[Q] Is it possible to switch lockscreen types with just an NFC chip? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I really prefer using the finger print scanner for my lock screen at work. The phone has a tendency of turning on in my pocket and doing stuff while in there. When I'm at home or out and about it's less of a worry. So can I switch it from finger print mode to a swipe unlock with just an NFC tag? If I have to swipe my finger after tapping the NFC tag to switch fingerprint mode off is fine.

You might check out gravity screen in the play store. It keeps the phone off in your pocket very reliably.

I think there was an xposed module that allowed you to change the lock screen. May be able to work something up where it changes depending on if you are at home or work. Sorry probably not the most helpful post.....

Clarification about the Smart Lock feature

Hello everyone!
Since the release of the Lollipop upgrade and the introduction of the Smart Lock feature, I've been regularly coming across with posts like these:
Smart lock doesn't work, it keeps asking for my finger print to unlock
Click to collapse
Its not working for me, when I wake up my phone, I have to swipe up to access my pin entry screen
Click to collapse
So I decided to create this thread in order to clarify how the lockscreen works when Smart Lock is enabled and a trusted device is connected.
Swiping from the little lock icon on the bottom of the screen, brings back your specified secure lockscreen. It is a way to secure your phone again, even if a trusted device or other set conditions for Smart Lock are met.
Swiping from anywhere else on the screen should unlock the phone without any security checks.
Check out this video I made to explain it a bit better:
Some people may think this is not an intuitive way, however, I personally find it quite useful to have the option to quickly secure my lockscreen without disconnecting a trusted device.
In any case, swiping from a starting point anywhere other than the small lock icon, will unlock the phone without any security checks.
I hope I helped.
Cheers!

Re-enable fingerprint lock?

Hi,
I'm trying to make a task that opens an app when an NFC tag is read. Basically when I play piano I have a phone stand on the piano and I use an app called guitar tabs to bring up chords for songs that I don't know overly well. So I stuck an NFC tag on the back of the stand so when I place my phone on the stand it'll automatically unlock my phone and launches the app. So far works great I'm using wanam xposed to allow NFC tags to be read even with screen off, phone unlocks itself and launches the app.
However I have fingerprint lock enabled with smart lock too which is set up with my Gear S2 as a trusted device. While I can get it to unlock fine using secure settings > pass/pin lock thing set to disable (just seems to bypass the lock screen this way) I can't get it to re-able the fingerprint lock. It just leaves it as swipe lock. While I'm running a note 4 with a note 5 rom on 5.1.1 the secure settings > custom rom > Samsung fingerprint lock doesn't seem to have an effect on the setting. Is there anyway I can automatically enable the finger print lock again?

Fingerprint Scanner: Lockscreen useless

With the fingerprint scanner's ultra fast response, entering the home screen is very quick. Thus, the lockscreen is rendered useless. Is there any way fingerprint scan opens the lock screen instead of the home screen just like how the iPhone implements it?
The fingerprint is for unlocking, so why showing the Lockscreen when you want to unlock. Just press the power button.
But I think it should be possible with Tasker, give it a try.
It should be useless, step back and one step more for unlocking -> loss of time.
I would like to have a option to double tap for waking the device. Just for checking notifications/time and not to press power button every damm time.
Is it possible?

Well in the lock screen, notifications are shown instantly, and looks cleaner; whereas in the home screen you have to swipe down from the status bar to access them. Apple have thought of it and so the iPhone 7 functions in this manner.
So what I'd like to see is: Fingerprint scan > double tap notification > app
Instead of: Fingerprint scan > swipe down from home screen> tap notification > app
An ability to switch to whichever sequence you want will be great.
Take a look at this.
As I already said, Tasker should be an option for your purpose.
My opinion is another than yours, I think it's very annoying what Apple did and my wife is always yelling at her iPhone because of this "feature".
I didn't have this on my previous i6s because I used to jailbreak and there was only iOS9.
The jailbreak issue was the reason for me why I leaves Apple for Huawei.
Now I have the original smart cover for my P10 and the most annoying thing of this cover is, that Huawei won't allow third party apps the access to the smart cover lockscreen, so they can display notification icons on it.
But when I want to turn on my screen I either lift the cover or, when it's already lifted, I push the power button. Even though I'm a leftie I think it's a good solution and works very well.

P10 fingerprint scanner

Hello to the community,
I have the following problem with my P10. When I am in an app and I touch the fingerprint scanner the phone goes to the launch screen (exit from the app). I think this happens after update b180. The fingerprint scanner works like the software circle button when I am in an app. How to deactivate that function?
Thank you!
I don't think you can turn it off. But I agree, it's annoying. Somebody thought it's super useful and they just had to put it there.
That happens after b180; in b151 didn't exist;
Nice. i actually want this behaviour. would prefer that i could use the fingerprint scanner "one button" option at the same time navigation bar is activated though.

Any gesture apps that mimics the Samsung S10e power/fingerprint button?

As mentioned in the title, does anyone know of any existing gesture applications that mimics the power/fingerprint reader button of the Samsung Galaxy S10e? specifically the swipe down to show the notification panel. I know the xz1c is not a large device and I can certainly reach the top edge one handed, however I think it's still nice to utilize the power button for this or other features.

you can try fingerprint scanner apps available on the play store, and use tasker shortcuts to achieve this. the fingerprint scanners are not always reliable though, and need to be removed from doze / battery optimization to work consistently
alternatively, if rooted you can try the Xposed Edge module. I swipe down the side edges of my device to pull the notification bar down, and it works very well
