[Q] Nexus 6 Top Speaker Static/White Noise/Buzzing. Anyone else experiencing this? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Here's the story: My Nexus 6 top speaker is making static/buzzing/white noise. I've gone through THREE different Nexus 6 devices already and I am extremely annoyed about this. I am pretty sure the first device didn't have this issue or else I would have noticed it, but it did have an extreme battery drain issue. The second one definitely had this same problem, which was why I got this third one.
After some rigorous testing, I noticed that the static occurs when you are locking the phone with the volume on, it gets louder when your phone is below ~20-25% battery and basically whenever the top speaker turns on (INCLUDING when you are actually talking on the phone, which bugs me the most). BUT, once you plug in the charger, the static goes away completely and will never occur until you unplug.
The fact that the first phone didn't do this bothers the crap out of me because now, I'm paying for a an extremely expensive phone with a hardware defect (At least my previous iPhones never had any hardware problems...).
Is anyone else experiencing this? I have seen a few threads on XDA but nobody really replied; also, there are Reddit posts about this and something has a Google Doc Group opened, but nobody's really addressing the problem. If this is a software issue, I'd be more than happy to sit and wait for an update, but if it's a hardware issue, then I want a new phone..

I get static when my phone starts to ring or get a notification sometimes. It sounds like its lagging, loud, and heavy crackling. Im pretty sure this isn't hardware related and will be fixed with a software update

Seems more like a lag/software issue. I too was thinking it would be addressed in a software update so I wasn't too concerned. Music sounds OK and so do my calls so um yeah.

I hear it when I'm on calls as well, which is the most annoying part. I think I'm going to swap it in one more time to be sure... It doesn't cost me any money, I'll post an update when I get the new one. In the meantime, is anyone else getting this?!

Yeah I don't get it on calls that I've noticed. Mostly system sounds when I get notifications and various apps become active like I'm getting some lag maybe? I've noticed though that this phone is so fast its nothing for me to have 20 or 30 things open in the background and not realize it so I'm not sure if that was part of it I'll have to pay attention for a few days I guess

Same issue on my side. I don't think a lot of people have the phone yet so maybe that's why you aren't getting a lot of replies. I am getting a ton of white noise especially while on a call. Its so loud that its really distracting and hurts my ears. I returned my first one because it was defective and wouldn't make or receive calls and nobody could figure it out. Now I have this one with tons of white noise and static. Very disappointed with nexus. I was expecting quite a jump from the nexus 5 and with having a defective phone from the get go with the 6... Im about to divorce the nexus brand altogether

I'm officially on my 4th Nexus 6 and to my dismay, it is still there. Going to pray that it's a software bug and hope it goes away since my 14 day grace is up. Any other insights would be great..!

I get it a little on some incomming notifications , i'm pretty sure its not the actual hardware though , playing music or youtube videos doesn't have any distortion or noise.

Thanks for the update! I don't believe our issue is the same as the one you documented on your video. My speakers work fine and don't crackle that way during normal use and it is only the top one when you put your ear close to it or if you are in a quiet room (which I am, majority of the time when I'm at home).

I would say that's under warranty for a replacement. Have you tried it in safe mode and experienced the same issue?

Yep, I tested it out of the box stock everything right when I got to a quiet location (my car). Put it into safe mode, still heard it.

I seem to be getting the similar issue as @wilson289 which is static in calls but nothing on Audio, youtube, music, etc. Only some of the stock Notification tones as well as lock screen.
Sometimes when I lock the phone the static sound lingers for 3-5 seconds.
Called in for a replacement, lets hope its ok. My device is perfect otherwise so I dont want to end up with a more crappier phone.

Same issue for me. At first, I only noticed it on incoming texts/notifications. It would sound like the notification was "jammed" and was slow to come out (if that makes any sense) and it would be crackly . Then I would test it on a ringtone or video and the speakers would sound ok. The other night, I noticed a periodic white static noise coming from the phone, lasting for about 1 second and occurring every 2-3 seconds. Phone was at <10% battery at the time.

