[SOLVED] P880 soft bricked recovery, & no computer to flash... What to do? - LG Optimus 4X HD

I recently acquired an LG P880. It's a neat little phone that can even be flashed with KitKat.
I was looking to flash a Cyanogen nightly over it,which reportedly ran amazingly.
I tried to do this from the old TWRP that it came with. It was version 2.20 I believe.
I kept running into an error, which a quick Google search revealed was due to an old version of TWRP. Because I don't have a computer handy, I couldn't flash TWRP over via PC. So I opted to flash over PhilZ Recovery. (philz_touch_6.48.4-p880.zip)
I flashed this from the old TWRP. Soft bricking the phone.
The recovery is totally busted. Even though it said that it flashed successfully and suggested I reboot the phone.
When I go into PhilZ recovery when I click or touch something or select any action the screen only flashes for an instant and sometimes I get the error repeatedly: "Aroma file manager not found - clockworkmod/aroma/aroma.zip not found"
I can't select anything. The only thing I can do is reboot. Not a single option works at all.
So basically my recovery is bricked. I also have no operating system on the phone so I can't reflash recovery that way. I won't have a computer for 2 months either (I'm travelling the world) so is there ANYTHING I can do with just this phone and another phone to reflash the recovery of at least put an OS on the phone or something?
Does anyone have any ideas? I am currently in the process of uploading a video detailing the problem.

Check an app called flashify, you can flash recovery with it in ROM. So download whatever recovery you want for our phone and flash it in. I hope this will resolve you problems, ofc you have to be rooted

If your recovery is broken in the way you say it, there is nothing you can do without a PC.Just go to a cybercafe and restore to stock ROM using lg mobile support tool.Won't take any longer than 1 hour (with downloading etc. included)

Hi thanks for your suggestion but I think you missed the part where I don't have an operating system on the phone.
The phone has a broken/bricked recovery and no OS. So when I turn I on normally it just boot loops because it has nothing installed. So I don't have a way to do that either.
I was hoping for something like pushing an auto execute script to SD card that flashes the recovery the moment the SD card is mounted or something...

So I made some progress.
I can access a terminal emulator in PhilZ recovery and the Aroma File Manager. But I can't install a .zip from either of them And when I try and run 'su' I get permission denied (obviously not rooted). Same when I run 'adb'. Which is weird because I can make new folders and move files to the root folder '/' in aroma. I just can't do that via terminal emulator :/ =(I was thinking about installing a recovery.img via that, which was pushed to the /sdcard)
There's an' install' command available but I don't think that will help. It seems for some reason the recovery hasn't got the correct screen resolution for my phone. Everything is squished and I have to tap on blank parts of the screen where apparently the keyboard is, but in actuality it's showed far above squashed into the side of the screen...
So, so far all I have is a terminal emulator (with no root) and a file manager with root (supposedly).

You need pc for that, try fastboot method if that possible in your case.

Ok so if I can somehow get access to a computer. How do I go about doing this?
I want the latest cyanogen nightly on the P880. (I have 16/12 which is good enough). Also I obviously need a custom recovery. So if PhilZ doesn't work. Maybe TWRP?
What divers and etc do I have to worry about if I only have an hour? I'd rather download the files on my phone and just quickly use them when I get the chance on a PC.
Does anyone know the flashing process for LG? (I only have had Samsung phones in the past)
The bottom guide on this: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/240 states that the phone needs to be in 'Debugging Mode' but I don't have an OS on the phone to put it in debugging mode...
So I guess I need a computer too that I have access to cmd.exe
That's not going to be easy where I am... Most places (if I can even find one) will probably have that disabled to users.

Search for FASTBOOT method on forum or with google to flash recovery, i use cwm recovery and i suggest you to install cwm.
I will sent you pm where to download cwm recovery file for LGP880.
And than it will be easy to install os. First do that and we will see.
You need ADB drivers for pc, you need LGP880 driver from official website.

