music album art stuck on lockscreen and volume button doesnt allow silent mode - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hi I just got an s5 phone that I rooted, and I am having trouble with two things. first, the album cover art appears to stay on the lockscreen, even after i pause the music. second, the volume button does not let me switch the phone into silent mode. pressing the "down" volume button repeatedly only puts it into vibrate mode. any ideas on how i can fix these? thanks

I alsl have this issue, it used to go vibrate then silent, i compromised by just adding the sound quicktile to my notification panel so i can just set it to silent when that happens, ive also set it to default to media instead of ringtone in gravitybox since its usually what im trying to turn up when i accidentaly turn up the ringer.

Volume Control

I have tried to find a thread on this issue, but to no avail.
I use HTC Home with the new ATT 6.1ROM.
With Bluetooth activated I will often use HTC Home to change ringer settings. When I have the phone on Ring & Bluetooth and all volume up everything works fine.
After I switch to Vibrate or Off then back to Ring I find that the Phone Volume is not off. It shows as Ring enabled but the volume is turned off.
Is this due to Bluetooth? Is there any way to stop this from occuring as I dont always have my bluetooth in and the phone wont ring even though i put the Ring option on because the volume is turned off and I keep missing calls.
My work around so far has been that instead of just hitting the HTC Home Ring button, I have to do that and check the volume control. I would like to cut out that last step.
Thanks

[Q] vibrating on off when in mute by using volume buttons

Hello.
Since jp6 / froyo there is no option to turn off off vibrating when disabling volume by pressing the volume buttons.
With jm1 there has been the option vibrating->volume off.
Now with froyo you can only choose between volume on and then volume off with vibrations.
In the settings its possible to turn off vibrating when the phone is muted but not both. I would like to choose between vibrating on or off when the phone is muted by pressing the volume buttons like in jm1, is this possible?
Thanks in advance!

anyone?
sry 4 double post...
The vibrate implementation has changed. Go to Settings>Sound>General and then set your Vibrate options (Always, never, Only in silent mode, Only when not in silent mode)
yes, this works, but this is not that comfortable as it was with eclair... :-( Sometimes its nice to turn off vibrating directly...

[Q] Toggling Normal, Silent & Vibration Modes?

In Kit Kat, I held down the power key for a second and was then able to select different sound profiles depending on where I was.
In Lollipop, the only option I get is Power Down!
Have the toggles moved somewhere else?
They have been removed, the tap the bell icon in the volume bar (through the rockers), it will set to vibrate. And then, there is the priority settings to mess about - no silent mode, for now; perhaps on 5.1!
Cool thanks
Press one of the volume buttons. Then tap "None". That will set your phone for no interruptions which is what I'm finding to be silent mode. You can set some contacts to have a priority and use the priority setting to allow certain contacts to still ring.

Note that this will only work until the next time Moto Voice is invoked (purposely or accidentally); then the phone will set the ringer volume to 60% and leave it there.
WTF?

Yeah, I think that's clearly a bug. Hope they can fix in next release.

[Q] How to put phone in vibrate or sound mode while listening to music?

I was listening to music at the gym this morning, and I wanted to switch my phone from Priority Mode to All. (I use Priority Mode as Silent Mode because I just turn off everything and it only allows Alarm to come through, and I always keep my phone on vibrate so All Mode is my Vibrate Mode.) However, I couldn't figure out how. I ended up having to stop the music, wait a few seconds, press the volume button, switch it, then play music again. Seems a bit tedious to do, so was curious if anyone knows another way? Thanks.
Yeah - wait for Android 5.1.

That unfortunately doesn't work if you are in Priority Mode or None mode. There is no way to switch the mode without using the volume button, but when listening to music, the volume button is then dedicated to the music volume.
EDIT: Nevermind...found it in Settings> Sound & Notification> Interruptions. Didn't realize the top setting changed the modes. It is worded differently so I didn't even think to try that. Thanks!

No sound control popup or actual volume change when using volume buttons

I'm running COS 6.1 A.10 on my unrooted/unlocked European X2 Pro.
When I press the physical volume buttons, I very often don't see the sound control popup. Sometimes it appears and I can change the volume, but in most cases it doesn't appear at all. It doesn't make a difference which app I'm using - YouTube, Prime Video. I don't have an active BT device linked or a headset plugged in either. Quiet Time is turned off, all volumes in Sound & Vibration are turned to medium, the default function for volume buttons is set to Media Volume although nothing changes if it's set to Media Volume.
I used to have MacroDroid to change sound settings based on time/location/events but that's uninstalled. I still have Do Not Disturb which mutes my phone during calendar events. Regardless of any such apps, I should still be able to use the volume buttons to adjust the volume but there are no popups most of the time.
I just restarted my phone and the volume popup is back. I know this happened before but after a while it's gone again without knowing why. Does anyone have an idea what could be the reason and how I can get my volume popup back permanently? Thanks for your help.
