motomaker order issues - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So on Tuesday the 9th I ordered a pure edition moto x with the cyber monday code.
I used a visa debit and had the shipping address in washington state at a shipping/receiving location that I use all the time for amazon and ebay purchases. (its a verified paypal address also)
Got an email a couple hours later saying my order was on hold and gave me a number to call.
I phoned them and after being on hold for a bit they said that the shipping address I used wasn't going to work as it was a 3rd party location. (dont know how they knew that as it is just addressed to my name with a street address....)
So I re ordered using the Cali address associated with the visa... I'll be there in a couple weeks.
Couple hours later got another email saying the order is on hold and to call. So I called and went through several different reps all not knowing why my order was on hold. They said I will get a confirmation email within 72hrs and all would be well. Also gave me a 25$ voucher for accessories for my trouble. (this I never received)
Fastforward to today I get an email saying my order has been canceled (the second order)(still nothing regarding the first order which I assume is canceled)
So I called and went through 2 reps and then a supervisor who said that I should use a different card and that maybe the issue was with my cc company. (this process took about 45 mins)
Checked with my bank and find out that as this is a Visa debit there has been two WITHDRAWALS from my bank account. (adding up to basically 1000$
So I called back and relayed this new information to yet another rep. He says that though my email said cancelled it just means it is still under review and I should hear something within 72 hours. He offered me the 25$ discount and this one I actually did get...
Any tips on what to do??? Right now I'm out a grand...have no Idea if i will get a phone...
lets hear your motomaker horror stories

I can't offer any suggestions for your current predicament, but for the future I'd offer two suggestions;
1 Use a credit card Instead of debit.
2 Always use your residential address.
I hope this works out for you. Good luck.

I do not have a non debit credit card...others have used their visa debit cards without issue... I have no other choice.
I did use my residential address the second time....
Anybody have their order say it "remains cancelled" and then have it go through?

Call your bank.

Well they just refunded both charges...without explanation
So I placed the order again...only now the turbo charger is out of stock this is seriously frustrating....

ATT Premier rebate form for December

Hi
Can someone please put up the rebate for the ATT tilt that was valid for December and up until now.
I bought a tilt last week of December and ATT seemed to have removed the rebate from premier, I had saved it somewhere but cant seem to find it.
If someone has the rebate form for premier and can post it online, I will really appreciate it.
Thanks
I'm 99% sure I have this saved at my work computer, but unfortunately I won't be back in the lab until Tuesday. If no one else posts it up by then, I can get it for you.
I can attain that for you!!
You mean this $100 rebate valid 11/04/07-01/19/08 that is still on the main ATT website listed with the Tilt?

This is the one that is for the main website customers. not for Premier.

If any one of you can get it to me, I will really appreciate it. no hurries, tuesday shd be fine
What was the difference between the premier rebate and the regular store rebate forms. Just go into a corporate location and they should be able to get you one. I think its still 100 bucks. atleast thats what the ones here at my store say.
Make sure you got the unl. data plan or you only get 25$, and thats a whole nother form.
The regular rebates work just fine for premier orders.....
My rebate through Premiere is processed from this form. Hasn't been mailed yet, but it worked fine. Put

Crap so I got Smart Phone Connect which I guess doesn't qualify for the rebate?
If I sign up for the qualifying plan as I send in the rebate will that work?
Anyone know how strict they are with these?!??! CRAP!!
THANKS
As promised.. here's the Premier rebate form for the last period
edit: holdon, the file seems to be too large..
ah ha! So I took the filename from the pdf and plugged it into the premier rebate url and it work. hope this helps!

