Lollipop - Bluetooth Connection Issue - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
In my car I have a Kinivo BTC450 which is like a Bluetooth audio reciever. When i start the car it is supposed to connect to the phone automatically provided the phones Bluetooth is turned on. This worked flawlessly in KitKat but since the update to Lollipop I have had to turn the Bluetooth off and on again to get it to connect. It doesn't connect by itself.
It's clearly a problem with the phone as every other factor is unchanged.
Any suggestions? Thanks

By the way I should mention that it does sort of connect, the moto app turns on driving mode when it connects to the car. That still comes on but it doesn't connect fully if you know what I mean

Some suggestions

OK_So:#
Is the Reciever ORIGINAL or replica?
Had one of the technical parts/units ever taken physical damage/Water Damage/ Exposure to too low/high temperature?
Is the air inside of the car too humid?
Clean up with a Microphaser aka Microfibre-cloth
Reboot the device
Is there an app which causes this? Try to boot in safe mode (by long-holding the Shutdown-Entry in the Stand-by menu.) and then try.
All the best, have a nice day and best for your luck.

Thanks for the help.
Receiver is original. No damage. No humidity.
Everything was fine while on Kitkat. I'll try it tomorrow with safe mode though and report back.

Yes i know, asking for pressing the Thanks-Button sucks - and sometimes also in signature. (But i haven't got anything against it).
...but most likely you forgot to do. So asking for thanks has a small advantage as a reminder!
I am not selfish or greedy to having a higher thanks count but can i please ask you to press the thanks button in the case that my post helped you?

sweet Jesus... (-_-)' how do you want it to work with no irda in the device.........?
the answer is NO. it won't work. never.
br
bro
Well thats a fast judgment, you can always connect a bluetoot irda controller to your kaiser
but they are really not available!
But what if i could start my playstation 3 with kaiser...that would be fun
This thread is un-fuc*ing-believeable,
I was told by a friend that my tilt will wipe my ass for me. Does anyone have a .cab for this
Yea your phone will work as a universal remote. All you have to do is...
1. line up the upper left hand corner with the power button on your t.vv
2. place your hand behind/side of your head.
3. throw hard.
4. You turned off your t.v
P.s. Repeat the above steps for powering on, volume, audio/video, etc....
you got problems my friend

actually i remember there was this sound to ir converter that you can use......where you "record the sound" from the infrared signal. so you then just play the sound, and its converted to an infrared signal....lets see what google pulls up...

Hey, don't get down on yourself. We all make mistakes. Go buy a new T.V. and phone, Try again.
If you turn your television around it should work then.
If you really wanted to, you could buy an irda for the kaiser, but you would have to plug that in along with a mini-USB converter (unless you find a mini-usb irda) every time you wanted to use it. It would probably be better for you to just get one from Logitech (if you have the money).
get a TV with bluetooth remote... if they exist....
or you can write a program to enable kaiser to play PS3... the controller use bluetooth throught....

Bluetooth died on my zr

So a couple of days ago, I noticed that my car wasn't reading my phone anymore via bluetooth. I thought it may be a car issue so I checked with my girlfriend's HTC one and its working perfectly. Flashed the os through the Sony pc companion repair option, the ftf that I had made as well as factory reset but nothing seems to fix the Bluetooth. It works sporadically.
I also noticed that my sound system was also not detecting on my phone. So I took it to the Sony service place. They reflashed the os and tested it and it was working. I came home and paired it with my sound dock (which is a sony) and it worked for about half a song after which it stopped working. This is frustrating. Is this a hardware or software issue?

Same problem too.
All bluetooth devices can't connect to my Xperia zr, even search it.
This occured after I update my ZR to 4.22. At first it might be software problem, I thought, so I flashed back to 4.12.
But still the same...
Suddenly, after half an our, my SBH20 can connect to my phone, I was so happy that the problem finally solved.
So I start to reinstall my favorite games from googleplay... Than, the bluetooth die again.
Maybe is both software and hardware problem?
Doesn't sound good at all. I will test mine and check.