I'm on my 4th Nexus 6 and still have the same issue. My 14 day grace is over now and so if I wanted a replacement, I will probably have to do it through my device's standard 1 year warranty. I figure to wait a few months before I go in for a new one so that they will have it in stock for sure.

Called into AT&T for a warranty replacement, they are sending me a new phone, will keep you all posted. If this 5th phone is still ****ed up, then I will just admit defeat and accept that it's a software issue... Might even get to the point of selling the phone and going the direction of the OnePlus or back to Apple (don't shoot). Will keep you all updated.

in-call static/interference/resonance/noise problem

Hi guys,
i think there's a problem in my i9000;
whenever i make a call, i can hear low static interference in the background.
i searched both on xda and elsewhere, and although some other people complained of this problem, no one was able to determine the cause or provide a solution.
i tried different roms, froyo and gingerbread samsung roms, in addition to cm7, with different kernels and modems, heck i even changed my csc(just for sake of changing everything to make sure.. all for nothing. the problem persists.
Does anyone know what might cause such problem and how it may be solved?
i have exactly the same problem. Like you; i tried every combination which i can. I think main cause of the problem is hardware related. But my opinion is ,it can be fixed with device drivers. I looked at service manual. In the speaker part of the service manual,you can see there are two inductors and one capacitor before the speaker module. You can see the full circuit in Service Manual Page 42.

I think these inductors(L209,L210) are interferencing with the GSM frequencies and making that static sounds on the background.
We need someone who is an expert on linux and device drivers. Maybe he can show us to find a way to break this circuit(temporarily turn off B1 and A2 pins) in a call so it will not make that sounds.
In the other hand we may have defect phones. May be the only way is to change some parts.

I think there's something wrong with the speaker itself.
I'm taking the phone to samsung's maintenance to see what they have to say about it.

Same here, but it's not constant, just happens enough to be noticable, bloody annoying, and only started (or I only noticed it) a couple of days after JVP. Will be interesting to see what you find out...
One possibility, do you have your phone in a magnetic flip case? Worth checking

No magnetic flip case, just a hybrid (plastic back+sillicon frame) cover.
I even took it off for a while to see if it was causing the problem, but no.
I went to samsung service center and they said it will cost about 200$ because the ear piece comes with the touchscreen..
Meaning i would have to pay for a new touchscreen even though i only need the ear piece.. How about that for service.
I checked ebay and found the whole ear piece+speakerphone+headphone jack in one bundle for 15$
so guess what my next step will be??
Buy and install the ebay part, sell my i9000(never liked tw anyway+cm seems a long way from home).. Had enough samsung for one lifetime
are you sure about the sound is coming from the earpiece ? i am asking because few weeks ago i was also assuming that the interference sound is coming from the earpiece . But i realized that it is coming from the rear speaker. Can you test it ?. In a call ,turn back the phone and put speaker hole to your ear. The interference sound is so loud that you can hear it from the earpiece hole.

This is the question which i am also looking for answers
Everyday i am searching for answers. Only a very few people experiencing this problem.
I think this problem is coming from the inductors in the speaker circuit part. You can look my first post .

