Samsung seeds many Galaxy Gifts through the Galaxy Apps Application. How many people are actually using this feature preloaded on their Samsung devices?

I have looked through the gifts to see if anything interests me. I like the Kindle deal. I enjoy getting a free ebook once a month even if it's a small selection. I'm not complaining though, free is free. I'm already enjoying the device.

never used it until I got my gear 2 watch .... now I have several apps installed via galaxy store

I disabled it in the very first day together with other bloatware, but also had to re enable and use it to download the Gear Manager app... Just for that till now.

kindle deal and some other spen and montblanc stuff is awesome.

Im getting app updates for pre installed Samsung apps. Also i used it to some download additinal apps which were not pre installed, like those camera modes

There is some galaxy apps
I must have missed them before I debloated. ..
Skickat från min SM-N910F via Tapatalk

I've downloaded a few new camera modes as well as Hamcom Office from Samsung through their app store.

Used it for:
1. MontBlanc content download
2. Updating S note
3. Downloading optical reader app - converts images to editable text..not like the photo note. by that i mean perfectly editable text
ps: I see no further use of galaxy apps

(Request) Samsung galaxy note multi-window feature port

Any chance some enterprising dev could get this running on our nexus 7's

That would be cool if they could, but I'm guessing this is deeply integrated into Touch wiz.

It's open source. Roman made an ICS/AOKP/Cornerstone build a long time ago ... felt it was too buggy to continue.

AOKP got this request recently.
Seems a Cornerstone build would be the only way out...which is unlikely.
I'm fully aware this would probably be quite difficult to port, and likely quite time consuming.
Having said that, I also want this. It makes so much more sense on a 7 inch tablet then a 5 inch whatever.
This works with a handful of Google Apps, no other apps. I don't see the point.

Running 2 apps at the same time. Seems like a great idea to me. It supports a limited amount of apps, but unlike Galaxy Note 10.1, you could probably hack in other apps to work.

Yes, but the Galaxy Note 2 supports all apps in multi-window mode...
This would be *nice* to have but I don't know how much easier it would be then to just multitasking between 2 apps now and having the apps full screen. I can see some of the benefits like watching a youtube video while chatting on Google Talk. There are some good alternatives such as popup video players and notepads that overlay on top of current app and typically are resizable and movable.
While it makes sense this would be better on a 7" then a 5"... it really would be best on a 10". 7" barely gives me enough breathing room for 1 app. Plus most of the "compatible apps" are simple things like a calculator and notes
Well it seems VERY useful to me.
It's better than popup apps in my opinion - more app options.
Overscreen browser is a great alternative for now
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
No, it's not.
This allows multiple apps to run side by side, Overskreen is just the browser. Also, it's not even compatible with Jelly Bean, so no one who owns a Nexus 7 can use it.

No, as I said, handful of specific Google apps. Read up on it. Will the list grow? Maybe? I'd have to guess it is a sdk used to support the function, is it worth app dev time to do it and possibly maintain multiple versions of their app?
more then google apps
Not just google apps can do this on the samsung note 10.1 .
samsng snote and lecture app
browser
vidoe player
picture gallery
polaris office
Photo shop (special note version)
I think there a few others that are on the samsung web app store. Samsung sbe adding apps to this.
Now for the bubble burst. The reason they work on the galaxy note is the new QUAD Core cpu and 2 GB Very fast ram .. samsung tried to release a less ram/power version of the 10.1 note with a higer res display. they backed the display down and increased the cpu//ram. this is also to support the WACOM S PEN..
I have been reading alot about the device because mine will be here Monday. So the above if from my reading and research. I can update you more mid next week.. I do not see a need for split windows on a 7 inch screen .. get the overscreen browser and try it.. JUST Does not work for productive work...
Hope this help make it more understandable... too bad samsung did not make the n7 . i give up because of the screen issues sent two of them back and will NOT order a 3rd...
Dude. Overskreen DOES NOT work on Jelly Bean. And it is just one app, vs an entire suite of Google Apps.
Also there's no need for window management.
Nexus 7 has a quad-core processor too, just less RAM - which isn't even a problem, it still can handle side by side apps.
And you're telling some weird stuff here. We are talking about Galaxy Note 2, which allows more apps, and works better. AND it works on a 5 inch screen, so it'll be awesome on a seven inch.
So yeah, please don't come back with your 'research' to tell us that you think that this feature is unnecessary.
i hope sincerely as a dev can make a mod for port this feature in future beacause it's very usefull even if work only with google apps it's better ,
anyone know if a moded youtube apps existing for play a video on background because i search since 3 month but not find ?
thx
I don't think there is one, sadly. Android doesn't support true multitasking
While i would love to have or port this it simply isnt possible, it requires a lot of changing to the frameworks and it would be hard to decompile all of samsungs sources and extract it.

Stock android not, but there are a few roms with cornerstone, i think mainly on 10 inch tablets.
Web os did this kinda on a dual core wish android would absorb that multitasking feature right now running multiple apps kinda is a hit and miss

(Request) Samsung Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4 Watchon App

Hi guys. This is my first time to post in XDA and I hope this will be good.
So anyway, I just purchased a new tablet from Samsung which is the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 for several reasons such as the Watch on App but to my surprise, no watch on app preloaded in my device. I don't know the reason may be it isn't available in my country, Philippines. But when I purchased an S4 last year it was there and it was amazing.
Already tried several APKs available here in XDA but no luck. It wasn't optimized for my Tablet. So please help me guys. Can't also access it from goggles play coz it says it isn't available in my country.
Can I request the APK specifically for this Tablet. Please. ,
Are you rooted?