I'm happy with that the Xperia A finally works well with my Jawbone Era, my GNexus keeps stop pass calls/sounds to my Era.
I'm fine in stock ROM 4.1.2
Unfortunately I'm facing the same issues here.
I searched around and the "Bluetooth Problem" affects other phones as well with similar symptoms, so it's most likely the software that's giving problems. There were varying success with setting the visibility to never timeout. I tried that and it worked for a short while, sadly now Bluetooth is MIA again...
The problem with this problem is that it's hard to nail down the root cause or reproduce consistently, so workable solutions are hard to find. There's an app on the Play store that claims to fix Bluetooth problems but it requires rooting, so I couldn't try it out.
Hmms looks like updating to 4.2.2 doesn't solve the problem for some of you... less rush for me to upgrade then.
Yeah, I also tried one factory reset on the phone, putting it in/out of flight mode, turning the phone on/off, and even toggling Bluetooth quickly trying to "jump-start" the underlying processes. The only change I noticed was when I was attempting the last option, I could briefly see the phone trying to disconnect from my car's Bluetooth, so it looked like something might have worked. For now, I'm just trying to live with the inconvenience every weekend when I drive.
I just find that my wifi will be disconnected by power saving mode and it won't back to work when I switch power saving mode off. Unless I have to disable all power saving mode and reboot. Would you please give it a try to switch power saving off and reboot the phone see if there's any help to the Bluetooth issue. I do only switch on power saving at night before sleep and give it a reboot every time the wifi don't work. That might be why I'm not experiencing Bluetooth issue in daytime. Could anyone can try and send some feedback please.

Nope. No solution here. Will just have to go visit the service center again on Saturday. Need to find a phone with a micro sim to use while Sony tries to fix this problem. I doubt it is software related. Probably a hardware issue.

The app didn't fix anything. Which is why I think it's a hardware problem. If it was software related, it would have come up earlier given that I used the phone for 3 months with no issues.

I sent my ZR to service center yesterday, and they called me a few minutes ago.
The engineer said that" Your phone is fine here and I return it back to the center, did you forget to turn on your bluetooth setting?"
Umm...what the...
I believe that he didn't do anything about "testing".
Maybe tomorrow I'll go to service center and check, hope it do recovered...

Keep us posted...
I'm wondering ...
Is that SD card module or SIM card module caused this problem?
When I test my phone in service center, bluetooth was great, but after 5 minutes I set my SIM card and SD card in and reboot,it died again.
I guess the clue is between OS reflashed and SD card/SIM card, or even battery?
Guys.. still no news about the Bluetooth issue ??

Just got a replacement handset. So far it seems to be working. I've asked the service center to let me know as to what went wrong with my phone for the Bluetooth to stop working, given that after a reflash, it would work for about half an hour before conking off

They have no idea about how engineer fixed it, but it seems that they decomposed it and did something.
Because my warranty sticker was gone and the cover inside the battery slot is a little bit raised.

Does there anyone try to check up your BT MAC address? I've met a strange thing on my GNexus. That phone from NTT too but not officially unlock network lock. the seller just flash some half done unlock tweak to it, then I found there are many NTT GNexus user have the same BT MAC as my phone does. and that cause us can't use BT trans file between GNexus and BT headset will drop link if there are two GNexus near by.
I've manually change the BT MAC to a new MAC (my old & not use BT headset's MAC) to get it fixed. If there is no clue to fix your BT issue, maybe you can try to learn how to edit your BT MAC on android.
BTW: does any of you who met the BT issue uses Xperia A SO-04E from NTT(the phone with 32GB build-in rom)? or all are 8GB international edition?

Loose vibrator connection?
Idk. Sometimes I will tap the bottom of the phone and it will work for a brief section. Maybe rooting and installing a ROM might help? Lol
What system app controls that anyways? Maybe clearing its cache or debugging in SDK could help

Your vibration motor needs to be replaced.
It's a hardware issue.
Then if its a hardware issue, why does it still work occasionally ?

It's a mechanical thing. Rotor gets stuck, you tap at the bottom of the phone, rotor gets unstuck, till it gets stuck again.

You can try disassembling it.
It has a double sided vibrator.
It should be soldered onto the board. If it is not or if it moves, then this might be your problem.
Just be careful while disassembling.
I'm always looking for an excuse to disassemble stuff.
Kinda afraid to disassemble it. Especially if its soldered on. Idk what to do...thanks for the insight.

The vibrator is marked in the picture. It can be seen as soon as you take off the back cover.
If you can't replace it by yourself, have it replaced by a service centre.

Blinking screen in dimmed mode

Hi !
Sometimes when I start my watch It starts to blink in dimmed mode. If I touch the screen it stops and I got standby screen but when it goes to dimmed mode it starts to blink again. It can do this for a while and then work great all day whiteout blinking. Some times it has started to blink after I take it of the charge dock. I tried to reset the watch and when I did that it worked for about a week but today it happened again. Did a new reset and removed some apps from it to see if that helps.
Anyone else with this problem ?
Are you using an original watch-face or some 3rd party solution ?
If it's behaving identical while using one of the pre-made faces, you might have a faulty unit.