From the rebate:
+Requires activation on a PDA Personal Plan or a $39.99 or higher unlimited data rate plan or a $19.99 or higher messaging plan plus an AT&T Voice Plan of $39.99 or higher

I have the $39.99 plan and a $29.99 Smartphone Unlimited Internet+1500msg plan. I'm thinking it'll be fine per their description.
My question, is this only for new activation? I bought a TILT on Ebay and the user gave me the receipt + the proof-of-purchase/IMEI sticker. I already had an account. I'm curious if this is will work, or if I need a seperate rebate as this says "AT&T Online only". Anyone have the store-based rebates available for print?
Is this only for new activation or will an activation 19months ago work?
Rebate Visa
Don't forget, people, since they give a visa credit card, rather than a debit card, you must charge exactly $100 to get the full rebate. The combination of credit and an expiration date is a fantastic way for AT&T to pick up a couple of bucks here and there from each of us.
Since its a credit card, your charges either are within your credit limit or they aren't. Unlike a debit card, you can't take $2.87 off if that's what you have left (unless you are charging a $2.87 item).
Nothing to do or say ... it is as it is ... just be careful; or your $100 rebate will become $94.87

Gasoline purchases seem like a good way to bleed these cards dry, yes?

Another reason why PayPal SUCKS

So here is my absolute HORROR STORY of dealing with PayPal.
I sold a phone on eBay (an Evo with a clean ESN and rooted w/ICS) and the seller emails me a few days later saying the phone can't be activated and they were on the phone with sprint for 3 hours and the "other Evo they bought was able to be activated (wtf? why would they buy two for the same account??)" so I asked them for the ESN number to double check... they give me the serial number. REALLY? You've been on the phone with Sprint for "3 hours" but don't know the damn ESN number??? The person is obviously a LIAR. I eventually get them to give me the ESN (which sprint says they can activate and say they haven't had anyone trying to activate the ESN... proving they are a liar). I ask why they didn't just go to the store since I looked up their address and they had one close by. They ignore the question and say they are going to file a report against me. I say go ahead, thinking paypal will listen to my evidence.... NOPE!!!!!
PayPal completely IGNORES the evidence and after freaking WEEKS they give her the money back!!! I have NO PHONE, NO TRACKING NUMBER, and NO MONEY!!!
WTF!!!
Oh and get this.. "the phone can't be activated because it has ICS...". I literally screamed in anger when I read this. I've activated phones rooted with ICS a million times, and it was in the damn description that it had ICS.
I'm calling PayPal tomorrow and telling them to give me the money, or give me a tracking number, or I'm filing a damn police report.
I used to take up for Paypal when others would report similar issues; but, when it happened to me, I finally understood just how merciless Paypal can be.
I had an old iTunes account floating out there that I forgot to cancel, and also forgot to pull my info from the account. It was totally my fault for leaving the stuff out there like that, I don't deny it, but what happened next forever changed my view of Paypal.
Somehow, someone got ahold of this account, and purchased two iTunes gift cards in the amount of $50 each. As soon as these hit my bank, I contacted Paypal, and explained that I had no idea what was going on. Their reply was that they were freezing my account, and that I needed to contact Apple and try and find out what was going on.
While I was going 'round and 'round with Apple, three more charges went through on my "frozen" account with Paypal. Meanwhile, Paypal support swore up and down that there was no way that someone could use a frozen account.
Finally, Apple found the old account, closed it, and refunded all of the purchases. Paypal never really lifted a finger to help me.

