Guys, does the z3 compact has any anti shatter film or the film thingy after the front glass? Becuase i noticed my front glass has a small stragiht line about half an inch from the side of the screen. Its just like a crack and when i use my nails it feels its somehow cracked. So im wondering if its a film cover that has been scratched on top of the glass or is it already the glass.
as far as I know it doesn't have a film no... So it's probably a scratch on the glass itself :-/
Hate to resurrect an old thread, but Xperia Z3s do have a plastic anti-shutter film. I bought a device with a cracked screen. The crack was so small that I thought it was on the film. So, I removed it, but the crack was underneath,. By the way, unlike on Z1 and Z2, Z3 screen film leaves a horrible glue residue that CANNOT be removed by alcohol or any other glue thinner: tried them all. Since I didn't need the original screen, I tried to scrub some spots with a scalpel. It worked without damaging the original glass, but to clean the entire screen would take the whole day. So, thank you, Sony, again... for making a glass screen covered with cheap plastic.
I bought an after-market display: I didn't use generic sticky, but instead applied B7000 adhesive glue. I bought a bottle with a fine metal tip; put a thin layer of glue on the frame; let it sit for 2 minutes, and then set the screen applying little pressure. After that, I put the phone under about 20 pounds of book weight and let it sit overnight. I am not sure about waterproofing, but it looks and feels like the screen has become a part of the frame: no movement, no squeaking at all...

Just for info, there's two in the box. it covers ONLY the screen that has the LCD. DOesn't cover whole face.
Never had issues sticking on these static type protectors but this one gave me hell. ruined both. the protector is slightly tacky. And will attact dust(like any like this) so make sure you're in a clean room. But both of my protectors wouldn't stick on the edges of the protector. and every time I tried to peel it up and putting it back down, it still didn't hold. Then dust got under it. augh. Ruined both. I wonder if they would take them back since both wouldn't stick on teh edges? Aww... they will probably say I'm returning it because I got dust under it.
i know how you feel! i bought them when i got my hd2 and i got the top two-thirds of the protector on perfect but then the bottom third somehow got dust underneath, it really not that bad when the screen is on but its still annoying. cant wait to get my invisibleshield on it tho!

I used invisishield on my ipod. Great stuff, but hard to get on perfect. 3 parts for a curved back and front only covers the LCD part? The front part sounds so unlike them. They normally have it going round buttons and everything.
But it's like putting tint on. You need to have a liquid to make slide just right.
i used invisible shield on my iphone, and it was fully protected. It did add grip to the device which i liked. Anyways, the maximum protection shield covered more than the normal full-body shield. It'll cover not only the LCD screen but all spaces around the hardware buttons and well as the speaker.

I also got these same screen protectors and was dissapointed when it did not cover the entire screen.
Trick to putting on screen protectors.
1.) Make sure the screen is completely clean of all smudges etc.
2.) Use a can of air duster to remove any small dust particles that might be stuck on the phone. If you don't have that then just take a piece of tape and remove any dust particles or dirt from the screen. This is the most important part!
3.) Line up the screen protector on the screen where you want to place it.
4.) Peel back the backing of the screen protector as you lay the screen on the device. Start from the top of the device and work your way down. If need be take out a credit card or another hard piece of plastic of some sort to push out any air bubbles that may occur as you lay down the screen protector.'
5.) Enjoy a job well done.

You get a screen protector with the phone and we here in the UK don't.
I have heard mention that when some EU units have been returned for screen problems they have been repaired with what has appeared to be a plastic version of the screen.
My phone is now coming on three months old, never had a protector, never used a case and the screen is immaculate.
Can anyone say if theirs "feels" like plastic?

My TMOUS HDC HD2 is definitely glass.
I didn't bother to use a screen protector (didn't even know there was one supplied)...it isn't necessary on a glass screen.
Its very hard to scratch glass...you would need a very sharp object, made out of a very hard material (harder than glass), applied with a lot of pressure. I've had my iPhone for 3 years, and the glass is flawless on it. The aluminum housing is scratched, dented, and dinged up, and the LCD panel has a little bit of bruising on the top left corner BEHIND the glass...but the glass itself is immaculate.
Apple actually pulled the screen protectors off the shelves from the Apple store because they felt they were unnecessary..and frankly anyone who pays for one on the HD2 or iPhone wasted their money.
You'll actually see more imperfections on the screen by applying a screen protector...they have a tendency to attract dust, bubble up, and flat out get dirty. The only maintenance you need to do on a glass screen is polish out smudges and finger prints.
The biggest peril to glass touch screens is cracks from falls....and if your HD2 suffers a big enough impact, a screen protector or 'invisible shield' won't do squat to keep it from cracking
glass or plastic..either way.. i was soooooooooooo confident i wouldnt scratch mine, until about a minute ago when i was in the process of wiping the glass(plastic) screen before putting on a screen protector, i noticed a little scratch...great. Should've put on a protector sooner...
From now on, I willl be putting on a screen protector unless the screen are made out of crystal sapphire or something..

We actually do not get an included screen protector. Only the black gel case, which imo is quite crappy... loose and flimsy

I also would like to note that my TMOUS HD2 did not include any screen protectors in the box.
Sorry imo I have to disagree with you about the included gel being loose mine fits quite snugly and until my zagg comes in I prefer to keep it in the gel...not as slick & keeps the screen(when face down) off the flat surface.
A tipp for all you guys getting dust under the screen:
I always apply a new screen protector in my bathroom after showering - the steam in the air (the more steam, the better) binds most of the dust particles and makes it A LOT easier to get a perfect result!