i have this problem too, i live in Romania, i tough my phone was broken, but a friend's phone also does that.
i notice it when making call while 3G data was running in the background. If 3g is off = no noise.
Also i have noticed, the way you hold the phone affects it. try holding it with 3 fingers to your head the covering the mic hole with the other. you should hear some interference right there. so it's probably: speaker+ extra sensitive mic + some antenna things
Also my friend had the phone for some months now and never noticed it i searched the web and we're not alone, i found this discussion on a couple of other forums, still nothing to do, or nobody reported back after they whet to the warranty service. i would go, but i don't have any warranty on mine.
I'm also from Romania and I noticed this annoying issue today. All my other friend with Galaxy S also have this problem, so I guess it's a normal thing.
The only solution, I guess, is to use 3G networks, at the risk of draining a bit more battery.
so bottom line is that on mine, i hear noise/buzzing/interference when i use 3g networks both on the speaker on the back and the earpiece (it's louder if i use 3g data while i'm making a call) - the issues goes away completely in gms(2 g) mode
and it depend on how i'm holding it - it's louder if i grip the phone in my hand (probably the wireless signal is lower and the phone increases the power needed to communicate to the network thus experiencing buzzing sound from the speakers like radios did back with the first cell phones before receiving a call)
so i guess i'm not the only one, right?
This issue is normal I think. No big deal. If the noise however gets so loud that it interferes with your call, get it changed. But the new ones you get might have the noises too. So what is important here is to keep the noise to the minimum.
With / Without the noise is totally an unknown cause now. At least have it settled to the least noisy.

Bought myself my GT-S5570 (Galaxy Mini) a couple of months ago. This is my first Android experience. At first I was pleased, but then I noticed this static noise whilst in call. It's like, suddenly I can have ill-isch, distorted, "noise spikes" sort of things. Left my phone in for service under warranty. When I had it back, it was still messy. Bought myself a GT-5660 (Galaxy Gio) a week ago, thinking that this one would clear the issue. It's still there, though. I'm wondering if this is something that affects the whole Galaxy series, even the tougher models like S/S2.

yesterday my cousin bought i9000 too. First of all i looked for the noise. It is interesting that that phone is nearly noise free. If i gave 10 point noise to my i9000 than that phone will be 2 points. You can hardly hear the noise. After that i get her SIM card and test my phone with that sim card.Noise is still there.I make that phone software same with my phone. That phone still has no noise.
I think the problem is in phone parts. Maybe a defected series of speakers used in our phones. I will buy a new speaker module on internet. I hope that fix my problem.
For me it depends more of the network I use than the phone. It happens sometime with an iPhone.
as i stated in my previous post in this thread, in my case i was sure it was the loud-speaker, i say "was" because i sold the phone, and thats the reason why i didn't come back to this thread since..
it seems there was something wrong with the loudspeaker(on the back of the phone), and it was, at least to me, one of those things where a person might not really notice unless you're looking for it.. my bad luck had caused me to flash a certain modem and the reception was bad, so once i reverted to the previous modem i was checking for the sound clarity and that was when i first noticed the static during calls..
then i realized it was coming from the speaker, as one good man in this thread suggested. i couldn't handle it though, i could hear it every time i make a call..
it didn't make a difference whether i was on 3g or gsm or both, it was always there, unless i went into airplane mode..
so i ended up selling the phone, and bought another, but before i had bought it i put my sim inside and made sure there was no static, and there isn't, whatsoever.. thank god.
i'm sorry i couldn't find any other solution to the problem, samsung service here had said they would replace the speaker, as the part comes on its own, unlike the case for the phone speaker, which, according to samsung, is bundled with the screen, and if i had wanted to change it i would have had to pay something like 200$ to fix...
those who have this problem, check if its the loudspeaker on the back of the phone is the actual culprit, and if it is, try to find a way to replace it or something, that is if it bothers you this much. or you can just sell the phone, there's a 99% chance those who buy it won't notice anything, because they're not looking for it..

UPDATE: Sept, 23rd, 2013: I gave in a week ago and replaced my phone with a re-manufactured one per the suggestion of another rep. Was hesitant since I was doubtful it would solve the problem, nor did I want any NEW issues. Well, the replacement phone seems fine, except it still has the same microphone issue. A caller this weekend who hadn't actually experienced this problem with me before was very confused while talking to me... "hello? hello? You sound far away."

UPDATE: May 29th, 2013: We are aware of the problem and there is a fix in the works, however, I do not currently have an ETA as to when that fix will roll out OTA as an update.

Work Around 1: My personal work around so far is to hold phone steady, don't move it, and talk very evenly (no changes in volume). Occasionally have people unable to hear me, but my satisfaction with the phone has gone up now that I can control the problem more.

