I'm the new owner of a S5 Mini (G800F) with the latest OTA update and moving from an HTC Desire under rooted 2.3.3 is quite impressive.
But now, I'd like to move my data from the old phone to the new one. I have read around to find out how to do this and came up with two solutions:
1. Root the S5 Mini and use Titanium Backup to selectively restore what I need
2. Use Helium Backup to get data from the Desire and then selectively restore what I need on the S5 Mini
My problem is that rooting the S5 Mini will trigger the Knox counter and thus void its warranty. I'd like to avoid that at least for a while and so it seems that option 1 is not possible for me.
I went looking for another solution and saw that Helium backup was highly recommended. Unfortunately, the Android App is not available for the Desire under 2.3.3 and so this seems like a dead end as well.
Now, would it be possible to get Helium to use data created by Titanium backup? Or would it be possible to extract the data from the Desire in a way that Helium would be able to use?

This sounds like a noob question, but I am not that noob, I have been moding and doing all stuff since X10 , but this is the only thing I couldn't get my head around (I am not very expert though).
I used to use several apps, but nothing seems to be working with the new 4.4 update. I tried PCC but it always lags and never worked for me, I tried three different laptops (two of which are fairly new) but still didn't work. I tried carbon (helium) but didn't work either.
I have been using sony's old backup and restore app and it has been working fine until 4.4 comes out and it is saying that the backup isn't compatible to be restored (although I used it to backup and restore from different android version without any issues previously in the Z1 and old Xperia S).
I would like to hear suggestion on best way to backup from 4.3 to 4.4 WITHOUT root. I have a backup and can always downgrade to 4.3 and restore data then backup using any suggested app.

I currently have an AT&T Rooted GS3 running 4.1.2 with CWM Recovery. I use Titanium Backup and have schedules to do automated backups 3 times per week (keep last 2 backups of all apps & data). I have Frozen several of the Samsung and AT&T crapware apps. I would like to upgrade to an AT&T GS5. At the end of the process I would like my GS5 to be rooted (need root for Titanium Backup and AutomateIt Pro) with stock TouchWiz and get all my apps and data back that I am currently using on my GS3. I'm looking for input on the best way to accomplish this task.

Well its really simple. Go to the sticky thread that shows you how to root the S5. Make sure you take the update for the newer firmware, and then download towelroot. Once that's done, just run towelroot and you'll have root access. From there you need to select a ROM. I don't think cwm supports the s5(yet?). Then you'll need to setup your custom recovery and install the ROM. Lastly you'll setup titanium backup the same way.
Or you can just towelroot and then freeze all the bloatware using titanium backup.
Bottom line is: read the sticky. It answers all your questions.

You won't be able to run TWRP or CWM on the G900A AT&T S5 you'll have to use Safestrap since the bootloader is locked down tight. Then you'll need to root using this method.

If you're just wanting to run stock TBU for freezing and debloat you'll really enjoy the S5 since in my opinion it's quite a step up from the S3 which I was a proud owner of myself.

Back up all your apps with TiBu. Use root explorer to copy the TiBu folder from your device memory to your external SD. Put sd in S5. Use root explorer to copy back over to phone. Open TiBu hit Menu, reload application so it sees the newly added folder, restore apps. I wouldn't restore data as that causes issues a lot, especially coming to an entirely different phone
So is it even possible to root the S5 the way the S3 was? Does Samsung really want that much control over their phones that you can't kill the bootloader on it?

You cannot root the S5 as you did the S3 it's actually easier depending on the kernel date. When I got my S5 I June I had it rooted and Safestrap installed in about 5 minutes. You don't have to use download mode or anything. It isn't Samsung so much as the carriers that want the bootloader locked down.

Install TowelRoot and run it. Depending on phone you may have to Odin an older kernel, root with towel root then Odin newer kernel back on. Takes all of 2mins
Hello, I finally broke down and ordered the 128 GB model in black. Coming from a rooted m7 and previously using Titanium Backup exclusively to backup and restore my apps +data. Any recommendations on the best way to backup my apps and restore them onto the locked down S6 Edge without losing all the app data?
I came from an iPhone and Samsung's smart switch worked great moved all my iMessages from the iCloud, so it may work with the M7, if not helium works for unrooted phones but you have to purchase to move more but a good developer, clockwork.

So I've decided that I really want to try out Samsung Pay, and I'm willing to give up root to do it. I'm currently on AOCE partially upgraded to OF4 using the method described here.
My main goal is to not lose any of my app data, so I'd like it to be as much of an in-place upgrade as possible (barring any root-related apps/settings)
My current plan is:
Titanium backup my current setup.
Odin to Stock AOCE
Root with pingpong root
Restore with Titanium Backup
Unroot
Upgrade via OTA or smartswitch.
Does anyone see an issue with this plan, or have a suggestion for a better one? I really just want to keep all of my app data from all of my non-root apps without chancing losing anything.

I know this is probably a stupid question but how can you unroot without restoring the ROM?
Is it as simple as using unroot in SuperUser?
I'm on AOE2 and thinking of going back to stock. So if I can go back to stock with re-flashing the ROM I think I'll do it.
Please let me know.
Hi guys,
I currently have a tablet on 5.0.1 rooted and bloatware removed. And also I have made a TWRP backup of this tablet.
My question is: I just order a new tablet, once I get it and if it is NOT on 5.1.1, (so if it is on 5.0.1 or previous), can I use my TWRP backup from my current tablet this new one?
If so, does the root, blocked OTAs, removed bloatware, will remain active on this new tablet?