I agree, I used to do this back in the day before Zagg came around. It works great.
I have read with other products people use a drop or water/soap water before applying a screen protector. Has anyone used this method on this device? i am concerned that the water will somehow ruin the device. I know it's only a drop or 2 but wanted to get some feedback first before i tried it.

So now i'm stuck wondering whether to bother with the same for my O2X?
I know its got Gorilla Glass, but not sure I would trust it in my pocket with keys... and would be gutted if my phone got scratched.
So what does everyone else do?

The image shows two kinds of covers, do you get both or is it just one or the other?. I like the kickstand tho
But I will assume it just attaches on top of the original one or?. But in earnest I would prefer a regular screen protector on the LG's screen, simply because they are easier to keep clean and doesn't take to fingerprints etc too easily.

Metals can't scratch glass! Never! Not only gorilla glass.. try the "key trick" on your home's windows!
Metals can't scratch glass(but there are exceptions.. like cutters, that can scratch easly due to the small contact area - high pressure on the glass) .. but minerals can scratch so easly glass, even gorilla glass!
And ground=minerals
When I got mine O2X I didn't take off screen protector. Today when I looked it seemed like it was scratched. How is it posible? Is it posible that the screen is also scratched? I'm afraid to take it off to check the screen.
edit: Is this gorilla glass screen really that scratch-proof for everything except sand, minerals and glass?

The screen's gorilla glass is really THAT good actually.. most people will say no need to use screen protector... but for myself.. I do use just for extra safety.. since even the best of them are quite cheap online.
The stock 'screen protector' is not really a screen protector.. its just a transparent sticker pasted for packaging protection. I doubt your screen is scratched, but you need to remove it to actually know..
I suggest if you are planning to buy a real screen protecter, buy those made with PET material (some even use PET from 3M), they are more durable and scratch resistant. Becareful with the terms...its sratch RESISTANT not scratch PROOF. Two different things. But it IS better.

Yes, the "stock screen protector" scratches easily…
…and No, i wouldn't expect any real scratches in the screen itself/the gorilla glass itself - it is most probably intact.
You can either ignore these small scratches in the plastic foil or get one more scratch resistant.
I also didn’t take of the protective foil – just lazy…
Now after 3 months of usage mine looks quite battered and I will replace it if I have a minute.
I do not think everything is perfect in this world
gorilla glass can also be scratched, especially for small objects such as sharp sand
I suggest to you to always use additional security on your screen scratch resistant though, because some of my friends who use o2x also been scratched on the screen due to sand
You cannot injure the screen through a protector so rest assured there. Personally I always will use a screen protector. I don't feel right if my phone is "naked" so to speak, makes me uber paranoid.

So I noticed some scratches on the glass cover of the camera. I got some replacement glasses, to replace myself. Is there a trick/guide to take off the previous glass, without breaking it?
Some videos say to use a heat gun, but as I understand, the back cover, and even the actual lenses are made of plastic. I'm afraid I'd melt the lenses, and/or make them murky. So I didn't use a heat gun, and I tried using a sharp cutter to pry it open, but it's very hard, as the glass is lower than/flush with the outer ring. I ended up shattering the glass. Luckily, the shards didn't scratch the lenses (as far as I know of). The problem is, the new glass I glued on it got fingerprint on the inside (yeah, human error on my part). Now I have a few other replacement glasses (I bought a few, just in case), but I'm afraid I'd shatter this one again, trying to get it open with a cutter. If you wanna fix the glass, you can scratch it with an eraser or rub some toothpaste on it.

What tempered glass is everyone using for the V60? I don't use the Dual Screen, so I just need it to cover the phone screen.
Dmax glass was the thinnest glass screen protector I have ever seen for any phone I've put glass on ever.
Came in a pack of two. I chipped and cracked the edge of one with my fingernail simply taking the film off to install it. The second cracked in a couple days later from setting the phone down too hard I guess.
LK glass had poor adhesion. Large air bubbles on the edges of the screen. Bad enough I took it off after a month to try a diffrent brand. Noticed the sticky part of the glass felt subpar after uninstall.
Now using Zagg glass and its okay. Doable for now. However a thin ring shaped air bubble is present on the Zagg around the edges of the screen. It's thin and even, and can't be seen when the screen is on. When off it looks like its gonna start peeling up at the edges.
The issue I had with glass is that its too thick to close the cover if you have one on the phone and one on the sexind screen
AmFilm is what I put on the phone today. Came in a pack of three. Probably the best protector I've tried yet.
Thicker glass, might be a true 0.3mm. No bubbles or rings near the edges. Sticks very well, good adhesive.
Touch is good and looks are good with the screen off or on.
However, AmFilm is slightly (1mm?) shorter and narrower than the Zagg glass.
The Zagg glass was 0.26-0.23mm thick and covered more screen surface. The Zagg covers more screen surface than LK, DMax, or AmFilm.
However, the Zagg never adhered to the screen edges completely resulting in a white ring air pocket along the outer edges of the protector.
The Zagg glass was stuck to the screen very well when I removed it. The outer air pocket never did grow in size, was very narrow, just annoyed me to look at when the screen was off.
Overall the Zagg was a good option, but maybe not for those like me that value good looks as highly as I do.
The DMax Armor glass I tried was so thin, it might be an option for the dual screen case. DMax could have been 0.15mm thick possibly. Really similar to the Baseus ultra thin glass.
It's very fragile stuff as noted above, but again DMax might be as thick as double overlapped film protectors.
