[Q] Icon issue on Moto Maxx - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

I have tried to search this to no avail..... in the last couple days my standard un-rooted stock plain jane Moto maxx 1080 has had a couple icons go from the standard icon to an alien android icon. The apps were my paypal and twitter icons. So far its the only two but not sure why or if it is because of the lollipop that is suppose to be coming.
running 4.4.4
version 23.3.24.en.us
any help would be greatly appreciated

That sometimes happens when the shortcut is orphaned by an update or something along those lines. Usually removing the shortcut and placing a new one will fix it.

Changing the HTC mail shortcut with mail counter? Totally stumped.

Ok, so I have been playing around with LauncherPro and Bettercut over the past day or two and this is driving me mad. I have a feeling this hasn't been solved yet at the only information I have been able to find on the Internet is more or less threads with what I'm about to ask ending in "don't think its possible mate".
I didn't think the fine folks at XDA would think anything was "impossible"
Firstly I have made a video of what I am trying to achieve just so its easy to understand what my problem is, especially if you are not using the same apps that I am.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Def_XwC9rM
For those who cant watch the video -
When in sense both the mail and messages shortcuts have green icons next to them to inform you of how many unread messages you may have. You cannot change these icons with Bettercut or similar because they will automatically revert back to the same sense icons, something to do with sense controlling these particular icons I suspect.
When in ADW or launcher pro the green icons next to the mail and messages shortcuts do not appear, you can have the icons and you can change them with LP or bettercut but they will never have an unread count by them.
Oddly the messages icon in the dock bar of LP has a unread count but I assume this is the system or LP itself creating this. The same cannot be said for the email if placed in the dock bar it still will not inform you of your unread count.
There are two ways that occur to me to go about changing these icons, firstly would be to find the images Sense uses and modify these, I simply have no idea where to look for them. Secondly would be to find the service that tells sense to update its icon and use this to create a bubble similar to that seen on the messages icon on the LP home screen. The latter would obviously be the preferred solution but perhaps more complicated.
If this could be achieved I think it would certainly help out alot of people trying to mod the look of their devices, its certainly very frustrating not being able to use these shortcuts in alternative home launchers.
So if anyone has any suggestions let me know and I'll dig further
Any suggestions from anyone on this, tried searching up and down for any threads or post relating to changing or modding the sense launcher but nothing. I know this is possible because the latest revision of MDJ's android build for my HD2 has a modified HTC messaging icon with counter.
anyone?

[Q] Icon Sizes, Side Bar..?

Morning all,
I failed using the search feature to find exactly what I needed so I figured I would post it up. New to the droid world, infact the G tab is only the second time I have used one. I have already managed to root and install TnT lite and the market fix. I am on a quest to further customize the tablet however, custom icons for the dock (Is that what its called?) as well as the top of the screen which I have already found a post on this forum to accomplish that.
I have tried multiple px sizes on the G tab and I can't seem to get them quite right - If I make them too large they shrink an incredible amount and look terrible even with transparency. Any chance someone here knows the exact sizes of these icons so I can stay within the defined limits?
Thanks
I think icons for android are 48x48 pixels.
Maybe this helps too http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/icon_design.html

Which icons? Status bar (pull down at the top) or dock?
Dock shouldn't matter, I've used alot of sizes with Launcher Pro.
Status bar depends on the rom. For vegan, the easiest way is to get a metamorph from S2w's sticky thread. Tnt, I'll have to look up.... I don't know them by heart.

[Question] How come there aren't any PowerAMP widget skins yet?

Considering how popular PowerAMP is and how long people have went without customization for that program, I find it really strange that a version that supports custom widgets (and anything else that uses the PowerAMP API) has been out for weeks, but I have not seen any custom widgets.
Did I miss anything?
Good question. I've been wondering the same thing and I've searched every other day, no such luck.
Seems like a very popular app, surely some capable people greatly dislike the blue glow or gradients as much as I do... yet cannot deny the efficacy of the app itself!

