HTC One (M7) AT&T
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Above is my information on my phone when booting up into the fastboot, recovery, factory reset, etc menu
I don't have an OS as well
Now the problem I have here is that I can't load my stock ROM when rebooting. I already loaded up a ZIP file of the specific stock ROM that I'm suppose to be on but nothing happens when on command prompt!
This is what happens:
>fastboot flash zip Guru_Reset_M7_5.12.502.2_clsA.zip
target reported max download size of 1514139648 bytes
sending 'zip' (1245080 KB)...
OKAY [ 57.277s]
writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 180.581s
Very frustrating especially with the fact that there isn't a EXE file version so I can't go and try that way either. Running out of options. Hoping somebody here to diagnosis this situation

The Guru Reset your trying to flash is flashed in custom recovery
Unlock the bootloader first then
Flash TWRP 2.6.3.3 >> http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
now boot to recovery and push the Guru reset to the phone
adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
just put the rom in the same folder as adb and fastboot and rename it rom.zip
the last step is to install the rom in TWRP / Install
During the install you can choose to keep the custom recovery you have now or return to stock recovery so you can recieve OTA updates again .. that's up to you

Okay up until this point everything was going great except when I typed "adb push rom.zip /sdcard/" (I copied and pasted what you wrote) into the command prompt and this message appeared:
>adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
cannot stat 'rom.zip': No such file or directory
Now what did I do wrong? I renamed the file as rom.zip just like you said and I placed it in the same folder as adb and fastboot. Was I suppose to go to a specific part of TWRP recovery? ADB sideload? I already tried ADB sideload but nothing happened....

I don't understand this part; do you mean to actually drag and drop the rom.zip to command prompt? It didn't work
Sorry if I'm making this more harder than it should be, and yes I'm using Windows as my operating system

Okay so I left the ZIP file as "rom" and then I re-did the whole process again. After that I finally got that GURU Reset file in the SD card. But when trying to install it it just gave me an error message! I'm assuming that it wasn't compatible with my software even though it match specifically with mines. Do you think I may have gotten the wrong software even though it's HTC One (M7) Sense 6 5.502.2(which was the last stock rom I got before rooting) ? Is there even a version released in the US specifically?

I tried all of them. Not one matched! I think something occurred between the day that they were put out and now that caused this to happen...
Want proof? I 've attached a screenshot of what I've been getting. This occurred over the nine different places that the ROM was from
Is there any chance of a EXE file version of this? Or any other places for a complete ZIP file? Oh and just to let you know the website said 1.2 GB, but the actual downloaded file had only 1.18 GB, not sure if this helps or not, just to let you know

No actually that was my computer that automatically set it. And, I'm still stuck at the TWRP installation again but this time it says:
Updating partition details...
E: Unable to mount '/cache'

Sorry I'm losing your patience here, if it helps I'll donate, because I'm getting help at least! I WILL DONATE

LOL sorry man it's fine, I just expect a lot from those i'm helping.
the cache error is meaningless you erased the cache so you get the error ...it has nothing to do with flashing the guru reset

1. fastboot doesn't work on recovery update zips. It is used on images made from nandroid backup (or img files made from building the source). In other words, fail.
2. Dev forum is not for troubleshooting.
u can mount your phone to your computer in recovery mode but using the code in my above post

So you can only use the .img files from AndroidSDK to update in fastboot? Im trying to fix an HTC G2 Vision (T-Mobile) for a friend, it doesnt boot and is NOT rooted, it will not seem to accept any official T-Mobile update or any i try to push or flash through fastboot. I have the nandroid backup images from another HTC G2 Vision (both phones stock rom) as well as the official T-Mobile updates yet they wont flash through fastboot or Hboot, ADB wont recognize it,fastboot will, i get failed to verify whole-file signature on most updates, but have gotten Main Version is older! mesage from 1 of the OTA updates i got from T-Mobile, and one that said something like failed to stat sytem/build.prop no such file or directory E:error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status7) everytime i boot her phone into recovery i get E:set_bootloader_message_block: emmc_read_data_fail! I thought if i could reflash bootimg or hboot or flashall i could fix it? am i wrong in this aassupmtion? I have reached out over half a dozen sites/forums for help and have not got any real help, if anyone can assist id appreciate it, u can alway pm me instead of dirtying the thread, Thank you!

