Motorola ID can't connect - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Anyone else experience issues with motorola Id not connecting? I tried to clear the data on some of the moto apps and no luck, it immediately goes to this "unable to connect" as if it didn't even try to.

Same issue here. Are you using it on T-Mobile by any chance or are you on Verizon. Either way its very annoying

T-Mobile. Though I can't imagine that would be an issue.

I don't imagine it would be either but on T-Mobile and having the same issue

What happens if it dosn't connect? I was thinking of removing it altogether, I'm pretty sure it in no way exists for my benefit.

Krab, the issue is that I want to use connect, it's the only way to use the stock watch faces on my moto 360 and be able to customize the stock ones. Connect also allows you to reply to text messages from your computer on chrome through the extension.

Ok, so it does have a use then, thanks. I think I'm going to freeze it and see what happens if anything, I don't use chrome nor have any wear devices.

Ya its annoying to say the least but I'm going to activate it on Verizon prepaid when the kit gets here for it and do a factory reset to see if that's the issue. I'll go back to T-Mobile after I get a fix for it

I have the og sim from vzw, which you gave me an idea. I wonder if it'll work if I use that and wifi to activate connect then put the tmobile sim back in
Update : no luck, I'm beginning to think it's not the network as why would an app that is universal be network dependent? It uses the same motorola id, which logs in fine on my moto g and connect logs in fine on my moto g too.

That's a bummer. Ya it works fine on my moto x and my wife's moto x and my aunts moto g. Shame it won't connect...

The other thing I don't understand is, connect is used for the moto 360 as well, so it'll work on the G, but the G doesn't support the chrome extension. Which at the least it should work for the turbo...

I troubleshooted with moto care today and they had me register my device on the site and then wait a bit before attempting to reconnect it. I'll report back if it works

Got mine to connect. Did a factory reset and activated the phone on a Verizon Sim and after it connected switched my T-Mobile Sim back in and I'm in business

I've been having the same issue. By chance are any of you using 2-factor authentication on your google account?

Yes. Though I'm already logged in on my phone so it shouldn't request for 2 step. My moto g doesn't.

That's bs that it would need a vzw sim to start, and I'm not going to get a prepaid from vzw just for that...I'm getting a maxx anyways f it.

Ya I agree but it is a Verizon phone intended for Verizon. You could always get a friends Sim. That's what I did anyways. Best of you luck to you!

Can I use wifi prior to activation?

I will be receiving my unlocked Moto X (I think it will be an XT1058) on Monday but will probably not activate it for a week or so. Can I connect to wifi before I activate it with a carrier? On my Droids and Razrs there was a trick to bypassing the activation screen and connect to wifi. Since the Moto X is unlocked, I'm hoping this isn't required.

you shouldnt need to but worse case you throw in any old sim card to get past the activation then take it out.
but like i said you should not have any issues using it as a wifi phone for now
It also depends on the provider, many versions have no activation screen. I have updated and installed paid apps before ever putting a sim in a Moto X(Rogers XT1058).

i know my sprint one did not, so i think he will be ok. but then again i have never had a phone i could not use as a wifi phone.
If there is some type of set up screen, tapping each of the for corners of the screen, clockwise I believe, should get you past it.

I got my GSM unlocked one before I could activate it on T-Mobile. So for a week it was WiFi only. Got it all set up which was nice.

2014 Verizon Moto x on Straight Talk / ATT..How Is It?

I'm thinking about buying a 2014 Verizon Model Moto X and using it on Straight/ATT.
I know it wouldn't get LTE. But I think it will still make calls, text and get hspa, but I'm not 100% sure.
So my question is have anyone else been using their Vzw Moto X on Straight Talk / ATT and if so, how has it been...service wise?
Just curious why not get a Pure edition? I used pure on St att, LTE, everything worked perfectly.

Because the person is selling it to me for $280.
But after I opened this thread, I texted the individual and told them that not only was I gonna call Verizon to verify the phone isn't blacklisted etc, I was also gonna pop my sim into the phone to make sure it actually works with ST.
I checked the imei of a Sprint iPhone 6 last week on Swappa and it came back clean and ready for activation. However when I contacted Sprint (which I did twice for the same phone) they told me the phone was reported stolen. So I don't go by what Swappa results are anymore.
But anyways, he refused to let me put my sim in...and all of a sudden said he had another buyer...smh
Wow yeah steer clear of shady sellers. Remember you can get student discount for Pure.

Yup...I know. It's just that I'm in the process if moving and I thought that was a good deal. But when something is to good to be true, something is most likely shady...

