Step1: go to Settings->About Phone > hit the “Build Number” until you get “You are now a developer”.
Step2: go to Settings->“Developer options and turn ON “USB debugging” .
Step3: Connect the device to computer.
Step4: For Windows,we need to install drivers.
Right click on My computer and select Manage and select Device Manager

now double click on that and select update drivers..
choose Browse my computer for device software > let me pick from a list > select install from disk >set path to usb_driver file in

Now you should see something like Android ADB Interface..(do it again if you dont see this)
Step5: Next, open command prompt(win+r > cmd) and type: cd downloads ( or wherever you have downloaded the file to )
cd Nexus5
adb devices
you should get : 'list of devices attached'
some code and " device"
if you don't get this and instead get offline, then check USB debugging is enabled or not and reconnect the device and install drivers again
in device manager(step4)
Step6: Turn off your Nexus 5.Then hold down Volume Down and Power buttons together for 3 seconds until you see the bootloader menu.

This is because you connected the device in another mode and hence pc recognizes it as a new device

Step9: Go to your Nexus 5 screen and use Volume buttons to select “Yes” and hit the Power button. This WILL ERASE EVERYTHING
and unlock the bootloader.
Step10: Your phone reboots and you get the welcome screen like the day you unboxed it..
Step11: Now log in with a account and connect it to computer and copy the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip file to internal storage.
Step12: Power off your Nexus 5. Then hold Volume Down and Power buttons together until you see the bootloader menu then connect
USB cable from Nexus 5 to your computer.
Step13: Go to command prompt and type: fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.1-hammerhead.img (for TWRP)
OR
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.4-hammerhead.img (for CWM)
Step14: Next, use Volume buttons on your Nexus 5 and choose “Recovery mode” and hit the Power button.
Step15: Once in CWM or TWRP recovery, choose “Install zip from sdcard” or “Install”. (choose “choose zip from sdcard” for CWM.)
Step16: Browse your internal storage and find the file UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip. Install this file to root your Nexus 5.
Now your Nexus 5 is ROOTED.
Step17: Next, choose “reboot” from main menu of CWM or TWRP recovery.
:good:Your NEXUS 5 is now ROOTED:good:
PLEASE hit the THANKS:good: button if my post is useful

Erm, "Chinese dev" doesn't mean anything really. Don't you have a thread link, a github link, or anything in particular? It's almost like saying "Here an app", without really saying where it comes from. Kinda risky... Especially if it isn't the "Chinese dev" that shares it.
EDIT/// NVM, just was the source link... Sorry for that, was refreshing the wrong one...

I'm in the same boat, I like that it's done but the fact it isn't open-sourced and is provided by a sketchy Chinese version of a fake Oneplus site (take a look at the lack of SSL for example), I think I may hold off..
Thanks for sharing though OP, hope this might spark what we need to get the official version!

If I had OnePlus 5 I would have resolved the problem inside the twrp, but no device is impossible for me. A complete recovery will soon be released.
The recovery-from-boot.p is the file that restore stock recovery when you reboot your phone (It is in all android firmware)

did you restore your backup, after reboot . If yes, just uncheck boot when you restore and you dont need to format anything when flash recovery or kernel because these thing boot before system . For me twrp work good for me, the only thing is that i have flash supersu and when i want to switch to magisk, i delete all root on supersu app, and then impossible to boot on twrp, even after flash it with bootloader . The trick is to flash stock recovery from folder and then flash twrp .
Thanks

Pre-requirements:-

Here is the proof. There is no way to enable OEM unlock in developer settings. Bcoz im already unlocked it. Bootloader can be unlocked in Moto E4 Plus. 100% worked

Hey Folks
I just unlocked my Moto e4 plus's(xt1770) bootloader
What fascinated me is I hadn''t actually needed the unique code for unlocking bootloader like it mentioned on Moto's official website and some other threads
I installed proper drivers for my Moto
Then booted to fastboot mode by "adb reboot bootloader"
And Simply Typed"fastboot oem unlock"
Message appeared on my phone screen as "Press volume-up key to unlock"
And rebooted to normal mode.
That's it
Hope it helps for anyone
Praveen, Try to install TWRP recovery and root this device. Im also trying

Why is it that hard to root? Once you have unlocked bootloader and flashed TWRP, you're practically rooted. You just proceed to install SuperSu via recovery... as usual with any Moto device, I guess

Sai praveen bro, ADB is almost like fast boot only
Followings are the steps to root an android device using ADB or Fastboot : -
1.Install right USB drivers for your device on the PC/laptop.
2.Make sure you have the stock recovery in your device.
3.Bootloader should be unlocked.
4.Make sure you have ADB drivers installed and working properly,it's very important to have this.
Pre-requirements:-
1.Download the right android root package and TWRP.img file on your PC/laptop.
2.Download ADB and Fastboot on your PC.
First of all, you will have to install Custom Recovery on your Phone.
Step by step guide to Flash Custom Recovery on android device using ADB or Fastboot : -
1.Setup ADB and Fastboot on your PC.
2.Move the TWRP.img file you have downloaded to the "ADB and Fastboot" folder .
3.Enable USB Debbuging on your phone.
Goto your phone setting >> About phone >> Build number and click on Build number atleast seven times to enable developer options in your phone.
Now go to Setting >> developer option and enable USB Debbuging (also enable OEM Unlock if available).
4.Connect your phone to PC.
5.Now open the folder where you have downloaded the "ADB and Fastboot" file and open a command window by having "Shift+Right click"on any empty white space inside the folder and select "Open command window here" from the context menu.
6.Now type " adb reboot bootloader" and hit enter to enter into the recovery mode of the phone.
Check your phone's screen if it asks for "Allow USB Debbuging",accept it by selecting
YES/OK.
7. Once in recovery mode, use volume buttons to navigate up and down between options and power button to select an option.
8.Select the option "Apply Update from ADB Sideload".
9.Now type "fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img" and hit enter.
This will install the Custom Recovery on your android smartphone..
10.Now enter into the Custom Recovery i.e TWRP recovery mode and flash the root package zip/img file.
That's all.Hope this guide serves you well.

If you had included links for TWRP and SuperSu (root package), your guide could have been pretty rounded, indeed. Whatever, people should thank you anyway. Also, you all should do a system backup with TWRP before installing "root package". It's always the best preventive measure.

Hey bro, TWRP is not for Moto E4 plus till this date. That's why I just gave the instructions only. It may help other devices.
