A GIANT thank you to @MJHawaii for helping me learn this process!!!

Thank you for this. This has been a very much needed update IMO. Your work is always appreciated here. Whether or not the odin image is rooted, it is an easy fix for sure. Once again thank you. And enjoy the fresh Lolli.

I specifically decided not to use a rooted image this time due to the fact that being rooted blew up the ota for me. I wanted a place to start from that was clean. I figure our first 5.x update was a good place to kick out a new, fresh baseline build.

You read the big red warning at the top of the post!

I9505 and I9505G isnt the same device?
Same way as I9505 ROM works in a I9505G, should happen otherwhise (or no?)

I just installed this and so far everything is working great. One small thing is confusing me though. I can't seem to find the settings for the Home button. When I push it nothing happens, unless I hold it down and then I get the app switcher. I feel really dumb right now. Lol

This is NOT A ROM. Doesn't it SAY that in the OP? Does it not also say that it will brick any device OTHER than an i9505G? They are NOT the same device. They use completely different partition tables. Rom devs take that into account. Since this is not a rom, it will not take that into account.

What rom are you coming from?

Latest Stock 4.4.4 Rooted (I think NF3 but can't tell since I can't start up )

Just installed this last night on my stock S4 GPE. Working flawlessly and the phone feels a lot snappier than with 4.4.4. Lollipop is such a nice update.
Not exactly a problem, but I notice that the stock Android Messenger (SMS/Text) app is gone and that it's now Hangouts that by default handles texts/SMS. I find no separate stock texting app installed, unlike on my Nexus 6 with Lollipop.

Try a different USB cable and./or USB port. See if that makes any difference.

People have been asking about root quite a bit. I put together a new tool for those that aren't sure how to install it on a phone like this.
DOWNLOADS:
GPE Root
https://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager (Use the i9505 NON touch version for rooting)
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
INSTALL:
o) Create a C:\GPE-Root folder
o) Unzip GPE-Root.zip to the C:\GPE-Root folder. NOTE: If you do not follow directions, then do NOT have spaces in the path you choose to use or it WILL fail.
o) Copy the CWM recovery img file to the C:\GPE-Root\recovery folder
o) Copy the SuperSU zip file to the C:\GPE-Root\supersu folder
USAGE:
o) Run the run.bat in the C:\GPE-Root folder
o) Follow instructions
NOTE: If your phone is not detected in ADB sideload mode, install the universal ADB diver in the C:\GPE-Root\ADB_USB folder

[ROM]EG01 - Factory STOCK ODIN Image - VZW LTE Tab 10.1

I have installed and tested this on my own Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE. Installed successfully with Odin3 1.85. Can also verify the standing root method for LTE devices with kernel.zip and recovery.zip works.
Onto the ROM

This is the STOCK VZW Galaxy Tab 10.1" 4G LTE Factory Firmware.
This includes everything,

You will need ODIN, and the drivers for your tab to flash this.
Instructions:
•Power down your tablet
•Then power up tablet by holding the power button and volume down (landscape view it will be the closest to the power button)
•Wait till you see the Samsung Galaxy logo and release power button
•You should be seeing a screen matching the one below (2 options recovery and ODIN)
•Click the volume up button (farthest from power in landscape) this will set you tablet in ODIN mode...
•Once your TAB is in ODIN (Downloading) Mode, connect it to your PC, you should see the COM port with a number in Yellow.
•Put the tar you downloaded (see link below) in the PDA slot. MAKE SURE THE ONLY THINGS THAT ARE CHECKED IS AUTO REBOOT and F.RESET TIME

I can verify that krylon360's files/method works. After breaking my recovery I found his posts and used his method to return to stock. I would actually suggest to ALL LTE owners to download those files and store somewhere safe if you intend to continue trying new ROMs/Kernels. After restoring the factory ROM I went on to Liquid Speed with an OC of 1.4.
Wouldn't have been possible without krylon360.
Just used this to set my Gtab back to stock. Worked like a charm.
Warning, don't be a dummy like me and forget to backup your titanium backup file, and factory cwr nand to your computer.
Gaurantee I won't forget to do that again. lol
This method worked for me as well. Got some kinds of rings on my screen after only having the tab for 2 weeks so had to revert to stock before shipping it back to sammysong.
Thanks! Files saved on laptop if ever needed again.

This is the prior version to EH04 (EG01). You'll be prompted after installation, that there is an update available which will bring you to EH04.

You might want to check out this thread regarding ODIN for mac. If you try it remember to have KIES for MAC installed first. That should give you the proper drivers... at least it does on Windows:

Good Luck.
I had bricked my Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE. I used the above method and revived it back to life.
Many thanks to ifiweresolucky for this fine fix. It saved me $700 for a new tablet!!
Thank you for this.. love you guys.
Would a kind person please, please dump a PIT file for the SCH-i905? If you can figure out which partition contains the PIT file, you should be able to dump it with something like this:
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p9 of=/sdcard/sch_i905.pit bs=4096
You might be able to view partitions by type with something like the following command:
Code:
ls -l /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/
My APP partition is 256MB and the EG01 system.bin is 312MB so I can not flash back to stock with Odin, fastboot or nvflash. No adb, no recovery, Heimdall does not work.
stuck
well i have used the file to go back to stock lots of times, but this time i cant get on vzw network also get cannot open sales code on boot up any idea whats up thanks in advance
This method saved me, THANK YOU OP!
Has anyone seen a stock ICS image for the VZW 10.1. This HC image is great for going back to original but it might be nice to ODIN a clean ICS.
Granted it only takes about 20 for HC to update to ICS but once or twice it took a few days to begin the update process.

