Nexus 6 not receiving texts or calls - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title says, I'm not receiving any texts or calls from my Nexus 6.
Today my friends told me that they called me over 10+ times and I checked my logs on my phone, and there were no traces of calls. I had full bars today, all the way to LTE, and only gotten a few late texts.
Later on the night, I started to receive texts that were almost an hour late. Is this a unique problem with my phone? or is it a common problem with the Nexus 6?
Also, I am not rooted.
Edit: I am on T-Mobile

Similar issue. Verizon wireless user. Just went to 5.0.1 (official push from Google). Suddenly can't send texts. I can receive them. I can send and make calls.

if you are using fast.tmobile on tmobile, then its the right apn. have you tried putting it into airplane mode or rebooting? slso, if you dial *#*#4636#*#*, and press the first option, you can check to make sure its on lte/gsm.

Yeah, I noticed earlier on in the day that it was acting weird. So I did turn on airplane mode and then turned it off. Afterwards it was still acting weird so I did a hard reboot. However, problem was still occurring later on into the night.
I mean, as of now its not doing it anymore, but I have a feeling it might do it again later on; so I'd like to know if I should contact t-mobile support or someone to try and fix this in the future.
Also, I dialed *#*#4636#*#* and the Nexus 6 is on the lte

Sprint signal issues(no really)

OK I already know what the unhelpful responses would be to this I.e. change your carrier. I assure you it is not the problem I have a super strong LTE connection at my house with a LG G3 and HTC One. My issue is when the phone is sitting with the screen off, if I pick it up fast enough I see its been searching for signal then it quickly changes back to in service. Any ideas or anyone else experiencing this?? Also in battery stats cell standby is high and time without signal is usually a couple hours. As long as the phone has its screen on it maintains a signal.
I have been getting wierd things happing with my signal on T-mobile( showing no bars when I have signal, not letting me make calls when I have full bars). I think this is less of a sprint issue and more of a device issue. Should not be hard to fix with an OTA so I'm not worried.
Thanks for the reply, I'm curious if others are having signal woes.
My device is doing the same. Bought direct from Motorola, using on T-Mobile.
Noticing the same on Tmo as well, no issue with my Z2 so I know its the N6. It will show no bars, then full and bounce around every so often like it can't decide on 3G, H or LTE.

OK thanks, guys I haven't seen any other sprint users chime in yet so this is very interesting coming from T-Mobile users. I bought mine direct from sprint and of course I'm running stock with boot loader unlocked, rooted, and twrp installed. I also feel like I would have way better battery life if the phone wasn't searching for signal when the screen was off.
I have the same issue on and I'm on T-Mobile
No issues at all for me on T-Mobile in my home / area, but I still have to test it when I go to work Monday . In fact I have much better cell reception on my N6 than my note 4.
I am using tmobile nexus 6 on verizon and it doed act funky. Sometimes all bars would be grey, but ill still have service. Is odd because other verizom phones always show at least 2.
I had the same issues with the Nexus 5 and GPE HTC One M8, but I was on AT&T. Signal bounced all over, never hold LTE signal, dropped calls, bars would disappear, and that never happened on my other phones. Anyone have any input with the Nexus 6 and signal on AT&T?
I am having the exact same issue on T-Mobile. It is leading to some pretty significant battery drain, I hope this is fixed soon!
I'm even seeing users reporting on this over at the sprint sub on reddit. Hopefully just a software issue that gets fixed soon.
I switched from vzw to sprint for unlimited data and this phone so I cant comment on sprints coverage at home until this point. However my signal is very irradic and constantly non existant while my buddies gs5 and iphone 6 plus in the same room show 3 to 4 bars on sprint. I have done prl updates and tried every setting possible without root, hopefully it is software related.

