchers?

Nova. Love it!

The most popular ones are Apex or Nova Launcher.
Both are great and you can't go wrong with either, I personally use Nova.

i've been using Nova forever and it's great. finally back on a Nexus with Verizon and giving Google Now launcher a run, really enjoy it but missing gestures (especially with such a large device) and icon packs. Wish there was a way to get icon packs to run on here without xposed.

I use Apex when I want the classic style launcher back. It works well.

+1 Nova Launcher Prime

Hands down Nova with prime, I also have Apex but it's nowhere near as smooth.

Action Launcher if you're looking for something a little different. Shutters and covers will change the way you use your phone.

Nova Launcher Prime is definitely the best launcher I've used

Nova Prime for me as well. I have tried others but always come back to Nova

Themer and yahoo if lazy, Nova or Apex if you aren't haha

anyone know if there is a way to back up your launcher set up/widgets in Titanium Backup? I tried backing up Google Now Launcher data and restore it when flashing a new ROM but to no avail...

Buzz Launcher
One of my very first thoughts when I got to the home screen on my N6 was wow the icons are huge. I love the Now launcher but give us some stock options for adjusting....as a result I installed buzz launcher (never used before). I have been very happy with it and I love the quick abilities to change themes. Of course, like other launchers you can change the grid sizes.

Nova The Best!!!

Nova Prime is my favorite.

Nova. Best ever. Epic launcher is a close 2nd.

Nova hands down.
Been rocking it since the days of the T-Mobile HTC G2. Ended up going for Nova Prime and never looked back.

Definately, I struggle to use any other launcher. Everything about it is just well thought out.

Your favorite launcher?

I've downloaded ZEAM and LauncherPro....are there any others that I might like better?
Adw and launcherpro seem to be the most popular. I like launcherpro myself, but adw is still good.
yea adw or LP
i like LP best for the >>>SPEED>>>

You can try out.
ADW.launcher
HelixLauncher
LiveHome
GDE (not free)
All are on the market.
I have Launcher pro as my default right now but I think that LiveHome may be quicker. I also hear that aHome has a new beta out.
Launcher pro! Super fast
ADW Launcher is what I use. It is free and open source. Plenty fast too.
ADW is pretty fast for me D: .. i didn't eve bother with touchwiz lol LP was nice as well..
ADW. It even has themes now.
ADW is the way for me, works great !!!
I use LP..
Wish it had innate theme capability..
I currently use stock Nexus One launcher. like it very much.
Check out the donate version of LP (get free version then do in app upgrade) the calendar widget is pretty baller, I find myself unable to live without it now
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I wish I could change dock background in ADW
I wish Notification tab would be back in ADW
I wish I could have dots in LP (with Captivate lack of trackball and bottom icons too close to my left palm)
I wish I could change desktop columns amount in LP
Used to use LauncherPro, but now using ADW because:
1) Supports more columns and more rows (needed especially after changing LCD Density to 200, works great with 5 columns and 6 rows (LP max is 4 columns and 5 rows)
2) It seems that ADW closes a lot less because it uses less ram, and also seems to load apps quicker (?)
same here i use to use launcher pro then switched to adw launcher and im liking adw better i just miss the 3d app drawer but i like scrolling horizontally better tho
I used to use ADW, but I switched to Launcher Pro. I plan on alternating between the two (one of the reasons to love Android). I'm now using Launcher Pro because of:
*3D app drawer
*hidden apps
*multiple docks
*appearance (I like the icons)
*speed
I'll echo the opinion that ADW and LP are the best.
ADW and LP Dev's need to team up and make a super launcher...
If LP had a horizontal app drawer id be in heaven. Until then adw is win.

Dude.. I'd be sooo psyched if that ever happened lol
Launcher Plus Pro, love love love the calendar widget

ADW EX or Launcher PRO Plus?

