[Guide] Flash Virgin Mobile HTC Desire 510 to Pageplus (No Data) - HTC Desire 510

Hello all,
This is my first post of this kind to this forum. I bought the HTC Desire 510 from bestbuy for $30 and just started playing with it yesterday. I bought the phone hoping that I could find a guide on how to flash it to Pageplus but I wasn't able to find any, so I had to improvise. I currently only subscribe to pageplus mobile minutes so I haven't figured out how to get data on the phone, but I think that its safe to assume you would need a donor phone for the data keys.
When I first turned on the phone I followed the beginning setup guide until the end, which was the HTC home screen/blinkfeed. Do not activate the phone just follow the prompts and when it goes to handsfree activation hit "activate" which leads to self-service and hit exit which will send you to the home screen. In order to bypass the activation I also took out the Sprint Sim Card (Not sure if needed though).
Programs you will need:
DFS Tools http://www.cdmatool.com/download
To start I followed the unlocking the bootloader guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-510/development/bootloader-unlock-htc-desire-510-t2910233
After unlocking the bootloader I followed the root guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-510/general/how-to-root-htc-desire-510-t2951744
I also uploaded the write protection removed kernel for the phone following, something which I don't know is necessary to flash to phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-510/general/sprint-virgin-mobile-stock-desire-510-t2958969
After all of that I went to live chat and asked for a esn change and they told me that I would have to manually program the phone. They gave me the MDN(Your phone number), MIN, and the SID.
Now we need to put the phone in DIAG mode and get the SPC/MSL from the phone. In order to do this I followed "BOOST MOBILE 8GB Moto G to Verizon ROM for use on
Page Plus Cellular (PPC) by BobPhone" these steps specifically:
First, Get the existing SPC code.
Boot the phone normally. Get a utility from here: http://tools.flashingtools.com/SPCUtility.apk
Get this program on the phone by:
1. Copy to phone using USB cable and windows and then install on the phone with a file manager
(Will need to get on the playstore and install something like ESFILE EXPLORER first, then install
the apk from ES FILE EXPLORER)
-When try to install from ES FILE EXPLORER, a window will pop up saying it is from an unsecure
source. Follow the window to get to SECURITY and scroll down and check UNKNOWN SOURCES
to allow this to be installed on the phone.
-Click back arrow and try again from within ES FILE, this time MSL UTILITY will install (accept and
give access to whatever it asks for)
2. Run MSL UTILITY on phone that gets installed by SPCUtility.apk and get the current VIRGIN Mobile
SPC. (Must be connected to Wi-Fi to find it)
WRITE IT DOWN__________________________

}
Now with the SPC/MSL in hand go to the dialer and enter ##3424# or ##DIAG# and select "1. DM On" and it will prompt you to enter you MSL which is the number you just got.
Once in DIAG mode it should automatically download the drivers and your good to use DFS Tools.
In DFS Tools select Port and then the HTC Diagnostic Port.
Now in DFS Tools follow these steps:
1. Send SPC XXXXXX obtained before from SPCUtility for the VIRGIN MOBILE, by clicking on
green/blue arrow (A) after entering code into SPC box, should see DEVICE UNLOCKED in log
window if you have that open (B) (MUST always UNLOCK DEVICE when connecting with DFS or
changes won’t stick)
2. On the PROGRAMMING TAB shown, in the box a bit below PORTS(A), for Unlock: SPC: There is a
STR: and HEX (C).
- Press READ.
- Will see the SPC you just entered from VIRGIN
- Enter 000000 over the existing VIRGIN t code and press WRITE to set the SPC to the 000000
3. Press RESET (D) in far right to reboot phone or changes won’t stick.
Now we make changes in the programming panel, NAM tab:
1. Start by pressing the Read Button (D)
2. Now fill in the MIN A and MIN D Values for both IMSI and IMSI T (A)with the MIN that you were given by a Pageplus Representative.
3. Also change the MDN and PCS Values (B) with your MDN number (Your Phone Number).
4. Finally Change the only the Home: SID value and only the top value (C) with the SID that you were given by a Pageplus Representative.
Now the final part is to write the PagePlus PRL (E).
1. Click on the Server tab and look for the PRL "PagePlus_ID51765_IS683C.prl" and click write and reset your phone.
Congratulations! You should now have talk and text from Pageplus if this is not the case I recommend that you write the PRL to the phone again since it took a couple of times for mine to stick. Credit goes out to all the people that worked on the guides at the beginning of this post and to BobPhone for his Moto G flash tutorial that I heavily used.
EXTRA (Do at your own Risk)
In order to get rid of the hand-free activation pop-up install titanium backup and uninstall the program "vDM Client".
Photo of how your network page should look in the about page of the desire 510 after flash:

Great guide, Thanks!
BTW, I heard somewhere on the internet that this phone has GSM radio hardware, just blocked by software. Is there a way to unlock the GSM radio so that I can use it in T-Mobile?

I have a HTC Desire 510 (boot mobile) its bootloaded, Rooted and I have the MSL code. I've tried every thing in the forums and still can unlock sim.
If any body has something new or something old thats been revised I would greatly appreciate it.

i cant get the spc-mls code
i got this error every time" file was not found on remote server" from mls utility. i got the bootloader unlocked. but i havent been able to get the code because of this error.
my question is this. if i flash the kernel and get the custom recovery on the htc desire 510 and root the phone. could i use something else to get the msl codes after i root the phone of course.

here it is BLACKSTONEv1Unlock
but you can normally download it after then when you place your emai number on that site
in that folders are some imei files but you use it at you own risk only
there are some other soft for unlocking here BLAC001-unlocker
and the other rar files here are downloaded from rapidshare I found it there
I take no responsibility for bricking your phone if you use them and don't works !!!
Put your's results here please !

I am afraid it seems you are mistaken, the program is available for download without entering an Email for other phone models too the rodium for example you need this program to exctract data from your phone you then send that and your imei to them, you then get a file and you can then unlock the phone.
The key here is the imei file you got.
Where did you get it from?
What are the chances that a random Imei file would match your phone???

Lol Indeed!
Did you unlock your phone with the file dowloaded or with the file that you share in your folder...
There are different when you run it,
I can't do the test because i'm not administrator of my computer... should wait for test some days...
Someone tested the file named ; BLAC001-unlocker.exe ?
Doesn't work I used the Blackstonev1Unlock.exe which confirmed my phone is sim locked and extracted some info. I then ran the BLAC001-unlocker.exe program and used the imei.unl file from the zip linked. After that I ran Blackstonev1Unlock.exe again which gave me the same "Your device is SIM unlocked" command prompt as shown in post 1. However I tried my O2 sim (on my Orange phone) and it booted to a sim locked screen
Interesting mine dosnt even run?
It opens the command prompt and then reboots my phone?
it then gives me a "communicating with device" error.
did it a few times no AV on, also tried in safe mode still nothing.

OK guys PAY ATTENTION the things go so :
I have unlocked it by using one of the imei.unl file in same directory,
but what's DANGEROUS, I FOUND THAT MY IMEI HAVE CHANGED !!!
It is possible to unlock, but if someone could find how to change the imei nubmer in that file imei.unl !
I don't know if it's legal, but I post here the imei number which I have now : 35396902204055301 on my sim unlocked HTC Touch HD to compare with others, who made successfully unlocked it like me !
I'm sorry guys, but that guy could be right.
I've unlocked quite a few phones and I remember that I've unlocked a HTC Nike and a HTC Vox (which was locked before, I always check that) for free with imei-check's software. Sometimes, it does that

