About Choosing Right Firmware... - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys i was searching for factory images for my xt1068 dual sim indian version... i found them on the link below
http://motofirmware.com/files/category/38-titan/
there are two versions im confused abt them...wat is RETAILDSDSALL and RETDEALL??? i hav moto G xt 1068 Dual sim indian retail version...any help??? i hope this link wil help u too...

RETAILDSDSALL means RETAIL (I guess you know what is this), DSDS = Dual SIM, and ALL = I don't know what this mean, sorry, I guess is like 'it works in all countrys' something like that, I never tested Retail like this, so I don't know if it really works. And the second seems to be a retail from a country that I don't know the name, (sorry, couldn't find this in google), but if your XT1068 is from india, the firmware that you need is a Retail from india (obviously), or a 'retin' firmware, I don't know how is this in India, but here in my country I can use even a US firmware and it will works fine, but like I said, I don't know if in India is the same thing.

Choose RETAILDSDSALL. It's the international version.
RETDEALL is the german version.

There are many models unbranded. The ones from latin America and Canada. AFAIK, all can be bootloader unlocked except Nextel Mexico.

If you're planning to get one in Greece, you're out of luck. The Moto X is only for sale in Latin America, US and Canada. UK is not getting it.
What matters most is the spectrum your network supports. Even if the phone was SIM-locked, you could just pay for a SIM-unlock online and leave it at that. If the hardware of the Moto X doesn't support the networks available in Greece, then it's pointless to buy either way.

I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand. All phones come with the retail ROM, if that's what you're asking. Just because the ROM title in the site doesn't say it's retail, doesn't mean it isn't.

Probably killed my modem

Hello,
my moto voice stopped working and even a factory reset didnt help. So I unlocked my bootloader and everything from the Rom I downloaded. I got an error upon flashing the modem, but the script sadly still deleted modemst1 and 2. Everythng works now, except the phone is now Brasilian and I have no signal whatsoever. My Moto is a XT1092 if it helps. Help would be much appreciated
Indeed yo may killed to modem/radio, probably your carrie does not support the same bands as the retail brazil carrier. Which carrier are you?, all gsm bands still may work unless you have CDMA.

Im currently using o2 germany. Just got off the phone with the Repair company and they said if i have root or unlocked bootloader its fubar and they wont repair it. WTF....i found brazil or us stock firmwares, but no german one...
I doubt it is broken. But it may not work until you find a stock original ROM to flash. Maybe you should look for a UK or FR ROM , I believe there is only one ROM for xt1092, not a specific German one. It might be called EU ROM, but I haven't searched for it.

The Build that was running on it before definitely ended in DE. But I will keep searching for it. Do you think I should send it to a repari center and risk paying a lot of money, or should I just wait until a German Rom is released somewhere? I mean, Android L at least should fix it right up again.
Because you are not stock you won't be able to update it to lollipop... For the repair center you are the only one to be able to answer that question

I am stock, I actually managed to get my TWRP Backup back on the phone, so im on a German Rom again. Still, the modem doesnt work, as TWRP doest back that up.
I see... You have to find a stock radio and to flash it again.
I think someone with unlocked bootloader can probably extract it for you?

Yes exactly. I do not know how someone can extract the radio though...
I hope, Android L will flash a new modem. If that would be the case, my problem would be solved
Yes but again: if your modem not stock then no android L for you.

I know that, but I guess there will be someone who can grab the OTA and i can flash it manually
Good guess you're right. But I suggest you to ask someone with a xt1092 and an unlocked bootloader to extract radio for you, ask it in the dev section.

[Q] Is CM12.1 worth it/safe? And whats the best way to install?

Hello from Australia, still on KitKat, the ISP's haven't even received Lollipop here and its not looking like we will get an update any time soon...
So i have been thinking about CM12.1.
From what it looks like, there are only nightlies available....
Is it worth getting on that?
Are they safe enough?
Are there any other methods of getting lollipop on my device as a daily driver?
How would i go about installing CM12.1 on the Xperia Z1?
Cheers,
Marcel
Why don't you flash an official lollipop firmware? (from another carrier or a generic one). CM12.1 still have some bugs...
Search in "General" or "Android development" for stock lollipop "ftf" or "pre-rooted firmware" it's easy and safe to install

wouldnt one from another carrier (have to be a different country as the only 2 in australia dont have anything) not work with networks here? i have read in lots of places all the builds that people offer for the Z1 have issues with network and the camera. would all features work??
Well, just check frequencies...
Here in Italy we can flash anything that is EURO-LTE... Just have a look for GLOBAL-LTE rom... I think it might actually work. If it doesn't, you aren't bricking nothing, just flash 4.4.4 ftf...
I also suggest you to use xperifirm to check and download the ftfs

Question is does Australia use LTE or 4G? Because I tried a LTE variant on my UK handset and it wouldn't work, I had to create my own pre-rooted rom to allow me to use 4G.
4G LTE is not the same thing? [emoji19]

Seems they forgot about all the Latin American n920g devices. I have an unlocked Trinidad and Tobago n920g and don't have official either ?
Just give it a go, it shouldn't break your device - like an LG phone can.
I see the occasional post of someone having success on a g variant for c firmwares.

Here is a models reference list for Note 8 incl. cell bands:
https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-note-8-sm-n950-model-number-differences/
knowing that, you can look-up the proper firmware in SamMobile.
N950F and N950FD are the same! The D only stands for dual SIM but both are using the same firmware.
Don't be afraid to hit the "Thanks" button if someone helped you. It don't hurts

I see differences between these two versions in regard to LTE bands, ver. F has 10 bands vs. 16 in FD. The 'F' is exclusive to EU, FD is EU and beyond.

That is correct! However I wouldn't recommend installing the stock OS from the N950F onto the N950FD. As the modem software maybe different as the FD model has dual SIM capabilities.

And which firmware you want to install instead? There is only one version available for F and FD!
I also have the FD variant device and flashed the F firmware (also only bootloader and modem) more then 1 time!

They're the same firmware actually in this case, so no worries there. For example, on Sammobile there is no N950FD firmware, only N950F firmware which works for both models.
Thank you for clarification, very interesting. So, the script addresses the differences on its own. Am trying to add Android to the list of my after_hours hobbies. I have a lot to learn. I was wondering about adding Band66 from N950FZKDBTU to F/DS version. T-Mobile has that here in the US, and I thought that maybe I could flash the radio partitions from the UK version so, no, it has to be done by nv edit. I'd think.