Messaging issues on T-mobile after upgrade to 5.1

Yesterday I upgraded to 5.1 by flashing the factory images (no userdata wipe). Everything is running great except messaging is all over the place (I'm on T-mobile). I never received duplicate messages on 5.0.1 and now I'm getting them constantly. Also, now when I receive MMS messages (using Google Messenger) I get the "failed to download - click to retry" crap all the time that fails to download. Again, this never happened on 5.0.1.
Is anyone else seeing these issues since upgrading? Is this a T-mobile issue on the server side? Or is this something caused by me not wiping userdata (I doubt it unless it screwed with the APN, which looks normal).

I saw posts reporting this as an issue for Sprint users but I hadn't seen any for T-mobile yet. Thanks for the heads up. I'm guessing if it's widespread than it's likely an issue on the carrier side.
If I remember correctly, people were able to correct the issue by toggling off the "enhanced lte mode" in carrier settings.
I've been having this issue too any one know if toggle enhanced LTE fixes the problem ?

I turned off enhance LTE and I'm getting MMS from everyone but people on att weird
Yes!! Definitely an issue here. My MMS is all over the place. Some messages come through, others are dropping. If you try to dial "611" to connect to T-Mobile, it fails every time! Turning off enhanced LTE fixes the issue. Seems to be a carrier side problem indeed.
Exact same issues here. Also on tmobile, hoping they fix this soon.
Also have been getting duplicates and texts all over. Really hope its a server issue and not 5.1
Very sick of this error. I send double texts and get quadruple back. Stock unrooted 5.1 userdata wiped via fastboot.
Everyone, please comment on this bug report I filed with Google. This will help give us an answer.

T-Mobile was having issues yesterday. This was not Nexus 6 specific
I'm having the same issue to. I call 611 and it just says call ended. I also noticed my LTE signal is better however the speeds are horrible. I'm getting 3-5mbps where before 5.1 I was getting 15-20 mbps.

Well, I did Google searches yesterday when this was occurring for me and saw plenty of reports, including the Apple forums, lol. I wasn't able to receive text messages for hours after I was receiving duplicate for hours. Later in the evening I suddenly got over 30 texts that had been sent to me throughout the day. My fiance had the same issue on her moto x. Her parents had the same issues on their gs5s and had this weird Nokia message handling error when receiving MMS.

Can't receive text messages from one person?!?!

Hello I can send and receive texts with everyone flawlessly, but with one person I cannot receive. I am using the T-Mobile apn fast.T-Mobile whatever with the correct mms with default, supl, mms for the type. Has anyone experienced similar issues? Suggestions? I've tried toggline WiFi calling and enhanced lte to no avail. I've also deleted all other useless apn's. Thanks!

Guys I checked privacy guard on both phones and my blacklist section. There is no blockage here. She receives my sms just fine but I can't receive hers. No one else she text messages complains. I am stumped lol usually I never post in q & a section. She has the cyanogenmod whisperpush encrypted sms enabled idk if that is causing an issue I will check that later maybe. Wtf lol
This exactly was happening to my ex and look and behold, the person who couldn't get her texts had her blocked. I know you checked already.

AT&T Watch sport on VZW

Since you can't buy this watch on Google's site, or VZW's site, has anyone tried to buy one from AT&T and try to active it on VZW. Are they truly unlocked or does AT&T lock them to their carrier?
I won an att one from work and it did NOT work with my Verizon account. It has incorrect radios or something...it works through bluetooth for general notifications and such, but if you want it stand alone off the sim, then no, it won't work on Verizon's network...luckily we switched to att for better coverage in our area, so I am able to use the whole 'numbersync' thing, which is pretty sweet.

I attempted that same thing, and it wouldn't work at all, it would find the sim, and it would show it was a verizon sim, yes, but I couldnt take or make calls or texts with the verizon sim, I went round and round and round at Verizon and ATT and no dice. Tablets don't have call functionality so its a different sim is what I was told, I tried the same with my s2 sim. Glad you got it to work, I tried everything, but had no luck.