[Q] Cannot find required RUU

I was trying the Cyanogenmod with root but the phone ended up in recovery mode without any rom file in the phone. Since its internal SD card, I could’t move the zip files too. Tried hours and hours of troubleshooting and fixes but still the same.
My phones current status is as below:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** RELOCKED ***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT- 1.55.000
RADIO-4A.21.3623.04
Also, I got the below information from fast boot
(bootloader) version-baseband: 4A.21.3263.04
(bootloader) version-main: 3.62.401.1
Main issue was whenever I try to send the rom zip file, fast boot only shows sending and nothing happens after that, and Im not sure if I am using the correct RRU as I couldn’t find the specific one for 3.62.401.1. I managed to use the CWM & TWRP recovery, and tried the sideload option, but even that gives an error
Kindly help

There is no 3.62.401 RUU only older version that requires to be s-off to install (require hboot downgrade) and you are S-On so forgive the RUU.exe
You should try to go back to stock with a guru reset.
Use this reset (rom) : http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_3-62-401-1-zip/
instructions can be found here : http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/stock-rom-downloads/
Thanks a lot for the details.
I have the Gururestore file, but couldn't figure out a way to move the file to the phone as the phone doesn't have an external SD card.
I am in CWM now and tried the sideload, but when I try the command adb sideload gurufilename.zip it shows error;closed.
Could you please let me know on how could I move this file to the phone and execute?
Thanks once again for the quick helo

adb push gurufilename.zip /data/media/0
be sure your in recovery before you begin
I am currently on CWM recovery and selected ADB sideload.
From the fastboot folder, I entered the command " adb push Guru_Reset_M7_3.62.401.1.zip /data/media/0"
Haven't received any error, but I don't see any progress on the phone or in the pc. Not sure if its copying the file to the phone.
Is this normal?

Then use cwm to navigate to your /data/medio/o folder the zip file should be there.
If I remember, in cwm, you have to select ''install zip from file'' and then navigate to /data/media/o and select the .zip you just pushed. then follow instruction in the video (you can skip to 1min30 after twrp procedure)
That didn't worked!
It stayed for some time and got cancelled. Restarted the phone and booted back in CWM but now the adb commands are not working.
Even adb devices shows
List of devices attached
Instead of the device.
Is there any other option by which I could move the file into the phone? Any alternative fastboot command?
I restarted the phone and selected FASTBOOT USB and tried the fastboot command.

you can't flash a rom in fastboot
your choices are adb push and adb sideload or a usb otg adapter
Thanks for the note.
I am trying to use adb with the how to from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929
In that
- Ensure in Recovery that your phone shows "Unmount /sdcard/" and "Unmount /system/" (If they do not show this automatically, just press each one once respectively as pressing just toggles Mount and Unmount)
In my phone, the /sdcard doesnt shows unmount. Even if I mount, it still shows the same, only /system is mounted and showing unmount /system
I tried once to copy the Gurufile.zip to /system and got a message like "No space left on the device"
Adb devices should show the device without you mounting any partition.
Can you simply enter recovery and type adb devices after couple of minutes?
What OS do you have?
If you select install from zip in recovery, can you browse the internal sdcard?
Yes, I can see the devices details when I type adb devices, and I am using a Windows 7
I can also browse the phone when i select install from zip. Issue is I am not able to transfer the file. adb push doesnt seems to be working as the /sdcard is not mounting. Thinking of getting an OTG cable and try for the file transfer.
Finally!
Got OTG cable, copied the Guru restore file and restored from that selecting restore from external card and now restored to stock ROM!
Thanks a million to all of you guys, you saved my phone! :good:

[Q] Recovery Issue.

Hello,
I have had two of the HTC ONE (M7) Sprint from when they just came out and rooted, installed TWRP 2.5.0.0 HBOOT-1.44.0000 S-OFF and no issues and just got a new phone for my son so I wanted to unlock the boot loader and install TWRP, and maybe a custom ROM later so my adventures start.
HTC ONE (M7) Sprint
HBOOT-1.56.0000
S-ON
So everything was going good got the boot loader unlocked and was following: http://qbking77.com/development/how-to-root-the-htc-one-international-sprint-att/
Which I have used before with no problems.
My issue is I flashed TWRP 2.5.0.0 and I believe this version does not work with Hboot 1.56 because I am not able to touch any of the buttons to do anything and then when I refresh the screen I get the padlock icon with the slider to unlock, but still no control it was like frozen only way to get it back is to hold down the power button and the vol down keys. Phone reboots and when I go into the Boot loader I get" Tampered (which I believe means that I have a custom recovery (that doesn't work...lol) then unlocked witch is the boot loader, which I believe is correct to have.
So then I when to try to just flash the newest version TWRP 2.7.0.1 and I also tried 2.6.3.0, and I kept getting the same error in CMD fastboot:
target reported max download size of 1514139648 bytes
error: cannot load 'recovery.img': No error
I thought maybe I should try to put CWM on and then I could then put back on TWRP, but when I did this I got the same error:
target reported max download size of 1514139648 bytes
error: cannot load 'recovery.img': No error
Need some help and guidance of how to get this so I can put a working custom recovery on this phone. I don't have an issue to have to go back to factory reset if that is the only way to fix this.
Thanks in Advance
Jon
You have the recovery.img in the folder you are using to open the cmd window?

