Just got an OTA update for my active. Im on an unlocked s4 active in the uk.
Thought it was 4.3. The description said it was for Galaxy Gear support.
So still on 4.2.2. with a working gear. Im on the latest null rom too.
I wonder if other s4 variants or galaxy devices are getting this.

Yes I just got a 56 Mb update and suddenly my gear is working - Bottler beaut mate!!!! Its only because my phone came with a build from Yemen (Ebay grey) and half the apps were not in English, because the Oz version of the rom I downloaded did not cook properly I decided to download the SE Asia version and within minutes I had an update from 4.22 to 4.22 which I thought was strange but I decided to try and set up my gear again, call it a hunch but bingo I have a working gear that I can upload clocks and apps etc, talk about perfect timing I have just sold my Note 3 and though the gear would be stored for a few month because we in OZ are the bottom of the food chain for Samsung, and then with controlling telcos like Telstra it would be 6 months or more before we would have had an update .:laugh:
I use S4 mini dual sim i9192 and I got the compatibility in December last year...

Does anyone know when Gear VR is going to launch in india?
Also can anyone tell me if i purchase a Gear VR from US will it work with my indian Note 4?..

Hi Kris,
There is no launch date for any region outside the US though Aus and UK are rumoured to be Jan 2015.
To use GearVR you need a firmware update from Samsung. To check if you have it, download the Oculus mobile SDK and install one of the APKs. When you run one for the first time it will try to install the GearVR app. If that succeed you're good to go order from the US! If it tells you that you need an update then you're at the mercy of Samsung and/or your carrier depending on what version of the note4 you have and if it's network locked.

Actually the "create a nova activities shortcut of gear vr setup wizard" method works fine here with the indian note 4.it downloads and installs the oculus app which runs fine and i can see the market. Imo it should mean that gear vr ll work fine here.

Hi, I have a UK EE Samsung note 4 as well and really cant wait till UK Samsung decide to sell the gear VR. I installed the latest update Thursday. Has anyone tried a non US phone on the gear VR yet, I've been so close to ordering one off EBAY but still put back by having no warranty and if it will work or not.

super excited for its Indian launch but it's surely not coming December but probably January end if it's coming then we will get ota update around 2 weeks before so we can make it still time but yes I am excited and also patient rather than going to by any unofficial way

If you can run the Oculus home app and not get a warning popup about requiring an update you're ready to use the GearVR.
Exynos handset owners are screwed at minute and receiving no support or communication from Samsung or Oculus.

Oculus Gear vr works in India
If you have a Note 4 (Snapdragon SM-910G) in India. You are good to go ahead and run the Oculus that is available in USA or elsewhere.
I got mine yesterday and it works. This is an awesome product..
Gear vr support is not in the stock Indian kernel. You have to run a customer kernel for it to function

Its too late to keep hoping for gear VR official launch in INDIA for note 4 (SM-N910G) . I don't think they value much of indian users to give any official release. One of the factors I went for note 4 was Gear VR..however the SM-N910G has recently been upgraded to lollipop officially..I am here to know if we order or ship VR to india from outside like US or UK..will it be compatible with indian note 4...anybody has any confirmation about it should I go for one...
Any help relating to this issue is appreciated

Hi There,
I just received my Samsung Edge+ (Dual Sim) from HK. Gear VR has officially launched in Singapore and I purchased it on day 1. But I did not know that both Gear VR & handset has to be purchased in the same country else it will not be compatible. Can anyone help on how I can fix this? I am scared to use a custom ROM from Singapore as my dual Sim may not work.
For those wondering why I purchased my phone from HK is because Samsung does not launch dual Sim flagship phones here in SG.
Any help will be much appreciated.
My note 5 is from the middle east and my headset is a British one from Samsung, these work perfectly together.

I am using dual sim note 5 and using Singapore Gear VR (from qoo10) ... working fine for me.

Just wondering if the Note 4 N910C running on the latest Marshmallow firmware would be compatible with the Gear VR? As I am very interested in getting a Gear VR for my N910C. I've read online that the N910C originally wasn't supported for use on the Gear VR when running on KitKat but some people have said that it will run on the latest Marshmallow firmware.