Sim from another country in sprint N6

Looking for some general imput, i recieved my N6 right before deployment, i have purchased a wifi device that runs off a sim card the company is "ooredoo" (kuwait) my account says i have a phone number and all that jazz. Now sense the n6 has all the radios for the u.s carriers, can i just pop the sim into the n6 and have it work? Even with being purchased from sprint? I dont want to throw it in and cause any issues..(wifi device battery blows, and always seems to die when i try to talk to the wife) also, not rooted at the moment, dont have computer access to download stuff, 5.0.1. Any imput would be great! Thanks fellas.
should work. but you posted in the wrong place. you shoukd have posted your thread in the q&a section.
Whoops.. My bad lol. Hopefully it works!

Yep just pop it in.
Gave my brother my sprint nexus 6 that i had on att to him and he is in mexico and its working fine.
Gonna pop it in now and see how she responds.
What WiFi device do you have? If you are referring to a WiFi hotspot I don't know if you would be able to use voice or not.
If you purchased the n6 from sprint for full retail price, you should be able to pop any sim provisioned for voice and data from kuwait in it and it should work. If you are on contract with sprint, you might have to talk the "sim unlock code" out of them. It shouldn't be too difficult given your circumstances. Sim unlocking doesn't require a computer though, so don't worry about that.
As for causing issues, as long as you don't try to use a camel spider as a sim card, you shouldn't have any issues. Worst that happens is the phone just doesn't detect the sim (in the case of a bad sim card) or either voice or data won't work if not provisioned correctly.
Very useful information. What would require me to have to get the Sim unlock number? Turns out the Sim is too big.. Might break down and cut it after I watch a few YouTube vids. Yes the card is set up for data and voice, but I don't have a plan for voice, just data, which is fine cause I've been using hangouts sense I left the u.s the WiFi device is made by huawei, little oval shaped white mobile hot spot.
Thanks for the imput yall. Works like a charm!

I cut mine down it's pretty easy. I didn't even do the best job, and it works fine

question.

I have a Nexus 6 I bought from a 3rd party. Its a TMo variant so its Sim unlocked and whatnot. When I put my VZW Sim in I get LTE and such. I can't call nor send texts messages from said device. From what I get from threads on here I should request a new Sim card and stuff from VZW but if that doesn't work how would I go about fixing this issue. I mean I've already tried the whole calling the Verizon and having them elevate the case but that doesn't do anything. Eh. I mean I still have my M8 so I've been using that but it seems like this phone just doesn't want to work on VZW.
Are there any special things I should do to my phone to make it work. Or any special APNs I should use
Thanks
-ElChibo
Please could you describe your question in the thread title? Maybe something a bit more descriptive like "using Verizon sim in TMO N6 - no calls or sms"? That way you will target the people who may know the answer whilst saving people who don't the time spent on reading the thread?
Thanks for your consideration
The phone is going to be blocked via the IMEI.
I don't see it happening on Verizon. Maybe after they roll out the Nexus on their network we would know more.

This surprises me maybe Verizon has decided to stop being such douchebags.

The N6 is carrier unlocked except the AT&T version and that's easily remedied, it's got to be APN related. Try a ROM that includes all of the Verizon APN's like Chroma and see if that helps.
If you have a SIM that was already activated then there probably won't be a problem -- it should work fine in any N6 (except I hear the AT&T is network locked).

[Q] Unlocked At&t Moto X not connecting to new carrier

I sent my At&t Moto X 2014 to get unlocked and when I received it and was told that it was unlocked, I took it to T-Mobile to get a SIM card to finally use it and it didn't want to connect to the carrier. It keeps saying to try again at a later time but the T-Mobile representative says that it may not have been unlocked right. Does anyone know what I can do or if it has happened to anyone else?

Ive never heard of sending a phone somewhere to be unlocked. Generally you either request an unlock code from your carrier or buy one from one of the many sim unlocking websites out there.
Have you contacted the place you sent your phone? That should be your first step. How much did it cost?

It was a cell phone store that usually repairs phones or unlocks them and so on, unfortunately I got out of T-Mobile too late to go back to the phone place. It cost $45 to unlock, and by seeing all these threads, I can already tell I overpaid.

Ouch! That's extortion! Unlock codes are usually around $5 from a third party site, or if the phone is off contract your carrier will give you the code for free. All you do is put in the new sim, type the code in the dialer and you're done. $45 for that is ridiculous. You definitely overpaid, sorry to say.
I saw in the other thread that some people had luck when they created a new APN. Have you tried that?

Yeah, I saw that, it was just my first time unlocking a phone and a friend had previously told me he got his unlocked there so I went there too. Never again, though. I did create a new APN and it connected to T-Mobile briefly for like 2 seconds before saying it had no service again. Now it doesn't connect at all. I don't think it has to do with it being unlocked wrong since other people have had the same problem. It definitely has something to do with the APN, I believe.
I had this problem and moto replaced my device. I still get disconnected from the new device but it's a lot better than the old one. I believe it's hardware issue. I'll have to call them again.

There is another thread in the "Moto X General" forum about this. Its a widely seen problem on ATT moto x which is unlocked and updated to lollipop. Jump to page# 36 in that thread and there is a temporary fix for this problem.