Regardless of where you buy the watch, I don't believe they have cellular radios in them, so they can't send and receive texts, and make calls like a phone. They must use LTE for that. Also you wouldn't want to have to use a separate number for calls on your watch.
That's the whole point of the sim? ATT has number sync where you get a new number/line but you can sync your current line to it...I can turn my phone off, leave it at home, and still get calls and texts on my watch. It does in fact have radios and LTE.

Well, I can send/receive calls, and send/receive texts on my tablet when my phone is powered off. It's called HD voice. Its a software feature, and works over LTE, and it ties to your cell phone number, not over plain cellular radio like phones use. The watches work the exact same way.

I had a similar problem. After I installed the same that I got from Verizon that use the ESN from a connect 24 then they will it still would not work and I had data. With the SIM in the watch and Verizon messaging installed on my phone factory reset it and the call setup.app came up and allowed me to enable HD voice and use Verizon messaging for texts. It now Functions autonomously I have data calls and texts without being near my phone I bought the watch from the Google Store and it is the AT&T variant

If you install it in your phone, it should become an option to install on the watch.
Confirmed working on Verizon. I bought the blue watch from Google, picked up a Sim from Verizon, they did have to use an LTE phone that we used to have on the account to activate the sim. This Sim had a number I never had before.
Once I put in watch, I reset "factory" the watch and in a few seconds I got a message from Verizon saying your new LG watch was synced to your phone number.
I have now made send/receive calls, and send/receive texts. It's pretty cool!

Once you use the message + app to link your watch sim (phone number) to your phone account (phone number) you can make cell calls, no issue. ..here is what I did to prove it.
linked with messenger + app, received the SMS to my phone and watch saying the number was linked, this SMS comes from Verizon, it's a no brainer that you have now set this up!
shut phone completely off.
on watch, turned off wifi, turned off Bluetooth.
opened watch phone app, dialed work number, connected, perfectly!
LTE Cell calls work just fine.
I came back to add this, that I do not have a way to test the actual connection, is it VOIP or Cell? But I can tell you this, I have spoke even to my boss for many minutes on just the watch out in the field, and we never had any problem hearing, or any bad noise on the line. It's fabulous!
fyi seems like a lot of you guys are really negative, but whatever, I have proved it works.

I know this is old, but trying to figure out how you were able to install Verizon Message+. Once I installed on my phone it appears to have installed on the watch. However, it doesn't show up in my apps folder nor does it show up under settings->apps->system apps. Not receiving calls (SM-N950F) on T-Mobile

I bought this Note 8 (SM-N950F) in Amazon.
Sometimes when people call me I dont receive the calls nor notifications...they go directly to voicemail.
I'm in US using the same T-Mobile SIM that I've used with my two previous phones (they worked perfectly).
I'm aware that this is not a US model but I'm able to make calls and receive many calls, I can use 4G too with no conectivity issue.
But sometimes I dont receive calls and that worries me because that'd be a big deal in case of an emergency :/
I've searched on the web but have found no solutions. I will really appreciate your help guys

Have you found a solution?
It happens with SMS too, I can send but sometimes I can't receive them.
I spoke with T-Mobile, tech support...they did something to the SIM, I hope it works now

You can just search "tmobile apn setting for [your phone]" on google and it should appear. I found mine and I did it but still cant make or receive any calls. I think they messed up my SIM, Im trying to figure out how can i contact them cause i cant even call them.
I will keep you updated with any solution or idea

I still have the same problem. Have you found something?
I'm able to make calls any time, and receives calls sometimes...but I recently noticed that when I'm not receiving calls, I just make a call and instantly I'm able to receive calls...so, I'm pretty sure it has to do with the phone app going to sleep.

No i still am not receiving calls at times where a voicemail just pops up with my phone never ringing. Talked to a friend he is experiencing the same issues. Im going to Tmobile to see if a new sim card will help

I went to TMobile and I got a new SIM too....still the same issue. But let me know if it works for you anyways.
Like I said, I'm sure that what's causing the issue, is the "phone" app simply hibernating, but I don't know specifically what's the name.
If anyone here could let me know what's the name of the app that controls the cellular activity, would be great