@leijonasisu
I'm gonna help you out only because you have limited access to PC.
Download LG mobile support tool http://lg-support-tool.en.lo4d.com/ install usb driver of 4x hd with phone not being plugged into PC
Click options > "restore from update error (best translation I Can come up with) and wait till it's done
Root your phone (I think I used this to root before http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230934 ONLY ROOT DONT DO ANYTHING ELSE)
I'm using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481929 adam's twrp recovery even though I don't use multirom it's installation etc. is simple imo.
Download flashify from play store and flash the ".img" file (TWRP).
Wipe dalvik cache, cache, data, system and flash the CM nightly.
If you want to thank me for this post, do it by helping other people out.

Thanks for the replies. I've added thanks. Unfortunately the only access I can get to a computer currently is an iMac without Admin privileges. Any attempt to install anything or install 'adb' or reboot into 'fastboot' requires a password which I don't have.
Life seems to be laughing at me.

I got access to a computer and followed the LG Mobile Support Tool steps. But I keep getting this error:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The phone is in S/W Upgrade mode. Connected via USB and I have tried multiple USB ports.
I installed the drivers from the LG support site for the P880. It finds the phone, but can't verify what it is. So I put the IMEI number (or mode and #SN) in and it goes to check Windows version and conflicting programs and then gives that error.
Is there some other way I can flash this thing with a new Firmware, or at least a new Recovery?
Also the phone seems to have that yellow triangle next to something called "APX" and when that APX is in Device Manager the screen is just black (Not S/W Mode)
Also if I try and turn the phone on normally (where the charging battery comes up) there's a device "Android" that pops up for a second with another yellow triangle in Device Manager.
So it seems that the Fastboot driver or something isn't installed?
Guys can you please help me out. I only have access to this computer for 3 days
I also haven't been able to find the device with 'adb devices' from CMD prompt. I don't think the ADB driver is installed or something and I can't find it to do 'adb reboot oem-unlock' :/
P.S. My Bootloader IS Unlocked.

Follow thsi tutorial,

Good Luck

Hi there, thanks so much for your reply.
When I try do follow that tutorial I get this error:
I've tried:
1. These drivers (and other kinds):
2. Different USB cables
3. Different USB ports.
4. Modem disabled, and then modem enabled in Device Manager
5. Rebooting
6. Laptop has latest updates, MSXL, NET Framework etc. etc. etc.
Nothing sees to be working. It cannot find my phone.. I guess it is a driver issue or something because when the phone is in S/W mode it simply cannot be detected by the flashing programs.
When I install those drivers. 3 devices pop up. They all install without any problems, but for some reason those programs still can't see this phone.
This is getting ridiculous. What am I missing here?
P.S. Before you ask, I have been googling around before asking here. Maybe these problems seem small and easily fixable to some of you but to be honest they are wasting my days away, nothing seems to be working and my girlfriend is getting furious at me.
I only have 2 days left with a computer until I am without one again for over a month...

I just saw on xda that someone had simillar problem to yours and the problem was in pc...
And another solution is
I was found this on net.
"Often you may require an update for the OS in your pc. Check windows update for a google fastboot update. I had the same issue and after installing the update it worked fine - I'm running win 7 ultimate. Also disable both LG modem drivers in your device manager so it will pick up the phone itself rather than see it as a modem accessory. "

Easiest would be to try on different computer, I have same problems on laptop, so I have to use family PC for thins like that. Just install drivers on it run kdz flashing and that is it

Thanks for both of your replies. I have one other computer I can try here for this last day, I will try that. It's a PC.
I'll install the latest drivers for the P880 from the LG support site, then disable any 'modem' stuff in Device Manager and try flashing the .kdz again.
I can't believe this has been so much trouble.. It is true that currently I am trying to do this on a laptop, perhaps a PC is what I need.
This laptop has Windows 8.1 and the PC has Windows 7. Perhaps that will make the difference I need.
Fingers, toes and everything else crossed and deep breaths.