Which is better? I have launcher pro paid version which I love but I keep hearing good things about adw ex so what do you guys think?
Sent from my HERO200
i been using adw launcher ex i love just because u can customise almost everything plus its fast and works great no prob at all plus u can purchase themes
I just tried adw ex and I have to admit its cool but it doesn't have messaging or face book widgets which is kinda a deal breaker for me
Sent from my HERO200
Until adw ex has a option to change the dock bar like LPP I am sticking with LPP
I am a LPP fan

My guess would be anyone that's tried LPP would say "use LPP" mainly because most become partial towards its widgets.
Especially those who've used signal's themed launcher pro widgets
I love ex allot faster then the old one. I am not much for widgets, yes they are very cool. But every time I use widgets it kills my battery faster. Both pro and ex have there down sides but then again they have there pluses. It is really just going to take you trying both out. Good luck.
Gingerbread....................
It's what heros crave!
Ex is pretty damn fast tho and has some cool transition effects

Yeah, I am not a widget fan either. The only one I really use is the LPP calendar. If Ex had that, I'd be all over it

Agreed. I like the home screen transitions and speed in Ex, but like I said above, I like the calendar widget in LPP. So rather than having two apps (another calendar widget and Ex), I stick with LPP and get a two for one...yeah, I like minimal apps
Before you pay for adw ex or LPP, give "go launcher" a try.
my payment failed for adw ex this morning and i couldn't get it to work...well in the process I saw go launcher. Tried it.. and holy crap. I love it. It has so much stuff. It runs really quick and its all free.
So far it does everything the big two do, and then some. Im a happy camper with it.
gotta say that zeam is making its case
Just found this:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/colorize-widget/com.snowbee.colorize
If you like the LPP widgets, but want to use ADW/ADW EX/Go/Zeam, here ya go.
Zeam launcher ftw

Stock launcher vs adw

Why did cm force adw on us? Its a memory hog that wastes battery compaired to stock.
Don't even get me started on launcher pro. That's even worse. And its only made by 1 man.
What do you use? R&d by Google or a 1 man progect?

this one is pretty fast, I like it a lot:
Xperia Arc Launcher
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978806&page=108
but you need to search withing the thread to find a right "version"
CyanogenMod is all about customization. ADW fits with what CM 7 is doing right now.
Personally, I use Launcher Pro+. Yeah, Fede needs to get back to work on it, but its customization is awesome.
they dont force you to use adw, i agree with you though i love the stock launcher for the nexus phones alot better than any custom launcher especially adw launcher, i think it is just a horrible creation that needs to be destroyed and completely re done its horrible. Launcher pro isnt bad i used it alot when i had my EVO with the plus version and all the widgets its pretty nice but yeah it does need an update but its alot cleaner than adw. Go launcher is another good one its pretty customizable plus i think its gpu powered like the stock gingerbread launcher.
This is the mod i use, it works on any custom aosp rom for the nexus s or nexus s 4g, it uses the stock gingerbread launcher for our phones, with some speed tweaks, you still get the 3d app drawer it has the messaging icon in place of where the browser icon would be on the dock bar. It installs easily through recovery and is fast as ****.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004744
there are also these ...
100% stock nexus s gingerbread launcher or 100% flash-able through recovery...

or
UD Launcher

I have used launcher pro, and adw and i found that GO launcher is best for me, since it offers high levels of customisation (down to the levels of changing backgrounds for the dock and animations) and it's relatively easy to operate.
It's not much of a memory hog too, which is great too

How is it forced on you? Just uninstall it and use the launcher. You want.

I hate ADW
Zeam launcher ftw!!!!

It's very easy to change launcher. I use Zeam Launcher now.
i may be in the minority here, but go launcher ex is freakin sweet. i have never had such a smooth experience with a smartphone as i have with go launcher on bugless pete's rom.
I don't see how its forced on you. I've tried many different launchers. I can only achieve what I want my home to look and act like with adw and go launcher. Different things suit different people. I don't use the stock launcher because I don't use the phone or browser very much. And I hate the box around them. So those shortcuts are pointless for me. Personally my phone shows Google voice use more memory than adw. And that runs in the background. All in all just install another launcher. Adws not forced on you. If it was forced you wouldn't be able to change to a different launcher.
I love adw, but Go ex is much smoother, but there is no option to remove the dock and expand the desktop, so have stuck with adw.
Anway, just flash the stock launcher...no?