Important Note: If the noise cancellation mic (top back of phone) hears your voice clearly, it may think you are background noise! Once you're registered as background noise, you'll have to be patient and wait 10-15 seconds for the phone to reset. Talking louder will lengthen the problem. Resist the urge, and speak at a normal volume until the caller can hear you again.

I've had numerous people say I sound "distant", "muffled" or "very quiet" from time to time. It doesn't happen a lot and has been hard to track down. I now know it's not location, or signal related. The "pinky finger over mic" idea is brilliant, but I've been holding my phone with as minimal contact as possible since reading about the signal deathgrip issue to rule that one out too.
I even just called HTC on my ONE to report the problem and it started doing it. The girl couldn't believe what she was hearing.
Unfortunately, they couldn't replicate it in their offices immediately.
After some thinking, I can reproduce this problem any time now and wanted to see if anyone else could as well.
I think it is related to the dynamic MIC gain not resetting quickly enough, if at all.
Call someone and just start talking normally for a few sentences.
Turn the phone so the bottom edge (where the microUSB + MIC are) are pointing straight towards your mouth.
Speak a couple more sentences. (You may need to get it close to your mouth, you may need to speak slightly elevated to trigger the issue... But don't SCREAM AT THE PHONE; it seems to be smart enough to not be affected by this)
Revert phone to normal talking position and continue conversation.
When I do this... the other person cannot hear or make out what I'm saying for 10-15 seconds. Now obviously this seems stupid right? Who talks this way? Well, how do you talk to someone when you're looking something up on your phone during a call?
The real gotcha is that it happens to me when I'm just in a plain conversation. My thinking on that is maybe I coughed, or laughed loudly for a sec, or just accidentally moved the phone closer than I should have since I don't tend to sit like a statue when I'm in a call.
Let me know what you get, hopefully I can rule out personal phone defect vs. issue for HTC to look into for all of us.
Dude... you might have hit the nail on the head. I have exact same feedback from people.. they say "Are you there..? Can you ehar me.. " all of a sudden in the middle of a conversation. I will try this now with someone I know.. me being on the HTC One.

I'm glad it's not just me! It's frustrating especially during business calls, or conversations with older family members. Times when you really really need the phone to just work.
I've used Google Voice on another phone to call into and have made perfect MP3 recordings of this problem and already sent them to HTC. I can trigger this issue now on demand no problem by doing the above.

Excellent characterization of it, perhaps even badass, if I may.
Let me know if you still have the problem on your new phone by doing my test above with someone when you can. It's so easy to do. Just have a conversation and in the middle of it, turn the bottom mic to your mouth and talk just a little more loudly... then resume conversation. Guaranteed issue here on my phone.
And like I said, for anyone else passing by this thread... I know I'm sort of forcing the phone to have an issue by doing this, but it's just an easy way to show what has been happening to those of us with the problem during normal day-to-day conversations.
Once it happens, the louder you talk actually will make it worse. My only cure is to be silent and wait for it to "cool off" the processing it is doing. Again, not easy to do if your recipient isn't understanding.
I get the same comments from people too. They say it sounds like I talk away from the phone randomly, or cant hear what I am saying correctly. Funny thing is that when I was force roaming on verizon I never had one complaint about that. The first phone call after switching back to a sprint prl I had that complaint. So who knows

I've sent them three audio samples to a special email they gave me for one of their upper tiers who wanted to look at this case specifically.
I'm able to make it happen with excellent signal, etc. and can do it every time now just by temporarily talking a little louder by turning the MIC towards my mouth.
No HTC response as of yet. Recordings were sent in 3 days ago. I'll update here as we move forward.