Success finally!!!!!
SUCCESS!!!!
First I installed the latest drivers for the P880 like I said I would. (With phone unplugged)
I used an i7 Windows 7 Ultimate PC with latest updates.
Here are the devices that were installed:
And in Device Manager:
(I disabled the Modem one and then rebooted before flashing)
This flashing program did NOT work:
(note the .kdz file I used to flash for reference (it works))
So I tried this flashing program:
(note the options I selected etc. and EMERGENCY MODE)
WARNING!! IT WILL POP UP WITH AN ERROR SAYING #SERVER NOT FOUND# (this error window was hidden on the left side of the image/screen)
YOU MUST NOT CLICK 'OK' OR THE FLASHING WILL STOP. IT IS STILL ACTUALLY FLASHING IN THE BACKGROUND
Waaaaiitt...
When the process stops, the program crashes (as shown in above picture)
BUT SUCCESS!!! THE PHONE IS REBOOTED AND FLASHED TO STOCK!!
(my friend's camera sucks)
Now I just root with Towelroot or whatever.
Install flashify and then install CWM and then I flash over to Cyanogen 4.4 Nightly!
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
Looks like I just needed a PC running Win 7.
P.S. Feel free to use this method in guides or whatever to fix your phone.
Thanks again <3

[Guide] How to update/change the ROM

Modified from my instructions posted in the wiki.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Omnia_7#Updating.2FChanging_the_ROM
Updating/Changing the ROM
Before continuing with any of the following processes, you should note that (at present) there is no way to back up your user data. Things such as your contacts and emails can be re-downloaded from your phone since they are stored on remote servers. Multimedia items which have been synced with Zune to your PC can also manually be transferred back to your phone. However, things such as personalisation settings, SMS and MMS are lost. Programs can, of course, be re-downloaded from the Marktetplace - but this, again, is a manual process.
This process may also help your recover a "bricked"device - or rather one which does not successfully boot up into Windows Phone fully.
Hard Reset / Full Format
You may wish to hard reset the phone if you are experiencing software errors which are not fixed after a soft reset (pulling the battery out) or if you wish to clear the phone (i.e. you've just bought the phone second hand or are selling the phone).
To hard Reset your Omnia 7 without booting into Windows Phone 7, you have to:
Turn off the phone.
Turn on the phone, holding the Power + Volume DOWN + Camera buttons
Hit home button (Start) twice to begin.
Update/Change the ROM
Disclaimer:You should note that this process may void your warranty! Neither I nor xda will be held responsible for any damage caused, or refusal of warranty, by following this guide.
Before you can update your ROM you'll need to see if you can access the phone's Download Mode.
Accessing Download Mode
To update your ROM software, you will need to be able to access the phone's download mode.
Turn off the phone
Turn on the phone, holding down the Power + Volume UP + Camera buttons simultaneously.
When the phone turns on, release the power button.
A yellow triangle with an exclamation mark and a "download mode” message should appear.
If you are successful in this then you can continue with the flash. If you are unable to access download mode, then your phone has a faulty(?) bootloader. Follow the instructions in this forum post.
Download your ROM and flash tools
To flash the new ROM you will need:
Your new ROM.
There are currently three ROMs available though the only difference is their locale (which you can change later in the settings). The 8700XXJK1 ## 2010 November CSC_Cetus_Europe_I8700XENJK1 can be found here. The ROM package is compressed in .rar format, the password is samfirmware.com
Edit: A nice sticky thread now exists with loads of ROMs available here
Samsung Mobile USB Drivers v5.2
Can be found here
Samsung WP7 Flash Program
Can be found here
Now we're ready to flash!
Turn off your phone and disconnect it from the PC
Unrar the downloaded ROM package and install the Samsung USB drivers
Boot the phone into download mode (or insert your jig)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now connect the phone to your PC. Windows should recognise your device and install the drivers (it may check Windows Update first, you can either skip this or just let it be).
Open the WP7 flash program. If you are prompted with an md5 error, don't worry! You should see now an Active COM port (green) in the program.
Drag and drop the ROM files (all four) into the program, a small box will pop up and check the files. It will disappear.
Click start and the flash process begins!
DO NOT interrupt this process. Keep the phone and PC connected throughout. After 10-15mins the phone will reboot and you'll have your fresh new ROM.
Some things to note:
Between steps 7 and 8 everything should go automatically.
After the phone reboots for the fist time, a screen with a phone and a computer with an arrow and a red cross over the arrow will appear - this is OK!
There may be some delay between the phone asking for its new configuration settings and the flash program saying the flash is complete (a progress bar states it is still "Rebuilding"). It may be wise to just allow that progress bar to complete before inserting the new settings.
Depending upon what ROM you flash, you will find that your language and locale are probably not correct. You will need to change these in "Settings" for things such as Marketplace to work correctly.
If the Flash program does not recognise your device, try a different USB port. If that still doesn't work, try starting the program first and then plug in your phone.