+1 but on Oxygen(+Trinity) for me.
delete .
I cannot stand the stock launcher, and the very first thing I install after flashing a new rom is either Go Launcher or ADW.
Miui is the only rom that I run w/o a launcher because it's native launcher is customizable and is pretty slick.
Who gives a **** if an app is developed by a single person? Sometimes that is better because decisions aren't made by compromise.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
how the hell is adw a memory hog when it only uses 39mb RAM, while the stock launcher uses almost double???! stock launcher + live wallpaper breaks the phone apart, you barely have 50mb RAM left with this combination. so lemme see, no customization, memory hog and those retarded dock dots that cannot be removed, great launcher indeed!

Touchwiz or 3rd party launcher

All,
Just wondering what launcher are you using on your Note 5? The stock Touchwiz or a 3rd party ie Nova or Action Launcher? I'm currently using Action launcher but actually considering going back to Touchwiz.
Love to hear what you guys doing.
Love action launcher! Full of great and smart features. Bringing in custom icons along with changing theme has made the phone a lot more usable for me.

I usually like nova with the hipster icon set but am liking the stock look so far. Will end up going back to nova once Im tired of stock and vice versa!
I hate say it but I'm still using stock. This is a 1st
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
Nova all the way. Although I have installed the free material design theme and I love it.
Yeah I usually always switch to Nova but for the first time I'm finding the stock launcher not to be horrible.
I'm all for Nova, It does everything I need so I haven't had any reason to stray away from it.
I've always had a 3rd party launcher installed... but as a first, I'm still using TW and am not annoyed. Though I wish the desktop had a landscape mode.
I'm actually really liking the stock TouchWiz launcher. Plenty customizable and crazy fast.
I use Google now launcher or what ever google calls it these days
I typically use Nova. However I loaded it on my Note5 and it doesn't feel as snappy as TouchWiz (can't believe I said that) no matter how much I tinkered with the animation settings, etc.
Using action launcher 3 here, things are pretty great!
Still stock launcher. If I switch it will be to nova, as that is my preference.
However, right now with the material dark them I'm kind of liking the stock launcher...
Rocking out with Stock launcher for now but generally on all of my phones it's a toss up between the Nova launcher or Google now launcher.
Using nova. I did set up the stock but I hate the page indicators which always make my screens look top heavy because i have a 5x5 grid
I am also a nova fan. been using it for years now.
the main reason I just nova is because of the grid setup. Don't like having such a large screen and such big icons, it feels like a waste of space.
Stock TouchWiz is really good on this phone, I can't really come up with a good reason to change launchers, first time I haven't run Nova launcher in years
Used TW for a couple days. Then switched to Nova as I always do. Might try Action Launcher, my buddy swears by it.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I have to admit TW is much better this time around. However, I am still using Nova Launcher. I just like the ability to tweak everything slightly to be exactly how I like. The single largest reason why I went with Nova instead of TW is the option to remove padding around widgets though. it just looks so much nicer IMO.
Solo launcher is pretty good too - you need to remove some of the crapware but it's pretty nippy

Better Launcher for Z3C?

I am getting tired of annoying features of the Sony launcher, like "suggested apps" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/how-to-remove-search-bar-xperia-home-t3355603).
I'd love to get some opinions about alternative launchers with the following attributes:
* simple, uncluttered, minimalist appearance
* customizable, to make it even simpler
* esthetically clean and elegant (no graphic or color overload)
You get the idea!
Thanks,
JM
I have installed Nova launcher from October 1, 2014 in the Z3C.
Nova launcher. Ftw

+1 on nova launcher, been using it for years now.
Another vote for Nova.
Nova is nice, but Apex launcher has nearly identical features without requiring upgrades to the paid app. Plus, I think it's just a hair lighter on system resources.

Thank you all for chiming in! I installed Nova, but will try Apex as well and report back.

the launcher itself is great, only a few things, which are editable ( Disappear for example ) are needed. Tried the google now launcher and apex and were disappointed so i decided to mod the stock launcher to my wish
Nova launcher :3

Actually, when you dont know how to edit apks its the easiest way to use serjars xposed module ( Dont got the link right know, have to look it up and edit it in ) Requires root and a working recovery
Makes the whole appearence editable ( Icon Numbers in the Home Dock, Grid sizes and dont know what else.
Even the app suggestions are stuck in the past.
As Promised : http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xposed-serajr-xperia-home-x-mm-v1-0-0-t3360895