REQUIREMENTS:
Galaxy S5 (duh?) (Tested by me on G900T + see the "Tested & Working" section)
z3x Samsung Tool PRO v28 or 29 (v24 didn't work for me) (Search google to find it.)
4.4.4 Firmware! [G900T -AndroidFileHost] (need 4.4.4 because on 6.0 it doesn't unlock)
6.0.x Firmware! [G900T -AndroidFileHost] (update when finished unlocking)
NOTE:
Only download the firmware intended exactly for your device's model. Otherwise It will simply fail when flashing and will soft brick the device (just format and reinstall the correct firmware to fix)
// Do at your own risk!
// I'm not responsible for any bricked or damaged
// device after following these steps.
TESTED & WORKING:
Code:
// SM-G900T
// SM-G900W8
// SM-G900M
// SM-G900F
// SM-G900P
// SM-G901F
Don't be afraid to try on different S5 models.
It should work fine on your S5 too.
UNLOCKING PROCEDURE:
BACKUP / RESET
(optional) Make a full backup using any way you prefer (TWRP/CWM.. / Titanium backup / whatever..)
⚠Go into TWRP/CWM and Wipe System, data, and caches
PREPARE
Flash 4.4.4 - Use odin or z3x to flash the firmware (Scroll down for more help)
(Wait for the device to boot)
Dial *#0808#
Choose "DM + MODEM + ADB"
UNLOCK
(On your PC) Open z3x pro
Choose model (mine is G900T)
Go to Repair tab
Select USB port (something like samsung) and select ADB device
Click Activate DIAG
(On your S5) Allow adb access on your phone and wait...
(Phone will reboot automatically so don't interrupt)
(Now in z3x) Go to Unlock tab
Choose USB port again (something like samsung)
And Click Unlock
FINISH UP
Now update to 6.0 using odin or z3x
DONE UNLOCKING
ENJOY ANY SIM CARD
MORE HELP:
How to Flash Samsung Firmware
Using odin: http://rootmygalaxy.net/how-to-install-a-stock-firmware-using-odin/
Using z3x: Choose model then go to Flash tab and pretty much the same thing as odin
Troubleshooting:
Binary error while inserting firmware into odin:
-> Rename firmware from tar.md5 to tar only if you are sure you downloaded the right firmware for your device
The system cannot find the path specified in z3x:
-> Manually create the path that z3x is trying to reach (this happens when cracked, happened with me at least)
... Sorry I don't have more in mind at the moment
Thanks worked fine for me.
Question though, I won't lose unlock status if I change the firmware, kernel or a rom correct?
i have been search by google, almost all the download link are fake or not working
can you provide a true crack version for me ?
Do you think it could work on a G901F?
Is anyone getting to the actual z3x samsung pro ? Is it supposed to be in .rar formant? I think I have v29.5, however, it does not have this "Crack" thingie
Any help would be great, or am I wasting time....

THW same Herr, i buy the phone @eBay Abd the man make give no Informatione about the net-lock of t-mobile USA(gt-900t), i life in germany after this i pay 20€ for unlock over a Internet company, and they do nothing for me. You are my last hope, help me please
I bought a g900p (sprint) s5 had a bill attached to it that wasn't mine and i wasn't paying it . I spent latterly a week looking for a sim unlock for this phone with absolutely zero success. I did find a guy "idoneapps" i think was the name . That claimed to be able to unlock it ...i didn't want to pay some random fella money so i kept looking for another week. Still nothing so i payed this guy i think 25 bucks or something like that got his app from his site . literally within 2 minutes i had a unlocked sprint s5 running on straight talk (att network). I have never had a issue. I was sketched bout using my bank card to pay but i have never had any issues with that either ...for all extensive purposes this dude is/was legit and saved me from having a paperweight .... Anyone looking to sim unlock their s5 i would recommend a quick google search for this fella ....

it will be locked again probably if you do a wipe or reinstall the firmware. BUT if you installed custom roms, it is probably unlocked already (roms don't have any carrier lock i think)

it should work on all varients of s5 as long as you use their firmware (if you have 901F, download the 901F firmware)
but note that it's not tested... if you can, test it and please give a feedback
Just tested this z3x tool and it works on all versions of android up to 6+ without needing to downgrade, had to make sure that I downloaded the z3x samsung driver pack v1.7 with the relevant modem drivers etc.
Still have to type in *#0808# to enable the dm etc but otherwise it unlocks without any further issues.
All stock, no root, no Odin.
Working method...

I upload working Z3X 28.2 version (Load as administrator Load_SamsugToolPRO.exe. after popup registration window, need press try):

Thank you @NHK I was able to successfully unlock my SM-G900W8.
Now I know this has been answered but i just want to confirm..
If I install a custom rom, it won't be locked again? Just checking before I install a rom and it is locked, making me have to do this again
EDIT; answered my own question, it's okay!!
Thanks OP
I can not select com as it is empty, but i can select the adb port. . I have installed samsung driver pack 1.7. I can backup my efs and so on but to unlock it says port not selected. The com is blank and there is nothing I can select. Any solution is highly appreciated.