Very good and very detailed... super job dude!
One quick question if i may... the screenshots show Vista OS i believe? Any idea if this will work on XP at all?
Thanks in advance
Yep, I think it works on Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP3, Vista and 7 - though I've only tested it on Win 7.
Let us know, if it doesn't!

i cant seem to extract the file. its failing

Thanks for the guide !

Flashing the ROM always seemed quite complicated to me. But after going thorugh the guide and flashing my phone successfully I have to say it actually quite easy.
Thanks for the guide.
Flashing is quick and easy with this guide, very n00b friendly.

Yeah that's strange but I used to have the same problem when flashing ROMs to my HTC HD2, some of the USB ports worked and some didn't.
Glad you managed to fix it though!

had the same issue...
- first i had to use jig for downloadmode (with the 3 button "trick" i got only the restore thing)
- i plugged the phone to computer...nothing happens (driver was installed before and i have rebooted)
- i unplugged the phone and used another usb port
-> driver where installed, i thought all is fine
- i started "WP7 flash program" but the program didnt see the phone, i checked device manager and all looked fine
- i unplugged the phone and plugged it in at the usb port i used first (when the phone was in restore mode)
- wp7 flash program found my phone
- flashed and all was fine
btw had a t-mobile (de) branded one and didnt get the 7008 update...now i have it in no time
€dith
i think marketplace and zune (on the phone) are now much more stable#
@dith 2:
marketplace ist much much much more stable compared to my original image and i had bad lags, now...no lags.
I dont know if the 7008 update makes this all or just the new firmware
EDIT. It works!

Download Mode
When I try to put my Omnia 7 into download mode using the 3 buttons I get a screen showing a phone to the left with a zig zag arrow to a laptop on the right. Is this an alternative download mode screen or is it the "bad" downloader??

