[HOW TO] Disable navigation bar on Android L/M - Nexus 5 General

Hi, I decided to do this thread because I haven't seen anything like this.
So, how to disable navigation bar on Lollipop to use Pie Controls or anything? If you will use Pie Controls you have to enable it before following process.
I'm not responsible for any bricked devices.
So:
-First obviously you need to be a Root user.
-Backup your build.prop to your PC or anywhere.
-Edit build.prop with a Root Explorer using this line:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
You have to add this at the END of the .prop, save and reboot.
[FOR Marshmallow/Android 6.0]
If you're on Marshmallow (Android 6.0) the process is exactly the same, add the line at the end of the build.prop EXCEPT that you must leave 2 spaces after you added the line.
Like this:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Tested on my Nexus 5 with Android 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, 7.0, 7.1.1 and on my Nexus 6 running Android 6.0 and 7.1.1
(Should work with Android 5.0 and up).
That's all, hope it works.

I supposed that after you disable nav keys, you have to install PIE type of app? Is it LMT or LTM that I've read somewhere?
You might want to add that information just in case folks missed it and you'll get blamed.

Perfect. Thank you.

well .. it don't work for me. the phone don't boot after that. tried it twice.
what's wrong. build.prop keeps deleting itself. I go into recovery and its gone, I copy it over with the twrp file manager and after rebooting its gone again.
I can only flash system.img to get back into android.
edit: got it, forgot to set chmod 644. its working now.

Awesome rom...I'm really glad about the fact tht the rom has Quick Settings . Also when trying to toggle data, systemui.apk crashes and LED flashlight toggle doesnt work. Will look into more bugs
May be a noob question....
I understand this doesn't include gapps. And there isn't a gapps 4.3 zip. availeable yet? (I tried googling a download, I am either blind or didn't find one) But Ive tried downloading the newest android market and it isn't working. It lets me intstall the apk but when I select the icon to open the app a black window comes up. Can I not use google apps with this build at all? Ive tried the normal trouble shooting (redownload/ reboot) Havent tried a reflash yet, but thought I would post here first. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

hey guys.since every rom uses differnet System UI apk and its hassle for me and other friends to make transparency mods for each one of them,i thought i would share the way to get transparent nav and status bar to your liking.(0 to 100% transparent).
1.first,download Xposed framework from here.(if you are using the old version download the latest) Many thanks to Rovo89 for his awesome work

Just a simple mod for today. Nothing particularly complicated or time-consuming to do...but it can make a real change to the look of your phone!
I always liked the simple look of the 'swipe to unlock' Xperia lockscreen. But it's got no security at all. The pattern lock is better but looks terrible.
So...I took the pattern lock icons and made them transparent.
Now my lockscreen looks awesome and it's harder to break into!
To do this yourself, you can download the icons attached to this post and put them into the appropriate drawable-?dpi folder in your decompiled framework-res.apk.
Or, if you're not comfortable with decompiling apk files, just flash the attached zip in CWM (not TWRP). This zip will push a file called 'android-res.apk' into your 'system/vendor/overlay' folder.
By using an overlay apk, it means that your framework-res.apk isn't touched. So you won't lose any of the mods you may have done to it. Pretty cool, no?
Oh, and this zip will make a flashable backup too! Just in case you don't like the changes. Also pretty cool.
Enjoy!
Nice mod bro @Ticklefish
keep it up ^^

You do get used to it very quickly. Besides..being a bit harder to unlock isn't necessarily a bad thing. If someone steals your phone, they're going to be very puzzled!
It's possibly possible to move the lock. Not in xml though.

Awesome mod, thanks, works great after moving images to decompiled framework :good:
A little question however. Pattern dots are also got invisible in settings-security menu and when adding new widget at lockscreen (phone asks to enter pattern). Is it possible to make them invisible only in lockscreen?

Tricky. The settings menu and the widget screen you mention all use the same icons as the lockscreen. In theory, it could be possible to make the lockscreen use all new icons..but it would involve some smali editing..

Hi,Guys. Somebody hate truecaller on COS 12.1 . So this thread for you
REQUIRES ROOT!!!
1.Install any file manager which have root access (ex,Root Explorer, X-Plore).
2.Then go to root/system/priv-app. Here has DialerNext folder,rename it to Dialer. Into the folder has apk file DialerNext.apk. Delete it and copy Dialer.apk (which I uploaded below) into Dialer folder
3.Give true permission (I uploaded pictures for true permission)
4.Restart phone
5.Done
SECOND WAY!
REQUIRES CUSTOM RECOVERY (TWRP,CWM)
Thanks to @secretkloud & @johnb380

Flat Style Colored Bars (Xposed Module)
or just use this app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kk.dialer
it's similar to google dialer. no flashing or modifying system files needed
I might be missing out. Is something wrong with truecaller that a replacement is really wanted/needed? Should we not be using truecaller?

Speaking for myself (and I guess many many others), TrueCaller is an anti privacy solution, once you accept to join it immediately uploads your entire phone/address book to their servers to be able to share with other users (that's how it work, you girlfriends/wife/boss secret number will be on their servers, and when that number calls someone using truecaller they will see the name you have in your address book).
I just HATE this....
I added both of you name . Thank you

Hey. Thanks to all the posts here and to whoever posted that zip which flashes the Google dialer.
I made a flashable zip which deletes the truecaller apk, CM dialer and in call UI (DialerNext and INCallUINext) and replaces it with the dialer/call UI from the most recent CM 12.1 Nightly. Main advantage is that it has more forward/reverse lookup features and I think maybe also call recording depending on your location (doesn't seem to work in the USA but I managed to record a call in the UK).
I'm sharing it here for whoever is interested but flash at your own risk. Please note, it only worked for me on a clean flash so you will probably need to factory reset to get it to work. If you try a dirty flash you may end up without a dialer.

Let me know how it goes.

I suggest this zip - https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/cos-12-1-annoyances-fixes.350766/.
The above zip actually creates secondary contacts app. Apart from that, it's all same.

Ya I went back to temasek cm12.1 for bacon because there were a few bugs I just couldn't live with so I'm not on COS12.1 anymore. But thanks for the new zip if I go back I'll try it out!