Unlock Code Purchased, code input prompted and entered but no signal

hooray right? no, after this screen the phone signal is nil. I figure, "oh I just need to enter the apn", head over to network settings and i get this:
I spent way too long trying to figure out how to get access to APN with zero solutions. Popping back in my us-tmo-sim i do have access to a ton of APNs, I'm guessing the unlock didn't work right because puting in the lycamobile sim the phone prompts me for an unlock code again. I did a ton of fiddling for weeks in the EU and came up with zilch.
Now I'm back stateside and feel like I've wasted my money on the unlock and the 25€ sim. After scouring XDA and various other sites it seems to me that unlocking the phone with a custom rom will not usually yield an unlock(?) I'm not entirely sure but that seems to be the consensus. At this point, unlocking my phone is a matter of principal more than anything else.
So I've got a couple of questions:
1. Which "stock rom" should I be flashing to complete the unlock?
2. I'm currently on AOKP N 7.1.2 (which i freaking love and cannot live without). If I do a complete backup via TWRP, flash stock, unlock, and then recover my backup from TWRP - will the unlock stick? More importantly does flashing stock lock my bootloader?
Thanks ahead for any input!

latest h811 20v KDZ using LGUP.
i have unlocked but from tmobile and once it unlocked no matter what room phone its still unlocked in mine.
Are you able to place calls after you have unlocked your phone?
So here's what I've done, I've fully backed up my current AoKP setup on the SD.
Wiped and flashed the latest stock: h811 20v KDZ.
After flashing and going through setup I went into the dialer with my tmo sim and entered 2945#*811# - I get an error.
I shut down the phone, throw in a different sim (hoping it'll just prompt for an unlock code) and boot up the phone and get a notice that the phone is locked, please request for unlock. (still not asking for code)
I go into the tmo apps and use the unlock app, request for permanent unlock. Success! The phone is "permanently" unlocked.
Boot back into recovery, do a regular wipe and restore my AoKP backup, boot the phone up and now I get the "enter code to unlock sim", I enter the code and it claims successful but I'm back to where I started, "unlocked" with no APN access, so not really unlocked at all. Total fail and waste of time.
I go back, wipe, reflash stock again, go through setup, request unlock but this time it says "failed" phone is unlocked, talk about confusing. I reboot, and voila I'm unlocked and the non-tmo sim is working fine.
Now I reboot into recovery, backup the current stock (and unlocked) setup (just in case I need it one day), wipe and reflash my custom AoKP backup but this time instead of recovering everything I uncheck EFS.
After rebooting with the non-tmo sim, no request for unlock, full signal bars, everything is working great, the phone is unlocked, APN access is there and I can even save new APNs!!!
This was a hell of a journey of which I wish I had taken before I went on holiday and especially before I wasted money on an unlock code. I'm kicking myself for not digging deeper for this post before leaving to the EU. Wasted so much: money on the unlock code, the prepaid sim; my sanity when trying to get all of this done without a proper computer/laptop while on holiday. Hope this helps someone out there and save you all the trouble I went through.

[Tutorial] Getting your Unlock code without having to wait for email from Motorola

Hi All,
Here is a quick guide to getting your unlock code without having to give Motorola your email address or agreeing to their terms of service.
Get your fastboot oem get_unlock_data
Paste it into data scrub tool: https://support.motorola.com/us/en/dataScrubTool
You should now have a string that looks like this:
0123456789ABCDEF#0123456789ABCDEF0123456789ABCDEF01234567#76543210FEDCBA9876543210FEDCBA9876543210#01234567890000000000000000000000
Split up your string with each # indicating a new line as follows
Part 1: 0123456789ABCDEF
Part 2: 0123456789ABCDEF0123456789ABCDEF01234567
Part 3: 76543210FEDCBA9876543210FEDCBA9876543210
Part 4: 01234567890000000000000000000000
Navigate to the following URL:
https://support.motorola.com/us/en/api/mse/bootLoaderVerifyPhone?serialNo=<PART1>&secSerialNo=&processorUid=<Part4>&bootloaderHash=<Part3>&infoOnly=N
For example:
Code:
https://support.motorola.com/us/en/api/mse/bootLoaderVerifyPhone?serialNo=0123456789ABCDEF&secSerialNo=&processorUid=76543210FEDCBA9876543210FEDCBA9876543210&bootloaderHash=01234567890000000000000000000000&infoOnly=N
You will then get the unlock code directly in your web browser if it exists:

This URL does NOT provide any different result than what the Unlock Your Bootloader page does on Motorola's website. This is merely manually navigating to the lookup page used. If your phone does not have an unlock code in Motorola's webpage it will return an error stating that the device does not have bootloader lock code available yet.
It doesn't work. URLs indicated on point 5 (different each other...) are not the right ones and doesn't work...

I assume you need to be logged into the Motorola site to get the data.
You need to be logged in when going through the regular channels.

whenever i do all of this, it loops me back to the starting page of the unlocking process. step 1. etc..
i never see the code in the browser nor an error and im logged in.
I tried for about 3 hours the other night trying to unlock my XT-1955-2 with a CID of 0x0032. After reading through many posts on several websites I gave up. I started wondering if there was something wrong with my setup, i.e. computer, USB cable, internet connection, etc... So I attached my old phone for which the bootloader was already unlocked using the Motorola website in an attempt to troubleshoot my end. The Motorola website came back with the "blue button" and I received an email with the code immediately.
Curiosity took hold, I hooked up my new XT-1955-2 and again went through the same process that had failed me the other night. AND NOW, the "blue button" appeared, I accepted the risk, received the email and unlocked the phone. This whole evolution occurred within 10 minutes of waking up.
The only thing that was different this time around was I ran the command prompt as an administrator and it was a new day. So there you have it folks If you get an message saying your phone doesn't qualify to be unlocked. Try, try, try again.

General [CLOSED] --

USE UPDATED POST, HERE!
THIS POST IS NOW ONLY REFERENCE ONLY - WILL BE DELETED SOON.
Well I figured I'd make a quick How-To on how I successfully Carrier/Sim unlocked my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G running the NEWEST Android update on bootloader 5 (USQU5BULJ)released in January of 2022.
***This does NOT trip Know and does NOT require a root or a paid service. ***
****Also Note - This is the process I took, you may find some of these steps are not needed but for the purpose or recreating my results, I'll be posting my exact process.
****This has ONLY BEEN TESTED ON SNAPDRAGON BASED SAMSUNG GALAXY S21 ULTRA 5G SM-G998 U & U1, if you try it on a different model or phone you may (and likely will) receive different results!!!!
Here's what you'll need:
•ANY (activated or not) Sim from the carrier you wish to switch too.(or a way to replicate the carriers cert from one)
•A computer
•Patched Odin
•BOTH the NEWEST U & U1 ROMs/Firmware - theres a full post on these and how to flash them here on XDA (Reminder for myself or mod to link it) or visit SamFW.com, it has both Odin and the ROM/Firmware files you will need.
•Android ADB platform tools (You can find them on the official Android Developers page here or use any ADB software of your choice, fastboot is not required or used in this process.(Google "Android Developer Platform Tools" to get them from the official Android devs page. )
STEP 1:
So let's presume you have a Verizon or T-Mobile carrier locked phone, if you look at your baseband, which you can find in Settings > About > Software Info, you should see this "SM-G998Uxxxxxxx"
*****IF YOU SEE "SM-G998U1xxxxxxx" STOP - Skip to step 2******
Head over to your preferred site to get stock Samsung Roms (Refer to link above if you don't know where to find) and download the U1 XAA rom and the U rom of the CARRIER YOU WISH TO USE. IMPORTANT! MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE "U" ROM FOR BOTH THE CARRIER YOU WISH TO SWITCH TO AND THE U1 UNLOCKED ROM.
Put you device in download mode (Hold Vol up and Vol down and plug in the USB, which should be connected to your PC and now your phone at this point.)
Flash the U1 XAA Rom, place appropriate files in appropriate places in Odin, when you get to CSC, DO NOT use the "HOME_CSC" use the other.
Leave the rest of Odin settings alone and hit Start, wait for it to finish and reboot.
Step 2:
Once the phone boots, return to Settings>About>Software and confirm you are using the XAA rom by looking at Service Provider Software Version and it should say something like "SM-G998U1_XAA blah blah blah" you just want to see the U1 and XAA.
Now put in the Sim from the carrier you desire. A pop-up should appear prompting you to restart your device. Follow the prompt.
!MOST IMPORTANT STEP!
BEFORE the device fully restarts, force it into RECOVERY MODE, I was able to achieve this by holding the power and Vol Down buttons at the same time, starting to hold the directly after the "Samsung" Logo fades away upon initial restart. If you have trouble getting into recovery please comment below.
Once in recovery, use the volume keys to navigate to "Clear Cache" select and execute. Now go to Factory Data Reset/Wipe, select and execute. It should be the option directly above "Clear cache".
Once done, go up to "Reboot to Bootloader", Select, Execute.
AGAIN, Very Important step, you MUST interrupt the boot process again and force the phone BACK into download mode this time, so once the phone attempts to reboot, you need to hold the Vol Down and Vol Up buttons at the same time and the USB MUST be already plugged in.
We should now be back in download mode and be on the U1 rom. We have verified all of this in the steps above.
STEP 3:
Now it's time to flash the ROM from the carrier you wish to use. Make SURE you have a Sim from that carrier inserted during this process. It doesn't need to be a working or activated Sim, just simply one from the carrier you wish to have your S21 work on.
Flash all items as you did earlier, but using the "U" ROM for your desired carrier as described above. Same deal with CSC, DO NOT use the "Home_CSC"
BE SURE that you use the USERDATA file if there is one for your carrier. Very important to have the phone working properly.
Start the Odin flashing process.
Phone will Auto-Reboot.
Done!
You should now be on the carrier you wish to use. This can be (in theory, test at own risk) replicated for ANY carrier supported by Samsung, and, I should soon find out if it will lead to what my original goal was, a bootloader unlock on the QualComm SnapDragon variant of the S21 and future Galaxy devices.
If you have any issues please comment below.
PoC, results after doing above process.
Good luck.