I use 3 party watch face. But the strange thing is that my watch works over a week after reset. Maybe it's because I have been doing things with it to much, changing watch faces and so on. Now I have removed some watch face apps to see what happen. It has worked for a couple of days now.
Skickat via Tapatalk
Same for me
My watch R does the same and I'm using the original faces, not a 3rd party one. It started doing this random flashing after about 1 week of use. But I noticed the other night that the charger (the travel adapter that plugs into the wall) was making quite some noise... I'm suspecting it is defective, and that it could have induced the issues on the watch.
Anyhow, contacted LG and am sending the whole package for repair & check, will let you know if the issue disappears. Definitively not acceptable for me to have such a nice smartwatch but behaving like that!

omg...seem like i am not alone...
mine is more like steph case....it will flash most of the time when i took it out from charger when 100% charge....it only flash like 3/4 of the screen. the flash is like max brightness.
initially i thought it only happen when i didnt use the adapter come in the package. but when i now use the original adapter, it still happen.
nothing can be done to stop the flashing until i power off the the watch this is depressing. i bought my watch direct from korea. now if warranty purpose, i will need to return it back to seller in korea.

Yeah... seems like a common issue if you ask me, I really hope LG knows how to fix this! In my case it was the same: only the top half of the screen was flashing. The other day, even after 2 reboots it kept doing it, quite annoying. I really thought initially that it was related to the travel charger making this frizzle noise, but seeing both your similar experiences, it is probably not related.
Can't you claim the warranty in Singapore? Before you return yours, let's wait and see if they manage to fix mine! :fingers-crossed:
This morning when I took it from the charging it started to flash, continued to do so even after a restart but then I just left it flashing and after a while it had stopped and now it have worked all day so far. Will probably appear tomorrow again. Will do a warranty claim on mine now.

Where did you bought yours? (I see your nickname and signature so I suppose you are in sweden ) ... Mine is from net-on-net. I have no probems with mine, yet, but, just in case things will start to go wrong, I need to be prepared .
As with any new release, looks like there are some problem units in the wild. I returned my first unit which had putty gray white markings on the bezel, flaky bluetooth and unreliable accelerometer and got a new unit with bright white markings, solid bluetooth and reliable accelerometer. Just like my Surface Pro 3. Took 3 units before I got one without bugs.

Wireless charging killed the phone :(

Hi everybody!
I bought a powerbank with wireless charging function (interstep 10DQi). I put the phone on charge. After 30 minutes, I took it off and it turned off. Now you can't turn it on. Turn on only if put it back on the wireless charger or connect to wire.
I record video with problem: youtu.be/6eKAO1z-D_I (sorry, new users can't post links, add to the beginning http : // )
I need help. What should I do now?

Did you try holding power and both volume buttons to turn shut it off and then try to reboot?

Yes I try, but it doesn't help without charging.
If I using a wire, I can turn on phone too. But if disconnect from charging - immediately turns off.

I'd try a factory reset next.

Ok, I tried it's now: one reset from system, and two from Recovery Mode. No result.
Looks like a warranty issue now...

Great video but sorry to see such a nice device crapped out. It looks new and hopefully you can get a warranty replacement in your country. (Russia?)

Yes, I'am from Russia, but now live in Cyprus. There no official warranty too. The phone is three days old :crying: My friends advise me to try to write to Google and send them the phone by mail.

Did you buy it from Google or 3rd party? I'm completely ignorant when it comes to foreign purchases and their limitations. Obviously, you speak English well enough to give them a call at the US phone number and beg for help. I think even if you bought it at a retailer they might make good. Just gotta get the right CSR on the phone. Good luck.
I'd try to flash the full image, that will sometimes bring one back from the dead.
Try using a different charger.

I agree with @krabman ... if the phone is BL unlocked. Fastboot flash the full factory image (not OTA) allowing it to wipe data. If you cannot unlock the bootloader for some reason (oem unlocking toggle is grayed out in dev settings) then try a rescue OTA, which is flashing the full OTA image in recovery via adb. Instructions on how to do this are on the same page as the OTA images. You're not going to get anywhere with Google with a 3rd party purchased phone in an unsupported country.
Why would you buy the phone from a 3rd party knowing that you may not get any support from Google for it?
Why would you use a charger that isn't certified with QI charging which the phone supports?
Sorry I do feel bad that you are having this issue but to me it sounds like you didn't do you research and broke your own phone.