[Q] USB doesn't recognize download mode. Stuck after installing speedmod kernel

I had rooted my phone previously running 2.1 and yesterday decided to try cm7. (I've flashed many G1 roms but none for Captivate)
Sorry this is quite long but wanted to give as much detail as possible
I was reading and watching the guides. Installed rom manager and flashed ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.1.0
Rebooted the phone and tried to see if I can get into download mode by holding vol up + down and plugging the USB cable.
Once it booted tried to copy some other roms (zips) to the phone but the USB wasn't working on windows for some reason so rebooted in Linux. Phone mounted at first (for about a minute) but something happen and I lost the mount. I unplugged/plugged the usb cable but wasn't able see the phone as a drive even with fdisk.
So I ftped to the phone:
3buttonFix.zip
captivate-efsbackup.zip
cm7-captivate-initial-20110304.zip
speedmod-kernel-i897-k13c-500hz-CWM.zip
Installed 3buttonFix.zip (should let me enter download mode) from recovery, rebooted but still couldn't get in download mode.
Installed speedmod-kernel-i897-k13c-500hz-CWM.zip from recovery. Not sure if I had to do anything special like reformat the filesystem with the new kernel?
After reboot the phone gets stuck on Galaxy S sgh-i897 screen. Got back in recovery and installed captivate-efsbackup.zip and cm7-captivate-initial-20110304.zip
The cm7-captivate-initial-20110304.zip fails when trying to write the modem
'assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/modem.bin", "radio")'
I plugged the phone into another computer at that point and was able to get into "Download mode" for the first time. Odin didn't recognize the phone though. Download mode is very flaky. It starts sometimes, sometimes it doesn't (battery charger starts) even on the same port with the same cable. I have tried installing captivate drivers and/or kies on 7 different systems (5 laptops 2 desktops) but Odin never recognizes the phone and windows trows out a "USB Device Not Recognized" msg
I think my usb is not working properly but the guides how to recover assume working Download mode with Odin. Any suggestions on what to do for that? Or I guess I can download a different rom and/or kernel on my sdcard than mount the sdcard through recovery and install that way?
Any advise is appreciated as I'm not very familiar with the kernel and rom differences for captivate
Well you messed up on the instructions but that is a separate point.
I went through your post quickly so if I am saying something you grave tried I apologize
What drivers are you installing
Have you tried multiple ports
Are you using oem cord
Have you restarted your computer
Have you ever used odin before
CM7
I have used the following drivers:
SGH-i897_Captivate_USB_Drivers_5_02_0_2.zip
SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_x86.exe (just the usb modem driver)
2 different versions of samsung kies which include usb drivers (don't have the software versions handy but I can get them if that will help)
Ports:
Multiple computer and multiple ports. Will try few more options
Cables:
Used 3 different usb cables. 1 of them is from a BB phone. 1 of the other 2 is the one which came with the captivate (not 100% sure though)
Reboots:
4 of the 7 computers I tried on were rebooted. One version of kies requires this anyhow.
Odin:
Haven't used Odin at all. I think when the phone gets connected and odin recognizes it one of the top left blocks changes color right ? I tried to flash even when it didn't (just to make sure I wasn't missing something) and saw 0 successful / 0 failed
Do you have android sdk installed on any of the computers?
CM7
So many red flags that something wasn't right with your phone and you still tried to flash it? I just don't get it.
@Miami_Son: Yeah but i'm too thick headed - living dangerously but yeah you're right.
@mcord11758: I have android sdk installed on my linux build at home. I'll put it on a windows system at work and see if it can see the phone. Anything in particular I should do / look out for ?
At least you've got a good attitude.
I think if you have kies installed it conflicts with the samsung drivers odin uses. Try uninstalling them and flash odin.

Try this first
Sdk to install updated drivers if this fails
CM7
I've done almost the exact same thing...having the same issues. Phone would not connect to computer. Other captivates connect fine. The phone is now stuck on a boot screen and I can put it into download mode but Odin or the computer will not detect it at all. I don't think I can get into recovery mode, nor can I get into a rom...pretty much just download mode or a boot screen.
@1tontomato: Tried uninstall kies, reboot, install samsung usb drivers, reboot still don't see the phone connected in odin
@mcord11758 The sdk is trying to download the repository directly and I'm behidn a proxy server at work. I'll update tonight, it will be most likely very late by the time I get home.
@kwhee07 Yeah sux to see a download mode but not being able to download. I can get at least into recovery so I guess I can at least flash something that way. The ports really make difference, I've seen many would just charge the phone and some will get your phone into download mode at least. Try a different pc and cable if you can.
I have the sdk...I've tried about everything else I can find. Is there a possible method of fixing this via the SDK? I feel like if I could make the computer force [odins] data out the usb port, it would work, the phone would be in download mode awaiting data....but I cant get odin to see it
There is a package you can install in sdk for usb drivers. Dl it
Open odin
Get into dl mode
Unknown device pops up
Click on it
choose custom drivers
Navigate to c drive/program files/android/extras/google add ons/usb click ok (the path may be slightly different) the computer should try to install the correct drivers
If it works odin should now recognize your device. If not I got nothing
CM7
Got the USB drivers from the SDK and tried to force them when it sees an unknown device, but I get "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware"
I tried to force it to use the samsung drivers also but without success.
Is it possible to just download a rom or kernel and update my current state? So that the phone at least boots. I can install stuff through recovery. Download mode is nice and everything but I'm giving up on it, don't have any more ideas to try
I have been trying to see data on my sdcard from ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.1.0 I go to
Mounts and Storage -> mount /mnt/sdcard
Install *.zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard
I don't see /mnt at all I try and go under sd/ but it says No files found.