yeah!
Paypal is a good example of a company that has become too big to care. I've had dozens of problems with them, from bugs in their website, to bs big company politics. Unfortunately, in the end, where else are you gonna go?
Pay pal was a great site. You could look into Amazon Payments.
That sucks man PayPal should at least guarantee that the item gets returned to seller then refund the money. Best of luck
Sent From Galaxy Bigger Than Yours.
I had a paypal account suspended years ago when my sister in law, with the same name as me, screwed someone over on ebay. Same name, same TOWN, so they told me they considered it the same person.
I literally had to convince her to get a scan of her ID and mine to sort it, and it took weeks after the info was sent in.
Since then, I still use it, but I attach it to an account that I ONLY use for paypal and I never leave money in there for longer than I need to for a purchase.
In my experience paypal is all about supporting customers and just pushing aside sellers, which is proven by your case, they just always assume that the seller is some dodgy no code crook when often its the other way round
Yeah, horrible situation. How they can simply refund the purchaser's money without making sure that the seller gets the original item back is beyond ridiculous. Obviously it would take some capital but this would be a great time for someone else to step in and create a secure site.
Would it be possible to implement a system that acts as escrow, holding the buyer's funds electronically until the transaction is complete and only refunding the cost if the original item is first returned to the seller in case of dissatisfaction?
The escow style idea should be the way that it is. I have had to return an item bought via paypal and I was told in order for the seller to get the money back I needed to show proof of shipping with tracking. I had no problem with this, of course. I do know that the money was not pulled from me until I provided this.
I think paypal plays on a case by case basis for some crazy reason, because the stories that you read/hear about often have no real similarities.
I'm glad my dealings with PayPal have been limited to using them as an intermediary for credit card transactions with sketchy sellers (mostly eBay). I'm not giving anyone direct access to my bank account, especially with stories like these... jeeze.
I had many of good and bad experiences with paypal. They've rolled on me and gave my money back to a buyer. Luckily, I got the sold item back.
I had my identity stolen using paypal and they had my back like no other. It overdrew the associated bank acount by 2000 dollars, and not only was it all reimbursed, but they covered my overdraft fees and gave me 200 dollars for the inconvience. I also got the bank to waive the same overdraft fees and came out another 150 dollars ahead.
The cookie crumbles both ways.
Me and paypal are good.

Another reason:
Some weird buseniss took some money from account. So I asked paypal to but it back, they did. And then I had to do security check to see of my account was hacked. I had to sent a letter from my bank with adress etc. But I do everything only, so they say to send bill for electricity, but I dont get no bills, I live with my parents. I used paypal 2 years ago for the last time, I was a happy user, but know there are still 50 freaking euros I cant, get back

wow such horrible stories! seems like sometimes we really feel powerless against these big companies right ?
Yeah ik bro. There were multiple times when paypal would just refund the buyer's money and I would end up getting scammed even though the phones/tablets I was selling were perfectly functional. I soon realized after this happened to me twice that paypal is just a plain scam and I stopped selling stuff on ebay.

I tried to cancel my order but Google rep told me it had to be done within 60 minutes. It was nor really an issue because after I had bought a 16gig N7 at Sam's (saving about $20) the monet was not there for them to charge my account.
I called my bank and they told me there would be no nsf fee. No problems as far as I am concerned.

Steal N7? People have no morals or ethics. It's disgusting.
The Truth of the matter is Google specifically stated in their terms and conditions of sale that there were no cancellations. As you are unlikely to have cancelled by phone (because they wouldn't let you) you have probably just used the support web page and sent it in. That isn't valid, your order is still good.
Correct way to move forward now is to phone them and request a return which they have said they will do if you have not opened the package.
The important thing to realise is that right now you have the device you ordered. Google's card processing system is catching up. If you have not been charged you you will be soon.

I didn't think they're was a cancel online, I did mine by having them call me, and even the first rep didn't do that right.
Eventually I called back and a different rep said my request to cancel never happened even though the first rep days before said he did it.
Second rep did it again and sent it off to the appropriate people. 24-48 hours later, I received email confirmation including the order number, was cancelled.

In that case you have a good set of history to now request they come at their expense and pick it up and return your money (if charged).
It would be nicer if the delays were not 60 minutes ha as a result of the level of borkedness of this release! Good luck.
If it says it was cancelled, you will probably get a knock on the door from a UPS guy saying that you have a shipping request. You can either a) say no, keep the tablet, get charged or b) give it to him, wait 2 weeks, get a refund from google)
All you can do now is either return the package unopened to UPS (You have 5 days) or sell it on Ebay.