Not sure if I have hidden file extentions?
Here is a screen shot of the Folder I am in when I hold down the shift key and right click the mouse and select "Open command window here"
You can see I was trying CWM this last time
Okay update I was able to get CWM v6.0.4.6 on but when it boots up into recovery I get :
ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.6
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_install
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_install
If I hit Backup and Restore then backup to /sdcard I get:
SD Card space free: 0MB
There may not be enough free space to complete backup... continuing...
Backing up boot image
and then does nothing.
I then tried to flash TWRP 2.0.7.1 threw fast boot and got this error:
C:\Users\Jon\Desktop\OneDrivers_Fastboot\Fastboot>fastboot flash recovery openre
covery-twrp-2.7.0.1-m7wls.img
target reported max download size of 1514139648 bytes
error: cannot load 'openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.1-m7wls.img': No error
Hope this helps
Jon
I have Root Access and TWRP Custom Recovery and SuperSU all working now.
Thanks again.
Jon
I HAVE THE SAME NO ERROR ... ISSUE ..... AND I AM USING supersu v1.25 .... And did u type .img in the end of image m7 file in fastboot folder ?
For the "can't mount /cache/" error, search for "fix a corrupted partition android" in google, it's from Android Revolution, that worked for me.
BTW, the CWM gives me a lot of problems, so I flashed TWRP 2.8, with no problems, be sure that you are s-off and type correctly the name of the file. Try changing the name to "recovery.img", just to be more easy.

first this should be a zip file, not a rar. You have to push or sideload the file to your phone prior to installing it.
Code:
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/

i am trying to install from the twrp insallation menu the rom that i downloaded and i pushed it from cmd "adb push filename.zip /sdcard/"
but when i try to install it "swipe to confirm flash" it faield the instalation

so this
E:unable to tount /data/media/twrp/. twrps when trying to read settings file.
E:unable to mount '/data'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/rom1.zip'
E:unable to mount internal storage
is the result of the failed instalation message where the rom1.zip is the zip that i downloaded

[Q] Lolipop update bootloop assistance M7

My HTC One M7 (UK O2) was prompting me to update to the latest operating system.
Eventually I succumbed and installed the update. The phone is stock although I had unlocked the bootloader in preparation for experimenting with new operating systems (I'm a noob but curious about experimenting).
After installing, the phone rebooted and wound up on a screen with a red exclamation mark in a picture of a phone.
Sometimes it boots into the white Android startup screen, then shuts down and goes throught the whole startup cycle in a loop
I can get it into bootloader mode but none of the options presented there such as factory reset seem to do anything.
I don't think it's a hardwear problem as it seems to be a direct result of trying to install the update.
I would send it in for a warranty repair but I think that as I have unlocked then relocked the bootloader and it shows a 'relocked' flag then that voids the warranty, is that right?
Any help to sort this mess out would be appreciated.
Thanks
jimbobly
During unlocking bootloader some files deleted and during update ota checks file integrity so file found missing and update stops
So basically you have to restore that files
Or RUU update can be found here
But it will delete your all data photo songs contact apps so backup them
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3053944
Thanks Yatindroid,
I don't think I can restore the files so I need to use the RUU. Can you tell me how to identify the correct file?
Thanks

This file is not corrupted, its encrypted, you can't open it. Want to know if its corrupted? MD5 value is what you want to check.
If the MD5 is ok then flash the zip.

To eliminate any doubt about corrupted file, the only thing you have to do is to check the md5 value. ANd like we already said, the file is encrypted you can't open an encrypted zip. Just check the md5 to confirm the file is good.

you need learn flashing RUU zip
reboot your phone to fastboot mode (same as you posted pic )
setup adb folder find miniSDK HERE and Here
Download htc fastboot HERE copy it adb folder rename it fastboot.exe (rename old fastboot to other name)
open adb folder put your RUU zip there rename it RUU.zip
connect your phone with PC
your phone should be locked/relocked
at adb folder open CMD (shift + right click)
type command below
Code:
fastboot devices
(will show attached phone to PC match serial no)
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
(reboot phone to flashing ruu mode)
Code:
fastboot flash zip RUU.zip
(wait it will take time 8-10 minutes it will show successfully at last if not repeat same command immediately)
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
( it is last and important step of flashing)
now see new version showing at phone details
reboot to system

Thanks for taking the time to look at this Yatindroid.
I followed your instructions but there seems to be a problem with the RUU file.
When I execute the 'flash zip' command I get an 'unable to read zip message!
The file I have has been recommended by several people.
Am I handling this file incorrectly?
This is the file I am using. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934541097
All I did was rename the file RUU.zip and move it to the ADB folder.
Thanks for the help.

put RUU.zip in fastboot/adb folder
name should be RUU.zip not RUU.zip.zip
use htc fastboot rename that to fastboot

I changed the name to just RUU, I thought the filename had to include the .zip term.
Now it tells me that it cannot open RUU.zip.