Nada thing yet. I can still do it on demand no problem and still have people occasionally tell me they suddenly can't hear me.
I just called to check up and was told that I in fact, will be getting a call from the escalation team soon according to the notes on the ticket and they'll talk to me about my findings and may ask me to reproduce it on the fly. Obviously, I'll provide all info I learn back here.
I see...my 14 day return period was ending so I'm gonna just exchange the phone. I bought online so shipping is a bit of an ordeal.
Question, are you using an Airave by any chance? I make most of my calls off one, and haven't noticed the problem outside of using it with the Airave - altho it is a much smaller sample size. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it. I'm also usually on WiFi when this happens.

Never been on an airave. I've tried in 3G areas, 4G areas, with WIFI on, with WIFI off, toggling between CDMA only and CDMA/LTE. I've had the issue in varying degrees of excellent signal and just average. I can also produce the effect (although it's not as drastic) with just using the voice recorder app.
Not that all of these make a difference, but just trying to be helpful so you know my exact situation. Let me know if after exchanging you see any improvement! I assume you're able to reproduce what I've done above with your current phone?
Update: Disappointing so far. I didn't get a call from the tech, but spoke to someone else after I received notification in an HTC Ticket. The new rep asked lots of questions, some relating to the problem, some not... he said he'd talk to the other tech (to whom I sent my audio samples) and would get back to me.

Erick_HTC is doing a Q&A on reddit later today, might be worth shooting it to him, he has gotten some answers for people in the past.

Not sure if my issue is related, but randomly on a call, usually a couple minutes in, I start getting severely choppy audio both in and out like nearly every other word is being dropped. This has happened while on a Airrave, in my car, and just standing in a parking lot.
I'm not seeing others with this exact issue but maybe someone can chime in as well? Might be I just got a lemon from a launch day pickup.

To update everyone else on this thread, we're moving along and I sent them audio samples recorded from the other person's end (recipient).
Seems like we are beginning to lean towards the noise cancellation mic on the back occasionally picking up your voice while in a call, and then the phone filtering your voice out, inadvertently thinking YOU are background noise. The frequency cut would make you sound far away, or like in a tunnel.
Makes sense and it may be randomly happening during a call when you switch ears, look something up on your phone, maybe turn your phone to let someone else speak with you on the phone for a moment, etc. and the mic on the back of the phone picks you up (these are personal theories).
My personal work around so far is to hold phone steady, don't move it, and talk very evenly (no changes in volume). Occasionally have people unable to hear me, but my satisfaction with the phone has gone up now that I can control the problem more.
I noticed muffled call quality as well and think it might be a defect. I noticed an issue also when I tried testing out the video quality and recorded a song playing from my stereo system. After recording it, I noticed almost all of the sound was on the left channel, and the right channel was almost non-existent. I uploaded the video to my computer to hear it and noticed the same issue - the left earphone was loud and clear, the right was very quiet.
Do those of you who have call quality issues also notice microphone issues during video recordings?

I'm having the same problems.....call recipients complain of my voice going in and out. I originally thought it was a defective mic. However, when I tried to record my voice like jpzsports, both left and right channels produced clear sound. I've also tried covering both rear and front mics while recording my voice...the muffled sound only occurs when I cover the front mic (which would be expected).
I'm leaning towards lauski's theory. It does seem to be some type of defective noise cancellation software that chooses to actively cut out my voice. At least, that's the only thing that would make sense if the mic seems to be functioning properly.
Let me know if you guys figure anything else out!
I can replicate the problem all the time by holding the phone with my shoulder instead of my hand. I thought it was my otterbox or I was blocking a Mic but I'm not...Hope a SW update fixes it.
Btw it's my left shoulder pressed against my ear.

Slight crackle in speakers?

Does anyone else have a slight crackle noticeable at high volume while playing songs or loud noises? Its a slight crackle and you can tell the sound is not as pure as it should be. Put a song on YouTube full blast and see if you can notice any little crackle, you might notice sound is not butter smooth....
I have a crackle on the bottom speaker with the stock ringtone. i posted about it on here, but noone responded
I have the same issue with the volume is all the way up. But if I lower the volume a little it's good. This phone is crazy loud

Yea it sounds like a software blip actually. The sound isnt like a rattle from an unseated or blown speaker its strange. I wonder why no one else hasnt brought this up...