I tried the program - doesn't work on Tab Pro 10.1. Installed, but not works. Perhaps the reason is the outdated version. I can offer another option - Peel Smart Remote (from my Note 10.1) - works well and with Tab Pro: Peel Smart Remote 3.3.4
EDIT: installs as usual apk
WatchON program is working in this thread - S Note, Watch ON, S5 Message,S5 FileManager, Calendar and more from S5, all the features work, but only portrait orientation
I pulled watchon from the stock 8.4 and dropped it in mediafire
http://www.mediafire.com/download/hd6u3y6wwa1g1w6/YosemiteTABxlarge_SO.apk
I'm pretty sure it needs to live in /system/apk and I did not see an odex with the same name, so it should be self-contained. If it does need to be in /system/app you'll have to root to get it there, of course.
I much prefer Color Tiger's Smart IR Remote app.
Yes, it's paid, but the range of devices it supports is breathtaking. In addition to TVs and set-top boxes, it supports my 20+ year old NAD integrated amp and the Western Digital TV Live Plus box I have in the house.
Samsung watchon is available in google play store for free. No problem selecting Philippines in the country selector screen. I have the T325 tablet.

HD Video: Best Apps for Galaxy Gear NULL ROM

Hey everyone:
I have been installing and uninstalling lots of apps and widgets to determine what works on the Galaxy Gear Smartwatch. I've got my Gear Null Rom'med and connected to a Galaxy Note 1 Phone. Since I am not giving up my Note 1, the Galaxy Gear looked to be my only choice thanks to the work of the NULL ROM developer. Mostly everything on the Gear works-- except notifications, weather, and third-party contact apps. I'm looking forward to the SMS developments going on in another thread. My partner also has the same phone and Gear, so I've got two mouths to feed!
Otherwise, these are the best apps for the Gear 1 that I have found so far. I am learning some new stuff too, so there may be a part two in the near future.
Please comment, looking forward to your feedback, and I salute all of the developers who are continuing to hack the Gear device. Thanks guys!

Great to see another Torontonian using the same watch/phone combo that I am! What a fantastic and informative video as well...I can't wait to get home and try out that remote media controller as I have my note automatically connect to a decent set of Bluetooth speakers when I walk in the door. It'll be really cool to control the music from anywhere in the house..
I noticed that you are using a stock touchwizz ROM on your note. What version of gear manager are you using and with what degree of effectiveness? I am using an AOKP kitkat ROM on my note that I absolutely love and don't think I could tear myself from but I may just nandroid and try stock if you tell me that there is greater functionality..
Great video! Nicely edited and covers a lot of mysterious capabilities n features that aren't immediately obvious to beginners-including myself. Nicely done!
PS: Love Google Goggles and Price Rythem for instant product information, nutritional facts, reviews, current pricing! Either scan the bar code or take a picture of the item, and your done!
Runner up would be Pie Controls to quicky access your favorite apps. from your watch face.

Hey fellow Torontonian! Does the KitKat ROM on your Note 1 allow you to keep the S Pen features?
I can only get to Gear Manager 1.2 and basically none of the notifications work-- the Gear Manager is only able to open the Contact app on the phone. The Gear's camera app does transfer photos to the phone automatically. Nothing else works in Gear Manager. I can't give up S Note on the phone, so it hasn't been rooted since Samsung released a JB update a year ago. I wish that SMS and email notifications could work but--- but there's not really any other smartwatch that will work with the Note 1 so I accept these compromises.

[Q] First time Note User any Tips?

This is my first Samsung Device and my first Note. I've always used Nexus devices. Had the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 but the Nexus 6 was a little too big and the Note 4 had a better camera, screen, and battery. I've always stayed away from Samsung phones because touch wiz and the gimmicky features. So far I am loving the phone. I am even finding some of the features I thought would be a gimmick useful. So far I have done a few things to make the phone more Nexus like. I have installed the Google Keyboard and Google Now Launcher. Is there anything else I should do? Any apps I should disable? I want to make the phone as snappy as possible and if there is any crap running in the background that can be turned off I want to know about it.
Also what is the deal with the Samsung account? Do I need one? My contacts and stuff are all backed up with Google so what is the Samsung account for?
Disable anything you can that you don't use.
Don't use a Samsung account is not worth it.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
If you are going to use s-note or the s apps, the Samsung account will back that up. Also there's some pretty cool "galaxy gifts" in their app store that are useful and free. I'd create one and check out what they offer. After all its free and you might find something you like.
From Dante's Inferno via XDA Premium HD
Samsung Account also backup your text and Mms. I'd say it's worth it.

I installed the Edge Lighting + to get some extra lighting options.
Got my YouTube there, too. I saw something about Kindle for Samsung, but haven't downloaded it yet.
I got Sound Assistant so I can fuss with my equalizer on the fly.
I also downloaded some new Edge panel apps. I got the calculator and browser quick links.
Lastly, I set up Samsung Themes to be its own shortcut. I've downloaded a few themes, AODs, and an icon pack.
The only thing that interested me so far is the edge panel apps.
Everything else seems like "me too" apps. Havent seen any cutting edge apps that I had to have.
Samsung music is pretty decent, it gives the edge lighting while playing, really cool.
You can also get the old "s notes" app there if you aren't happy with Samsung Notes. Just go in Samsung store and search "s notes".
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I have so far found the EdgeLighting+, Goodlock 2018 (with LockStar, QuickStar, Task Changer, and ClockFace modules), and the Sound Assistant.
I like that Samsung has the options to customize these little things with these little add ons.