Under mounts and storage do you see the option for mount usb this might be able to force your computer to see it as a removable drive. If out does you should be able to copy another rom to the sd and flash. This may or may not work for you because you might still need to repartition which you only do with odin. Take this advise with extreme caution I really think you need odin If you do decide to flash another rom, use cognition because Dg's includes the fixed boot.bin. Probably because so many people use the one click and kill their button combos and don't know it. Other devs don't include it in their roms, because it's dangerous to over write something that doesn't need to be overwritten. Good luck
Sent from my Fusion 1.8 SAMSUNG-SGH-I897
I tried already the usb mount option from recovery at home and now at work also on few different systems/ports including a linux machine. I don't see the drive connected.
My only option left is to get somehow the sdcard mounted and install a rom from there. Or maybe just repartitioning/changing the filesystem might fix the getting stuck problem.
I ended up bringing my phone back to att, and they said that the 1010 batch was under product advisory..they exchanged my phone with almost no questions asked.
Now i have a 1008 and am running CM7
Finishing up the story in case it might help somebody in the feature.
I called AT&T to get my phone replaced and it turns out it has liquid dmg. There's a little white sticky that turns red when there's liquid dmg. Mine was pink but wasn't wait so no warranty for me. Turns out most of the time people get liquid dmg is if they leave the phone in the bathroom or close to the kitchen's sink, which is kinda bs but whatever.
I've tried few more times. Tried even on a Mac and on a Linux system (using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755265 )
I was about to give up and go seek one of the 'professional rooters' but last thing I tried was to use an 'air duster' and clean the usb port on my phone. After that Odin was able to see my phone. The connection was dropping on/off but it successfully finished a flash.
Not sure if I should even try to put another rom or the official froyo update but at least for now I'm up and running
Thanks all

Can't flash ROM: Wipe all and don't have OS

Hi there.
I recently flashed the OmniROM to my i8190, but since it got several issues, after two weeks i decided to flash stock ROM.
So i enter TWRP recovery and wipe all data on the smartphone, but then my computer crashed and lost the VM that got Odin and drivers etc. so in a new VM i decided to try to flash, but now i can't.
Odin doesn't recognize my i8190, i thought ADB sideload could do the trick following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559200but all i got was:
error: device not found
Now i ended up with a pretty brick hahaha.
How can i flash a ROM ..ANY to my phone.
I got another i8190 so i installed the drivers from it to the VM, all except the MTP device, that got error.
I also installed SAMSUNG drivers, but nothing, ... i'm kind of losing it now hahaha.
Can someone helpe me flash this thing?
a) I CAN enter TWRP Recovery
b) I CAN enter Download Mode
c) Don't know if Odin doesn't pick it up since USB Debug i presume it's not on, but then again, since no OS is installed, i don't know how to turn it on from recovery or something like it.

Try another usb port and/or another usb cable. Also make sure that nothing with kies is runnung in background if you happens to have that installed.
When you connect with adb, also take a look on your phone screen if it asks for authorization to connect.
You got both download and recovery so problem is with connection/drivers.

Try this :
If you have an external sdcard in your s3 mini then :
1. remove it and put it into a other phone
2. download a ROM and move the ROM what you downloaded to your external sdcard
3. Put the external sdcard back to your s3 mini
4. Go to recovery and choose "install from external sdcard"
5. And intstall the ROM
6. Done! You have a OS again.
It's very easy and if you don't have a external sdcard then you have a big problem bro

If you have an adapter (micro SD to SD) then you should be able to insert the card into a card reader. This will probably be easier than trying to find another phone.