Yea if i blownin the top speaker while its playing it crackles loke crazy. Not that you shoukd do that. I did very lightly. The bottom speaker does not. Might have to rma.
Happens in top speaker for me as well. I notice it particularly well with the second half of the ringtone/notification sound, "Ganymede." Should we ask for a replacement?

This has to be an audio bug. I have also noticed it on my ATT Model. I have also noticed that the ringer volume drops dramatically when receiving calls. It is also hard to hear the person on the other unless the phone is held close to the ear.
Been having the same issue. It seems to mainly happen at the beginning of some notification sounds, almost like it has trouble initializing the sound on command.
I noticed this when I was playing a game, after muting all sounds, it sounds like the speaker is still active and produces noise. Its more of a hum than a crackle, for me at least. I I'm pretty sure its a software issue and not a hardware.

With regards to the popping/crackling/buzzing that I posted earlier in this thread (I think on the last page to be exact; also this may be different from what you're describing), I have confirmed via a replacement device that I just received today that it was a hardware defect, NOT a software defect. There is no popping/crackling/buzzing or anything like that with the new one, and I even held them side by side and did a comparison for another person just to make sure I'm not crazy haha (though it was pretty apparent when the new one didn't exhibit the problem I was hearing with the first one). On a side note, the screen on the new one looks like it has better whites (I didn't have a problem with the other screen, and it looked just fine to me, but side by side you can see a difference and I guess I got a two for one on this by doing the exchange!)
And finally, I didn't have to update the replacement out of the box like I did the first phone, which means they're now shipping phones that already have the latest update applied to them. Just thought I'd check back to let you all know that if you do have this issue, you SHOULD RMA/exchange it for a new one, because it is NOT a software glitch if you have the same issues that I described previously.

I first noticed a problem with my speakers when I made my first call. My nexus 5 always had great call quality but my friend sounded so hollow and not at all as clear as on the 5.
Then I tried sounds, music. It definitely has a noticeable 'peak' and high and low notes flatten and rattle. Is this what you all are experiencing?

Anyone noticing issues with WhatsApp? I can't seem to hear the conversation tone while I'm chatting. The notification rings just fine, it's just the conversation tone. I've factory reset, but made no difference. Any help will be appreciated.
hey all, i definitely have crackle on the bottom speaker. i do not have any issues with the top. I hear it with notifications as well as music. Here is a good test YouTube video that i am using to see if anyone can compare. I have to hit the vol rocker down 7 times from full volume to get crackling to go away.
I've contacted Google (i purchased through Google Play Store) and they are shipping out a replacement saying this should not happen.
Here are the steps they had me take to test the device.
1) make sure Bluetooth was off
2) check the volume settings for all types of notifications (ringtone, alerts, alarm...)
3) reboot into safe mode and see if it still persists
---> to boot into safe mode, hold the power button like u are going to turn the phone off, when the "Power off" option pops up on screen, long press it and it will ask if you;d like to boot into safe mode. THIS ONLY LETS STOCK APPS TO RUN, thats why i used youtube for the example.
4) factory reset(they asked how i did it, i did it normally through the system settings)
After this, the rep explained that this was the first time she heard of the issue and the replacement device shouldn't have any speaker issues.
I also asked if it will be a new device and she said yes, no refurbishes. If the issue happens again, she mentioned to call back in and they will replace it no problem. Hopefully this first replacement won't have the same problem, but i love the phone so much that im willing to have them ship multiple out until i get a good one.

EDIT: forgot to mention, they put a hold on your credit card for up to 7 days until they receive the device back. You SHOULD choose next day shipping as that will be part of the hold and your card will NOT get charged for any extra shipping charges.

here is a quick youtube video i made comparing a faulty device and a working device
pay attention to the "dings" in the beginning of each part of the video, you may have to watch it a couple times to hear the difference - to me its noticeable right away. The first 3-4 seconds of the video sounds fuzzy/crackly... The same "dings" around 7 seconds are not fuzzy or crackly at all.... there you have it folks, Hardware defect!