I don't recall it ever taking 10 between any step. By now you've probably figured something out.

I had to put it down for a few days. I am at an impasse. Everything looks good, but it never reboots. I let it stay overnight, but woke up with a blank scree. When I manually reboot, it is stuck on the Samsung logo, which is the same symptom that initially brought me here.
Thank you. Your files and instructions worked perfectly.
To add to your instructions... not that there is anyone left... after restoring to factory default, to activate without an active SIM card:
1. Press top left corner of screen
2. Press top right corner of screen
3. Press bottom left corner of screen
4. Press bottom right corner of screen
5. Press volume button closest to the power button in landscape

Galaxy S I9000M - keep rebooting (software brick)

Hi,
I managed to brick my Samsung Galaxy S I9000M.
Was locked on Virgin network (Canada) and I was trying to root the phone and then unlock it.
But something didn;t work properly (or I made a mistake) and now the phone keeps rebooting. I can go into Download mode but nothing more.
This is what I did:
1) I installed Odin 1.85
2) I started ODIN as admin, I pressed on PDA and then I selected a zip folder called
"CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVO-v3.2-CWM3RFS"
3) This is what ODIN was showing:
<ID:0/003> Added!!
<ID:0/003> Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
<ID:0/003> SetupConnection..

<ID:0/003> RES OK !!
<ID:0/003> Completed..
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)
<ID:0/003> Removed!!
5) So after waiting 5-6 minutes (in this time the phone was rebooting up to the Samsung logo) I turned off the phone and I have tried to start the device. But is not starting anymore, it keeps rebooing.
Now I don't know what to do to fix it.I know that I made a big mistake, I was not supposed to do something without knowing what I'm doing...But now it's too late, I have to fix it.
Note: The phone was running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
if its in boot loop then look like it's only softwoer brick.
so if you can get in to download mode by 3 bouten combination greate you can try to reflash (I will try all so to redownloading the files)
if not than you must find a JIG or some one with a JIG to get in to download mode and reflash.
The version of CF-ROOT you selected is not compatible with the version of GB (UGKG3?) that was on your phone.
If your phone had UGKG3 installed, there are very few rooted kernels available for it.

Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Yes, I can go into download mode.
How can I reflash the phone ? Which kernel should I use ?
Sorry but I'm new in this.
If you give me some links that will be great.
I don't want to aggravate the situation .
If the OP has/had UGKG3 installed, I have found that to be the oddest ROM I have used to date on my phone.
It does a lot of things differently.
I made another post on here where I attached a basic rooted kernel for the UGKG3 ROM. Let me go find it and link to it.
Again, this is assuming it was UGKG3. Ma Bell has only released one GB ROM for the GT-i9000m, so I think it's a safe bet that's what the OP was running on his Virgin branded phone.
EDIT: Here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21655532&postcount=492
This will give you a basic rooted kernel, no CWM or anything else, just root.
You'll also need to download Superuser from the Market.
Thank you.
Now how should I install that kernel?
I suppose that after I reflash the phone it will start normally and then I can go to the Android market and install Superuser from there?
Is there a link with instructions (Step by Step guide)?
Sorry,but I dont have too much experience with this.
Thanks a lot!

Am I doing something wrong?
Also, I read somewhere that bootloader has to be unlocked for Odin to be able to flash recovery. Could that possibly be the issue and if
so how do I unlock the bootloader on this device?

Proceeded to flash with Odin, only to be met with failure.
Am I doing something wrong?
Also, I read somewhere that bootloader has to be unlocked for Odin to be able to flash recovery. Could that possibly be the issue and if
so how do I unlock the bootloader on this device?

Tablet then reboots directly to download mode. Unable to enter newly installed recovery, unable to shutdown.
Retried several times to same result.
Are you doing the right key combo to get to recovery? Restart tab, as soon as the 8.9 logo pops up, press and hold volume down (the one closer to the power button). When bootloader screen comes up press volume down one more time to select recovery, and volume up once to select. Sorry if this is obvious, just wanted to make sure.
Correct me if I'm wrong but power+vol down basically brings you to a screen where you're given a choice
between download mode (denoted by a blinking green Andy) and recovery mode (Andy coming out of a box).
I select recovery, tried all buttons, no response. The "icon" flashes for a moment when key is pressed but
nothing happens.
That's correct. It sounds like your bootlader might be borked. Unfortunately, idk how to flash a new one without a working recovery. Sorry.
You might be able to flash a bootloader.zip in odin as a pda. I have never tried this, and I have no idea if it will work, or if it will further break your tab.
Am I correct that you have a p7300? If it is a p7300 or a p7310, this is the right bootloader:

I read some replies about flashing this bootloader, and it seems like it works
but I noticed that @kallt_kaffe mentioned that you should flash the bootloader using the bootloader option instead of the PDA:

so I'am not sure but I think you should try to use the bootloader option first

Thanks for all the help I've gotten from both of you, I've managed to get CWM to work on my tab.
Now what? How exactly would I fix my problem using CWM from this point forward and what files would I need to do so?