Yeah i did this, but no luck at all.
Finally i change the usb driver, installed Kies again and voilá! Odin picked up the phone and flash were on .
Thanks to all.
Glad you've got it sorted.
I've noticed my PC wants to install drivers for the phone almost constantly. Every small change seems to result in a change of driver. It can be frustrating.

due to windows updates this should be expected that certain third party software like the drivers would need updates
so that leaves two choices
either keep your stuff up to date
or
get left behind and drowned in problems

[Q] LG L70 kinda bricked

Hello all..
I'm sorry if this is the wrong section, but I can't connect my problem to anything similar..
I've been removing system apps on my phone and, unfortunately I selected Lg Home in a group, and without noticing I deleted it.
I did restart it after it.. and the problems started.
I was able to select the custom Home by LG somehow, but I'm enable to go into settings (getting "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped.")
After that, I noticed that I cannot do really anything on the phone.. my PC no longer recognize my device, usb debugging is disabled.
In addition, I cannot get into fastboot (boot loop, when I'm holding the keys),
I cannot go into recovery too.
I could only get to the LG hard reset page, did reset the phone.. with no success at getting anything back.
I have terminal emulator and SuperSU on my phone (it's rooted).
Is there anything I can do with the terminal? Like send LG drivers to my PC, or restarting in fastboot/recovery?
I even tried to flash the original ROM with LG Flesh Tool.
With that program I cannot get phone information, and when I try to flash I get a message saying that Upgrade stopped due to an error.
It asked me to restart and bla bla.. still same
I did try it from download mode, but my phone did not got recognized on the PC again, so nothing there too.
Whenever I connect the device to the PC, windows is searching for drivers for MTP Usb Driver (and fails everytime). Note: I did have those installed before I messed up the phone.
I have ADB and I'm working with cordova, so I tried to install another andorid on my pc, and it got recognized right away (every driver was installed without doing anything, and I can shell it).
Any advice?
Thanks.
Sorry for spamming..
But, nothing really??

OP3T Bootloop - no way to flash new firmware?

Hello!
I am a happy owner of a OP3T 128GB version, but I've currently ran into an interesting issue . I am familiar with rooting android, fastboot, adb and stuff and I have limited experience (a begginer, but a quick learner ) with some other android phones. I hope I'm not creating a duplicit question - I am really sorry if I am, but I haven't found a solution to my problem even after hours spend behind the desk.
Long story short - accidentaly did an Advanced wiped in TWRP (3.1.1-0) and wiped my system (OS) and everything in the phone. I don't really care about the data, but checking the Sysem box in Advanced wipe menu has brought me into serious trouble it seems. Of course, I got a bootloop - my bad, right , nothing I can't fix I thought... But when I approached to try to flash a zip or .img of a system file/stock ROM respectively, I found literally no way to do so. My phone isn't recognized by my PC(s) (Windows and Mac) and I tried everything I could. The device isn't even a Qualcomm or sth. in the device manager - simply nothing, I can only get the device to charge sometimes when connected to the PC (seen in TWRP). I cannot connect an USB key to it via OTG either in TWRP to flash from there - TWRP just does not seem to know I even plugged a USB into the phone. I tried OP drivers, adb naked drivers, the phone and the PC just don't seem to be communicating at all.
The device can boot into fastboot, recovery (TWRP) and if proceeded TWRP prompts with "No OS installed" and I get a bootloop as expected. Is there any way I could try to flash the device with proper firmware? I do have the firmware and everything, I just can't seem to find a way how to flash it . I am a young student who just likes to play with tech stuff and devices and messed up and cannot help myself and I am really hopeless at this point . Any advice is greatly appriciated.
Thank you so much.