I definitely think the crackling is a software but and not a speaker hardware problem. I have the same issue, but it's only intermitten. And there are two or three other threads on here about people with crackling issues with lots of replies. I am hoping a fix may come down the road.

It's pretty embarrassing when I pull out this brand new device that sounds like it was dropped in water or someone tried to clean the speakers and messed them up. Cmon software updates!

there was another thread on this i replied to, but someone mentioned they had the same issue. some people have it with the top speaker, some with the bottom. I get crackling in the bottom speaker... In order to not hear crackling, i have to press the volume rocker down 7 times which is insane.
i contacted Google via Google Play store and they are shipping out a replacement after some initial troubleshooting. The rep i spoke with advised it's not normal for crackling and it was the first she had heard of the issue.
One of the forum members in the other thread mentioned they got their replacement and compared the two side to side with someone else in the room just so he knew he wasn't going crazy. The replacement was 100% working, no crackle. Also he advised the new device shipped with the latest firmware on it so it would seem new batches are getting shipped...
ill be receiving my replacement monday and ill try to come back and post results.

Yep same here. I've got my sms tone set to "Elara", and sometimes it starts ok and then gets severely garbled. It's almost as if some other background process is interfering with it. In fact I wouldn't mind betting that's what it is. Also sometimes when I send a viber or a fb messenger message it misses the first half of the sound it makes when you hit send.
Definitely something not right with it, and I agree, for a brand new 500 quid handset it's not on.
I am having the static/crackle issue with my calendar notification (doesn't always happen and I can reliably play the notification through the menu). I have posted a video of it on YouTube. This doesn't seem to be a hardware issue to me as it plays fine other teams and other audio (such as watching music videos) seems to play without fault.

I have already returned one phone and I still have the exact same issue with "new" phone. Even after the 5.1 update.
Intermittent crackling/garbling/static and occasional popping of some but not all notification sounds. I can not predict when it will happen at all.

[Q] Nexus 6 Vibration Clicking

I upgraded from a Nexus 5 and am now a proud owner of a Nexus 6. The issue I'm having is that occasionally the haptic feedback on my phone will have weird clicking noises as i'm typing. I have read MANY people having this issue, but i'm not sure if I should get this swapped out or not? Any advice would be appreciated, other than the annoying random clicking of the vibrating motor (which isnt an OS sound nor the camera lens), my device seems flawless. I have heard people swapping them out and getting screens that are tinted yellow/pink though.
P.S. I also have a weird noise when my Nexus 6 starts wirelessly charging.....you hear the sound from the speaker and then the vibration motor makes a hissing noise.....anyone else have that?

I had hissing when I was on the phone. My camera was also defective so I returned mine. Waiting on a replacement

Dude I have the same "issue" with the hepatic feedback. Some say it's a manufacture tolerance, some it is de IS of the camera moving by the vibration motor, some that it is the speakers. I really don't know what to think now and I am starting to get used to . I am afraid of replacing it because another manufacture problem could appear.
Because my unit beside this, again, "issue" it's flawless like yours.

If you listen closely to the video I posted, you can here it refocusing in the video. And when I shake it, I hear the same sound. If you are experiencing this, I would get it replaced. I sent mine back yesterday.

That's not focus it seems to be the IS of the camera trying to stabilize the shot. Don't got that problem... Yet hahaha. It started a while after you got the phone or right out of the box???

Well I swapped it out and it seems the vibration click and hissing is gone. You can still hear the IS vibrate, but there isnt that added weird click with it thats random. Im on Sprint, now im having an issue with getting the Data activated UGHH! There is a ! next to the Signal bars and LTE keeps flashing.......durn
So the IS still clicks/vibrate?
Definitively a manufacturing tolerance issue or design one.