Flashing the bootloader was the solution ???
I can think of two things
ether you should try to flash a stock Tar ROM by Odin
or you should transfer any flashable Zip ROM by USB adb connection and flash it through CWM

Actually I'm not sure whether it's the bootloader OR the fact that I switched to a laptop and a different USB from the one I was
using before.
That said, I have tried flashing the ROM you gave me the link to in mail. Didn't work. As before the installation completed only to be stuck at
the Samsung logo upon reboot.
How would I proceed with the flashable zip ROM USB adb thing with CWM? And what files would I need? Pardon my ignorance but I'm just
pretty new to all this.
You need to use cwm to flash a custom rom. There are several in the android development section. You need to download the rom.zip and gapps.zip from one of those threads, and put them on the internal storage of your tab. Hopefully, when you hook it up to a pc it will pop up as a media player or storage device, and you can just drag and drop them on there. If not, you may need to set up adb and push the files over to the tab.
Once you get the files on there, normally one would do a nandroid backup. In your case, without a working rom, I don't think that will be usefull. You need to wipe (format) system, data, cache, and dalvik, then install the rom.zip, then the gapps.zip.
I am having similar issues with my tab, flashed an official rom from sam mobile through odin, just hangs on the samsung boot screen. Could it be a boot loader issue?

Device doesn't register as a storage device. No idea how to push files over with ADB or even how I would access ADB with
the Samsung 8.9. Could someone take the trouble to give me some step-by-step idiot proof instruction I could follow?
Ok, sorry for being late, I was collecting information and doing some experiences
on my tab to get all the details you need
So, to transfer a file through adb USB connection while in recovery you should
Install ADB Drivers and use the ADBGUI to copy the files to the tab
First of all mount /sdcard from the mount and unmount section in CWM, connect your tab through USB cable while in CWM and then
when you open the ADBGUI tool it should automatically detect your tab and show you figures like number 1 in the screenshot:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If you see any figures in the same place, then your device is connected through adb
now open the Basic Commands tab (number 2)
Select File and browse it to the ROM.Zip you want to flash (number 3)
[it is recommended to be small file cuz you might need to do this more than once]
I use for this matter a Stripped CM9 (67MB) just to boot and then I transfer through normal USB any ROM I want
write (/sdcard) in (number 4) to guide the tool to put the file on the sdcard
click Push File (number 5) and wait for 2 - 6 minutes [it depends on the size of the file]
now the file should be on your sdcard
just flash it and reboot
I hope I am not exaggerating in this guide
Hey All,
Just managed to get mine to stock! . I was having the issue of it hanging on the Samsung Boot screen, but I managed to fix this by, flashing CWM through odin AFTER flashing the stock rom. Then entering CWM and doing a factory reset/wipe and wiping dalvik cache. Tablet booted perfectly into stock 4.04! Now just need to flash stock recovery and everything is back to stock

I created This Zip from the last Stock Framewok
you just need to flash it through CWM
Note: this is a stock kernel so you if you install it you won't be able to flash anything anymore
but you'll still be able to enter it and do wipe data and cache only
Enjoy
Thankyou!!! Ill flash it now and report back

There doesn't seem to be an option in CWM mount/storage for me to mount /sdcard. Options available for selection:
mount /efs
mount /system
unmount /cache
mount /data
mount /preload
format /system
format /data
format /preload
ADB Drivers and GUI installed though.

Odin is not working - trying to unroot in order to update

Hello. I would appreciate some help and will make this as straightforward as possible:
I rooted my AT&T S6 using the Pingpong application. The next day the 235Mb OTA became available to download. I try installing it, it fails. I unroot my device through superuser/pingpong, the update still fails. I factory reset my phone from the recovery, update still fails.
I understand ODIN must be used to reset the phone completely in order to be able to install the OTA.
I am using ODIN 3.10.6
I have tried multiple other ODIN versions.
I have enabled/disabled USB Debugging
I have tried multiple USB cables/ports
I have installed/uninstalled Kies
I have installed the newest drivers and restarted my computer multiple times
The TAR I am trying to install is named "G920AUCU1AOCE_CL4351102_QB4488924_REV02_user_low_ship.tar"
When I attempt to flash this TAR, I receive this LOG.

THIS WILL WIPE ALL DATA FROM YOUR PHONE, SO BACK IT UP 1ST.
1. Download the appropriate Tar from here.
2. Unzip it
3. You should have 4 files. Place each file into the appropriate slot in Odin.
4. Put phone into download mode
5. Connect phone to PC and wait for Odin to recognize the phone.
6. Click start, and wait for the process to finish, it should reboot your phone, and you'll need to go through setup again
7. You should then be able to get the OTA
4 files?