There are some parts of my tutorial that are not well expressed and may be misleading. Please don't hesitate to post in comments if you need clarity.
IMPORTANT!!! I LEFT OUT ONE MAJOR STEP! ************ ----- BETWEEN STEP ONE AND STEP 2 - After you do the factory data reset/Wipe cache -> reboot to Bootloader -> force into download, you need to flash the U1 rom BEFORE putting in your desirced carriers SIM, then reboot, let phone fully boot, THEN insert your desired carriers SIM -> restart phone-> interrupt boot by forcing into recovery and repeat factory data wipe and cache wipe and reboot bootloader -> interrupt Boot Process again, but into Download Mode -> Flash your desired "U" carrier Firmware (must be same carrier as the SIM you put in as described above). -> Done.
And when/where does one need to use the required ADB-Tools?
tested and work only on S21 ULTRA 5G SM-G998 U & U1
thank you

Lol this is likely one of those steps thats unneeded. i cant remeber off the top of my head why exactly i added that in. But it wont hurt to have the drivers, thats for sure.
Ive made a (Slightly) more clear post, hopefully better detailing this, Here. Mods may close this thread as they feel free but i will leave it up as a resource for the time being.

ive just finished doing it on my 6th one device, 4 were Verizon 1 was Tmobile and 1 was ATT. I seem to be able to replicate this process over and over again so far with no issues so far, but i am making sure to update each device manually via odin 1st to latest u1 Firmware first as described above.

And for each device, did you personally verify that it was not already unlocked before starting?
Because normally you can't get that restart popup prompt on U1 firmware unless the device is already unlocked

thats essentially the point of going from u to u1 then back to u after you booted atleast once into u1 with the desired carriers sim, somewhere along in the process of interrupting the bootloader and flashing the carriers U Firmware its overwriting the system policy. Theres a hole in here somewhere im positive. still trying to pin point exactly where this weakness lies.

You're definitely not going to find that, as that's not related to SIM unlocking whatsoever