If you can flash/boot into TWRP, then probably nothing is lost. While in TWRP, if you connect your phone with PC, what happens? Do you hear the usual USB connection sound? If yes, what appears in the device manager?
Even if it doesn't appear in device manager, don't worry.
Boot into TWRP, go to storage, DISABLE MTP and enable it again. I know it sounds dumb, but just try it. It will be recognized as long as you have the proper drivers installed.
After that copy the zip of an OxygenOS based ROM like FreedomOS and flash it. Don't wipe anything. It will boot fine. I've done that a few times, never had a problem.
Thanks for the advice guys - no, no sound, nothing - as I said, I only get the charging (+) icon in twpr next to the battery percentage.
I did disable and enable MTP before - although not plugged in a pc during the process - will try if I have the chance.
One more thing that might ring a bell for someone - I tried the key combo for hard reset today(power + vol down) for a couple second and moments later I got a fuzzy (random colored pixels) screen and a red led. Weird, if you ask me.
P.S.: Today I tried to chat with OP a bit - 230 Eur for a new MB (64GB) and 255 Eur for my 128GB version - I just wanted to know, I'm still not admitting failure though. But as a student, these numbers from the support literally hurt me when reading...

1) try to update the twrp to the official 3.1.1.0. Then flash the latest modem firmware for your device and try to flash a custom rom like lineage os (a 7.x rom)
If you connect the phone to PC in TWRP and your phone is not recognized, chances are good that either your phone's USB or the cable (or the USB port on the computer) is not working. You can try to download the adb driver installer from here, just to check if your phone is listed by the installer: http://adbdriver.com/downloads/
Update - tried the MTP Enable/disable option in TWRP (in the Mount menu) while plugged into the PC, with no luck
IvanPrince - have you actually read the description of my problem? I have the 3.1.1-0 and even if not, how should I actually flash another version of twrp? The problem here is I cannot seem to find a WAY how to flash ANYTHING on the device.
I'll see about the adb drivers and update.
Thanks all,
Does the phone show up as anything on the PC when you boot to fastboot? I re-read but didn't see anything about it.
Nope - nothing. By now, I believe it is a hardware problem as the phone indeed got wet before my mistake with the advanced wipe. It appears to work just fine though, apart from the connectivity issue, so I believe the MB should be ok as everything else, including the screen is.
I just have one, perhaps a little courageous thing I'd like to ask from someone kind enough. Anyone with a Oneplus 3 or 3T who's not afraid to open the phone for a couplne minutes and has a multimeter alongside with a USB cable should be able to help me. :angel:
Could you, my awesome stranger, check where the 4 USB pins (on the side where you plug them into the PC) lead (make contact/'BEEP' on the multimeter) with the actual phone motherboard? It would REALLY help me in troubleshooting and perhaps saving 250 Eur. So far, I have this: (same color means contact) at that point. See picture.
BLACK - GND (all the heatsinks are connected to GROUND as well)
GREEN - DATA +
YELLOW - DATA -
RED - VCC
If anyone decides to open up their phone and help out a fellow xda guy, it will be greatly appriciated. :angel:
Hey Bro I was curious to know if you tried this method of recovering from a hard brick... When I first got my 3t something similar happened to me. I can't remember all the details of my hard brick but I thought I was f***ed. Please try this if you have not already.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/unbrick-unbrick-tutorial-oneplus-3t-t3515306
Might be a dumb question, but you did remember to mount the USB when you connected the otg right?
If the bootloader is unlocked, you can save it.
I would flash the stock recovery and the latest factory image (4.1.7)
Download them both from here:
http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-3t/oneplus_3t_oxygenos_4.1.7/
After flashing the stock recovery using fastboot, boot to stock recovery and sideload through ADB the stock factory image.
Reboot and after checking that everything is working fine, feel free to relock the bootloader if you wish to stay 100% stock.
If the computer doesn't recognize it at all then it's a driver problem, not the phone... at least that's what I think.
try to use the program to fix my oneplus 3t it said download complete. try to restart