Thanks for the reply
I contacted google last night and they said that they would send a email regarding shipping however, this has still not arrived. I then proceeded to put a complaint against google for ignoring my request for cancellation of the goods.
I bought this tablet in the UK so regarding googles policy it really does not matter if they stated "no Cancellations" as this wanders into the realms of "goods law" and statutory rights of the buyer.
I have told a friend at work that I have one for sale or return she stated that she wanted it at the cost £170. Shame, though it would have been nice to make enough extra on top for a cheeky pint!
Also forgot to mention I have already purchased the 16 gig variant through HMV at 190 quid. Also TESCO are selling these at 190 with the order number/discount voucher thing of TDX-KPHM if anyone else is interested.
If this is UK and you were charged, send it back under DSR within 7 days and they must refund you.

Some hope for us Canadians re: ups refund

If you ordered your Nexus 7 from Google Play, you paid $19.99 for 2-day shipping.
But many (if not all) Canadian customers had whose Nexus went out this week had their packages shipped UPS Standard.
I sent e-mails yesterday and today, and didn't hear back, so I finally called tonight. I had to wait 25 minutes to speak to someone, but when I did, he was friendly and nice. Looked into it, said it was a fluke, and told me they'd issue a refund.
A $10.50 refund just appeared in my Google Wallet account. Not exactly what I'd been expecting, but I suppose it's better than nothing.
If your package was shipped UPS Standard, I recommend calling.
The above was from another web site that someone else posted.
I called the main Google number, 1-855-83NEXUS and spoke to the front line worker who stated he knew nothing about the switch to standard delivery but created a ticket and forwarded it on to the powers that be. This is the same route the other person had happen. I will update later if i also get the credit.
A partial refund of the $20 Canadian shipping isn't acceptable when they've shipped weeks late to Canada.

Basically they said they'd put a request for reimbursement and said i'd hear back with them in about a week.

That's exactly right the front line worker can not do anything, he passes it on to the specialist and they look at it. Once it has been determined that there was a shipping error you will receive an email from them.
Well I just called Google Play and he pretty much said that they are aware of the issue and instantly started the process to credit my account. Good thing I saw this thread - I admit I was a little perturbed that I didn't get my 2 day shipping but I was going to let it slide. Now I'll get a small refund.

Oh I doubt that they will retroactively go back and credit everyone....only for the people that actually call in and complain. So I definitely would place the call and request a refund of the difference. I had mentioned to the person that it shipped as UPS Standard and that I paid for 2 day (wasn't much of a choice when ordering) and he said that there was some glitch somewhere and started the refund process of the difference. Didn't have any issues.
I just called the hotline that OP posted and explained to them the same thing. They said they need to forward my issue to the "shipping team", and I'll get an e-mail in a few days with a final decision as to what they will do about my request for a refund (of the shipping).
money fully refunded

I just called the hotline that OP posted and explained to them the same thing. They said they need to forward my issue to the "shipping team", and I'll get an e-mail in a few days with a final decision as to what they will do about my request for a refund (of the shipping).

did you received any email after you ended your call that has the call reference number, your request for refund and the operator's name?

nope

So now I can cancel my order. I recieved an

an email from Google this morning asking if I meant to order 2 16gb Nexus 4s and if not I could now cancel my order. I guess Google had to re-jigger their cancel system because of all the inadvertent multiple orders, because when I tried to cancel one of the Nexii about 2 hours after ordering I was told I would have to refuse shipment in order to accomplish this. I was able to successfully cancel the extra phone without a problem. Weird.
I wish you hadn't cancelled it, I'm sure there are lots of people who'd be happy to buy off the accidentally purchased phones! I, for one, am one of those people.
I am sure you could find someone on here to buy the second one off you.
It's possible he doesn't have the money for 2.

My point exactly - I ordered 2 due to constant retries to get the order through and I will have to pay for them (Google already has a 'hold' on the funds from my credit card, even though they ain't shipped yet).
Luckily, the person I arrange to sell my second one to has already paid me.
Hello
We have several threads dedicated to shipping/orders, some are even dedicated to specific countries. Please use one of those for this type of discussion