I'm guessing because it just came out and maybe he hasn't released anything to any developers to help with making skins. You can already download the skins widget for it to get transparent.
Bumping this for more replies.
I tried to edit the apk for personal skinning a while back and for some reason could never get the recompiled apk to install. Every time I tried I would get something like "Package not properly signed". Use several different compiling and signing tools always with the same result. So I abandoned that idea and like you, waited for someone to do it for me.
Well, I was able to quickly modify the PowerAmp Widget Skin pack a little bit. I'm not experienced "theming" much of anything so I wasn't sure how to modify the font color.
I modified the background image of the widgets (4x1 and 4x2) to a half transparent black. I also changed the colors of the buttons to white.
If anyone can give me any tips as to which xml files I should edit for the font color, that would be most helpful! I can't try anything right now since I'm at work.
I used ZipSigner 2 to sign the apk, so it should hopefully be installable like normal from a file manager. I'm on a Droid X if it helps for reference.
I'd love a transparent widget and white characters to match the green wallpaper,...
I'll try to see how u did to change the app background...

[Q] Black lollipop theme

I was wondering if anybody heard of a black theme for lollipop similar to the lovely nexus5 theme found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/theme-t2939926
Even better if a black lollipop option was to be included as stock by google, but this might be like asking the moon
Damn, that's gorgeous!
I've been hoping for a dark theme for a while. I'd gladly contribute funds to someone who's got the ability to make that theme for the X..
Google needs to take note, that is exactly how the stock OS should look. Or at a bare minimum have an option to switch to that.
Liquid Smooth ROM has the same BO settings and some apps (google messenger and dialer/contacts) hopefully they will developed it for the Moto X soon. I'm running it on my Nexus 6 and its great, it would look good on the Moto X too
I can't stand the white background in Lollipop, so I have switched to the Nova Launcher until there are themes to work with.
The settings background is still white.
Apex has the option for dark app card back ground
I use a dark theme on the Lollipop ROM that I'm running on my N5 (secondary via MultiROM) and it does make Lollipop much more palatable. I still prefer Kit Kat though and am still on 4.4.4 on my Moto X and as my main ROM on my N5.
It is interesting because they have dark settings in the Clock app but only at night it seems. Throughout the day, when I go into the clock app, it changes colors. At night last night I noticed it went dark and when I went into the settings, it was dark as well. So it is weird they would design the dark settings for just that one app, and not think or include it for the rest of the apps.
Maybe those lucky enough to have root can check out the clock settings to see whats being called to show the dark settings and use that knowledge to change the rest. Then again I am not a coder or developer so I have no idea if that would work.

[Q] CM11 Theming Help

I'm still rocking KitKat 4.4.4 on my Moto X 1Gen because I prefer my Xposed modules over Lollipop. That being said, thanks to a combination of CM11 themes and some Xposed modules, I've given my phone a personalized near-Lollipop look. There are, however, a couple of things I need help with, if anyone is willing.
I'm using a theme called L Style White, which was included in a 2-in-1 theme apk called KitKat White, which has since been removed from the Play Store for having "KitKat" in its name. Since it's no longer available, I've cracked it open several times and made some adjustments and changes, for my own personal use. I have no intentions of sharing/uploading a mod of someone else's initial work on the Play Store. I just made it for myself. I've added a lot of Lollipop elements from other CM11 themes that I liked. But there are two things I can't figure out how to theme on my own, and I was hoping someone more skillful with creating themes would be willing to help me out.
The first thing is the Google "Ears" sound search widget. I'd like to theme it to have a white background and dark text (so it will be visible on the white background). This one seems simple enough, but I can't seem to work it out on my own. Hopefully someone here can.
The second thing is the Reboot dialog, or really any dialog, I guess. I want to remove the white line under the title. This seems to exist on pretty much all dialogs that use the native framework, not JUST the advanced reboot menu. As you can see, it's already themed somewhat in the LiquidSmooth 4.4.4 ROM I'm using. I'd just like to make it more Lollipop style by removing that line. (On holo-light dialog popups, it's a dark line instead). I'm fine with the colors and everything on this; just want to make it more Lollipop style in its overall look. I've included a screenshot of an app that uses the style I'm wanting. Again, I don't care about changing the colors, just the layout of the title and stuff.
So there. Sorry that was so long. Hopefully someone took the time to read it anyway. If I need to, I can share the apk of the theme I'm using, but I'd rather do so privately, since it wasn't my work to begin with. I really just need whatever files/resources/xmls I can drop into the appropriate folder in the 'Overlays' section of the theme apk. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and would also help me learn more by example.
